Another chapter for you all. I do hope you enjoy this chapter.
I'm not sure if you know that I've edited all the other chapters. I was trying to get them all edited before continuing with the story and seeing as that's done I finally wrote this chapter.
There are new scenes added to previous chapters. In the third chapter, there is a scene between Arthur and Elsie that I wanted to write but forgot the first time and managed to edit it into the second version. Please re-read it if you wish.
There is also a scene between Ada and Elsie in chapter fourteen - I do recommend that you read that one.
Most of the changes I have made were done for plot reasons so I do recommend you take another look at the story.
I managed to squeeze this chapter out - I have only just finished it and I feel like the last section is a bit naff.
I hope I still have readers and I hope you all enjoy this chapter. It's not much, but it's leading up to the big plot involving Graves and this chapter has certainly got some important information regarding Tommy and Elsie.
I hope you all enjoy it and I am once again sorry.
I'm not going to take up any more of your time, but I am going to say that I can't promise to be regular on updates as I don't want to make any promises I can't keep.
Thank you for your time xx Comet96 xx
p.s. sorry for any mistakes xx
I want to thank everyone for reviewing all the previous chapters and I do hope you enjoy this one.
If there are any problems please feel free to PM me or leave a review.
Thank you and enjoy xx Comet96 xx
Happy New Year everyone. I hope life brings you happiness, good luck and love.
I hope you all love it and I promise some juicy, exciting scenes are going to be coming up and we'll be moving onto the plot with Graves, and Tommy and Elsie's married life.
Love you all and review if you wish xx Comet96 xx

"Are you sure it's okay for us to leave?" I asked Tommy as he walked around our new bedroom, packing his clothes into his suitcase. This trip to London wasn't unexpected, but it was surprising considering Arthur's state.
It had been four days since Arthur had tried to take his life, and Tommy still wanted us to travel down to London. Not only was I tired from working all day, but I wasn't happy about getting on the Friday evening train to London where my Grandmother would be waiting to disapprove of my marriage to Tommy.
"Aye, Arthur will be fine," Tommy replied, tucking a gun under one of his shirts as he glanced up at me. I was eyeing his gun but let my eyes lock with his. I knew he'd be taking a gun with him, he always had one strapped under his jacket, but why did he need another one? What was he planning on doing in London?
"Is it safe for us to be going?" I asked, nodding to his gun in his suitcase. If it was only going to bring violence to us then shouldn't we stay here?
"It's safe, El, you don't need to worry." I trusted him, I really did, but I felt like he was keeping something from me. There was a reason we were going to London and it wasn't to see my grandparents.
"Are you sure it's not some trap set up by Graves to lure you to him so he can have an easy kill?" I wouldn't put it past the slimy git to try and trap Tommy so he could kill him. Papa would be there too, which would get him out of the way and Graves would take any chance to hurt Papa.
"It's at your grandfather's office and we've got a few tricks up our selves. Graves won't be able to hurt us, not if he wants to be seen by the public." He always seemed to have an answer for everything and it was beginning to annoy me.
"Don't get yourself killed, Tommy," I muttered before leaving the room to check on Arthur.
Arthur was resting in his bed, eyes facing the window and a look of sadness on his face. He'd been this way since he'd been drug into the house and a doctor fetched. Tommy had a few words with him and he said it hadn't been the first time Arthur had tried to kill himself since the war.
"I don't want a cup of tea, Polly," he said, not turning to see who had entered. I snorted at his response and walked over tot eh window, pulling open the curtains, letting in some light.
"It's a good thing I'm not Polly, then, Arthur." I stared down at him, my hands resting on my hips as I shook my head. "Get out of bed, have a wash and get your arse down to the shop and help pout John."
"No."
"Arthur, for fuck's sake, get your lazy arse out of bed now! You're acting like a child and we've indulged you for days now. You don't want us waiting on you hand and foot, you said that yourself."
"I want to be left alone."
