Teddy and Family- Chris and Ana

Chapter 22- Prom

A/N: Sorry, incoming rant because enough is enough!

I did say all mistakes were mine, but the Grammar Nazi, as the last part of her review was mirror perfect of that of the grammar police, has decided that my story is worthy of her divine insight too! :P

Cue me rolling my eyes and blowing a spectacular raspberry, but I am going back and changing a few obvious mistakes like Hannah's name as it's a pain when I type it and forget the extra N! :p

Hannah's Daddy is DA, not Andrea's so that's changed. Momma K's name in chapter 4 little things like that but seeing as I write more often than not in the wee hours of the morning it's a given that I'm gonna miss things.

I'm thrilled that you are enjoying the story and everything Soot85, but I honestly don't get why you can't enjoy reading a story without pointing out the mistakes on something that is being written for free and for this writer's sanity, as writing is a form of therapy for me! If you read my bio then you would know my take on getting a proofreader as it's not going to happen ever! Twice burned and all that! Honestly, I'm shocked that you even added the critique at the end of your mostly positive review when your usual MO is to hide behind a guest review. I would take you a hell of a lot more seriously if you actually put yourself out there and posted a story of your own instead of picking on the writers who put themselves out there with their works.

Seriously! Enough with the Grammar critiques when reviewing stories that writers here put up for free! Enjoy the story for what it's there to entertain the reader and hopefully help them escape or decompress from whatever is going on in their lives! There is no such thing as perfect grammar in even published best sellers so GET OVER IT! Sorry about that but critiques like attacking grammar are causing really good writers to take down their stories and go into hiding and it has to stop! We don't care if you're OCD and it drives you insane! Just stop!

Now on with part one of the Prom! Both Ana and Chris's points of view! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I own nothing other than the original characters that are mine and the story idea. (I love to play with my favorite iconic characters but with my AU spin on them. Sorry folks I don't do Canon ever. Like it, love it, hate it…you have been warned ^^).

OoOoO

Ana

He put so much thought into every little detail and did it all in less than a week! The fairy jar lined wildflower petaled path with all the trees and bushes twinkling with fairy lights of their own is absolutely enchanting and so very much with the theme of A Midsummers Nights Dream! My favorite Shakespearian play. He's even got floral topiary depicting various fairies and other enchanting mythical creatures scattered around the grounds and the Giant Marquee. The gardens are aglow with more fairy lights and fairy jars. I love it!

I pause in front of the main entrance of the Marquee giggling happily at the satyr topiary guarding it. "Can I change my mind?" I turn to beam up at Chris and he chuckles.

"Nope." He bends down and kisses me on my nose and I giggle even more. "That ship sailed a while ago and we wouldn't wanna be selfish and keep this magical night all to ourselves now would we, Babydoll?"

"No…It's just so magical and in just a little while this enchanting oasis is gonna be invaded by the chaos that comes with party enthused teenagers who are already all on a high from everything that went down at the Fairmont…" I sigh, as he leads me into the Marquee and my eyes pop wide taking in the ambiance inside it.

"This is just…I mean…it's perfect!" I squeal and happily begin exploring what has to be the most perfect prom and I'm sorry gift ever!

There are huge comfy colorful couches and chairs almost beanbag like, but not, scattered all about the tent in groupings or just randomly. I plop myself down onto one and sink into the most comfortable thing that I've ever sat on in my life! These are all made out of what must be shredded memory foam and not those tiny noisy Polystyrene beads! You just sink into them and never wanna leave! "We are so keeping these!" I try to get up but find that it's not that easy.

"Sam's already informed us that you'd taken a liking to what you were seeing, so it's already arranged." Chris reaches down and scoops me out and sets me back down on my feet again. "There's more than just the chairs to see, baby. We don't have time for you to curl up and take a nap at least not yet anyway. We've gotta host the prom first."

"Ana! Check out the dancefloor!" Andrea, Hannah, and Jose are all busting moves on what has to be something out of what you'd see in Vegas! I didn't even know they were even available to the public yet. It's not your everyday lit dancefloor. This thing has images being projected inside every LED-lit tile. It's amazing you step on one and it changes to another pattern or color. Our classmates are going to lose their minds when they see all of this!

