Six am rolled around too soon for the anyone in the apartment to be happy. Kim rolled over and slammed her hand on the alarm clock on the nightstand. Charlie reached over and clicked the on the lamp letting some light come into the gloomy room. It was the first day of school and of course it was raining. Kim day up and looked at her phone to already see a have a good day text from Jared, he was already out on a double patrol today. Charlie got up out of bed and immediately went to the bathroom to pee and start makeup. She had to do a double take in the mirror though since she forgot she dyed her hair late last night. She forgot what she looked like with her natural black hair minus the two purple stands she kept in the front. She quickly shook off the shock and started getting ready. She brushed her hair out before leaving half down and put up half up into space buns. She then put on mascara, eyeliner and concealer to hide the bags under her eyes. Once she was happy with her look she opened the door for Kim to swoop in and start the shower up.

"I'll make up some coffee and your books together. Just take your time. I'll be with you all day," Charlie put aside the fact that her bones were still hurting because today was about getting Kim through her nerves. Charlie put on the coffee and took out two travel cups for them.

"Take these and here, your phone is blowing up," Denny made his presence aware when he laid the phone on the counter along with two ibuprofen. Charlie took them dry and checked her phone. Three missed texts.

Have a great day.

Please keep an eye on Kim, Jared is freaking out.

Don't forget your meeting after your classes today, there was a night one on that schedule that'll fit your time frame and not bother your work. Anyways, I have to get back to work.

"Denny, you want anything?" Charlie asked while typing back a quick message. I got her covered, I'll go to the meeting tonight. I'll text you if I need anything. Have a good day.

"No, I'll grab something on campus. I messed up a project and need to get to the art building like asap to fix it. The boys don't have a class until ten today. Call me if you need me? I'll drop everything," Denny gave Charlie a kiss on the head before heading out the door. Charlie went down the hallway to start getting ready. She pulled on a pair of ripped black jeans with a lavender crop top. She grabbed her own books and stuffed them into her little mermaid backpack that she's owned since she was five, it was worn and old but it's the only thing she carried with her all these years thanks to the best foster parents she ever had. Charlie always thought that they would have adopted her if it wasn't her them dying in a hours fire. Luckily, or maybe unlucky, for her she was in school at the time when child services showed up to break the news. Charlie was pretty sure that's when her life started going down hill. Charlie heard the shower cut off and quickly got all of Kim's books together and shoved them into her yellow backpack. She was going to make today go as smooth as possible for her.

"What should I wear?" Kim asked walking into the room seeing what Charlie was in.

"Jeans and a hoodie is fine. I'd wear Jareds, it could give you confidence," Charlie told her as she grabbed her backpack and the flannel from Quil before leaving the room. She went back and started getting their coffee ready. She put in the cups along with the coffee before some vanilla creamer. She closed the kids on the cups when Kim came down the hallway with her backpack. She had chosen to wear her sneakers, jeans and his hoodie like Charlie had suggested.

"Want some toast? I'm not hungry but I can make you something," Charlie offered but Kim shook her head no. Both of their stomachs hurt.

"Are you ready then?" Kim asked while making sure she had everything in her bag and her phone in her back pocket.

"Ready as I'll ever be. Fingers crossed I don't stay puking all day like I did yesterday," Charlie spent most of yesterday in the bathroom with Quil yesterday puking while he rubbed her back.

"Hood up, it's raining," Charlie told her as they took the elevator down. Usually she skateboarded to class but she thought she'd be nice and just walk with Kim in the rain today. She was gonna have to teach the girl to skateboard to make things easier. They walked to campus with their heads down and hurried into their first class, calculus.

"Why we would need this for vet is beyond me. We do our chemistry classes next and then we're done for the day though," Charlie sighed as she pulled out her math book and notebook with a pencil. Charlie wouldn't ever admit it but she was actually really good at math and it was probably her favorite class. Chemistry she would always blow something up at least once a semester and get kicked out for a week. Biology she was now just in a review course that would go over everything she learned for the past four years to get her ready for her finals in April.

"I was never good at math. Quil actually always helped me," Kim whispered to Charlie as she took a look around the room as more students piled in, all just as soaked as they were. She then spotted Russell from the party the other night and gripped Charlie's hand all of a sudden.

