A/N: Hello loves! I bring you a late update! My update schedule is admittedly weird because of my moods and my busy schedule, but I do try when I can. I hope you enjoy this short update while you can. So without further ado, here we go…

OOOOOOOOOO

Emmett didn't know what had happened. One moment he was standing in Sadie's room, hearing those horrible words that Sadie was gone from his life and that she had left to go to the reservation with that bastard Sam and the next he was running towards that forbidden border between their lands. He couldn't get his legs to move fast enough and there was already so much distance between him and the wolf girl that he loved so much.

"Emmett, Emmett no!" Jasper said, wrapping his arms around Emmett and pulling him back while Edward did the same.

"Let me go, dammit!" Emmett growled, twisting. "Sadie! I need to get to Sadie!"

"Sadie's gone, Emmett," Alice said, stepping in front of him and looking just as hurt. "She went across the border and we can't go after her."

"Sadie!" Emmett shouted, letting the animal in his voice carry out across the distance. "Sadie!"

Somewhere in the distance, he felt like he could feel her heart crack and he knew he had to get to her, bring her comfort. No, bring her back to him. He fought against his brothers, trying to inch towards the border. He didn't care that there were two tan teens standing near the road, watching the small group.

"Emmett, think about it," Edward said, holding him tightly. "She walked away from us, from you. If you go across that border, you're going to start a bloodbath and that's exactly what she didn't want to begin with. Can you live with that on your conscience?"

Emmett looked at his brother and shook his head, feeling his chest crumble from within. "I can't be without her, Edward. I just fucking got her. I can't just let her run away from me and do nothing about it. How can you?"

"Don't you think we tried?" Alice asked, wrapping her arms around herself. "When we saw Sam come in with her and start packing up her bags? Don't you think we tried to stop him from taking her away from us? But we were told that it was for the best. That Sadie needed to learn how to be a wolf from someone who knew what he was doing. It's temporary, Emmett."

"Unless she's so scared that she doesn't come back," Edward commented, shaking his head.

"That's not going to happen, Edward," Jasper snapped when Emmett whined. "Sadie loves us and she's Imprinted on Emmett. She has to come back when she's got her head on straight. Once she's figured out what she needs to figure out, she'll come back to us and we'll let her back in. Because that's what family does. We forgive each other and we love each other without paying attention to mistakes."

"Even ones this big?" Edward asked, narrowing his eyes as Emmett twisted again. "She's making him think about ending the truce with the wolves and cross the border just to get her ass back over here. Emmett, she was thinking about going over there because she was scared to love you."

"I knew she was scared," Emmett mumbled, shaking his head as he continued to fight against their grasp. "I knew she was scared to love because of what happened to her sister, her pack, but I didn't care. I can protect her. Sadie, I can protect you!" he shouted, hoping she could hear him from wherever she was over there.

The wolves stared at him with dark eyes and remained motionless, watching him for any sign that he was going to break across the border. But the others kept him at a distance. Alice put her hands on either side of his face and looked him in the eye.

"Emmett, you need to promise me that you're not going to cross that border for anything," Alice said firmly, her eyes full of pain to match his. "Sadie went across there to be by herself for a bit, but she's going to come back to you, I promise that she will. Just please, don't go across. Promise me that you won't."

Emmett stared at his sister, breathing hard. "I want her to come back now, Alice."

"I know, Emmett, I know," Alice whispered, nodding her head. "I want her back too, but we have to let her realize she needs to come back on her own. We can't drag her back."

"But we can hint at it," Jasper said, making his presence known again. "She will be attending school with us still. We can keep talking to her in class and at lunch…"

Edward growled. "Like those bastards over there will let you have a moment alone with her."

The wolves gave him a smirk, but remained silent, just watching.

Emmett let out a small sound. "I just want her back…"

"We'll get her back, Emmett," Alice promised, offering a small smile. "We just have to give it time."

OOOOOOOOO

Sadie sat on the front step of Sam's house and felt her chest hurt as she listened to the world around her. It had been doing that ever since she had crossed the border, but now it was getting worse. It felt like her heart was bleeding and crumbling into a million pieces and she wanted to cut it out. She put a hand to her breast and let out a small cry as she heard Emmett's voice in her head, shouting her name in complete agony.

"That's not funny, you guys," she muttered, knowing that Sam's mental voice had accidentally slipped her his pack's voices to let her know what was going on at the border.

She closed her eyes and tried to center herself, but it was no good. Her body hurt. Her head was spinning. Her eyes opened and she saw Jacob watching her from a distance, but he moved closer when he saw her watching.

"You have a staring problem?" she asked, lowering her hand from her breast.

"You a new packmate of Sam's now, Sadie?" he asked, crossing his arms over his broad chest. "Because I don't hear your thoughts."

"Haha, no. And I'm not joining anyone's pack," Sadie grumbled, rising to her feet since she didn't feel like looking too far up at him. "I was part of one once and you probably heard what happened to that one. I'm not letting that happen to me again, Jacob. I don't need a pack."

"A wolf without a pack isn't a good wolf," Jacob commented, shaking his head. "You need someone to rely on in a fight, Sadie."

"No thanks," Sadie said, walking around him. "I'm better off without people."

"Says the girl shacking up with vampires," Jacob retorted, following after her. "And now you're here with us, trying to learn how to be a proper wolf. What the hell is up with your sudden need to become a wolf if you don't want to become one of us and want to live with vampires at the same time? Got issues?"

Sadie rounded on him and planted her fist in his stomach, knocking him backwards. "Don't you make assumptions about me. I have no issues with vampires if I find them to be good people and it's people like you that give wolves a bad name. So shut the hell up if you've got a problem with the way that I live my life, Jacob!"