"How?" I stare up at him in disbelief.

"Well, when you hire the best party planner on the West Coast and then give him a limitless budget anything is possible. Though he wanted to strangle me when I kept adding things to the list. He usually does weddings, but I think our Moms promised him first dibs on our weddings, so he was all in after that…" Chris winces when he realizes that he's said a little too much.

"I told you that you basically promised our moms our firstborn! He's gonna want the whole princess castle theme! He's big on that and our wedding will be the event of the year! No! You know what! Screw that! I'll find a way out of what you've done, but from now on any and all of our events will be decided by the two of us that way you won't get tricked into falling for our mothers' traps! There is always a loophole when it comes to any agreements or compromises! Where do you think that I get it from Dad?! No! Mom is even sneakier than me and Grace is the master at subtlety getting her way in the end! When it comes to huge favors like this one there is always a catch!" I'm pacing in front of him and fisting my hands at my sides to stop from pulling my hair out, which I can't because I've got priceless bling sitting on top of it and an intricate braided crown worthy hairdo!

"You did what?!" Andrea stalks over to us with fire in her eyes.

"Oh wow! No wonder this is so out of this world fabulous! You got DT!" Hannah stared at Chris in wide-eyed wonder.

"I knew that the moms were being a little too cooperative about everything!" Paul narrows his eyes at Chris.

"Dude! Not cool! They have us all by the balls now!" Ethan snarls.

"DT is locked in! This is fabulous!" Jose squeals his delight.

"I'm sorry! I only promised to help around the house! I didn't know there was a catch and DT was on the fence about the time constraints surrounding creating all of this! He had to bump an A-list client just to fit me in! I wanted the best and he was the best! Besides, all of you will want your dream weddings and you've got the best wedding planner in the country locked in for you!" Chris was pacing now and pulling at his hair.

A shrill whistle pierces the air and we all turn around to look at who did it.

"I did not slave day in and day out so that it could be ruined by senseless bickering! Chris did you girls!" DT the wizard planner extraordinaire himself is standing at the entrance of the marquee glowering at us, well me. "Especially Ana a solid by throwing you this enchanted wonderland for your prom and the least you can do is suck it up and enjoy! I will do all of your weddings, well Katherine and Amelia I'm on the fence about as they've far from earned it, but the rest of you will just have to suck it up and deal when the times comes! It will be the wedding of your dreams, not your mothers! It's your day, not theirs, so stop being overdramatic over something that is years away from now and enjoy all of this!"

"Sorry…DT…don't have a nervous breakdown…we love it and you for doing this for us…" Hannah, Andrea, Jose, and I talk over each other, as the poor man looks like he's about ready to throttle us any second now dressed all out in his Armani dark navy tux with his hair sticking up every which way because he's been pulling at it a lot.

I think we broke DT is that even possible he deals with clients more needy and demanding than both Kate, Mia, Chris, and our moms combined!

"We'll chill…" Paul, Ethan, and Chris eye him warily. "Promise…"

"Good! Ten minutes and counting before your classmates descend upon you all and you will be all smiles when they arrive!" He shoots us another glare and we all snap a sharp salute at him. "Enjoy your night! I'm off to supervise the prisoners on how to treat all of your guests tonight!" He turns on his heel and stalks off.

"Fiji all-inclusive for a month!" Andrea shouts after him. "Just shoot me a text and I'll set it up!"

He waves his hand in the air in acknowledgment but keeps on down the path.

OoOoO

"I'm sorry!" I blink soulfully up at Chris and he wraps his arms around me for a warm snuggly hug. "I really do love it…"

"You haven't even seen the rest of it yet…" He kisses me on my forehead and then gently takes my hand and leads me over to the ultimate teenage dessert and snack bar.

I'm starving and so is Chris so I grab two plates and load us up on all the yummy goodness while we can. "Hurry guys! Load up your plates before the masses devour it all!" I call over to the others and they eagerly make a mad dash for the snack and dessert bar.

"Relax! There's plenty more than just this to feed the masses!" The Dads are shaking their heads at us because we're making quite a dent on the current offerings up for grabs.

"Service needed at the snack and dessert bar!" I call out between bites of Angus cheeseburger sliders and homemade fries, "Is this the only food station we got?" I look around and spy several other snack, dessert, and beverage stations strategically placed around the tent.

