Weiss let out a groan as her vision slowly returned to her, cracking her eyes open to see the murky blobs of color standing over her. Though lacking much detail, Weiss was able to make out the heads looking between each other, surprised by some turn of events.
"Sis, it's working!" The voice with the highest pitch said, and Weiss winced slightly upon hearing how loud it was before the redhead it belonged to turned to a purple blob. "Keep doing it!" Weiss tried to ask the figures what was happening, but her words refused to come together in an orderly manner before the purple figure grabbed her head. Narrowing her eyes, Weiss was able to make out more and more details of the figure as it leaned over her, and as the aching in her head began to cease, Weiss felt something warm and wet press against her lips.
Her senses quickly returned to her, and Weiss's eyes shot open as she realized that Scythle Dieful was kissing her.
Narrowing her eyes, Weiss shot her arm out and struck Scythle in her eye, throwing the purple girl off of her before Weiss sat up, spitting out the girl's taste as Ruby went to her sister's side, followed quickly by the new green-haired girl. "Wha-bleh!" Weiss began, before attempting to remove the sense that Scythle had just kissed her from her mouth again. "What the hell, Dieful!?"
"See, I Told You Guys It Would Work!" Scythle smiled as Ruby and Emerald picked her up. "True Love's Kiss Always Wakes Sleeping Beauty. It's The One True Kiss Of Life!"
"There is too much wrong with that sentence for me to break down." Weiss said as she stood up, once again spitting into her sleeve. "Great, I'll probably need to burn my mouth off to get rid of your germs. Honestly, first I have the worst weird dream, and now this?"
"Was it the one where you go to school in your underwear and there's a presentation due?" Ruby asked.
"No, no, it was the one where your twin actually had a girlfriend." Weiss said, before feeling a shiver run down her spine. "Still weirds me out."
"Uh, Weiss…" Yang began, before gesturing to the green-haired girl next to Scythle. "That wasn't a dream."
"No, it certainly was." Weiss said. "It was too unrealistic to be real."
"I'm standing right here, you know." Emerald said, scowling at the white-haired girl.
"That reminds me, you never told us," Weiss began. "How do you and Scythle know each other?"
"We told you, we're dating!" Emerald said, spreading her fingers to press her hands together to drive the point home.
"No, seriously," Weiss said. "Were you guys roommates or something?"
"No, we-"
"Oh, Forget It, Emmy," Scythle sighed. "She's Physically Incapable Of Accepting The Fact That I Would Date Anyone That Isn't Her."
"How long was I out for?" Weiss asked as she turned her attention to her partner.
"About an hour." Ruby said as she pulled out her binder, quickly looking through the pages. "Which reminds me, we're behind schedule. Come on, guys. We're playing Remnant in the library." With that, Ruby brushed past the rest of her team, beginning to lead them down the hallways once more as she tried to figure out how to fix the schedule.
"Guess we can catch up later, Amy." Emerald said as the grey-haired boy and black-haired girl turned to walk the other way. "Me and my team should get back to finding our dorm room."
"Eh, What's The Rush?" Scythle asked as she grabbed her girlfriend's hand. "You Can Sleep When The Sun Goes Down – Or With Me If You'd Like." Scythle gave Emerald a wiggle of her eyebrows, and the girl started blushing as she caught on to Scythle's insinuation. "In The Meantime, Why Don't You Join Us? We Can Catch Up And I Can Give You The Grandiose Tour Of The Less-Than-Grandiose Place."
"… Well…" Emerald hummed, before smiling at the purple-haired girl as she squeezed her hand back. "I guess it has been a while since we last talked."
"Great!" Scythle said, before quickly snapping her handcuffs onto her left wrist and Emerald's right. "Now Come Along, We Have A Lot To Catch Up On."
"Um, are the cuffs really necessary?" Emerald asked as the two began following team RWBYS down the hall.
"I Need To Cram A Year's Worth Of Dating Into Half A Day." Scythle responded. "Speaking Of, Where Have You Been? You Haven't Returned My Calls In, Like, A Year."
