Wolf: This is it. Finally. The last chapter.

Akami: It's about damn time if you ask me. You've been working on this story forever.

Wolf: I know, and I am happy I can finally close the book on it. Start another yugioh story. I already know which one I'm doing, but it's a secret. Hopefully in the meantime I can post the last chapter of My Love with The Great Detective and put up another chapter to Bakugan Love Story. Plus, I have my Zoids story now but that's on the side of everything.

Akami: Big plans and I'm sure everyone is excited to see it all happen.

Wolf: I know I sure am. Now without further ado! The final chapter to Vampires Love Story!

Akami: Enjoy!

Chapter 20: I Want To Be Like You

In a little house in Domino City, a nice family has been living for the last 19 years. Today was a special day for someone that lived there. It was their birthday. There was no party, just the 3 of them that day and no one else.

"Happy birthday to you!" The two adults had finished singing.

The young boy sitting at the dining room table smiled at his parents as they sang to him. When they were finished, he closed his eyes and blew out the candles on his small cake, making a wish. The boy looked at his cake again, it was round with blue trim around the top and bottom, along with a big blue flower rose on top. He liked flowers on his cakes since he was 7 and always wanted at least one somewhere on his cake. The writing on the cake was written in red and said, 'Happy 19th Birthday Atem'

The young half vampire boy had grown and was almost as tall as his father and only slightly taller than his mother. His hair stood up like theirs in the same star shape. His bangs on each side of his face were the same but more angled. His features had sharpened but not too much, not as much as his dad's face was. His amethyst eyes were as bright as ever though.

"What did you wish for?" His father asked.

Atem chuckled, "Well if I tell you then it might not come true." He told his dad.

"Yea, Yami, everyone knows it's bad luck to tell anyone your birthday wish." Atem's mother said as he picked up the cake so he could cut it in the kitchen.

Yami only blushed and rubbed the back of his head embarrassed. "Oh, come on Yugi. Don't be so hard on this old man."

Yugi chuckled, "Old man?" He laughed harder.

Atem chuckled to, "More like Ancient." He whispered.

That didn't help as Yami's ears still caught that and looked at his son. "Hey now, young man, you better watch it."

Atem only laughed.

Yugi came back with cake for everyone and they all sat down to eat.

"You excited to start college next year?" Yami askes Atem.

"More scared but I am also just as equally excited." Atem answered.

Atem graduated from Domino High last year but was taking a year break before heading off to college. He got accepted to a school in Osaka and was going to be majoring in Archaeology, just like his great-grandfather. History was Atem's favorite subject.

"We'll be worried with you being away from home, but you know we'll always be here for you." Yugi told him.

Atem nodded as he took his last bite of cake.

Yugi collected the plates and put them in the sink.

"You ready for your present?" Yami asked as Yugi walked back in.

Atem nodded. Even though Atem never really asked for anything, his parents always got him something small anyway for his birthday.

Yami pulled out a small square wrapped present with a card on top. Atem took the present and opened the card first. Inside was a gift card to the bookstore in town. Atem loved to read. His eyes lit up at the gift card, he was already thinking of what to buy. He unwrapped the present and it was one of the new books of the series he liked to read.

"Oh wow! I've been wanting this!" Atem looked to his parents. "Thanks mom and dad."

Yami and Yugi smiled, "We have one more present for you, Atem." Yami told him.

"More?" Atem asked confused.

Yugi and Yami nodded. "This one isn't from us though. It's from our friends Wolf and Kat. They should be here soon." Yugi said.

As on cue, the two vampires heard a car outside pull into the driveway.

"There they are." Yami said.

"Come on, Atem, its outside." Yugi added, waving his arm to get his son up from the table.

The three headed to the door. Yugi started to open the door and Yami went and covered Atem's eyes. Yami guided his son out the door and onto the porch. He went to the side by the driveway and stopped at the railing.

"Now Atem." Yugi started. "You know how you just got your license a few months ago?"

"Yea." Atem answers, slightly confused by the question.

