Okay, guys, this is it. The last chapter. Are you ready? Because I'm not. This story has been a part of my life for almost two years. This baby's birthday is on February 20th, where does the time go? *ugly cries* Anyway, enough of my nostalgic ass. Enjoy the conclusion on our little family's journey.
ALSO! For reference on the videos please refer to Chapter 16: Hey Kady…
Forever Until Tomorrow
Two days after the showcase, Kady watches all the videos that her aunts and uncles and dad had made her before she was born. She laughed at how much they had changed and reveled in how they had remained the same. However, she hovers over the last video labeled Mom for almost a week. She was more nervous about this video since her mom was her favorite person in the world, and she was worried about what she had to say. With a deep breath, she clicks the video.
A younger version of Jade appears on the screen. Her hair is still dark, but it is lined with purple streaks.
"Is this stupid thing recording. Okay, there is the blinking red light," Jade leans back in the chair, "Hey there, my little demon, Kadydid, butterfly, raspberry. God, you have so many nicknames," Kady smiles. "It's me, your mom," Jade stands up, so her belly is in full view of the camera, and points at it, "and this…this is you. You are the size of a pineapple right now, and how do I know that? Because for some odd reason baby apps love to compare babies to fruit, and your dad is super obsessed with them." Jade sits back down facing the camera.
"In all seriousness, your dad and I said we would give these videos to you once you started high school, wherever that is, so I hope it's going well. I know how hard it can be. However, you might have turned out normal and nothing like me, and if you did or didn't…I'll still love you. For eight months you've been growing in here," Kady watches as her mom caresses her belly, "and I remember when I first heard your little heartbeat…I knew at that moment that I could never let you go," Jade's voice cracks as a few years run down her face, "I was so scared because your dad and I were just fixing our problems and becoming a couple again that I didn't know what the future would hold for the three of us. All I knew is that when the sound of…the sound of you, living and breathing, I knew at that moment that everything was going to be okay. No matter if your dad and I stayed together or fell apart. I knew both of us would love you through all of it." Jade brings a sleeve up to her eyes to wipe away the tears, "you might not have been planned, but you are most definitely the most wanted little girl now. Your daddy and I can't wait to hold you. Looking at your picture isn't enough now. We want to see which one of us you are going to look like. I want to see if you keep my eyes or you get your dad's. I want to know what you will love to play with, and what you want to be when you grow up. I can't wait to see you take your first steps, and I find myself wondering what your first word will be. I just want you in my arms because I keep feeling you move," Jade stops talking and grips her belly, making a grimacing face while laughing, "You always seem to know when I'm talking about you. It doesn't even take talking about you for you to kick me, you move so much, so I'm constantly asking myself, is she going to be a dancer? A soccer player? A martial arts champion? I don't know right now, and I don't even expect you to have it figured out by the time that you watch this. I do know one thing, Kady Vivian West-Oliver, and that is that no matter what you do. No matter who you turn out to be even if you turn out like Tori. I will always love you. I might not always show it. I might be too busy, but I love you. It took me a long time to learn that because I always thought my mom didn't love me because she was always gone or working, but feeling you grow inside me…I realized she never didn't love me. Just like I will never not love you, so if you ever forget I do, or something comes up that makes you think I don't…watch this video. Know that even though your dad and I aren't out of high school when you come around, and you weren't exactly planned…we love you so, so much. We couldn't be more ready for you. The three of us will be our own happy family as we go to New York in the Fall. We don't know how, but we know that everything is going to work out in the end because we love each other. We love you. We have amazing people supporting us. Everyone is waiting on edge to meet you. I might not know the reason that you are watching this video, my little demon, but whatever the reason I hope you found what you are looking for. I love you, Kady, with all my heart. Forever until tomorrow."