"Yeah, sorry about that…" Emerald said, rubbing the back of her head with her free hand as her team began to follow after her. "I lost that Scroll a while ago, and I haven't had the time to get a new one. Life's been… Busy, lately."
"Did They Capture You Too?" Scythle asked.
"Y-yeah." Emerald nodded before gesturing to her uniform. "Mistral caught me when the semester began, and they just started dumping work on me."
"I Know, Isn't It Terrible?" Scythle asked. "Why Can't Those No-Good Hunters Just Leave Us To Our Thieving Ways In Peace?"
"You're guilty of much more than thievery." Weiss noted.
"I wanted to call you, really." Emerald said. "But they wouldn't give me a Scroll with good range, and I couldn't go out and buy one even if I had the money. I'm really sorry, Amy-"
"Ah, Relax, Emmy, I Forgive Ya." Scythle said, quickly planting a kiss on her girlfriend's cheek. "I Get What It's Like." Glancing behind her, Scythle ran her eyes up and down the pair following them before turning her attention back to Emerald. "So, These Two Your Team?"
"Oh yeah, almost forgot." Emerald said before gesturing over her shoulder. "That's Mercury," Looking back, Scythle saw the grey-haired, dark-eyed boy nod as Emerald said his name. "And that's Neesha." Emerald finished, gesturing to the black-haired, green-eyed girl.
"And Isn't There A Fourth One?" Scythle asked.
"Oh yeah, she came in ahead of us." Emerald said. "Either found our dorm room or a hole to get stuck in, either way, you probably won't run into her soon."
"Hm." Scythle hummed before pointing to her team. "Well, You've Already Met Weiss, And That's Ruby, Blake, And Yang." Scythle said, pointing to each member of her team as she spoke. "We're team RWBYS."
"'RWBYS?'" Emerald repeated. "You get a team of five?" Seeing the purple-haired girl nod, Emerald let out a chuckle. "Hey, if our fourth did fall in a hole, think you can lend us one of yours?"
"Sorry, Emmy, But These Are My Wifeys." Scythle said.
"No, shut up." Yang and Weiss said in near-perfect sync.
"So that Ruby girl kinda looks like you." Emerald began. "Are you guys…"
"She's My Long-Lost Twin." Scythle said. "Or I'm Her Long-Lost Twin, Or We're Each Other's Lost Twin Longs Or Something. It's Kinda Contrives, Confusing, And Cliché. But Hey, We Make It Work."
Scythle hummed to herself as she scanned over the cards in her hand, eying up her three opponents sitting around a library table with Remnant: The Game in the middle. She looked across at Yang, seeing the blonde smirking confidently as she dominated her three opponents before Scythle looked back down at her deck, thumbing the cards in her hands before smirking herself as she pushed a card up. Yang's smirk briefly faltered as she saw Scythe's eyes intensify, before bringing up her hand to pluck the card of her choice from her hand.
"Gin!" Scythle called out as she smacked her deck down on the table in front of her, causing the group around her to sigh in annoyance.
"Sis, for the third time:" Ruby began, scowling at her sister. "That is not how you play this game."
"And you wonder how I'm winning." Yang said as Ruby picked up the cards, quickly looking through them.
"This is the last time I give you control of Atlas." Ruby muttered. "Okay, I move to rebuild the resources my sister just completely wasted. Weiss, you turn."
"… Royal flush?" Weiss asked, showing her hand to the table.
"I'm starting to think I'm only winning because you guys are really bad at this game." Yang said before she scooted over to Weiss. "So you're playing as Vacuo, which means your Vacuo cards come with a bonus."
As Yang gave Weiss her instructions, Emerald looked between each member of Team RWBYS, seeing Ruby reshuffling her deck and Blake staring at her cards quietly. "So how long have you been a part of this team?" Emerald asked her girlfriend quietly.
"About A Month Or So." Scythle answered. "That's When I Got Captured And They Decided They Just Had To Have Me."
"Surprised you haven't left yet." Emerald said as Yang plucked a card from Ruby's pile. "Never knew you to stay in one place for too long."
