AN: Happy Holidays 2019!
After a relaxing soak in the tub, Taina changed into her comfy pink pajama set. She wasn't going to sleep anytime soon. She was too nervous. There was a soft knock on the door. Curious, but wary about who it could be, she cautiously answered the door. To her surprise, Robin was standing there.
"Robin!" Taina exclaimed as she gave him a tight hug. Returning the hug, Robin quickly stepped into the room and said,
"Are you okay? I heard about what happened."
"Yes, I think so. He didn't really hurt me, but I'm just shaken up."
"I'm glad you're okay. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you."
"It's not your fault, Robin. It's mine. I shouldn't have gone on that stupid date with him."
"It's no one's fault but his. He chooses to try and hurt you. He's lucky he didn't have to deal with me. I wouldn't let him off so easy."
"You're not mad at me?"
"Of course not. You did nothing wrong, Taina." Robin said as he pulled her close. Placing a gentle kiss on top of her head, Robin let out a small sigh,
"I'm just glad you're okay. I'm here for you." Tears welled up in Taina's eyes as she clung to Robin tightly. She began to cry as she was consumed with the overwhelming day's events. She couldn't even talk instead she sobbed into his chest for several minutes. Robin allowed her to let it out in peace. Stroking her back, he stayed silent and allowed her to release everything. All cried out, Taina took a small step back and said,
"I'm tired. Will you stay the night?" Without hesitation responded,
"I'll be right here with you." Making their way over to the bed, Robin took off his boots, cape, and gloves. Taina settled herself into bed and Robin quickly followed. He held her close as she drifted off to sleep. Robin, on the other hand, was restless. He was so angry. All he could think about was Taina. Her almost being raped shook him. Before tonight, Robin naively thought that Joker and Harley were Taina's only dangers in her life. Now it became apparent that "normal" everyday dangers were a worry too. Honestly, Robin was scared. Joker and Harley were one thing, but the average citizen was another. As much as he always wanted to be with her to keep her safe, that just wasn't possible. He had to trust Taina would be okay and that scared him. Eventually, Robin fell into a restless sleep as he held her tightly.
Taina woke up to Robin gently shaking her awake. Sleepily she opened her eyes and was met with Robin looking down at her.
"Good morning, Taina." Robin greeted her as he placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
"Morning, Robin," Taina replied as she yawned and slowly sat up.
"I just wanted to let you know I'm leaving now."
"You're leaving right now?"
"Yes. I'm sorry but I have to go. I wish I could stay longer."
"It's okay. I get it."
"Don't forget Dr. Sanchez is coming today."
"Thanks for the reminder. With everything going on I forgot."
"No problem. I'll see you later. I'm sorry I can't stay longer." Robin embraced Taina tightly. As he pulled away, Taina grabbed him and they exchanged a passionate kiss. After a moment, both blushed and Taina said,
"See you later."
"See you later," Robin responded as he made his way out of the room. Sighing Taina glanced at the clock. Seeing that it was 6 AM, she decided to try and get some sleep and laid back in bed. Her mind wandered to yesterday's events. She forced herself to think of something else but her mind kept thinking of Drew. In an effort to get him off her mind, she turned on Netflix and tried to get lost in the world of Charmed. It worked. After a few episodes, Taina decided to get dressed. She decided to wear a knee-length white dress, white socks, and white Converse. Styling her hair into two ponytails and tying them with a white ribbon, she looked at herself in the mirror. Her outfit and hairstyle gave her a younger look. Instead of sixteen, she could pass for thirteen. This was intentional. Taina hoped by looking younger than what she was, that way she wouldn't attract unwanted sexual attention. Suddenly Taina remembered pedophiles existed and let out a deep sigh as she put her hair into a messy bun and applied a deep red lipstick to her lips. There was no use in trying to appear younger than she was. It wouldn't guarantee her safety. Her stomach growled. She made her way to the mini-fridge and grabbed a peach yogurt. Careful not to dirty her dress, Taina scarfed it down. Still hungry, Taina dialed room service and ordered chicken and waffles. While she waited for the food to come, she watched Charmed.
"Let's talk about what happened yesterday." Dr. Sanchez said. She eyed Taina carefully as she spoke.
"I don't know where to start," Taina answered as she played with a hair tie.
"You can start anywhere but I recommend the beginning." Giving a small sigh, Taina told Dr. Sanchez about Drew. From meeting him at the pool to him staring at her breasts to when he attacked her, Taina told her everything. Once she started to talk, it all just came out. There was no stopping her and Dr. Sanchez made no attempts to. After Taina finished, Dr. Sanchez took a moment to absorb everything before replying,
"What Drew did to you was horrible. I'm sorry this happened to you. How do you feel?"
"Guilty. I blame myself. Robin and I are⦠together and yet I went on a date with another guy."
"It's not your fault. Going on a date with someone else doesn't justify them attacking you."
"I know. No one blames me but I do. It's hard not to. I was finally having a good day and I just wanted to enjoy myself. Do you know what it's like to be depressed and then when you start to feel like a person again you get hurt? I just wanted to be normal for once. The signs were all there that Drew was no good but I ignored them."
"It's easy to overlook red flags. People do it all the time. You're not the first person to do so and you won't be the last. Think of this as a learning experience. In the future, you know what warning signs to look for and can act accordingly."
"That's true. Robin doesn't blame me."
"Good. He shouldn't. As much as you want to blame yourself, none of this is your fault. You didn't make Drew hurt you."
"I did decide to go out with Drew."
"Going out on a date with someone doesn't give them an invitation to your body or an excuse for them to hurt you. Remember that."
AN: I know this part is slower than my previous update. I have a major update coming up soon. I plan on breaking it up into two or three parts. I'm able to write more because I'm currently out of school and looking for employment so I have lots of free time to write. Please leave a review of what you think happens next, what you would like to see, and suggestions. Thank you and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
