Deep in this strange looking house, Olga was shaking nervously as the cold kept getting to her. "Maybe I didn't... p-p-pack enough coats?"
Olga groaned as she held her head as she looked around nervously. She had been in this house only a few minutes, and already she was worried. "Kids? You can come out now..."
A few steps in, she noticed a note that wasn't as dusty as all the knick-knacks that were inside. Being curious, she grabbed the note as she read it, "Separated from the kids? Feel bad? You should be. They made the mistake of disturbing the spirits and whisking them away... of course, you could wish them back if you admit... your problem with a certain individual."
Olga just stared at the letter... before laughing. "What? I don't have any problems with anybody, that's ridiculous..."
She continued reading, "Of course, should you refuse to admit your problem, then keep your tongue, or you will be whisked away too! Signed... the Petty Nurse"
Olga yelped as she kept her mouth shut as she looked around nervously before putting the note down. Nearby, Arnold and Alan were waiting nearby, looking nervous as they saw Rhonda, all dressed up in a nurse's outfit carefully sneaking behind Olga as she put a tack on a nearby chair she was about to sit in.
Olga took a few quiet deep breaths as she turned around, not noticing the tack as she sat down on the chair... and her eyes widened. She let out a yelp before covering her mouth. Looking around hastily, she started to sneak slowly outside the cabin and managed to get at least a few feet away... before letting out the rest of the scream. She then ran back in the cabin, right in the same room as she looked around desperately in confusion... until she noticed something in the darkness. Olga gasped as she saw the nurse's hat on the girl. Of course, it was just Rhonda in a nurse's costume, but Olga didn't know that. Olga approached as Rhonda said, in a scary voice, "So, Olga, are you going to confess?"
"N-no. I don't have a problem!" Olga whispered as she glared at the "Petty Nurse". "Now give me my kids back!"
"You've been warned." The Petty Nurse said as she used her hand to slap the woman in the face.
Olga winced as she opened her mouth... before using her hand to cover it... as she quickly ran right back outside and stopped a few feet away, letting out another scream. Once she got that out of her system, she ran right back in... just in time to see the nurse waiting for her in the kitchen.
"Admit your problem... or we'll destroy the place!" Rhonda said in the ghostly voice.
"I don't have one." Olga said.
"Very well then." Rhonda shrugged as she snapped her fingers. Olga then noticed some plates flying and heading directly towards the ground. Olga yelped as she tried to grab each plate, which, even Rhonda had to admit, she was a pretty good catcher. Even Alan and Arnold were quite impressed that with each plate they threw, she was able to make good balance. But she was eventually on one foot as Olga tried to hold on tight to the plates. Then, much to Rhonda's amazement, Olga managed to hop on one foot outside the door and into the snow as she went a couple feet away... before dropping the dishes in the snow. Thankfully, most of those plates were paper products, so they didn't break in the snow, but rather deteriorated, much to Olga's confusion.
She shook her head as she immediately ran back to the door, where Rhonda disappeared into the shadows once again as the young girl turned to see Alan holding a candle up to a doorknob, with Arnold shaking his head. "Rhonda, this is getting ridiculous."
"I know!" Rhonda frowned. "She's not confessing her problem!"
"And how does humiliating her and making a story about a nurse help that?" Arnold asked.
Rhonda held up one finger as she motioned Alan and Arnold to hide in the shadows once again. Rhonda watched from the shadows as Olga started to approach her angrily, about to reach for the doorknob... however, once her hand made contact with that heated doorknob, Olga's eyes widened as she clapped her mouth shut as she started to run back outside, presumably to scream her lungs out in pain once again. That left the three enough time to talk again as Arnold and Alan came out of the shadows as Rhonda answered, "It really doesn't. I just like watching her squirm a little."
"Rhonda." Arnold frowned. "Scaring her into admitting she has a problem with Mr. Redmond is not the way to do that."
"Hey, you agreed to this, man!" Rhonda pointed to her boyfriend in accusation. "Don't go pinning this on me!"
"She's coming!" Alan said as he handed an alarm clock to Rhonda as they slipped away in the shadows.
Sure enough, Olga came back once more, a little angry as she looked ready to throw down somebody. Setting her sights on the nurse, she was about to throttle her... until Rhonda simply handed her the alarm clock.
Olga looked at it in confusion when her eyes widened in horror, realizing that any second, the clock would start ringing. Immediately, she ran out of the house to throw away the alarm clock or let it ring, whichever came first. As soon as Olga was gone, Rhonda winced as she turned to Arnold and Alan as she looked down in guilt. "I guess now that I see Olga's angry face, you're right. I'm going too far with this. I'm going to stop here before we go too far."
"Good plan." Arnold nodded as he tried to find a light switch.
"Yeah, probably best to stop while we're ahead." Alan sighed. "It's clear she's not going to admit her problem with my dad."
"Maybe it's a Pataki thing, I don't know." Rhonda shrugged as the three looked up to see Olga returning, a little tired and tuckered out, as she came in, panting and groaning.
"Let go... of my kids... or-" Olga groaned as she rubbed her legs. "Oh God, my legs feel like jelly!"
"Olga, stop, please. There's no Petty Nurse. We made that up." Rhonda sighed as she pulled off the hat.
Olga panted a bit as she looked closer... and her eyes widened as she looked a little angry. "R-Rhonda? What the heck, sweetheart?"
"Olga, please calm down and we'll happily explain." Arnold said as he and Alan came out as he motioned Olga and Rhonda over to some seats to calm themselves down.
A few minutes later, Olga was trying to let the story the three kids explain to her sink in. "So, let me see if I'm following you right. This isn't an actual haunted cabin, it's a show cabin that can be explored at any time."