"Well, I Tried To, But…" Scythle began, before glancing at her twin with a smile. "Then I Found Something Worth Staying For." Emerald silently hummed as she glanced at Ruby herself, noting how uncannily similar the twins looked. "So What's It Been Like For You?"
"Work, work, and more work." Emerald said. "I think Haven wants to keep me from even thinking about going back to crime."
"What About Your Team?" Scythle asked. "What Are They Like?"
"Mercury's a jerk and Neesha's a mute." Emerald said.
"You know you love me." Mercury said over his comic book.
"She's Gay As All Get-Out." Scythle shot back, before turning her attention back to Emerald. "What About Your Fourth Member?"
"We don't talk often." Emerald said. "A roommate at best, I forget her name sometimes."
Scythle was momentarily skeptical of Emerald's claim, finding it hard to believe the girl could spend so much time on the same team as someone and not know their name when she's been with team RWBYS for such short time and still knew them and their friends. She pushed those thoughts to the side, however. Emerald wouldn't lie to her, why would she?
"And once you're finished doing all that," Yang explained to the white-haired girl, drawing Scythle's attention back to the game before Yang picked up her own card. "You activate my trap card and I completely destroy your army!"
"I knew I shouldn't have listened to you!" Weiss yelled as Yang quickly began picking up all of Weiss's pieces.
"Seriously? Yelling in a library?"
The group turned to look at the new voice to see a tall boy approaching them, with bright blue hair poking out from a set of goggles. A red leather jacket contrasted his hair, and Scythle ran her eyes up his entire outfit to see that, aside from his coat and the harness around his hips, he was dressed in typical dress pants and shirt, complete with a tie. "This place has, like, one rule." The blue-haired boy continued before a blond with an open shirt came around him.
"Come on, dude, lay off." The blond said as team RWBYS's attention was drawn to him, his tail peaking around his hips. "I told you how Ice Queen gets."
"Hey, Sun." Ruby waved as Weiss let out an annoyed huff. "This a friend of yours?"
"As close to a friend as he has." The blue-haired boy said.
"This is Neptune." Sun said, gesturing to the boy in question. "He's my partner."
"Any reason he didn't come in as a stowaway?" Weiss asked, before giving Sun a light glare. "Like you?"
"Cause he's a boring nerd." Sun said.
"Up up up, 'intellectual.'" Neptune said. "There's nothing wrong with not wanting to get arrested."
"Clearly, Ya Ain't Living Right." Scythle said with a smirk, glancing up at her girlfriend. "Isn't That Right, Emmy."
"So that's Ruby's new evil twin?" Sun asked, to which the rest of the table nodded. "And she's holding that girl hostage why?"
"She's My Girlfriend." Scythle answered.
"No, seriously, who is she?" Weiss asked, almost instinctively, causing the group to let out an annoyed groan.
"So you're Weiss, right?" Neptune asked, approaching the white-haired girl before offering her his hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"… Likewise." Weiss said, accepting the handshake as she began smiling at the blue-haired boy. "You know, I don't think Sun ever mentioned where you two were from."
"Haven academy, over in Mistral." Neptune answered.
"Huh, Small World." Scythle said before gesturing to her girlfriend. "You Guys Ever Run Into Emmy Here?" Scythle asked, unaware of how nervous she made the girl.
"… No, actually…" Neptune said, shaking his head. "I don't remember seeing you around campus."
"Well… I don't remember seeing you, so I guess that makes us even?" Emerald said. "We probably just have different class schedules."
"Yeah, probably." Neptune said.
"Never took you as the board game type, Blake." Sun said, looking over at the black-haired girl as she looked down at her cards.
"Yeah, well…" Blake began, before setting her cards down on the table as she got up. "I think I'm done playing for the day…" With that, Blake brushed past the group, leaving her team to raise eyebrows at her.
"Has she been acting weird to you?" Ruby asked her sister, to which Scythle shrugged.
"The Main Writers Didn't Really Have A Defined Character For Her At This Point." Scythle said, confusing the group even further. "Any Way She Acts Is Weird When You Think About It Like That."
