Chapter Twenty-One
Just before four everyone took their seats and Seto came to stand with the priest on the stage.
He hadn't been seen since he walked away to yell at his wedding planner but now, he's back.
Yami could tell by the reaction Seto had towards him that he wasn't welcome, so he sat in the back row of people, as far from the aisle as possible in attempt to hide from Joey as he walked down the aisle.
Serenity and Mokuba had left to help Joey get ready for his big day and would return soon.
Everyone rose and turned to look at the aisle when the music started play.
Yuna and Amun came down the aisle first, little Amun carrying a red heart shaped cushion with the two rings on it while little Yuna sprinkled blue and red rose petals from the basket she carried.
Yuna is wearing a light blue spaghetti strapped dress that falls to her knees, a white belt around her waist. Her hair is pulled up into a bun with a light blue ribbon keeping her hair in place. She has on white stockings and light blue shoes.
Amun is wearing a black suit with a white dress shirt with a light red tie. Black dress shoes with red shoestrings completed the look.
Ryou and Bakura came down the aisle behind the kids with a smile on their face.
Both are wearing white dress shirts with chocolate brown ties that match their eyes. Ryou is wearing a white suit and white dress shoes. Bakura is wearing a black suit and black dress shoes. Neither bothered to tame their hair.
Malik and Marik followed the albinos down the aisle.
Both are wearing white dress shirts with lavender ties that matches Malik's lighter eyes. Malik, like Ryou, is wearing a white suit and white dress shoes and Marik, like Bakura, is wearing a black suit and black dress shoes. Neither bothered to tame their hair.
Atemu and Heba followed the Egyptians down the aisle with a smile on their face.
Both are wearing white dress shirts with crimson/amethyst striped ties that mixed their eye colours together. Heba is wearing a white suit and white dress shoes. Atemu is wearing a black suit and black dress shoes. Neither bothered to tame their hair.
Mokuba and Serenity followed the group as the last couple down the aisle.
All four couples walking down the with bouquets of blue and red roses.
The four couples gave each other a quick kiss before they split up with the white suits/girl went to the left and the black suits going to the right to stand beside Seto. Mokuba stood next to his brother and Serenity stood right beside where Joey will stand.
Yuna stood in front of Serenity while Amun stood in front of Mokuba.
Finally, Yugi and Joey started coming down the aisle.
Joey didn't want his father at his wedding, so he asked Yugi to play the role as 'Dad'. That way he's partially in the wedding as well without needing a random partner.
Yugi is dressed in a simple black suit with a light purple dress shirt and a black tie. He finished the outfit with black dress shoes.
Joey refused to listen to anyone when they wanted him to wear a wedding dress and he refused to wear white like the others wanted.
He had opted to wear a black suit with a white dress shirt and a black tie. He also wore black dress shoes.
Seto gaped at Joey as his blonde puppy started walking towards him.
Joey gave his soon-to-be husband an amused smile while the photographer snapped a shot of Seto Kaiba's shocked expression.
Seto blushed faintly and tried to hide the bulge in his pants.
Yugi kissed Joey's cheek when they reached the stage and then left to take his seat in the front row.
Joey smiled and took Seto's hand as he came to stand beside his soon-to-be husband.
"Why not the wedding dress?" Seto whispered to Joey, kissing his cheek briefly.
"I am not a girl and will not wear a dress. Be thankful that I didn't force you into the blasted dress you wanted," Joey replied with a faint blush and light glare, the duo turning to the priest.
"May we begin?" the Priest asked the couple.
Seto merely nodded in response.
The Priest nodded and smiled at the people. "Welcome family and friends. We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the marriage of Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler. This is not the beginning of a new relationship but an acknowledgement of the next chapter of their lives together. Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler have spent a few years getting to know each other, and we now join them to bear witness to what their relationship has become. Today, they will affirm this bond formally and publicly. Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler will mark their transition as a couple not only by celebrating the love between themselves, but by also celebrating the love between all of us – including the love of their parents, siblings, extended family, and best friends. Without that love, today would be far less joyous. Thank you all for being here this afternoon," the Priest said. "Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler, today you not only marry the right person, you also commit to being the right partner, the one with whom the other can stand and face the world. It's finally time to seal this chapter with questions that will lead us into the next chapter. Before we begin, does anyone object to this union?" the Priest asked, looking around the room.
No one said anything or made a move to interfere.
The Priest nodded and turned to the couple, Seto and Joey turning to face one another again. "Mr Kaiba asked me to skip over their speaking parts so let's continue. Do you, Seto Kaiba, take Joey Wheeler to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and not so good times, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Seto said with a bright smile.