"It's covered, sweetheart." Dad comes over and kisses the top of my head. "Try and focus on having fun and leave everything to us, alright sweet pea."

"I'm sorry it's just that this is the first real event that I've ever hosted on the fly and I don't want anyone to be missing out on anything." I can't shut off being the hostess when it's been ingrained in me since forever by our moms and grans that company always comes first.

"Sweetie, it's not like that at all. We are the ones throwing the Prom for you and your classmates. We have everything under control. It's your party, pumpkin. Enjoy it." Daddy tries to talk me down, but our party or not they are still our guests and I want them to enjoy their prom too.

"Fine. I'll try, but it's hard seeing it that way when it's right in our own backyards."

"Ana…"

"It's your party and you will let loose and have the time of your lives. End of discussion. Jason has the first wave being cleared at the main gate, so all of you are about to be invaded by your very excited, overeager, and hyped up classmates." Dad heads off with the other dads to greet the masses.

"Are we ready to party!" We all turn to gape at Logan and Sam who are now manning the entertainment and Karaoke station and acting as the MC's of the night. "I wanna see the dance team champions show on the dance floor! Show us what you've got ladies!"

"I'm wearing my sparkly Louboutin sneakers, so I won't kill myself, but Han and Rea are both in sky-high heels!" I get up to take our now empty glasses and plates over to the empty side table next to the dessert bar. Then head over to stand in the center of the dance floor.

"Got that covered!" Sam produces two sets of sparkly sneakers that perfectly match their ballgowns. "One ER trip was more than enough for one day and your feet will thank you for it in the morning."

"Thank you, Sam!"

Hannah and Andrea kick off their heels and gladly exchange them to slip on the sneakers.

"We wanted to wear sneakers like Ana, but Kate and Mia bitched at us until we gave in and wore the heels." Hannah happily does a series of Grand Jetés across the dance floor.

"So much better!" Andrea does a series of firebird leaps.

I make sure that I still have enough space to move and proceed to do a series of various versions of fouettés followed by a lightning-fast series of different styles of Pirouettes. "I'm good. Didn't hurt a bit."

Logan cues up Pump it by the Black Eyed Peas and the three of us with Jose joining in go straight into our Nationals winning routine, well as much of it as we can pull off wearing ballgowns anyway.

Our teammates, the ones that aren't in the process of being expelled, or grounded for life, are among the first arrivals, and they happily ditch their dates to race up and join us on the dance floor. The music changes to Beyoncé's Check on It and we really let loose.

OoOoOo

Chris

To say that the backup Prom is a raving success would be a resounding hell yeah!

Logan is actually really good at being the MC and mixing things up to make things not the norm. He's not going by the top 100 billboard list like one would expect him to because he's not a fan of today's music. He loves the 80's and 90's as well as some oldies and everyone seems to be good with just about anything he's playing.

We're happily running Kate and Mia ragged with keeping up with feeding the masses and cleaning up after them. Their hot pink overalls and Converse are taking a beating and the night isn't even nearly over. We're throwing after-prom too, so they'll be crawling by the time it's all said and done.

The rest of us are just having a blast letting loose and having fun. Sam's manning the Karaoke at the minute while Logan takes a break. She's come up with challenges to make it fun. Boys vs Girls best team rendition of their favorite boy or girl band. Best Crooner. Best Duet…and well you get the idea.

The girls are up now killing it singing Destiny's Child's Bootylicious while Kate and Mia, enjoying the fruits of their plastic mean girl rebellion to the fullest, look on. They usually choose the Spice Girls or even the Pussycat Dolls but being out two meant they had to change it up and our classmates are all enjoying the show.

"Thank god for long ballgowns or I'd have to kill nearly all the guys drooling at Ana." I turn to do a survey of the tent and lock narrowed eyes with all the boys leering and drooling at Ana and the girls. Not that it does much good seeing as I'm technically the host of this gig and they know that I'm honor-bound to be on my best behavior, a fact that they are taking full advantage of while they can.

Jose's up with them now and they're singing Wannabe by the Spice Girls.

"They can look all that they like, but that's where it ends." Barney shrugs.