"Well we decided to give you this gift as a two in one." Wolf said down below in the driveway.

"A congratulations and birthday gift rolled into one." Kat added.

Yami uncovered Atem's eyes and the boy looked down into the driveway. He saw Kat and Wolf standing by a car. It was a 2018 Ford Mustang.

"Happy birthday, Atem!" Wolf and Kat cheered simultaneously, and they put their hands out to showcase the car.

Atem's mouth went wide in shock. He was not expecting his own car! He looked to his parents with a smile on his face and they both nodded to him. Atem's smile got bigger and he ran down the porch steps and down into the driveway.

Wolf opened the driver side door for him, "Get in there boy. Let's see how you look behind the wheel."

Atem didn't have to be told twice as he jumped into the car seat.

Wolf held out the keys to him. "Start her up!" Wolf said excited.

Yami and Yugi was soon besides the driveway and saw the happy smile on their sons face.

Atem grabbed the keys and put them in the ignition. He turned the key and the car came roaring to life. It was defiantly a loud car, but Atem loved it!

Atem looked to his parents. "Mom! Dad! Can I take it for a drive!?" Atem asked, speaking loud over the engine.

Both his parents laughed at his excitement. "Just around the block." Yami told him.

Atem nodded and closed the driver door. He backed out of the driveway and then took off down the street.

Yugi looked at the female vampires, "The Mustang? Really?" Yugi asked, slightly annoyed.

Wolf chuckled, "You did say to get Atem ANY car the mansions garage. You didn't say specifically which kind it had to be."

Yugi sighed in frustration but wouldn't let it get the best of him because he knew his son was happy. Plus, he would need a car when he went to college.

Atem soon came back and pulled back into the driveway. He turned the car off and jumped out. He went to Wolf and Kat and gave them a big hug.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Atem said repeatedly.

The two laughed

"Your welcome, Atem." Kat said.

The young half vampire pulled out of the hug.

"You guys want some cake?" Atem asked them.

"Yes!" Wolf said.

"No." Kat said at the same time.

Wolf looked at Kat, "Aw come on Kat. Just one slice. Please!" Wolf pleaded.

Kat signed, "Fine. One piece."

All of them headed inside the house and Yugi got the two female vampires a piece of cake. They stayed and chatted for a while before Wolf and Kat had to go back to the mansion.

"Thanks for stopping by guys." Yugi said as he opened the front door for the girls.

"Of course. It was no trouble at all." Kat said she gave Yugi a hug.

Wolf gave him a hug as well, "Besides we are like his Aunts." Wolf chuckled. "Plus, it's always a blessing to have him be with us today." Wolf smiled as she looked at the young half vampire.

Atem started to blush. He knew the story about how werewolves captured him right out of his crib, and everyone came to save him. How he could have died that night in their hideout if it wasn't for the kindhearted nursery wolves who watched over him.

"Thank you again so much for the gift." Atem said to them.

"Of course." Wolf said as she gave him a hug. "If you end up not liking it, there are a bunch more cars at the mansion."

Atem nodded.

They all headed outside to see the two females off.

"Be safe going home you two." Yami told them.

"We will." They both said.

The two walked down the porch steps and as soon as they hit the end of the walkway, they started to run and were gone in a flash.

Atem saw as the two ran off with their vampire speed and he gave a small frown. He may have been half vampire, but he couldn't run that fast. He wished he was full vampire. That was his birthday wish. It has been ever seen he was a young teenager. He didn't want to get old or be older than his parents. He didn't want to go through all that. Nor to break his parent's heart's either. To have them watch him get old and die. Sure, he would live a lot longer than a normal human, about double, but in no time at all he would die. It made him sad thinking about his parents looking at him in a casket. He was their son, the only one they would ever have. He was a miracle. To be alive and be given life. He thanks all the Gods.

Atem was going to ask them. Tonight. He didn't want to be half vampire any longer. Plus, maybe some of the other vampires would finally treat him as one of their own in the clan and not some outcast. Especially Master Dartz. Atem knew that the Master was never fond of him from the start.