"Well…" Weiss began, before looking up at the blue-haired boy as she gestured to the vacant seat. "Care to join us?"
"Sure." Neptune said as he walked around the table, not noticing how the remainders of team RWBYS looked at Weiss with wide eyes. "I love this game. Play it all the time over at Haven."
"Well, fair warning, I'm kinda bad at this." Weiss said as she began resetting the game.
"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you, Snow Angel." Neptune said, giving the white-haired girl a wink.
"Oh my, what a gentleman." Weiss commented with a giggle, unaware at the scowl growing on Scythle's face.
"Though from the way your last game was going, we should probably team up against Mistral over there." Neptune suggested.
"Sure you're alright fighting your own Kingdom?" Weiss asked. "We can always switch some seats around if you'd like."
"I'm fine like this." Neptune stated. "I know a few strategies we can use with our current kingdoms."
"Are You Fucking Kidding Me?" Scythle muttered before plastering on a fake smile. "Uh, You Guys Go Ahead And Play Without Me, I Should Really Get Back To Emmy's Tour."
"Finally." Mercury commented as he snapped his book shut. "I was beginning to think I'd die of boredom."
"Though First Me And Emmy Need To Visit The Little Huntress's Room." Scythle said as she took Emerald's hand, guiding the girl out of the library.
"I Don't Believe This." Scythle grumbled as she pulled Emerald into the restroom. "I've Been Here For-Sorry, Do You Mind If I Rant At You For A Minute?"
Emerald shook her head at the purple-girl. "Not at all."
"Thanks." Scythle said before returning to her spiel. "I've Been Here For Months And Ice Queen Never Wanted Anything To Do With Me. Meanwhile, Kerry Shawcross Over There Just Waltzes On In And Gets Her Making Goo-Goo Eyes At Him With A Few Lines Of Dialogue Like He's The OC Insert. Like, Seriously, What The Hell?"
"Come on, Amy, you still have me." Emerald said.
"Yeah, I Know." Scythle said. "I Love You And All, But… You Can't Just Keep Me Tied Down To One Person. Is It Really So Wrong To Want A Harem?"
"Most would say yes." Emerald noted.
"Yeah, But We're Not Most." Scythle said. "I Mean, Come On, The World's Always Five Minutes Away From Being Destroyed, We Need To Fuck Like Crazy. Why Limit Yourself To Just One Person?... Speaking Of, Have You Found Anyone New Yet?"
"Uh-no, not really." Emerald sputtered. "I didn't want to start anything without your permission."
"Oh, Come On, Emmy, You Know I Wouldn't Be Mad." Scythle said before giving her girlfriend a grin. "So Long As You Share Her." Emerald began blushing at the remark before Scythle glanced over her shoulder, glaring again as she resumed her rant. "But, Seriously, What Does She See In Him That I Don't Have?"
"Where do you want me to start?" Emerald asked.
"Nowhere." Scythle said.
"Amy…" Emerald began before wrapping her free arm around Scythle's waist, pressing herself against the girl as she spoke. "How's about you and me do something to cheer you up?"
"Like What?" Scythle asked.
"You know…" Emerald said before wiggling her eyebrows, causing Scythle's eyes to widen before a smirk grew across her face. In an instant, their lips were against each other once again, before Scythle pulled Emerald to the tiled floor, the two quickly beginning to work their clothes off.
"You Sure You Don't Want To Spend The Night With Me?" Scythle asked her girlfriend as the two walked back to her dorm. "We Have Some Good Movies To Watch. The Hammock's Actually Comfier Than It Looks, And I'm Sure The Rest Of My Team Can Sleep Through Us Making Up For Lost Time."
"Amy, the dorm rooms can hardly accommodate five people, let alone six." Emerald said. "Besides, me and my team need to discuss strategies for the Vytal Tournament, and we'd rather not have one of the other teams spying on us."
"Aw, Don't Worry, I Can Keep A Secret." Scythle said.