Kady shuts her laptop and wipes away the tears. She looks over at the picture of her parents, her, Alivia, and Eoghan with a smile on her face…it had been their last vacation to Italy before her dad went to Spain to film his new movie a month ago. She throws her laptop off her and makes her way downstairs. The clock in the kitchen read 11:23, but she still sees a light on in the living room. Jade is surrounded by piles of manuscripts in the large circle chair that sits in the corner of the living room with the floor lamp beside her. Her thick black glasses slide down her nose, as she lounges in one of Beck's old band t-shirts and leggings. Some scripts are thrown on the ground in some order, but Kady doesn't know it. Watching her mom go through BADE Studio movie scripts was a fascinating process. Kady steps backward ever so slightly, but the creaky wood floor gives away her position. Jade looks up from her current script.
"Kady?"
"Hi, mom," Kady sniffles, trying to hide the fact she had been crying earlier. Jade smiles and stacks the remaining scripts and puts them to the side. Kady immediately dives into the clear space, cuddling close to her mother.
"What's wrong?" Jade calmly strokes her daughter's hair, playing with the dark brown strands with teal ombre.
"I love you,"
"I love you, too, Kadydid, but that doesn't tell me what's wrong,"
"Nothing,"
"Well, I can't fix nothing, so I guess it's off to bed because you have school tomorrow," Jade begins to make movements to stand, but Kady tightens her grip around her waist.
"I'm just nervous,"
"About?"
"Everything. I just keep having this nagging feeling that I'm just not going to be good enough,"
"Why would you think that?"
"Some girls at school said I only got into Hollywood Arts because you paid for it," Jade tilts her eldest's face to meet hers. Blue connecting with blue.
"Well, I have a new pair of scissors, we can make all of their nice clothes disappear," Kady laughs before laying her head back down.
"Maybe next time,"
"Kady," Jade rests her cheek on Kady's head, "you got in because you are so very talented. You are mine so there was no way I wasn't passing it on to at least one kid, and they're just mad that a freshman passed them up and got to perform in the winter showcase," both of the women giggle loud enough that neither of register the door open and shut.
"I watched your video today,"
"Oh, yea?"
"You'll love me forever right?" Beck quietly sneaks up on his wife and daughter and listens quietly from the door frame leading to the kitchen.
"Forever until tomorrow,"
"Were you scared like you said in the video?"
"I was terrified. Still am,"
"I thought nothing scared you,"
"Well losing you scares me, losing your brother and your sister scares me, losing your dad also scares me," Jade looks up to see Beck standing in the doorway, and she gives him a slight smile. Beck raises his finger in a shushing movement to signify he wanted to remain hidden for a little while longer, "losing your Aunt Cat or Uncle André would also be scary,"
"What about Uncle Robbie and Aunt Tori?"
"Them…I don't think I would be all that scared of losing them," Kady cuddles deeper, as Beck comes quietly forward, sitting on the edge of the chair causing Kady to stir from her mother's embrace.
"Dad!" Kady smiles and pulls him onto the chair, so she is sandwiched between both of her parents.
"And no matter what at the end of the day, Raspberry," Beck and Jade share a peck over their daughter before he kisses Kady's hairline, "your mom and I love you."
"Forever until tomorrow?"
"Forever until tomorrow." Kady feels her eyes growing heavy, and she falls asleep to the sound of her parents' voices.
"You're home early,"
"We got done with the first stretch of the movie a little early, so I got the first flight back to have a few more days with you guys,"
"Well good because I'm tired of reading scripts for our company,"
"I will gladly help,"
"Good, but first you should take Kady back up to bed."
"Sounds like a plan." Beck lifts Kady into his arms, as he passes quickly through the back part of the house before heading upstairs. He gently lays her in bed before covering her in her thick black comforter. He puts her laptop onto her desk and turns on the overhead fan knowing that she couldn't sleep without it.
"Night, my little butterfly,"
"Night, Daddy," Beck turns back to see his daughter's sleepy eyes on him, "I'm glad your home."
"Me too, baby, me too. Now go to bed." She smiles and lets her eyes shut again. Beck goes down the hall checking on Alivia and then checking in onto the smallest of the West-Oliver clan, two-year-old, Eoghan, who was getting over a pretty nasty cold. He smiles when he sees him fast asleep, cuddling his beat-up cat stuffed animal, and quickly goes back downstairs to the waiting arms of Jade.