"All that matters is that they're up there having fun…" Paul pats me reassuringly on the shoulder.

"That right there is sending a message to Kate and Mia…" Ethan motions to where the two are watching longingly at their sisters from the entrance of the tent.

"Yeah, well, those two deserve everything that's coming to them and more." I change the subject to the fact that all of us are up next and dreading it. "So we're up next…"

"Meaning three boyband songs…" Barney moans in misery.

"God help us…" Ethan rolls his eyes.

"Well look on the bright side, we won't suck…" Paul shrugs as he looks over the playlist.

"That's…" I start to snark something sarcastic when I hear the beginning of another song this one Eternal Flame by the Bangles and then my baby starts to sing and we lock eyes. My brain shuts down and I'm instantly under her spell.

"Chris has left the building everyone!"

"He's so gone…"

"Well after this he's gotta step up his game…"

"Huh," I barely register the three of them.

"Something equally effective…"

"Dude, the dads are all here he can't go all out or Ray'll geld him."

"It's the only way or she'll take full advantage…"

"Yeah, but will he be coherent enough is the question…"

Ana finishes by blowing me a kiss and it is taking everything that I have in me not to stalk up there sweep her up into my arms and carry her off to the gazebo in the English rose garden to for a serious kissing session.

Singing is the last thing that I wanna do as the guys drag me up with them while our classmates go insane with the wolf-whistling, catcalling, and applause for our girls as they motion for us to take the stage with sassy looks and their beat that guys if you can attitudes.

"It's all yours boys," Andrea smirks at us.

"Beat that if you can." Hannah grins.

"Admit defeat. We are unstoppable." Jose taunts.

"Show us what got, Grey." Ana winks at me as the four of them get settled on the couch right in front of us for a front-row seat.

"Oh, it's on Steele." I flash her a wolfish grin and suddenly she's not all that sassy anymore and has a pretty blush coloring her cheeks.

Sam ques up I Swear by All-4-One. Barney and I lock eyes with our girls. Paul has beyond got Jose's attention, as we easily harmonize our voices to the song and all the girls in the tent are focused on us while the guys are less than pleased. By the end of our first song, we've got our girls, Jose, and all the females in the tent all sighing dreamily at us.

Sam wastes no time queuing up song number two and I grin wickedly at Ana when it's Drowning by the Backstreet Boys. I was expecting something fast like one of their club hits, but this works too. Jose and the girls are gonna be going for cold showers or the nice cool air of the Sound by the time we're done.

All the females in the tent are mesmerized by us serenading our other halves and the guys are glaring daggers at us, but we're not done. Not even close.

Sam's next choice, well, Ray and Andrew are gonna be downing some shots after this one that's if they haven't already started. I do by 98 Degrees starts and Barney and I are all but proposing to our girls, as every song choice by Sam clearly has a theme in mind. Knock our girls flat with romance.

I have not taken my eyes off Ana this entire time and with this one, I'm taking the song to her by leaving the stage pulling her into my arms and singing the song just for her. I end the song and our dance with a gentle kiss and then head back up to the stage with the guys while Ana stares dreamily after me.

Sam's clearly enjoying torturing the dad's because this one isn't even a boyband song it's a trio, but it does fit with the theme that she's chosen for our challenge. All for One starts playing, and you can audibly hear every female in the tent sighing and the males are grumbling profanity under their breaths. I can't help but shake my head when Andrea, Ana, Hannah, and Jose all start fanning themselves as we start to sing. I'm beginning to wonder if our turn is ever gonna end. Ethan's sitting this one out so it's just Paul, Barney, and I. We're really getting into it and belting out the lyrics just like Adams, Stewart, and Sting with our girls or in Paul's case his guy snuggle up beside us like they're declaring hands off mine.

The song ends and before Sam can cue up song number five, Logan is back and ques up something from Usher to completely break the mood. Everyone is up and dancing their asses off to Yeah!

The Dad's and Big Brothers strike again! Sam looks pissed at Logan for ruining her fun, so he'll pay for it later.

It was fun while it lasted. The Dads are nixing Karaoke for the rest of the night.

That's fine because Ana and I are gonna go take a moonlit walk in mom's prized gardens for a while.