"Even so, I think they'd be more comfortable like this." Emerald said before the two reached team RWBYS's door. "Plus, these things are already starting to ache." Emerald said as she lifted up her cuffed wrist. "We can do this again tomorrow if you'd like."
"Hmm, Okay." Scythle said, before reaching for Emerald's cuff to open it. "But We Get Started At This First Thing Tomorrow Morning."
"Of course." Emerald nodded as she turned to leave. "Oh, do you have any plans for the Beacon Dance?"
"Eh, Formal Stuff Like That Isn't My Thing." Scythle said, waving her hand after taking her cuff off.
"Well, even so," Emerald began before grabbing Scythle's waist, pressing her chest against Scythle's. "I'd love to have a chance to dance with you."
"… It's A Date!" Scythle said before she and Emerald pressed their lips together for the last time that night.
They separated with a pop and quickly untangled themselves from each other before Emerald turned to leave. "Goodnight, Amy." Emerald waved.
"Night, Emmy!" Scythle said before unlocking her door. "Hey, Sorry I Took So Long." Scythle said as she walked back into her team's dorm room. She was quickly greeted, for lack of a better word, by Blake as she sat by the windowsill, silently staring out into the darkening orange sky as Scythle spoke. "It Uh, Took A While To Find Emmy's Dorm." Blake continued to remain silent, and out of curiosity, Scythle approached the girl, looking into her eyes to see a distant stare before putting her hand into Blake's field of vision. "Uh, Hello, Ground Control To Minor Blake, Do You Copy?" Scythle asked.
Blake finally turned her eyes to look at the purple girl, giving Scythle a slight glare before she saw the rest of her team pour into the room, talking about the game of Remnant that went on longer than anticipated. With a sigh, Blake hopped out of bed, walking towards the door to leave before Scythle blurred over to it, blocking her path.
"Okay, Blake, Normally, You're Quiet, Moody, And Down Right Anti-Social." Scythle began to the girl. "But This Is A New Level."
"Yeah, you've barely said or done anything all day." Ruby added. "The food fight was the most involved you've gotten with us."
"And You Were Just Staring Blankly Off Into The Horizon." Scyhtle pointed out. "All Tell-Tale Symptoms Of Brooding Protagonist Syndrome."
"It-it's fine." Blake said.
"We Know You're Lying." Scythle said, shaking her head at the black-haired girl. "Come On, Talk To Us, Bay."
"… First off, never call me that again." Blake said.
"I Make No Promises."
"And second…" Blake began, before pulling up her Scroll. "Look at this." With that, Blake set her Scroll to widescreen mode, displaying the news articles of White Fang attacks and robberies to her team. "Scythle said she had trouble finding the fake White Fang attacks through the real ones, and looking into it… The actual White Fang's still active."
"Ah, Come On, Blakey-Wakey," Scythle began. "I Took Down Their Head Honchos In The First Chapter, Remember? I'm Pretty Sure I Put The Kibosh On That Whole Plotline."
"You say that, but…" Blake began, glancing over at the purple girl. "A lot of people in the White Fang were smart. They would have made back up plans."
"Blake, I'm Telling Ya, You're Over Reacting." Scythle said.
"What if I'm not, though?" Blake asked. "You guys don't know the White Fang like I do. If something like losing their leader were enough to stop them, they would have died out years ago."
"She makes a good point." Weiss said. "However, despite what you all seem to think, we're students. We should leave this to the professionals, like Ozpin or the police."
"Weiss, I Was Able To Run Circles Around Those Guys For Four Years Straight." Scythle pointed out.
"… Fair point…" Weiss muttered. "But even if they are still up to something, we have no idea what it could be."
"… Then let's find out." Ruby said.
"And how do you suppose we do that?" Weiss asked. "Go out and ask them?"
"… That Could Work Actually." Scythle said, drawing all attention to her. "Remember Those Goons Ramen Hired Back At Dust To Dust?" All of the girls nodded, Weiss quietly corrected the name before Scythle pointed to herself. "I Just So Happen To Be Rubbing Elbows With Their Boss."
"You murdered like thirty of them." Yang pointed out.