He got out of his thoughts when his name was being called.

"Atem?" Yugi called to him, "Atem?" Yugi walked up next to his son and touched his arm, it seemed to snap him out of his thoughts fully. "You ok son?" Yugi asked concerned.

Atem looked at his mom and gave a small smile. "Yea, I'm fin. Just a lot of excitement that's all." He chuckled.

Yugi smiled. "I can imagine, you got a very good gift today I say. Now come inside. It's going to be a cold one tonight; I don't want you getting sick." Yugi said to him.

Atem nodded and headed inside the house. He told his parents he was heading up to his room to pack some stuff for college. He headed into his room, leaving the door ajar and laid on his bed. He lied when he said he was going to pack some stuff. He wanted to hear his parent's downstairs. His hearing was still pretty good for being only half vampire.

Yugi sat on the couch besides Yami, who was sitting just watching the news. Yugi snuggled up next to his husband who put an arm around his shoulders.

"Our son is another year older. It's hard to believe." Yugi said, breaking the silence.

"I know. Soon he'll be older than us." Yami said with a chuckle.

"Yami your over 5,000 years old." Yugi reminded his husband with a laugh.

Yami gave a small laugh as well. "Yea I know, but I'm still only 20 years old and so are you." Yami pointed out.

Yugi looked down and played with the end of Yam's shit. "Our son, older than us? That's scary." Yugi looked up at Yami. "Do you think he'll ever want to become full vampire?"

Yami looked down at Yugi. "That's for him to decide love. We talked about this already. Many times, before. We would let Atem decide for himself when he would want to fully turn. Weather that be a year from now or 20 years from now. It's not for use to decide or force onto him."

Yugi sighed, "I know. It's just hard, I guess. Atem's old enough to make his own decisions. He'll know when the time is right."

The convention ended and went back to silence.

Atem still laid on his bed, looking up at the ceiling lost in his own thoughts. He heard all that his parents talked about downstairs, it just made bis decision all the clearer. Sure, he wanted to live his life to the fullest, but to not have his parents with him would be hard. Not only on them, but him as well. He didn't want that guilt on his shoulders.

Atem wanted to learn to hunt. To be responsible for himself as a vampire. A full-blooded vampire. To learn the ways. He never had to fully follow the rules and ways of the vampire clan because he had no reason to. Mainly because he was halfblooded, and the other reason was his parents always looked out for him. Took care of his needs. He was getting older and he felt the time was right.

Atem jumped out of his bed and walked out of his room. He got halfway down the steps and looked to see his parents still on the couch watching tv. They heard him in the steps and looked over at him.

"Mom. Dad. Can we talk?" Atem asked them.

"Of course, son. Come on down here." Yami said waving him down.

Atem went down the rest of the steps as Yami turned the tv off. Atem stood in front of the TV so he could be in front of his parents.

"So, what's on your mind sweetie?" Yugi asked him.

Atem took a moment to find his words. He took a small breath in.

"So, I have been thinking a lot lately. Mainly the future. Not college because I still really want to go, but further into the future." Atem took a pause. "Ever since I was younger, I knew what I wanted. I wanted to be like you guys. I wanted to join you in your night hunts, but you never let me because I wouldn't be able to take down an animal myself. Go to your meetings, but never was allowed because I'm not a full part of the clan. Go on patrols like dad and cousin Seto. Learn to defend myself, but I couldn't take classes with humans because you'd be afraid id hurt them. Learn to take care of myself. Be as strong as you are." Atem stopped and took a moment to control his emotions, but a tear was already falling down his face.

Yugi got concerned as he listened to his son's words and saw the emotion on his face. "What are you trying to say, Atem? Don't be scared."

Atem took a breath and let it out slowly. "I want to be a vampire. A full blood." He finally let out.

It was out. Finally. A weight seemed to list off the young half vampire's shoulders.

Yami and Yugi looked at each other after they heard their sons request.

"Is that what you truly want?" Yami made sure.

Atem nodded, not trusting his voice.

"May we ask, why now?" Yami wondered.

