{well this was bound to happen eventually, time to firmly set in place one of the major differences my au has from canon... besides everything else but like plot points- idk what I'm rambling about... William and Henry! Man I gotta write these two when they're younger and not messed up more. They were so wholesome before they needed therapy.
No OCs to be seen here!
End of note}
It was a cold rainy day at the diner. Wasn't too terribly busy so Henry and William had decided to make this a more dedicated maintenance day. Fredbear and Springbonnie wouldn't be up on stage as Much but they had suit guys keeping the customers entertained.
"Daddy?" A small voice spoke from the doorway of the back room, both men looked over and spotted Henry's daughter Charlie poking her head in. Henry smiled towards her as she ran over and hugged him.
"What are you doing sneaking in here doodlebug?" Henry laughed while he scooped the little girl into his arms.
"Nobody's here to play with and I'm bored." She stuck her tongue out. "And I wanted to see you and uncle William work!" She giggled which got a smile to form on Williams face.
"Well that's flattering, but we can't have you learning the behind the scenes secrets, that'd ruin the magic" William joked while lightly spinning the wrench in his hands.
"She already watches me work from home, I think it's already too late for that, Will" Henry laughed back. Charlie looked down at the table and made grabby hands towards the bracelet Henry was working on.
"Oh? You want to see my most recent project?" Henry grinned as Charlie nodded eagerly. The man picked up the bracelet with one hand and carefully flipped a tiny switch on it, causing the bracelet to light up green. "It's a new security measure I'm developing, you remember Security puppet back in the dining room right?" Henry asked as Charlie paused to thing then nodded.
"That's the puppet near the door right? Sounds like bells!" She exclaimed as Henry nodded. "Not only does it play music, but it also keeps track of kids with these colored bracelets on. So single parents don't have to be worried about their kiddos running off unsupervised" Henry happily explained. William quietly listened with a smile, he also thought the idea was good, though hearing how passionate his partner was about it was always a joy to hear.
"Oooo! It's pretty" Charlie giggled. She then got a look in her eyes Henry recognized all too well, so he was fully prepared when she suddenly asked. "Can I try it?"
"Well... it's still in testing." Henry hums and William shrugs.
"I say let her wear it, worse case scenario is the puppet gets a little clingy. Besides, it can't hurt since nobody else is watching her today." Charlie grins, happy to have uncle Williams support in this endeavor.
"Alright alright, it can't hurt" Henry sighs and sets Charlie on the desk to place the green security band on her wrist, he adjusts the length so it won't slip off and carefully sets the child back into the floor. "Be good okay? Also let me know if Security puppet gets a little too clingy, it'll be a big help to iron out those pesky bugs." Henry smiled warmly at his child as she nodded eagerly, giving him one last hug before skipping out of the back.
"So, who's idea was it to bring Charlie to work anyhow?" William asked after she left. Henry gave a nervous chuckle,
"Mine actually, My wife is already busy with watching Sammy so I thought I'd make things a little easier on her. And you know that Charlie's a good kid, she won't cause too much trouble." William gave his own chuckle back.
"I'm jealous, I couldn't do that with My kids,.. well maybe Connor, but he'd just hide under a table and uh... yah I don't want to do that to a kid." William winced slightly as Henry patted his shoulder. "I'm sure when he's older he'll be braver. But enough about our kids, we should get back to work." William nodded and the two did just that.
~~~~~~
Some time had passed and Henry was looking towards the backroom door. He wasn't sure why but he just had this feeling of something being wrong. He just couldn't place why. He had essentially stopped working now, leaving just William to fix up spring Bonnie... which is what would be happening if that disaster of a man wasn't sleep deprived and had passed out on the workbench. Henry decided he couldn't just sit anymore and stood up, shaking William awake.
"Ahns- I'm up what needs fixed?!" William snorted while shaking the grogginess out of him.
"I'm going to check on Charlie, hold the fort down for me okay?" Henry asked but William decided to stand up. "No, I'll come with you, I need to stretch my legs anyway," he stretched his back until it gave a satisfying pop, and soon the two men left the backroom.
Henry scanned the dining room floor, everything seemed normal. Kids were laughing, patrons were eating pizza. But still that feeling of dread didn't leave.
"Uh Henry... did the puppet leave its box?" William mumbled to his partner, when Henry turns to where the security puppets box was he froze. The present box was empty, with various other smaller gift boxes scattered on the floor.
"Where's Charlie?" Henry asked, worry clear in his face now. William looked around the room but didn't see her, so he pulled aside another worker and asked,"Have you seen a little girl around? Dark curls, had a green glowing bracelet on?" The employee shook his head, then seemed to recall something.
"I think saw her outside"
"Outside!?" William couldn't help but raise his voice, This now got Henry's attention, who was now looking over.
"How long ago was this?" William interrogated, causing the employee to shrink back. "I-I'm not sure sir, a while ago? I didn't keep track"
William swore under his breath as Henry quickly made his way out the door.
Shoving the front door of the diner open Henry ran out into the looting rain, a cold gust of air hitting his face, but he ignored it and called out. "Charlie!? Where are you??" William wasn't far behind him, the taller man looked around, but it was hard to see in this horrible weather.
That was until he spotted skinny drag marks, they were the perfect size to be the Security puppet,
"Henry." He pointed and soon the shorter Man was dashing to follow the trail. They both soon found themselves in the alleyway next to the building, it was dark, the street lamp barely reaching this far, Henry's gaze followed the track to its final destination. His eyes fell upon the slumped over security puppet, sparking slightly from water damage, curled over the smaller form of...
"Charlotte!" Henry cried while dashing over to the child and falling to his knees. He scooped the child into his arms and immediately was filled with horror. She was ice cold, and unmoving.
"C-Charlie! Oh god, no, stay with me doodlebug." Henry cried briefly turning back to William, who was struck immobile from the shock, and begged. "Call an ambulance!" This got the man to move again. he quickly nodded and dashed back inside confusing both staff and customers alike when he booked it to the office to use the phone.
Henry was left alone outside in the rain, holding his only daughter close, praying for a miracle for her to be alive and recover.
But he wasn't so lucky.