"I can't ever understand what you're going through, Arthur, and I don't know how to help you, but letting you lay in bed day and night to suffer through nightmares isn't helping you. Getting out of bed and helping out might not help either, but it'll be better than letting you waste away in the dark by yourself." I dropped to the floor in front of him and took his hands in mine. "If you can't face the shop, spend time with Finn and John's boys. Be with your family. Let Polly nag you, but please don't let yourself be taken by the darkness. We need you."
Arthur squeezed my hand in his and shifted slightly into an upright position. He gave me a small smile and brought our hands up to his lips, pressing a kiss to my hands.
"I'll try," he said, the roughness of his voice a sign to the lack of use it's had over the last couple of days. Something no one would expect from Arthur.
"You need to keep an eye on John while we're gone. Who knows what he could get up to," I teased leaning over and placing a kiss on his head happy that he was laughing even if it was a little.
As the train pulled into the station, Tommy and John lifted our bags on the train as Finn and Matthew ran behind them, trying to help. I smiled as I turned to Ada and gave her a hug. She clung onto me as if I was about to leave for months and never return instead of going for a few days.
"I'm going to miss you," she said, giving me an extra squeeze before letting me go. "Keep an eye on Tommy." Even Ada knew he was going to be in danger, and she often acted oblivious to her brothers and the business.
"You know I will."
I turned to Polly and gave her a quick hug before pressing a kiss to Jacob's cheek and repeated the action with the twins. They scrunched up their faces and wiped their cheeks as if they'd gotten dirt on them. I shook my head and turned on my heel but stopped when Polly put a hand on my wrist.
"You watch your husband, Ellie," she warned, giving my arm a squeeze. "He's got something planned and I don't think it's gonna end up for the best."
"I've got that feeling, Pol. I'll keep an eye on him." I gave her a smile before stepping on the train passing by John and the boys as I joined Tommy in our carriage.
My husband was reading through a file, cigarette in hand as I joined him. His eyes flickered up to meet mine before he returned his gaze to his papers. I slid the door shut with a roll of my eyes, flicking the lock.
"If you're not going to tell me what you have planned, other than it's not dangerous, then can you at least tell me when and where you're going to get yourself killed ." I knew I was being petty but we had agreed to be honest with each other and Tommy was already keeping things from me.
I knew he was doing it because he thought it was keeping me safe, but I knew in the end it was only going to blow up in his face. Would he rather I didn't know anything and end up helpless or if I knew his plan and could use it to keep myself safe? He relied on himself too much to let others help.
"Alright." He sighed, dropping his file on the chair and shifting so I had his full attention. "What's wrong?"
"Why does there have to be something wrong?" His deathly stare would intimidate most men, but Tommy never had that effect on me. "We made promises to each other, Tommy, but you're keeping things from me and I'm afraid you'll end up dead." I didn't want to argue with him, I just wanted to know what was happening so I could prepare for the backlash of Tommy's plan.
He was silent, but his eyes kept switching between me and the file and I knew he was contemplating whether to tell me or carry on reading. I wouldn't put it past him to carry on reading.
"Look, I don't need to know everything about the plan. I just need to know if it's going to follow us back to Small Heath. We have an obligation to protect John's boys and Finn from anything dangerous. When we eventually have children, I don't want to always worry that there's going to be someone around the corner trying to hurt them to get to you," I told him, moving next to him on his chair, taking his hand in mine.
"I'm doing it to protect you," he replied, running his thumb over the back of my hand. He always said that and it was starting to lose it's meaning.
"I adore you for that, Tommy, but sometimes you think you're protecting me, but really you're opening me up to get hurt." He didn't want to admit that this was true, but the way Graves' son had a knife to my neck in the Garrison was proof of that. He always let his guard down around me because he thought I was safe and then it ended up with me in the arms of danger.
"What I've got planned with Graves isn't dangerous, but I feel safer knowing you don't know." My blood boiled at his words. Why didn't he understand that I needed to know?
"Would you rather I go in blind then? What if I'm grabbed by one of his men when I'm walking down the street? What if one of them sneaks into the house and threatens Finn or John's boys for information and you're not there? You can't possibly believe you're doing this to keep us safe." He turned his face away from me and looked back down at his file. It was enough for em to know that he didn't want to talk about it anymore. "Fuck you, Thomas Shelby!" I rose from my seat and marched to the door, my fingers fumbling with the latch as his hand grabbed onto my arm. "Let go of me, you bastard."
