Tatooine, Dune Sea, Western Area
The searing hot suns of Tatooine shone bright as Jaden Korr rumbled across the torrid plains in a shabby old X-34 landspeeder. 3,000 credits for this piece of junk Jaden thought. Many inhabitants of Tatooine would act as though they could not string two sentences together with their primitive vocabulary but as soon as the chance for money came they were smart enough to swindle plenty out of anyone.
"How much further until we arrive at Kenobi's old hut Master Korr?" asked Hadrian
Jaden habitually scratched his chin "It shouldn't be too far."
"Very elaborate Korr." Grace muttered from the back of the speeder
Jaden ignored his fellow Jedi Knight and concentrated on the journey. He had lost his patience with Katar earlier and could not be bothered to continue their petty squabbles. He didn't see her much but the friction was regular and he had found in the past it was best to keep interaction to a minimum.
"Who do you think we'll see when we get there? The bounty hunter you were told about or these mysterious Twi'leks?' Hadrian quizzed
"If we're lucky then all of them so I can get this mission over and done with." Jaden answered "However knowing my luck it'll be as empty as a Wampa cave during hunting season."
Hadrian chuckled at this while her Master simply rolled her eyes.
Silence enveloped the three Jedi for some time as they continued moving over the rocky terrain in search of the legendary Jedi Master's hut. Getting lost in his own thoughts Jaden soon began to feel strange sensations in his mind. An irritating tingling of sorts rustling through his head as though he had an unwelcome visitor trying to make itself at home.
After musing for a few minutes Jaden spoke up "Something isn't right. I can feel it."
Hadrian looked confused while Grace just laughed "We're on a dreadful, sizzling sandpit full of scum and villainy. Nothing is gonna feel right Korr."
Jaden gritted his teeth "It's more than that. The Force is warning me. I can sense danger. I think Tyron might be in trouble."
Hadrian shot up "Trouble? How? Is he not safe at that house?"
Before Jaden could answer Grace jumped in "The best way to make Tyron safe is to get him off this horrible planet and to do that we have to go to the hut and see if these criminals are there."
Jaden felt like snapping at Katar for her lazy attitude however Hadrian soon intervened "I think he would contact us if anything was wrong Master Korr. Perhaps Grace is right and we should just get this mission over with. We're close now and it wouldn't make much sense to go back."
Jaden felt uncomfortable but relented "Very well. But I have a bad feeling about this."
Tatooine, Mos Eisley, Turick Residence
No form of sparring could possibly prepare Tyron for what he was facing right now. Training sabers and combat droids was one thing but to be defending his life and the life of another was a completely different experience.
Tyron had been forced to take a defensive approach as he blocked yet another powerful strike from the male Twi'lek whilst the sister circled, her eyes on Nayla who was hiding behind Tyron, almost stalking her apparent prey.
Wishing to separate the two to even the fight up more Tyron called on the Force for assistance. Raising his hand he sent a blast the sister's way which threw her through the ruined wall and back outside. Savouring a temporary release from two on one combat, Tyron went on the offensive for the first time.
He engaged the Twi'lek, sending two quick jabs his way which were easily parried. Knowing he couldn't out strength him due the difference in size, Tyron decided to try to overwhelm him with speed. He threw a barrage of crisp, deadly strikes at the Twi'lek, feeling the Force flow as he shimmied from side to side. The Twi'lek matched his speed, blocking and parrying every shot that came his way.
The Twi'lek chuckled "If this is the standard of Jedi in the Galaxy then I can understand why no one asks for your help anymore."
Tyron scowled but said nothing, trying to keep focus as he locked blades with his enemy.
"Of course you've seen now what kind of help the Jedi bring. Failure and death.
Despite the constant warnings of Jaden, Kyle Katarn and even Master Skywalker about the importance of self-control and keeping your emotions in check, Tyron was beginning to feel his anger roaming more freely than it should. Breaking out of the saberlock, Tyron tried to take a breath and calm himself before engaging again but the Twi'lek wouldn't allow it. Forcing the young Jedi into another clash of blades, the Twi'lek smiled "Through your weakness, that man died and soon his wife will join him."
Unable to control the rage that those words brought upon him Tyron roared and attacked like never before. He felt the Force inside him but in a different way, a darker way. Empowered like never before, Tyron blasted the Twi'lek outside to join his sister and jumped at both with a slash of his saber.
The siblings both blocked the attack, seemingly startled yet satisfied by Tyron's reaction.
Back in the house Nayla, taking refuge behind much of the rubble, sobbed at the sight of her husband's lifeless body only a few feet away from her. She looked around to see what way she could help the young Jedi and noticed that his holocommunicator had fallen to the ground during the fight.
Wasting little time Nayla scrambled over the debris and picked up the device. After checking it for damage she pressed the activation button and prayed for an answer.
Tatooine, Dune Sea, Ben Kenobi's hut
Exploring the former residence of a famous Jedi Master like Obi-Wan Kenobi was an honour most Jedi would crave however Jaden could not concentrate. His worries for Tyron had not subsided and he felt that leaving him on his own was irresponsible as a Master.
"Wherever our targets have gone to it certainly doesn't seem anywhere close. This place looks abandoned." Hadrian concluded after several minutes of searching the hut for clues.
Jaden frowned but before he could reply he heard his holocommunicator buzzing. Moving swiftly he answered
"Tyron? Is something wrong?"
However he was not greeted by Tyron but a terrified Nayla instead
"Master Korr, please help! Some people are attacking us…fighting your boy. Help!"
At that the contact cut off and without wasting any time Jaden ran out of the hut over to the speeder followed closely by Grace and Hadrian.
"I knew something was wrong. I knew we should have gone back." Jaden growled
"Enough pointless chatter Korr." Grace demanded "Get us back there now."
Too anxious to argue Jaden started the speeder and shot off away from the hut, his mind fully focused on his apprentice.
We'll be there soon Tyron Jaden thought I promise
Tyron jumped back as yet another joint attack came his way from the Twi'lek siblings. His anger had helped him push them back but he felt drained. With sweat on his brow and fear in his mind, Tyron wondered what he could do. He was confident in his abilities to a certain extent but to face two merciless thugs and have someone other than himself to protect was more than he could handle. Both the Force and his own will power would keep him going for so long but fatigue was starting to kick in and the advantage would more likely go to the two enemies rather than him.
"I sense fear in him sister. Perhaps the young Jedi will surrender?" The brother mocked
Tyron snarled back "Not a chance you womp rat. You're gonna pay for what you've done today. I promise you."
At this the siblings smiled at each other then, to Tyron's surprise, deactivated their lightsabers.
"We shall meet again Jedi." The sister hissed
Dumbfounded, Tyron watched as the Twi'leks hastily retreated, eventually going out of his sight.
Too exhausted to follow Tyron turned around to check on Nayla and saw her holding onto her husband's body, sobbing.
The sight of this brought a numb feeling to the young Jedi.
Of course you've seen now what kind of help the Jedi bring. Failure and death
Tyron had failed.
