The Next Day

It was time for Moegi turn to showcase her skills and just like her friends before her she was excited to show her masters just how much she had learnt. However she knew that she would have to showcase her skills not only as a Medic but also as a fighter and that would be difficult at best especially with the opponent she had chosen for herself. Sometimes she wondered why she had taken on her master's Nindo of never giving up and never going back on her word. Moegi started walking towards Shikamaru and said "Shikamaru sensei I would like to choose you as my opponent in this battle, will you do me the honor of allowing me to show you how much I have grown?"

Shikamaru looked at Moegi for a second before smiling and saying "let me guess you want to test your Genjutsu skills against me, this should be interesting if even half of what Kurenai sensei says is accurate this will be a very interesting matchup. Normally I would decline saying it's a drag but since it's you I will accept the challenge so then what are the rules?"

Moegi smiled and said "as a kid one of my favorite games to play was tag, so I decided for my battle I wanted to play that game again but in a different and more entertaining way." She then opened a scroll and removed six large balls and gave three of them to Shikamaru. "The premise is very simple Shikamaru sensei we will each stick three balls on our person, it cannot be hidden or concealed. The purpose of the game will be to burst your opponents balls while at the same time defending yours from being attacked and damaged. First one to damage or capture all three balls wins."

Shikamaru nodded his head thoughtfully and said "so these balls will take on the roles of valuable information that is needed to be retrieved from enemy hands, am I correct, nut something tells me that not all is Moegi Chan?"

Moegi grinned and said your right Shikamaru sensei, but those are surprises to come in the battle, you wouldn't want to spoil the surprise now would you?"

With that said the two combatants took their position on the battlefield as they started their match, however what was different was that unlike other battles this battle went a bit more slowly with both master and student using long range attacks to incapacitate the other and test the other's reaction timings; it was almost like a chess match between two experienced players, heach testing the waters before formulating their battle plans.

Shikamaru although reluctant at first soon got into the match when he realized the unique challenge he would face in Moegi, though still young, she had trained under Kunoichi such as Ino and Kurenai and had mastered not only the knowledge of the Shinobi arts but had inherited their cunning and sometimes manipulative nature combined with her vast amount of medicines and poisons she had picked up from Shizune and to top all that off she had learnt how to make improvisation a weapon and an art from the Master himself Naruto Uzumaki. As he unsheathed his chakra knives he inherited from Asuma sensei e smiled inwardly as he realized just how much of a challenge this could be and judging from the looks on the looks of the gathered spectators it seemed they had reached a similar conclusion.

Moegi had put her plan into action immediately, like Sakura sensei before her Moegi had also learnt how to build up chakra in her fists and release it all at once; however she employed a slightly different style, instead of channeling it into her fist she channeled it into her legs and turning it into destructive force she used it for speed. She knew that Shikamaru sensei would try to ensure her in his shadow possession jutsu. Also the speed would serve a secondary purpose, one she hoped that Shikamaru sensei wouldn't notice until it was too late.

Tsunade was amazed at the level of control Moegi showed in using the chakra to increase her speed, and commented as such to Kurenai who smiled in pride and said "indeed Hokage sama, it is however this is not just pure chakra skill it also combines Taijutsu and Fuuinjutsu as well. When Tsunade seemed confused Naruto explained "its real simple Baa chan, you see when the three gaki completed their tutelage under me, Moegi and Udon wanted me to teach them an A rank Jutsu just like I had taught Konohamaru the Rasengan.

I taught Udon the Swamp of the Underworld technique, as for Moegi she had something different in mind; she wanted to master the Lightning Relase Chakra mode. Unfortunately having an affinity for Earth type chakra she was unable to master the technique, not to mention her body would not be able to take the strain of the Jutsu for long, so after a lot of research and trial and error, I came across some notes from Ero Sennin who had tried to create a Fuuinjutsu seal to replicate the effects of your chakra enhanced strength without the necessary Chakra control. But in the end he decided not to use it because he found it took too much time to prepare beforehand and the results were not worth it. However after studying the seal a bit I found a loop hole, by combing the principles of the Five Elements Unseal technique and Lotus techniques used in Taijutsu It could be done.

So I decided to help her Learn the Lotus techniques of Taijutsu which allowed her to increase her body's endurance, and since she already had the chakra control required to utilize your ferocious strength in the first place, all it took was her learning to channel the chakra through the modified version of the Five Elements Unseal technique to her legs so that it could utilize the chakra consumption better, almost like an engine consuming fuel."

"Naruto kun I am very impressed at the Ingenuity you have displayed in order to help your young student achieve greater, I'm not sure who I'm more proud of you or Moegi chan for managing to master a Fuuinjutsu technique that even a shinobi like Kakashi Kun has trouble performing."

Naruto just grinned and said "what can I say Shizune nee chan, I never go back on my word that has always been my Nindo, and to be honest all I did was find a loophole, Moegi did all the hard work, and it's now paying off. He then pointed to the two sparring shinobi it seems Moegi chan has scored first blood and captured one of Shikamaru's red balls."

As the gathered Jonin turned their attention to the match indeed it seemed as Moegi had indeed scored first blood, by putting on a great burst of speed she managed to evade Shikamaru's shadows and captured one of the red balls in her hands and was grinning madly.

"Alright Shikamaru sensei here is another twist to the game "now that I have scored against you another rule comes into effect, in order for either of us to capture a ball, we must each use a different technique than the one used before and are unable to repeat any of our previous moves."

Shikamaru was momentarily stunned but realized that Moegi was simulating a real situation and in real solo mission the same technique rarely worked twice because the enemy was now on guard and alert to any deception thus it made sense to change tactics. He smiled and said "very good Moegi chan I see that Kurenai sensei's teachings did not go to waste, very well then let's see what we can each come up with."

