PSA : An Open Letter to You, My Dear Readers
Hello to all of you out there in AO3 or FF land. I need to start off by apologizing to you. Just short of a year ago, I posted my last chapter for this fic. Was it the end? No. Not by a long shot. There was still so much more I had to tell. But at that point, my life got incredibly hectic. A business I was trying to get off the ground, in order to write more, took off and swept me into a whirlwind of work. Writing was nearly forgotten, and when I was able to sit and write, nothing came. Nothing. A bit of drivel, a few lines; everything just got erased at the end of the writing time and put away.
Well, TRoS was released, my life has calmed down for the moment and here we are. A fandom who was robbed of it's 'happily ever after' to service the 'fanbois' and the almighty dollar. And I can not sit here and allow that to be the ending. I have had some time to sit with my thoughts about the movie, which I will not be sharing at the moment. I know so many of you are upset for one reason or another and please know I am too. But my biggest issue was the lazy, sloppy and down right uninspired writing. So I have decided to heal and help by continuing this story (which had been the plan all along). I will NOT be following much of what was established as canon in TRoS. I will be continuing the story with our space lovers and their angst to the ending I had originally wanted. Poe, the proud son of Rebellion fighters, will not be a 'Spice runner'. Finn may have an understanding of the Force, similar to Maz Kanata, but he is NOT Force sensitive. His choice to leave the First Order was just that... HIS CHOICE. And most of all Rey will always be, 'just Rey'. Not Rey Palpatine. Not Rey Skywalker. Just Rey. The girl who was finally finding herself in TLJ. Who had left the naivety of girlhood behind and was exploring not only her place in the Force but her newly burgeoning womanhood. And Ben Solo/Kylo Ren will have an actual redemption arc. He is not a punching bag for the Forces of evil to do with as they will. He is an adult who has been manipulated since childhood. He has finally seen this and realizes that he can choose his path. He does not have to follow in anyone's footsteps.
The relationship between Rey and Kylo/Ben is multifaceted and not always healthy. But whose relationship is always perfect. They must accept each other for their faults as well as their strengths. There can be no stipulation that Rey only wants Ben. With Ben comes Kylo, just as with Rey comes her darkness too. Simply because she hasn't named it doesn't mean it isn't there. We've seen her lash out in anger and fear. Anywho...
I just wanted to come and let you know the REAL Chapter 30 will be posted soon, and I will try to get the rest out in some kind of regular schedule. I have not abandoned you and I hope you stick with me until the end. Much love to you all, and Rian Johnson for giving us an incredibly well written script that explored not only the galaxy of Star Wars but the characters weaknesses as well as their strengths.