"Ow, what is wrong?" Charlie asked while trying to shake her hand off of hers since she was trying to copy what the professor was writing on the board.

"He's here," Kim muttered while pointing at the idiot who just taken a seat all the way in the back.

"Yeah, he's majoring in engineering but between you and me he has failed this class three times so I really don't know if you can call it majoring," Charlie rolled her eyes and flipped Russell off with a grin. He just ducked his head down low and started scribbling in his own notebook. For the next two hours they listened and took a pop quiz on what they know. Charlie of course knew everything and aced it easily where Kim got a 65%.

"It's not failing," Charlie told her as they exited the classroom to start heading over to their chemistry class.

"Not really passing either," Kim didn't want to feel defeated on her first day of classes so she just shoved the text in her backpack and held her head up high.

"I'll help you. The twins can help too. Believe it or not they're actually smart," Charlie took the last sip of her now watered down coffee before grabbing hers and Kim's to wash them out in the bathroom.

"You. Your friends with that bitch," Kim whipped around to see Russell walking fast towards her. She stood frozen. She could see the bruises on his face better now that the boys left him with.

"Um...Charlie?" Kim has no protection right now with him standing in front of her. Not Charlie, not Denny and not Jared.

"Yeah, that bitch. You better get smart quick and stop hanging with her before she turns you into a junkie too. I bet your little boyfriend won't approve of that," Russell spit on Kim's shoes before walking away. She was trying to hold back tears when Russell shriked.

"Don't you dare talk to her like that you entitled asshole or so help me god I'll strangle you with my own hands!" Charlie shouted at him as Kim noticed the coffee cup laying on the ground beside him and how he was rubbing the back of his head. He turned to glare but didn't say anything this time, he just walked away.

"He is the absolute worse," Kim mumbled to herself as she followed Charlie to get the coffee cup and head over to the science building. They stopped at the coffee stand to get waters in their cups and also napkins to clean off Kim's shoes.

"I'm sorry," Charlie told her as she finished wiping any spit left on the sneakers.

"I should have defended you," Kim's face was flush and she wouldn't meet Charlies eyes as they continued on their way.

"I don't need you to. Trust me, this isn't your issue. Russell is just some dick that thinks girls should fall head over heels for him instantly. He needs to learn that not all girls loves an egotistical prick," Charlie finished her rant as they entered the chemistry room and took a seat in the back at a lab station. They both stayed silent as they worked through the next two hours of writing and getting reacquainted with lab equipment. Once finished they both were finally starving and stopped at the grilled cheese food truck on the way back to the apartment.

"I never thought I'd buy a grilled cheese from a truck," Kim laughed as she took another bite.

"Quil was the same way. Next is getting Jared to eat from one," Charlie giggled as she nibbles on the crust. She wasn't as hungry as she thought but she knew she had to eat because she knew coffee on an empty stomach was never good.

"I need a nap though before my meeting and work," Charlie told her roommate as they entered their apartment and walked down the hallway. Charlie set an alarm for 5pm. The meeting was at six and work was eight so she would have plenty of time. Kim went ahead and lounged on the couch reading a book from Charlie's bookshelf while enjoying the quietness of the apartment for once. Until her phone dinged at least.

Hey, how'd Charlie do today? Jared still on patrol, I got first break. How'd your classes go? Is she going to that meeting? Anymore puking?

Kim rolled his eyes, Jesus this man was whipped. Kim sat her book down before typing a response back.

Charlie did fine, even got her to eat. She's napping now before meeting and work. Tell Jared just to text me when he can, we had a run in with dickhead from party but Charlie took care of it. Anyways, classes went fine thanks for asking.

Kim say her phone down before curling up on the couch and drifted into a nap herself because before she knew it Charlie was shaking her awake. Charlie was dressed like earlier but now had a duffle bag on her shoulder and another cup of coffee.

"I have to go to my meeting and then work. Want to come? You're gonna need a job right? There's a cocktail waitress spot open and you walk out nightly with cash," Charlie didn't give Kim much of a chance before she grabbed her hand and pulled her up. Kim groggily grabbed her phone before falling her out into the world for who knows what.