As the second round started, Shikamaru changed tactics and instead of using his shadows to bind her, decided to another technique and decided to use a combination of Taijutsu techniques and hand to hand combat in order to keep her occupied and create an opening to steal one of red balls.

Hinata turned to Ino and said "That is an interesting Taijutsu style he is using, it seems very similar to Muay Thai, is it not. I never knew that Shikamaru was a practitioner of Muay Thai, isn't it a very contact heavy sport and from what I remember its one that requires a certain amount of ruthlessness, which Shikamaru to the best of my knowledge lacks."

Ino smiled at her friend and said "while your right about the Muay Thai martial art , it does require a certain amount of ruthlessness to be effective, what Shikamaru is practicing is actually a Taoist martial art called the Taoist Three Forces Animals. The Taoist Three Forces Animals are three unique combat martial arts taught as one complete combat system. This is a mixed martial art study and it combines the rare Kung Fu styles of Spider, Ghost Bat, and The Golden Rat.

This powerful mixed martial art system is based on the Taoist Three Forces Philosophy, and masters high level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, chin na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery. Interestingly enough its a Kung fu style that is very difficult to master, that is why it's only taught to select Top students at the Fire Temple, However we of the Nara-Yamanaka and Akimichi clan have a special relationship with the Fire Temple monks and as such we have each learnt one of the Three Styles respectively."

Kurenai then interrupted the two Kunoichi by Sakura who said "hey guys pay attention I think Moegi's body language just changed drastically, I think this match is about to get a bit more interesting. Kakashi who had his Sharingan covered, was closely watching Moegi in the match decided to uncover his Sharingan, in order to understand exactly what was about to happen. Kurenai noticed this and smiled, "well now Kakashi, Moegi should be flattered, and to think that the great Copy ninja would wish to copy her jutsu, but I'm afraid it's not something easily copied."

At this the other gathered Jonin seemed to also notice a change in the environment and noticing the signs extended their senses as they realized the subtle change in their chakra as the Genjutsu started to take effect, interrupting their own chakra flow they were able to easily break the Genjutsu.

But were suddenly confused when they saw that both Moegi and Shikamaru seemed to have managed to steal one of their opponent's red Balls, Moegi seemed crest fallen and confused as well. "But how, I thought my Trap was perfect how did you manage to break through?"

The other Jonin chuckled at Moegi's seemingly childish reaction, and although they knew what had happened they decide to let Shikamaru explain it instead. Shikamaru was grinning but seemed proud at the same time "great work Moegi Chan, I must admit that I did not anticipate that level of mastery of Genjutsu to such a degree, but to be quite honest I only realized at the last minute when you thought you had won. The Genjutsu in itself was very effective. Instead of having it affect me like a typical Genjutsu, you affected my surroundings.

You were well aware that I am a long range fighter and that by deciding to face you in close combat I was taking a risk and you capitalized on said risk by deciding to make minor changes to the environment while at the same time reading my body language in order to use my own strength against me and make use more of my Stamina.

While changing the environment to make it seem like we fighting on uneven ground and there were many obstacles to avoid, however at the last moment your smile gave it away and I realized it was a trap, but it seemed you had already acquired your prize. " he said pointing to the red ball in Moegi's hand.

Moegi was not mollified however and said "damn I should have paid more attention; I trained like crazy in order to fool you with Genjutsu because I knew it would be a difficult job." She sighed and said "at least I still fooled you somewhat, but I still lost my red ball."

Shikamaru nodded and said "that's the spirit Moegi Chan now then lets continue our battle shall we?"

while the battle once again raged "Tsunade turned to Kakashi as if waiting for his verdict "It's an interesting concept no doubt and much less difficult than affecting the opponent directly, however it has its disadvantages, it takes quite a while to setup, evident from the fact that Moegi had been setting the trap since the match begin, and while it takes little chakra to create it does require a lot of concentration to maintain and it's not a Jutsu an average user can cast, seeing as it requires precise control and concentration, in fact this type of Genjutsu would be much more suited for medical Shinobi who are uniquely suited for this type of Jutsu, all in all I would consider it a Solid B Rank Genjutsu."

While they were discussing the Genjutsu it seemed Moegi had an ace up her sleeve, because suddenly Shikamaru was lying on his back coughing violently and spitting up blood. While Moegi stood smiling over him, as she deftly plucked the last ball from his person. Thereby ending the match in her favor, and winning by a landslide.

5 minutes later

Shikamaru was sitting up on the Infirmary bed, looking a bit pale and worse for wear but otherwise healthy. Moegi had already prepared an antidote beforehand as she administered it to Shikamaru. He looked at her with a confused expression. Moegi just laughed and hugged him tight and said "thanks for being such a good sport sensei, to answer your unanswered question yes, the balls were booby trapped, they were coated with a common but very effective type of poison that when entering the user's blood stream through an open wound that attacks the user's chakra network and causes paralysis and death in an hour, however for obvious reasons I modified and diluted it greatly so as to only cause weakness and intense coughing up of blood."

Shikamaru nodded his head in defeat but his eyes spoke volumes, he was no doubt proud of his former student "well done Moegi chan, you have improved greatly and I am proud of your growth."

Tsunade stepped in and said "indeed Jonin Nara, however Moegi chan I must say you have been shown excellent growth ads a Shinobi and a medical nin, however remember that poison is a tricky skill to master and while effective in this case it is not a good idea to use it against a comrade in arms no matter how diluted. However that is a discussion for another time for now Hold your head up high for today you are the Victor."