"Why, hello there, beautiful, come here often?" Beck looks down at her as he runs his fingers through his hair.
"Twenty-four-seven, some days, two-year-olds with a cold don't wipe their own noses,"
"Has he been awful?"
"Well, he went to bed pretty quickly tonight, last night he was up half the night, so he ended up sleeping with me so he wouldn't wake up the other two,"
"I'll take him tonight if he wakes up,"
"Like you had a choice, you silly man," Jade places a chaste kiss on his lips. Beck scoots farther onto the chair, pulling Jade on top of him. They find themselves in a passionate make-out session like they have so many times before.
"I missed you," Beck says between kisses.
"What are you going to do about it?" Beck smiles and stands, lifting Jade with his. She squeals and wraps her legs around his waist as he walks them back to their room their mouths never leaving each other. He deposits her on the bed and rolls down her leggings before taking off his shirt. Jade smiles up at her husband, but she places a hand on his chest to stop him.
"What's up?"
"How do you feel about blueberries?"
"Blueberries? What do you mean?" Jade raises an eyebrow at his confused expression.
"Yes, blueberries. Specifically, things that are the same size as them?" Beck looks at her confused for a few more seconds before a lightbulb clicks in his head. He captures his lips with hers with a smile plastered on both of their faces. His lips travel downward placing gentle kisses all over her belly.
"Well, hey there, little one. When did you find out?"
"This afternoon. I thought I would surprise you when you came home next week, but since you are here now,"
"Surprise me now?" Jade smiles down at his. "So much for enjoying the three we have,"
"What's one more?"
"What if this pregnancy is awful?"
"It will be, don't worry." Beck smiles into his wife's still flat stomach, "Hey, babe?"
"Yea?" Beck looks back up to meet Jade's eyes.
"Since you are down there…" Jade wiggles her eyebrows and bites her bottom lip.
"With pleasure, my lady." Beck hooks his thumbs underneath her underwear and brings them down her long, shapely legs before diving back into her center which causes Jade to fall back and arch off the bed with a gasp.
"Fuck, I've missed you." Was all Jade could get out while Beck took her upwards to Nirvana.
Jade moves her satin sheet covered body closer to Beck's, tracing circles in his bare chest.
"I missed you, Jade, too,"
"I missed you more. Tell me you love me,"
"I love you forever until tomorrow," Beck places a kiss into Jade's hair. Jade smiles and curls closer into Beck.
"Good."
JUNE 20, 2029
All six eyes looked over the two bassinets in the room.
"Kady," Kady looks down at the two-year-old in her arms.
"Yes, Eoghan,"
"Does this mean I'm a big brother and Cillian is a big brother?"
"No, Isla is a big sister though,"
"Why is she a big sister?"
"Cause she was born nine minutes earlier than Cillian."
"Oh." Jade and Beck look on at their five children with three of them happily discussing the newest additions.
"Told you that this pregnancy was going to be terrible. There were two instead of one," Jade takes Beck's hand with a smile.
"Well, at least you know you can't have another one,"
"Thank God, I've been having babies since I was eighteen," Jade gestures towards her lower half, "she has done her job, so she can deal with her tubes being tied. Plus, there is a fifteen-year difference between Kady and these two…I feel like doing any bigger of a difference just isn't fair,"
"Agreed, but hey" Beck gently squeezes her hand, and both exchange a smile, "we did pretty good despite all of the storms, right?"
"Shelter is important," Kady looks back at her mom and smiles at her, "but yea, we did good."
*looks around* it's done? Well, shit, now what do I do?
Guys, thank you so much for joining me on this journey. It has been a ride! Gotta say despite that year break…I'm happy with this story. It turned out so much better than I thought it would. Maybe I'll continue with the adventures of the West-Oliver children, but probably not for a bit. Thank you to everyone who commented on this. Favorited it. Followed it. You are the reason I came back to it. Without you, we would have never concluded this journey. You guys have my heart. Thank you again and ship Bade.
Love,
KMA
