Jolene yawned as she woke up early. A wave of nausea hit her and she did her best to hold it down.
The house was still silent as it was only six am, but she had been restless recently. Sarah and Nathan were more work than she expected and to make matters worse she suspected that had PTSD. They jumped at loud noises and stuck to Paul like glue. It was odd because they hadn't been like that the first few weeks. It was only when things began to settle down that the signs began to show. Jolene also realized that it was a state off shock they were in. A new home, new people and no pack. Well at least not Sam's pack and something else that was bothering Jolene was...well, she hated to admit it but she was feeling really uncomfortable with Paul marking Emily. It was supposed to take place tomorrow night and she just wasn't ready. She understood why Paul had to mark Emily but that didn't mean She liked in any less. In truth Jolene was feeling territorial. Paul was hers. He was her husband! And she shouldn't have to share him even if was to just break off an abusive imprint. Why did he have to be another women's safe haven?
Jolene groaned. She needed to talk to her husband. Not to stop him but to juts share her feelings. Deep down, she felt that once Paul marked Emily…She wouldn't be special anymore. She would just be his women. Another women would have some piece of him.
"ohhh man. Why is it so hot?" Jared complained as he walked into the kitchen from the back door
"good morning Jared. I dint know anyone else be up. What's this about being hot?"
"yeah, I was just coming back from patrol. Paul just wanted us to be safe. Shouldn't be anything too consistent. And I said that because it's hot out down here. I mean in Washington at least it's a little cooler. Down south its just so freaking hoot! I had to throw myself in the freaking snow!"
Jolene let out a low laugh.
"I think maybe your wolf's winter coat is just too thick. You and Paul just need a good brush. Maybe Nathan and Sarah can do it."
Jolene laughed even harder when she saw the look of horror on his face.
"come on Jared. Help your big sister make breakfast and I help you figure out ways to cool down."
"oh! So, Paul told you?" Jared questioned awkwardly
"yes. He did and I'm happy to have you. Really I am."
Jared blushed and reached for a spoon to help stir the grits.
Before they knew it, their home came to life with the sounds of its residents. Paul getting ready for a hard day's work. Sarah and Nathan shifting about, the workers outside, welcoming her back and preparing for their day.
The back door opened, and Emily stepped in. At the same time, Paul, Sarah and Nathan came bounding down the stairs.
Jolene was already agitated but it got even worse when Caroline, Ms. Li and jerry came through.
"Good morning lahote family!" Ms. Li boomed.
It wasn't that she didn't want them here, Jolene was just feeling so overwhelmed. This was on her issues Dr, joi tried to nip in the bud, too many issues and not enough resolution. She had a bad habit of not confronting her issues and her emotions head on because when she didn't, she let it build and then it would come out at the wrong time and at the wrong person.
So, after she and Paul set the table, she quickly dismissed herself to the restroom. Grateful she had one upstairs.
Closing her eyes, she decided to start with what was bothering her most. The marking between Emily and Paul yes but it wasn't the root. The root was that their life had been thrown back into the supernatural. She hadn't even gotten a proper honeymoon, ok no that wasn't true, Having Sarah and Nathan returned to their father was the highlight of it all, but Everything had happened so fast. They didn't get to really be... a married couple. A newly wed couple. Coming to their own home…Having wild sex in every room. No, they had to immediately help everyone else out. It was just... overwhelming and in a way…it hurt because Paul never asked her or confided in her about everyone else coming back with them. It was just …decided and now she didn't regret it. not in the least…she just wished had had given her the option. And she wasn't blaming him because any other time, Paul consulted her...about everything but being so close to the pack and vampires and his children. He was just following his instincts...she understood that.
With her decision set that she would talk to her husband about everything they were going though, she began to make her way back downstairs. She knew that Paul was probably just as stressed.
Jolene stopped however when she realized sue had not come out of her room. Maybe she was sleeping in? just o be safe she knocked. Multiple times. After a while, she just went in and to her shock, Sue's room was completely Empty. The bed was made and on it was a letter with her name on the bed.
Paul pov:
Paul had been restless and agitated this past week. Everything was going on at once. Running a community, work, his kids, his pack, being an alpha and especially his wife. She had been a little distant from him for a few days and he was trying to figure out what went wrong. He knew he was working a lot but with more mouths to feed, he wanted to make sure everything was covered.
And with the threat of Jolene's parents trying to use her, that really riled him up. So just in case he and Jared would rotate in a few patrols around the town every once in a while.
Something else that riled him but was really bothering his wolf was the wavering loyalty of Sue and Emily. They were frightened and bolt at any time. Which is why it was so imperative to for him to mark Emily. She needed to be disconnected from Sam. After that his wolf would be content and he could go back to giving his full attention to his wife and children.
Speaking of children, the little boogers were chowing down on their second plate of food. Even thought they hadn't phased again their bodies still ate like it. it was concerning, another thing that concerned him was the amount of sleep they were getting. They weren't sleeping well and wasn't healthy.
Before Paul could think about it further, His wife bolted down the stairs and ran into the dining room.
"Paul…It sue! S-She's gone back to forks!"
….
Victoria looked out the window but couldn't resist the glares that followed her. The Denali coven had come for a surprise visit and when they saw her All hell broke loose and now the covens were divided. Some of them thinking they should just kill her and move on the other believing she should get a chance. However, that's not what she was here for. With her plan set in motion she knew just what to do.
Edward was distracted by his so-called mate and the very person she wanted to follow her did
"Done following me yet?" she called out once she was miles away.
"You cannot be trusted!" Rosalie hissed at her
"Oh, chill out blondie. I'm not here to hurt your precious coven, I have a family of my own to protect and I need your help."
"Why in the world would I help you…you almost had a us killed!"
Victoria let out a small smile
"Tell me Rosalie. You wouldn't want Bella thrown into your lives again …"
"What!" Rosalie hissed
It was then Victoria told Rosalie everything. If she couldn't trust anyone else, she knew she could trust Rosalie.