Jacob laughed. "I've got a problem with cowards that only know how to throw punches when honesty is thrown in their faces, Sadie."

"Fuck. Off." Sadie spat, throwing another punch at him, which he dodged. "You don't know my life and you don't get to judge me."

The taller wolf tripped her and sent her crashing onto her back on the dirt. "Maybe you need to actually join the pack and let us in, so we can learn your life and get you in a right place, you little pest. It might do you some good." He kicked dirt into her hair. "And give you an attitude adjustment."

Sadie growled and flipped onto her feet. "You wanna scrap, you asshole?"

Jacob smirked. "Oh hell yeah."

"You'll do nothing, Jacob," Sam said from behind them.

Sadie lifted her eyes and saw the Alpha wolf standing there, looking calm but stern. Jacob frowned but backed off, shoving his hands in his pockets and Sadie put her hand to her chest when another stabbing pain went through it. She looked at Sam in confusion.

"What's going on with me?" she asked.

"You've Imprinted on the vampire," Sam explained, moving closer to her. "And you left him behind to be with us, so your body is protesting the distance and your choices. It wants to be with him. Your soul is calling for him and it feels the pain of your decision to leave him behind. Should you have really run away from this place, you would have been in complete agony." He lifted a hand and touched her face, showing her the moisture on his fingers when he drew it away. "I hadn't fully thought that you Imprinted on him, now I am positive. That vampire and you are meant for one another."

Sadie swiped at her face with the back of her hand. "Is it going to stop hurting?"

Sam shook his head. "Not until you've returned to him. If you ever return to him, which is your decision completely, Sadie."

The wolf sighed and looked out at the world, her unfamiliar surroundings. She wanted to go back home, to the Cullens, to the safety of Emmett's arms.

But it wasn't safe. There was just too much that could go wrong and there was so much that she was unprepared for. There was so much that her sister hadn't taught her before she had passed away at the hands of the enemy pack. So much that she hadn't had the time to teach her with Felix and the others. Sadie needed to learn and she needed to learn fast and now.

"Can I learn some things now, Sam?" Sadie asked, looking at the other Alpha once she could ease up on the tears. "I want to start my training as soon as possible."

"You can start by eating something," Sam told her, motioning for her to follow him. "My wife made some food for your welcome here."

Sadie's stomach grumbled, but she felt sick. She knew better than to turn down food though. Because if she was going to be training with Sam, she was going to need to eat.

"All right, Sam," Sadie said, following after him.

OOOOOOOOOO

Emmett hugged Sadie's pillow to his chest and breathed in the scent of her, trying to remember it, drink every last molecule in. He could still feel her lips against his, her body pressed against his as he held her the night before, but it was fading. It hadn't been enough. It would never be enough. He had to have more of that wolf girl that had captured his heart from Day One of meeting her and he had been too blind to see it then and he had been too blind to see it now.

And now she was gone. Gone across that border that he couldn't cross because of a truce made between Carlisle and those wolves that lived on the others side of it. They had wolves patrolling that line, keeping an eye on it like they thought he was going to cross over it. Which he had stupidly promised Alice that he wouldn't. Even though everything in his body screamed at him to throw his entire being over that border and say fuck it all, his Sadie needed to be with him again.

"Sadie," Emmett whispered against the pillow.

"Aw, did the little bitch run out on you?" Rosalie's voice purred from the doorway.

Emmett lifted his eyes to the door and he saw Rosalie leaning against the frame, dressed in a satin robe. She smiled at him like a predator and Emmett's blood went cold with fire.

"I told you she would hurt you, Emmett sweetie," Rosalie said, sliding into the room. "Wolves are no good for vampires like us. They don't know how to commit because they're animals."

"Sadie was scared," Emmett told the blonde, narrowing his eyes as she walked to the foot of the bed. "And she's not an animal. She's a person with feelings and I love her. More than I have ever loved anyone before."

Rosalie smirked. "I'm sure you tell her that." She trailed her fingers over the bedspread. "Had you managed to get in her pants before she ran out on you or was she such a prude that she kept you away?"

Emmett growled. "Get the fuck out, Rosalie."

"You know you want to forget about her, Emmett," Rosalie crooned, looking at him. "I can make your pain go away." She laughed. "I'll even let you do it doggy style if it'll make you happy."

"Get out of here!" Emmett roared in her face, fangs extending. "I don't want you and I'll never want you again, you bitch! You can never hold a candle to Sadie and you never will, so get the fuck out of her room!"

Rosalie paled and backed away towards the door. Her eyes narrowed and she pointed at him. "You're going to regret turning me away, Emmett," she promised. "Your mutt is never going to come back and your bed is going to remain cold. I hope that she dies of a broken heart and that you do the same, you bastard!"

She grabbed the door and slammed it shut. Emmett let out another growl and thought about yelling something dirty after her, but refrained when he felt his heart ache from the pain of losing Sadie. He wanted her back and he wanted her back with him now.

The giant vampire laid down on her bed, cradling her pillow to his chest and breathed in the scent that remained of her, wishing that vampires could sleep so he could dream of her.

OOOOOOOOOO

Sadie stared at the wall of the room that she had been given and wished that she couldn't dream because everything reminded her of the absence of Emmett. She didn't want to be without him. She wanted to be in his arms and fall asleep with his soft promises of what was to come in the next day and his perverted comments, his soft kisses, the way that he touched her. Sadie wrapped her arms around herself and felt a tear slide down the curve of her cheek.

Emmett, I miss you, she thought, closing her eyes against the world.

OOOOOOOOO

A/N: Well, I'm still trying to get things done here. I've dedicated today to updates and doing things around the house. So we'll see how far I get with everything. Let me know what you think. And as always, thank you. -Scarlet