"Ellie, stop being childish," he said, turning me to face him as he pressed my back against the door.
"You think I'm being childish?" I couldn't believe him. "I may have overreacted, Tommy, but the safety of John's children is important. If you're planning on bringing a shitstorm into Small Heath over some fucking business with Graves, I will fucking gut you. How can you be so selfish? Do you not understand how—"
His lips cut me off as he slammed into me, rattling the door as our weight rested upon it. His hands roamed down my hips as he tugged up my dress and lifted my legs until I wrapped them around his hips. I was resentful towards him but I couldn't help but return his kiss feverishly.
"What are you doing?" I pulled back and looked down at him in frustration. "You can't just kiss me and think I'll stop talk—"
"You're fucking beautiful when you're angry," he mumbled, pressing kisses down my neck as he shifted his weight, pressing me against the door with his body as his hand fiddled with his trousers.
"We're not solving this with sex." Did he really think it was that easy? "Put me down."
"We'll talk about it after." No we wouldn't. I knew his game. Distract me with sex and then hope I'd forget everything.
"Thomas Shelby, you better put me down this instant or I'll cut your balls off." Tommy froze and pulled back with wide eyes. Finally, it seemed something I'd said had shocked him.
"You've got a dirty mouth," he said, pressing a kiss to the corner of my lips as his hand massaged my thighs. His lips trailed up my neck until they rested by my ear where he nibbled lightly. Why was he playing dirty? He knew I couldn't resist him when he did that.
"You can't play dirty, Tommy." I threw my head back as he moved to the chair, dropping down allowing my weight to drop onto his legs.
"You drive me crazy, woman," he said, slipping his hand under my dress and pulling my undergarments down. His fingers scraped against my skin and my eyes almost rolled into my head. Did he know how sexy he could be?
His nose nudged against mine and I opened my eyes as he pressed our foreheads together and pressed a kiss to my lips. Tommy lifted me up into position and slowly pulled my hips down as he pushed into me, rocking his hips as he held me close.
"Jesus." I cried out as he pulled me down hard enough to knock the wind from me. I clung to him as my body heated up and I wished he'd done this when we arrived in London so we could take our clothes off. I didn't appreciate being a sticky, sweaty mess for the rest of our journey. "Someone will hear," I said, trying to keep my moans stifled against his shoulder.
"Let them hear." His breath coated my neck as he set a strong, fast pace. I had no idea what had come over him, but I liked it. There was a thrill of being caught by an inspector, but I was convinced that Tommy had paid them to leave us alone. Knowing that we were doing this in a public area was setting my nerves on edge. It was a good feeling and I hoped it would last.
Papa's car was waiting for us as we left the train station and Eddison was leaning against the door and he quickly rushed to us taking our bags from our hands, loading them into the car.
"Good evening, Lady Shelby. Good evening, sir." He opened the door for us and Tommy helped me into the car.
"Evening, Eddison. I hope you weren't waiting for long?" I asked as he climbed into the driver's seat and started off towards the townhouse.
"Not long, Ma'am." He gave a polite nod and I knew he wouldn't bother us until we arrived at the townhouse. He always was a private man and he respected privacy when it was needed.
"Tommy," I said, turning away from my husband as I gazed out of the window.
"Hmm?"
"Don't think I'm going to let you get away with the train sex." Tommy snorted as his hand took mine in his, his thumb running across my knuckles.
"Alright, sweetheart." I couldn't help the smile as I turned to face him, pressing a kiss to his cheek as I rested into his side, my head pressed against his shoulder. He lifted his arm and wrapped it around me and bent down to press a kiss to my head.
It might have seemed rash to give into him on the train but it was worthwhile. When he was satisfied I'd managed to get some more answers about his plan which had left me satisfied. At least now I know what he was planning on doing and where he was hoping it would take us in the future.
Thank you for reading xx
