Jim's head throbbed. He was going on nearly two days without sleep. Bones stood opposite of him. Spock sat in the middle in the chair. A habbit he had when he wanted Jim to calm down. He wished he would stop that. He didn't need to be coddled. Sarek sat even further away. They had all been arguing for the last two days. It had started when he had voiced his desire to go to the place where the puzzle had lead. He felt he was so close.

"I still say it is a damn foolish idea Jim. Some person you don't even know sends you a message saying meet me here and you want to go? What happens if you get killed?" Bones wasn't shouting any more at least.

"It'll be fine. If anything happens to me I already have my will made out." The death glare he got was almost enough to make him cringe. "Look if, and I am not saying it will but if, anything happens to me I have everything set up for David to live a comfortble life. Everything I own will turn over to him when he is eighteen and I know you'll do great with him."

Bones snorted. "You don't think I will be staying behind on the crazy hair brain idea of yours do you? And if you make someone the godparent of your son don't you think you should let them know?"

Shrugging Jim rubbed at his head. Thankfully JoJo had taken the kids for the night. "There's kind of a list so I didn't think it would matter in the long run." With three pairs of eyes on him Jim explained. "You of course are my first pick to take care of David if I died. Uhura and Scotty come next. Hikaru and Chekov already have two kids and I don't want to add to that but they come next. Then Sarek of course." He paused and looked at Spock. "I didn't...before all of this...I didn't know where we stood. So I..." He felt lame was he shrugged unable to find the words.

"I understand. Outside of my father and Nyota I trust you with Lhai." Spock looked at him and Jim was grateful he did not see any sort of pain about being left out of the list of who got David if Jim passed before the kid was grown. "I still agree with McCoy. This does not seem like a good idea Jim. Why would they send you another message when we have not solved the first one."

That was harder to explain. He didn't really need them to go along with his plan. He could go alone. It's just he would need someone to watch David. Someone that could keep his son safe. "I can't tell you it's not a trap but even if it is I need to know. Remeber the last time we were given coordinates? It lead to us finding a ship set out to start a war."

Sarek spoke for the first time in the last eight hours they had been arguing over going or not. "But why does it have to be you Jim? I can have the Vulcan council look into it."

"No!" Jim winced. He hadn't meant to yell. He swallowed. "Look I'm going even if I have to rent a ship and fly there myself." He hadn't flown in years except in simulations. "It's important." It was the nagging feeling of a clock ticking until it was too late.

"I will watch the children Jim. You can take my personal ship." Out of all of them Jim was supprised Sarek would be the one to agree to this. It just goes to show how much things have changed.

"Damn it why are you encouraging the toddler to go half way across the galaxy to some God forsaken maybe planet? Let me put in some calls. JoJo can stay with Sarek and give him a hand with the boys. My staff can take care of the clinic while I am gone. You're not sitting behind navagations. I like living. Should call Hikaru."

Jim huffed. "Hey I'm not that bad! This is my trip. I can fly. You don't need to get Hikaru involved."

Spock stood as Bones move to leave. "You should see if Chekov can come. He is the best navigator we know."

Bones snapped his fingers. "Knowing Jims luck something will break. We should call Scotty. Where are they at this time? I think Uhura mentioned going to China."

Sarek began typing out on his PADD. "I'm making arangments for the boys and Miss JoJo to stay with me. My assistant will clear out a few days of my schedule so I may paricapate in bonding time with them. There is a new theme park opening up that should keep two creative and active boy ocupide for a few days."

All of them ignored the sounds of protest coming from the former captain. "No she is in Tailand. She should have just gotten off the plane." Spock pulled out his communicator and began typing out a message.

"Really? Now you guys are joining forces? You're coming too I suppose?" He looked at Spock only to get a nod. Jim threw up his hands in defeat. Two days wasted because they couldn't agree about going. "I'm going to bed. Clearly you three have everything under control."

Jim awoke from his nap slowly. He should have avoided work if he had been up all night but he hadn't and then the argument over if they should go or not had taken longer than he had wanted. He was paying for it now. His head still ached almost as bad as he use to have when he had hang overs. With a heavy sigh hr slipped out of bed and made his way into the living room. Spock's scent clung to his clothes. It would be weird when it faded again.

The former captain paused when he spotted Sarek. He had to clear his throat a few tumes vefore he could do anything that resembled speech. "Good morning. Where is everyone?" He almost smiled as Sarek gave him the you are illogical look. It was closer to eight at night so he had only been asleep for three hours.

"They are out. Spock is making travel arangements while picking up supplise for your trip. Leonard is picking up the Sulu's. Since their children will be staying with me as well I volunteered my place for them to stay. How are you feeling? You are making a face."

Jim made another face before going to grab orange juice from the fridge. "Yeah my head's been hurting. I think it started a couple of days ago. It's just gotten worse over the last two days." He finished off the first glass before filling another. "So which one put you on baby sitting duty?"

Sarek actually smiled. It was barely there but Jim was good at reading Vulcan facial clues. "That would have been Spock. He said you had a bad night." Jim raised a brow in mimicry of Spock. That was likely putting it mildly. "What he said doesn't matter only that you might have had a hard night being in a bed he had slept in."

Jim felt his face flush. Of course that was what made Spock worry. Almost been fully asleep when dream and reality had merged. Spock had been laying next to him like he had thousands of times before. Working on the PADD while Jim slept. When Jim had reached out the image had shattered. It had hurt more than being surrounded by Spock's scent had.

He raised his glass to his lips before setting it back down. "I'm okay you do know that right?"

"That is not why I stayed. Before you went for a nap you seemed like you wanted to say something to me but not in front of the others." Jim nodded at the inquiry. He twisted his glass between his fingers as his mind whirled like a storm.

"Yeah... Yeah I have a favor to ask of you but I don't want you to tell anyone else." Jim pushed away from where he leaned against the counter. If this was what he thought it was it wouldn't matter if he added one more lie to his ever growing list.
