The blank void left in Kingdom Hearts wake quickly dissipated, and everyone found themselves upon a lush and verdant field. Not only were the survivors of the final battle there, but also those who were lost in the invasion such as Hayner, Mickey and Riku's mother. Most surprising however was the presence of lost union members, hearts freed and returned to human form. Like a sweeping wave the revelation of their salvation swept over all those in attendance, and cries of celebration rang out all across the land.

Sora, sitting upon a stump at its center, laughed as he watched his friends scan their surroundings in confusion. Hearing him Riku and Kairi rushed over to embrace their beloved friend, followed shortly by all of those whose lives he touched one way or another; Including the now ecstatic Ava and joyous Aced. The gathering was growing so dense in fact that the young man was having trouble finding room to breathe. He was given a reprieve as the crowd parted to let in an ashamed Yen Sid, who apologizes to Sora for his misplaced Ire; and begs for the boy's forgiveness. Sora being who he is doesn't give a second thought before shaking the sorcerer's hand, asking him to "don't worry about it".

Last amongst the collective to greet the boy were two old men; Luxu, restored to his true form, and the very tired but amused Master of Masters. Despite everything that had happened Riku and Kairi were quick to welcome their old friend with open arms. And although Luxu hated it at first, Sora did not hesitate to do the same to him.

An hour later, when reunions and festivities had died down, the two Soras went off on their own. One final meeting between the most unlikely savior and the fabled Master of Masters.

The man asked Sora about what exactly happened, what kind of wish lead to such an unexpectedly happy outcome. The youth in turn explained that he wished for Kingdom Hearts to save everyone in the way it thought best (essentially handing control back to the collective conscious inherent in those hearts brought together). Utilizing its immense capacity for imagination, the collective that is Kingdom Hearts fashioned a whole new universe from scratch, one far removed from the old order and its cycle. After that it was just a matter of "displacing" everyone from the old universe and drawing them to this new one.

Sora gave his former senior a smug grin after explaining all of this; who in turn maintained that his plan was better with no small measure of feigned indignation. This façade only lasted but a moment however, and both men let loose in carefree laughter.

Sobering himself, the now aged hero reminded his former self that there would be consequences for his actions. "If I've learned anything from my mess of a life, it's that there's always going to be someone out to ruin your day". The young hero Sora, once more the optimist, is unfazed by this warning. After all, if HIS adventures have taught him anything, it's that any danger can be overcome if he has friends by his side.

Master Sora smiled sadly at this, and declared that he might be right about that. But whatever dangers come up from this point onward, he and Luxu will have to take a hard pass. Naturally the islander is surprised to hear this and asks for the reason behind it.

In short the two veteran meddlers of fate have just become too old for this game. They gave up their humanity over and over again for gambles that were only won by the wildest of chance. Now, both of the keyblade vagabonds just want to plant roots again, maybe even try that mythical thing called "retirement" for a little while.

"Besides" the former master continued. "This world's all you kid. That means that first dibs on adventures are all yours".

Off in this distance Riku and Kairi are calling for Sora. With one final nudge from the old man, accompanied by a promise to not go disappearing into thin air again, Sora joyfully races off to meet them.

As for the former Master of Masters, he can do nothing but smile with all his heart. It has taken what has very nearly been forever, but his long journey had finally come to an end.

Sora was home to stay.

A/N:

Aaand done! After a year of work my first multi-chapter work is (technically) finished! And I was able to finish just in time for Re:Mind no less.

I know that it has been a long time coming, and I have probably lost most of you along the way, but I want to thank you all for sticking with me. And true to the Kingdom Hearts format I intend to release some secret reports and true ending. But for now, I need a break to enjoy the canon dlc for a change.

As always, thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to being of service in the future. Until next time.