Atem took a moment to think out his words. "Because I want to be like you. I don't want to get any older. I don't want you guys to see me get old. I don't want you to get upset when you see me if I died. I'm your only son. I know you went through a lot to have me. Plus, you went through hell with everything else when dad said he got a human pregnant, especially with Dartz. I also know mom lost his humanity because of me the day I was born. You still went through so much to protect me either way, keep me safe. Rescued me from the werewolves when no one else would. I don't want your efforts to be for nothing. For you to do all this for me just for me to die in the end. I don't find that fair." Tears started to fall down the boy's face, he couldn't hold them back any longer. "That's why now. Why I want to be full blooded. To stay by your side." Atem finished as more tears fell.

Yugi stood up from the couch, walked around the coffee table and wrapped his arms around his son. Atem accepted the embrace and wrapped his arms around Yugi and put his face in his mom's shoulder.

"Shh. Its ok my boy." Yugi whispered to him.

"We understand." Yami said as he stood up. "We wanted you to come to that understanding. We just wanted you to make that decision for yourself." Yami continued to say as he walked around the coffee table. Yami laid a hand on Atem's shoulder and the boy lifted his head. "Do you want us to do it tonight or would you rather wait till morning?" Yami asked him.

Atem pulled away slightly from Yugi's hug as he looked at his father still, "I'd like you to do it tonight. While it's still my birthday." He paused and looked down with a small smile. "It's my wish after all."

Yami smiled at his son. "Your wish was to be turned?"

Atem nodded.

"Well we wanted you to make that choice." Yugi said. "I unfortunately didn't have that choice, but I wouldn't take that day back for anything." Yugi smiled at Atem.

The boy blushed at his mom's statement.

"Did you want me to do it?" Yami questioned.

Atem looked up at Yami, "Actually." He paused and looked at Yugi. "I want you to do it mom."

Yugi was surprised by the answer. "Me?" He looked to his husband. "I've never had to turn anyone before. I had no need to." Yugi said worried.

Yami put a hand on Yugi's arm. "Don't worry. Atem is half vampire, he only needs a little bit to turn full blooded."

"But how will I know to stop?" Yugi asked softly. "I don't want to hurt him."

"I'll tell you. You have nothing to fear." Yami assured him.

"Mom if you don't want to, I'll understand." Atem said.

"No. No. I can do it." Yugi replied quickly. "As long as you trust me. I can do it."

Atem nodded. "I'll always trust you mom."

"Let go upstairs then. You'll be more comfortable in your bed." Yami suggested.

Atem nodded and all three of them headed towards the stairs. Atem ran up the steps, skipping every other step and into his room. Yugi grabbed Yami's hand and stopped him on the second step. Yami looked down at his husband in confusion.

"What's wrong, Yugi?" Yami asked him concerned.

Yugi stayed silent for a moment, looking down and away. When he looked up at Yami, tears were falling.

"Why are you crying my love?" Yami was worried what had upset him.

Yugi shook his head. "Tears of joy. I'm just happy Atem finally made his decision."

Yami smiled and kissed Yugi on the forehead. "Indeed. And it will be up to us to train him to be a good full blood."

Yugi smiled through his tears. "You taught me. Atem has the best teacher there is."

"Two of the best." Yami corrected his husband.

Yugi nodded and the two continued up the stairs and into their son's room. Atem was already sitting on his bed waiting patiently for his parents. You could see that he was excited, but he was also a little nervous. He was finally going to be a full-blooded vampire.

"You ready son?" Yami asked him.

Atem took a breath to pause and let it out slowly. He gave a stern nod. "I am." He answered.

"Lay down then." Yami told him.

Atem did as told and laid down on his bed with his head on his pillow. He tried to keep himself calm and his muscles loose.

"Now when you first get bitten, you'll be put in a deep sleep by the venom. During that time your body will start making the changes it needs. With you being half vampire, your body should change at a fast pace." Yami explained.

"I understand." Atem said once his father finished.