"Yep." Alan nodded.
"Pretty much." Rhonda said.
"But you've noticed how the name 'Sammy Redmond'..." Olga cringed. "...just stresses me out, even though you guys saw that I can be tolerant of him."
"That's right." Arnold said.
"And you made up this whole 'Petty Nurse' story just so you can scare me straight." Olga said, looking between the three of them. "Am I getting all this right?"
"You pretty much hit it on the mark." Rhonda chuckled nervously.
Olga remained silent for quite a while, scaring the kids. After a moment, though, Olga let a small smile... and started to laugh a bit. Rhonda just stared in confusion as Arnold and Alan stared in bewilderment. After the genuine sounding laughter coming from the woman died a bit, she wiped a tear from her eye as the older blonde said, "Man, you really must care for my feelings and my stress if you were to go through all that trouble for me."
Rhonda gave a chuckle. "We just wanted you to know that we're here in case you want to talk."
"And that's sweet of you." Olga said as she pulled Rhonda into a hug, with Rhonda hugging back. "And I know this stupid, silly unreasonable hate for Sammy is unwarranted, but... hey, we're human. Sometimes, we hate people for irrational reasons. Someday, when you guys grow up, you'll probably understand what that means."
Arnold, Rhonda and Alan looked at each other as they grinned, before turning to Olga. "I guess so. So, you're still not going to admit your problem with Mr. Redmond?"
"Never in a million years." Olga said. "Well, come on, kids, why don't we go back to the lodge, and just enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate before we reunite with the parents and get home?"
"Sounds like a plan to us, Miss Pataki." Alan smiled as Rhonda picked up what looked like a candle and lit it up.
"Great. And by the way, I'm going to tell your parents about your little stunt, and Rhonda, you're grounded for two weeks." Olga said.
Rhonda's eyes widened, before groaning. "That is fair."
Arnold and Alan nodded in understanding as the four got up and started to head out the door, Rhonda still holding the candle in her hand. As they kept walking, they couldn't help but hear a small sizzling sound, much to Olga's confusion.
"Do you kids hear that?" Olga asked as she turned to Rhonda... and her eyes widened as she noticed the candle the girl was holding. "Rhonda... put the fuse out... now!"
"Why?" Rhonda asked. "We need a light."
"NOT THIS TYPE OF LIGHT!" Olga screamed as she grabbed the candle and threw it over... right to a box of unlit candles as the fuse touched each fuse on the other candles and all of them started sizzling.
Arnold blinked in horror as he asked, "Uh... who puts real dynamite in a cabin?"
"I don't know, but let's get out of here!" Olga screamed as she and the three kids started to run in place, before zooming out of the cabin, leaving the sticks of dynamite still lit and slowly going down.
Meanwhile, all the way down the mountain, inside the lodge, Miles, Stella and Sammy were out of the spa, all relaxed and well-adjusted as Stella gave a yawn and a stretch. "I don't know about you, but I feel a lot more relaxed."
"You said it." Miles laughed a bit. "I don't know how long it was since my last spa treatment..."
Sammy gave a laugh as he patted his two new friends in the back. "Told you you'd like it!"
Stella sighed as she looked around, until noticing Olga and the kids entering in the lodge, looking panicked as they panted, looking up in fear. "Oh, here's the kids! Hey kids! Hey Olga!"
"Hi, Mom." Arnold said hastily.
"Hello, Stella." Olga nodded.
"Hello, Mrs. Shortman." Alan and Rhonda said as all four looked up in concerned.
Stella looked confused as did Miles and Sammy as the three approached. "You four looked like you were running from an explosion."
"We weren't, but we're not sure how long that's going to be a reality." Arnold said.
Before Arnold's parents and Sammy could ask what Arnold meant by that...
KABOOM!
The lodge shook as a large cloud from up in the hill formed, with pieces of wood flying everywhere, and a bit of the snow from the mountains started to fall down, causing the ski lifts to get jammed. Fortunately, nobody was on those ski lifts. As soon as the ground stopped shaking and the air cleared, Stella and Miles glared at Rhonda first as she gave a nervous grin.
"Oh, what? Like you never saw an explosive before?" Rhonda chuckled nervously.
Olga shook her head as she turned to the three adults. "Do I have a story for you all..."
About an hour or so later, after clearing everything up and having a lot of people clean up the area, most of the others were heading for home as Miles was behind the wheel driving with Arnold, Rhonda and Alan looking down just as guilty as Stella shook her head, with Olga chuckling nervously. Sammy, of course, was sitting next to Olga as he said, "Well, you kids certainly went through quite an adventure."
"Yeah, and you three are definitely grounded." Stella said as Arnold looked up at her with a sad look. "Don't look up at me like that, young man, you knew this was coming."
"I know..." Arnold said in disappointment.
A few seconds of silence later, Stella couldn't help but smile, "I swear, you kids have got to be quite the most adventurous I've ever seen..."
"That's nothing. You should see Rhonda and her group with me on a NO PEOPLE meeting." Olga laughed a bit.
As the drive home started to pass by, so did the adults' anger at the kids as it seemed to dwindle down, as they started sharing adventures. But regardless of the good times, Arnold, Rhonda and Alan knew they would have to serve the grounding sentence as their parents commanded it. After all, nobody can get away with anything...
As for Olga herself, she still didn't quite trust Sammy Redmond, and while she doubt she would get over him, she understood that she can tolerate him for the time being. After all, no harm done...
Olga sighed as she looked up at the ceiling and relaxed. "Yeah... no harm done..."
Little did any of this group realize was that things ahead were just going to get a little bumpy...