"Every Relationship Has Its Kinks." Scythle said. "But That's Beside The Point. I'll Just Go Into Town And Ask Junior If Anyone Mentioned Anythi-"
"Woah, wait, 'Junior?'" Yang asked, to which Scythle nodded. "Hei Xiong Junior?" Scythle nodded again, confirming the blonde's suspicion. "I know that guy too, did a bit of business with him in the past."
"If you can call it that." Ruby muttered.
"Why don't you and me pay him a visit tomorrow?" Yang asked, slinging her arm around Scythle's shoulder. "See what we can get from him."
"Sounds Like A Plan." Scythle smirked.
"I doubt you guys will find anything that way." Blake stated.
"You got a better idea?" Yang asked.
"Why get apples from the barrel when you can go to the tree?" Blake asked. "A White Fang rally should be meeting tomorrow. I'll go scope it out, see if they let anything slip."
"And while you guys do that," Ruby began, wrapping her arm around Weiss's waist to pull the girl closer. "Me and Weiss can check out the CCT and see if we can find more info on their heists. Then we put all our findings together and see what it points to."
"Why am I getting dragged into this?" Weiss asked.
"Hey, at least you're not going anywhere dangerous." Blake commented.
"Okay, The Mission To Save The World Starts Tomorrow Girls!" Scythle said in her best hero voice. "We Just Might Be Vytal's Last Hope. We Cannot Afford Failure!"
"I left my board game at the library!" Ruby gasped before darting to the door.
"We're doomed." Weiss commented as Ruby ran out into the hallway.
"'Oh, Scythle, I love you so much!'" Mercury mocked as Emerald came into their room, quickly causing the green-haired girl to scowl as she closed the door behind her. "'The months without you have just been agony. Never leave my side again.'"
"Ha ha ha, very funny, you jerk." Emerald said, swatting at the grey-haired boy's head as she passed him. Emerald gave the other occupant of the room a hard stare, seeing Neesha giving her a smirk. "Anything you'd like to add, Neo?" Emerald mockingly asked, and the black-haired girl waved her hand to the side as her irises changed from green to pink and brown.
"This better not be a problem, Emerald." Mercury said, giving Emerald a hardened look as the girl sat on her bed. "You know how Cinder gets about failure."
"It'll be fine." Emerald said. "I know Amethyst. Even if she figures us out, she won't try and stop us." Emerald let out a chuckle as she fell back into her bed, giving the ceiling a smile as she spoke. "If anything, she'll help us along." The smile quickly faded from Emerald's face as she looked around the room, before sitting up in her bed to look at the group. "Though speaking of problems, did you guys ever figure out where that new girl went?"
"She said she'll be back before curfew." Mercury said, holding up his Scroll to display the message from the brown-haired girl designated 'Ilia.' "She's scoping out the next target under the pretense of 'calling her family.'"
"Good." Emerald said. "She better not ruin this for us. She was a last-minute thing."
"Relax, she's used to lying, remember?" Mercury said. "I mean, she played human for how long?"
"How come Sun and Neptune didn't realize-" Because they're idiots, that's why.
Other than that, Emerald's remark of Ilia being a 'last-minute thing' isn't just a thing in-universe. I actually had no idea who I wanted their fourth member to be for a while, and you can clearly tell that by reading the chapter. I was ready to try and create an entirely new OC to fill the spot before I remembered Ilia and decided that I could easily be able to slip her into Cinder's spot on their team. Even helped me figure out a team name for them: ENMI, pronounced 'Enemy.' While it's a fun way of saying they're the bad guys, I'm taking suggestions for something fitting with RWBY's color motif. I found a RWBY Team Name Generator online, but it doesn't give me a pronunciation, so it wasn't much help.
Edit 1/9/2020: I found another name generator that actually explained what the names meant. One of the suggestions it gave was EBNI, pronounced ebony, which is very dark wood. While I'd prefer something that meant a shade of green, this can work. It still relates to Emerald because her last name can mean roots. Plus, everyone else on the team wears black. Still taking suggestions, though.