"Let's start then. Close your eyes son." Atem did as instructed. "Now stay as relaxed as possible. Don't try to flinch when you get bit either, I want you to be safe just in case." Yami looked at Yugi. "You ready?" Yugi gave an unsure nod but walked up next to Atem's bed. "Stay focused on the bite and just let the venom flow. Don't suck on the wound, just stay in one spot." Yami instructed.

Atem opened his eyes to look at Yugi. The boy reached up and grabbed Yugi's hand. "Don't be nervous mom. You'll do ok." Atem said to him with a smile.

Yugi smiled back at his son and kissed the boy's hand that was holding his. Atem let go of Yugi hand and he closed his eyes again.

Yugi leaned down close to his son's neck and took a pause. He was worried about hurting him, but Yugi had to put faith in himself as much at Atem did. Yugi let out his fangs and bit down onto the boy's neck. Yugi did as Yami told him and stayed focused to not suck out any of the blood. Soon he felt something being released from his fangs and entered Atem's body. Vampire venom. Yugi stayed there for a few seconds to let it do what it needed to.

"That should be enough Yugi." Yami said.

Yugi slid his fangs out and closed the wound. Yugi almost gagged at the small taste of blood. He was so used to animals' blood that human's blood just tasted awful to him.

Atem's breath was now slow and deep. He was now in that "sleep" state Yami had mentioned. They didn't know how long Atem would be out in the state, but the two stayed by the bedside and would wait for Atem to awaken.

Yugi sat on the chair at Atem's desk that was next to his bed, while Yami leaned against the desk. The two sat in silence for a short time.

"You did a good job, Yugi." Yami told him, breaking their silence.

"Thanks. I guess. I just hope I don't have to do it again." Yugi admitted.

Yami placed his hand on Yugi's shoulder. "You shouldn't, but at least you know how to now. Just in case."

Yugi nodded and looked back to Atem's form on the bed. He reached over and held his son's hand. Just to let him know they were still there.

A half hour had soon passed and Atem was still not awake yet.

"Is he ok Yami?" Yugi asked.

"He's ok. I see him breathing still." Yami answered.

"What if I gave him too much?" Yugi thought out load in a panic.

"Yugi, it will be ok. Remember what Miko said when he was first born, he had more human blood than vampire. It takes a little time." Yami reminded him.

Yugi nodded and calmed a little.

Another 15 minutes went by before Yami saw Atem's fingers twitch.

"Yugi." Yami whispered to get his attention. "Look." Yami pointed at Atem's hand.

Yugi then saw the fingers twitching. Atem was finally waking up. Atem's eyes started to blink open. Once fully opened he saw his ceiling and then took a moment to look around.

"Atem?" Yami said, getting close to the bed.

"How do you feel, sweetie?" Yugi asked, standing up from the desk chair.

Atem slowly started to sit up in bed. He felt around his body, patting himself. "I don't feel that different." Atem placed a hand on his chest. "Oh yea. I don't have a heartbeat no more." He was a little saddened by that.

"It will be ok son. You may not feel that different but believe me you are." Yami told him.

"You'll teach me how to hint and stuff, right?" Atem asked.

"Of course, we will." Yugi answered.

"We'll teach you everything you need to know before you head off to college." Yami added.

Atem smiled at his parents. He swung his legs off the bed and stood up in front of his parents. He reached his as out and gave them both a hug.

"Thank you." Atem whispered. "I never have the fear of losing you now."

Yami and Yugi both hugged their son back. Tears of joy started to fall down Yugi's face again.

"We love you, Atem." Yugi said.

"No matter what." Yami told him.

Atem just hugged back harder and a tear fell from his eye. "I love you guys too."

Atem's was finally a full vampire. He could finally be accepted into the vampire clan. He didn't have to hide who he was anymore. He felt almost free. He could live the rest of his life with his parents by his side without worry of aging or death. He may be off to school in no time, but he knows his parents will always be there to help and guide him through tough times. No matter what.

The vampire family would always stay together. They would face any challenge that came their way. As long as they were together, nothing was going to tear them apart. Ever again.