"Do you, Joey Wheeler, take Seto Kaiba to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and not so good times, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?" the Priest asked.
"I do," Joey replied.
"A ring is an unbroken circle, with ends that have been joined together, and it represents your union. It is also a symbol of completeness, just as you two complete each other. It is a symbol of infinity, and of your infinite love. It encircles an opening, which is the door to your future. When you look at these rings on your hands, be reminded of this moment, your commitment, and the love you now feel for each other. Mr Kaiba, place the ring on Joey's finger and repeat after me: Joey Wheeler, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever," the Priest said
"Joey Wheeler, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever," Seto said with a smile, taking a ring from Amun and slipping it onto Joey's finger.
"And now, Joey Wheeler place the ring on Mr Kaiba's finger and repeat after me:
Seto Kaiba, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever," the Priest said.
"Seto Kaiba, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever," Joey repeated with a smile, also taking his ring from Amun and slipping it onto his husband's finger.
Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler, before these witnesses you have pledged to be joined in marriage. You have now sealed this pledge with your wedding rings. You may now seal this ceremony with a kiss," the Priest said with a smile.
Everyone cheered as Seto pulled Joey into a passionate kiss.
"Introducing Mr and Mr Kaiba," the Priest said, clapping for the couple.
Everyone followed their lead and clapped as well, rising from their chairs.
Seto broke the kiss with a smile and held Joey's hand. "Please join us out on the glass bridge to celebrate our wedding," Seto said before he and Joey headed towards the door to the bridge.
The rest of the guests only followed after the camera man had followed the couple and their bridal party out onto the glass bridge.
Yami waited until he was the last person left before he followed the crowd onto the bridge, stopping to stand nervously at the door.
He gulped slightly when he saw Seto and Joey coming his way.
"What are you doing here, Yami?" Joey asked with a frown.
"Mokuba made me because I let it slip that I had an invite," Yami replied. "I swear that I didn't want to come. Your own siblings dragged me here."
"Leave him alone, Joey. He's here with us," Serenity said, coming over to stand beside Yami.
Mokuba stood on Yami's other side.
Yugi had a sitter take the children home as soon as the ceremony ended since they couldn't attend the actual reception. The wedding invite specifically said no children and that included Yugi's kids and Mokuba knew that they wouldn't be there so it was fine for Yami to attend the wedding. The restraining order kept Yami from the kids, not Yugi himself, and the kids aren't at the wedding so no one could use that to kick him out. The brief part during the ceremony got ignored by Seto, Mokuba and Serenity since he didn't try to go near the kids.
"But why? You knew we wouldn't want him here," Joey growled. "This is my day; shouldn't I get a say on who comes?"
"You do but you also sent Yami an invite," Serenity replied. "You tried the same shit when you invited Tristan to my wedding because you slipped his invite in while helping me."
Joey blushed faintly. He did sneak Tristan's invite to him, despite knowing that Serenity didn't like the bloke, and wouldn't let her kick him out since he had an invite.
"I can go-" Yami started, only to be cut off.
"No. You will stay," Serenity said. "Don't worry, Joey, he won't bother you or your friends."
"Oh yeah? What's he going to do then?" Seto asked with a frown.
"They are setting me up with a bloke to help him out and want to use this event so that I can get to know him," Yami replied.
"So… you aren't here to go after Yugi?" Joey asked.
"No. I'm not going anywhere near Yugi. I'm going to sit down and not move. Serenity's orders," Yami replied, glancing briefly at the girl.
Seto frowned. "You better stick to that. You don't want to piss us off today," Seto said.
Yami sighed. "Wouldn't be the first time, Kaiba," Yami muttered. "Anyway, congratulations on getting married."
"Thank you," Seto said, taking Joey's hand. "Come on, we have to go 'mingle' with the others."
"Did we really have to invite all the press and snobby rich men?" Joey asked.
"Yes. It's good for the company. Don't worry, the night will fly by and then we can start our honeymoon," Seto replied with a smirk.
Joey blushed faintly as he was pulled into the crowd again.
"Workaholic," Yami muttered.
"Like you're any better?" Mokuba asked.
Yami chuckled. "I didn't invite businessmen or the press to either of my weddings," Yami replied. "It's not something they need to be involved in."
"Maybe. It's their choice to invite them though," Serenity said, looking over the crowd. "There he is. Come on."
Yami blinked and followed the younger woman through the crowd. "Where are we going?"
"To meet Aigami of course," Serenity replied with a smile.
"Oh," Yami mumbled.
