The breakfast table was quiet with nothing but the clink and clanks of silverware. Paul looked down to see his children stuffing their faces with food. He could only smile. They ate just like him. the more he watched them the more he became firm in his decision. They had to stay with him.

Clearing his throat, he spoke "…I'm sure you all know why we're here."

All eyes looked up at him. Jared, Emily and sue.

"your alpha is abusive…manipulative and he doesn't care…and I refuse to keep my children in that environment. There was a point in time…when I didn't have the choice nor the control to interfere in their lives but now, I do. my children are coming home with me…and I'm offering you all sanctuary."

"…i don't understand Paul. Why didn't you come back for them? Or try to get custody…" sue asked

"because ...I have a criminal record. Their mother…died while in my presence put that togather and what do you get?"

"you could have still tried…" sue argued

Paul held back a growl "and let Billy and Jacob ruin my life again…let Sam and the pack ruin my life again. Yes, I miss my children more than life itself and I thought they were at least safe…but seeing the three of you describe to me how miserable you are…I should have done something sooner...but knowing the law I knew it wouldn't have worked…"

A sudden sadness crept over Paul as he realized he failed as a parent. He looked at his children. They were five and he missed it all. A sudden slap on his cheek had him look over. to his shock Jolene was looking over at him in anger.

"stop were band from the state of Washington. You were charged with man slaughter and no on stuck up for you. So don't you dare throw a pity party. our children are here now and that's all that matters."

Paul smiled at his wife. Back then didn't matter. All that mattered was right now.

"My children...are leaving with us… you are all welcome to come."

"…I cant go…now that the children are safe and in good hands…" sue stopped herself and pulled out an orange envelope.

"these... are the custody papers…I've kept them with me for years. Praying one day…you would come home…or that I would see you…and yet here you are. so these are for you."

She handed Paul the papers.

"w-Sue? I don't understand why you don't just come with us?" Paul asked

"I'm sorry nephew...i have to stick by Charlie…" she said as she looked towards Jolene

"are you serious? You staying with him…I cant believe you sue! Seth and Leah don't care about you. Charlie scheming behind your back and you want to go back to him!" Jared growled

"sue...could you at lease stay with us for a few days. I'm sure it would help the children and I would love to get to know my stepmother…"

Sue smiled. "...Well I guess I could stay a few days. Now ..Jolene…would you please tell me how in the world you met Paul because your father told us you were living with your mother in phoenix and then she showed up a few weeks ago going on and on about money and some dead uncle and –"

"wait…did you say…my mother was looking for me?" Jolene asked

"yes…she had a lot to say."

Jolene rolled her eyes but before she could said anything she felt a cold hand on her shoulder.

She looked up to see Victoria looking down on her.

"you all have to leave…now. I have a private jet waiting for you all. So please be fast and pack your bags. Ill answer all your questions as soon as we get on the plane."

"wait a second" Jared interrupted "you can't jut expect us to just-"

"We will go."

Paul had spoken and that was all.

It took them two hours to get everything but they made it to the their relief it was just them on the plane and by now the children had fallen asleep, Sarah had taken Jolene's lap while Nathan curled up in pauls.

They all waited for Victoria to speak.

"I know I left you guys, but I figured you needed some time for yourselves. But the reason I rushed us all out of their was because…the Cullen's know about me. And if they know about me…they are likely to find you Jolene and the last thing you need is for them to interrupt your lives. So…once we land down south…I'm going to leave…for a while… if I stay here...ill bring danger to you and your family…"

"but…Victoria…we just...you just…you cant leave…" Jolene argued

"think about your children Jolene…they've already phased once…ill always have your family's back but I won't be responsible for their harm. So as soon as we land…I'm going to go into hiding. The Cullen's have joined the Denali and become one coven that's twelve people. if they stay togather any longer it will draw attention to the volturi and then we will really have a problem."

When no one asked any more questions, Victoria nodded. She was going to do one good thing in her l life and if protecting these humans was the cost…she would do it.

Chapter:

Victoria watched the group get into the cars that were waiting for them. With a wave she got back on the plane and had the pilot drive to the place she knew she needed to go to.

Forks, Washington.

Alice hummed as she put the clothes in the closet. They had gotten back just a few weeks ago. Of course, their presence incited frustration with the wolf pack but Carlisle assured Jacob that they would stay away from forks and in the forest. besides...the Denali's went back to Denali to keep a look out there.

Being in forks brought old memories and painful wounds. The smell of blood still lingered in the carpet…after all these years.

Bella…she had lost her friend and sister all those years ago and all because of her husband.

She heard him hiss from the other room as emotions of resentment and anger were cast over him. she was also pissed at him for lying to her about Victoria, now they were back in forks away from the hills and fashion of Spain.

"ALICE STOP IT!" jasper screamed at her as he stood in the door way

"what are you ever talking about?" she asked playing dumb.

"you know what exactly what I'm talking about! Let Bella freakin swan go! She should have never been invited into out lives in the first place!She's just a human for crying out loud!"

Before Alice could react, Edward had taken jasper by the throat and threw him over the banister.

Of course, jasper landed on his feet.

"What's a matter brother…pissed that you couldn't drink the little human before I got to her…you know her blood still lingers in the house…"

Jaspers words only sparked the rage that Edward was feeling. The two brothers clashed.

Even though Edward could read his thoughts, jasper was a more experienced fighter which led to jasper having the upper hand.

"STOP IT! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!" Esme yelled as her house was being destroyed.

It took Emmet and Carlisle to get them off each other.

"what is going on!" carsile asked

"Edward and Alice are pissed because of the reminders they have of Bella I-"

Every thought froze when they caught the scent that was in their front yard. All seven of the Cullen's burst unto the front porch.

"Victoria!"

Jolene's mouth fell open when she saw the renovations to their house. What was once a one-bedroom log cabin had become a five bedroom cabin. It was bigger than before.

"Paul?" she asked

"…I'm sorry I know it's a lot to take in but had the boys do some renovations while we were gone. I called them the night after I talked to Emily. I-"

"mayor Paul! Mrs. Jolene! Is that yall! Well it's about time!"

The front door opened to see mason Clark and MS. li smiling like there was no tomorrow.

Paul couldn't help but smile. He missed his family…his true family.

"mason clark! Ms. Li! " his wife said as she ran from him and right ino their awaiting arms.

"my my my! look at you jo! Your glowing! You just wait until Caroline and jerry see you!" Ms. li stopped talking as she noticed the people behind them.

"...i see you brought guest…and little ones…how about we all head into the house." She said quietly.

The one thing Paul knew about his town was that they welcomed outsiders but were extremely cautious.

The group of seven plus Ms. li and, mason Clark went inside.

Of course, there was a spread of food. There was always food. Paul showed everyone to thier rooms and then headed to the dining room.

"Ms. li? Mason Clark?" he called

"in the kitchen!"

Paul smiled when he saw them. They were his pack. Ms. li, mason Clark, jerry, Christine and the rest of the people in his small town.

"Thank you for having everything ready. How has everything been?"

"oh mayor Paul, don't you dare worry that handsome little head of yours. Everything worked out fine. Of course, it wasn't the same with you and Jolene gone but we made it work."

Paul gave her the look. The look that said to not lie to him or play any games. Mason Clark caved first.

"…were sorry boss...we just thought we could handle it and you both deserved a break and- and…you and the misses store was broken into. We didn't hear about until yall left. We wanted to tell you. We really did but-"

Paul held up his hand for silence.

Jared and sue had followed the voices and saw the interaction Paul had with the people in front of him. it was almost as if he was their leader.

"..was anyone hurt?" Paul asked

"no-no sir."

Jared observed that these people were…submitting to him! their necks were craned, and their eyes were low. Jared heard sue gasp as she saw the interaction.

"..then that's all that matters. As long as the town is safe and no one was threated everything will be ok...but mason Clark... …next time something happens…tell me."

Their was such a power in his voice that it made waves through the air, electrifying and solid.

"Paul?"

All eyes turned to see Jolene with Sarah and Nathan on her hip.

Once again something in the atmosphere moved. The same power…was flowing through the air.

Jolene or Bella. he didn't know what to call her right now. her presence...brought something like a warm blanket and Jared swore he heard Paul purr.

They simply stared at each other until Paul spoke.

"..let's eat."
