The Alpha Female

Chapter 29

Paul was confused. He hadn't seen or heard from Victoria in a few days. He had woken up in the hotel room alone the morning following their rough fucking and had expected to see the redhaired vampire at some point that day, but he hadn't. No word from her at all, nothing. It wasn't like Victoria to not check in on him, so it had him wondering where she was and what she was doing.

After a week of not hearing from the redhead, Paul decided to go searching for her. Leaving the hotel, he walked down the street in silence, noting that there was a bit of sun shining through the cloud cover, but not much. There was a possibility that she may not even be out and about. Then again, leeches didn't just roam around outside like normal people. Then again, they weren't even people. But he felt that if he just walked and looked around for Victoria, he'd be able to spot her somewhere.

It wasn't long before Paul stopped walking altogether, having caught the scent of a vampire. There was a slight breeze in the air and the stench was wafting his way. Following it, he drew closer and closer to the scent until he was right on top of it. There, not even fifty-yards from him, was Victoria. Not only her, but there was also the leech-lover's leech with her, as well as another that he hadn't seen before. But from what he could tell, Victoria knew him and was comfortable with him. The three vampires didn't seem to notice he was there, rather caught up in their own conversation. Frowning, Paul moved a tad closer to eavesdrop on them, all the while keeping his mind closed off from the mind-reader. He could at least be thankful to the baby Alpha for letting that information be known to the Pack from the little leech-lover. At least she was good for something, since she wasn't good for anything else but causing trouble. Closing off his mind, Paul listened in on the three vampires' conversation.

"Victoria, do you have any idea what you are going to do now?" the mind-reader asked rather irritated. "It's been a week since I helped you destroy your newborn army and you've yet to think of anything good to help me get Bella back and get rid of Jacob Black."

"Shut up, Cullen," Victoria hissed back at him. "My main plan was the army, but since those stupid wolves discovered it and Paul's stupid ass let me know they knew, I had to act fast and scrap it. And getting rid of those newborns weren't easy since they fought back, but luckily we got rid of them all."

Paul's eyes widened in surprise. So there really had been an army of newborn vampires? And Victoria had created them all? So she really had made them to take out the Pack? And she had to destroy them because he let her know that he and the Pack knew about it? It was hard for him to believe and he didn't want to believe it, but before he could ponder on it more they started talking again.

"Yes, and it's a good thing that we did. Those creatures are vile and vicious with absolutely no self-control."

"Oh please, don't act like you're above the rest of our kind. You and your coven may think you're better than the rest of us, drinking animal blood and mingling among the humans, befriending them and even getting a little jiggy with others, but underneath that façade is the same kind of monster that they fear and don't even know exist. You are the same cold, bloodthirsty, soulless monster that I am, and don't you forget it."

Edward seemed to bristle from her speech and grabbed her by her neck and growled out, "Don't presume to know me, Victoria. I am nothing like you."

Victoria smiled mockingly at him. "Oh, but you are. Don't act like you've never tasted human blood before or had your own personal bloodbag attached to your hip to take a sip of whenever you wanted."

"I've never sunk my teeth into Bella!"

"Lies."

The third vampire, the other male, growled at Edward and pushed him away from Victoria, causing him to release her neck before saying, "Keep your hands off of my mate."

Mate? Paul couldn't help but think incredulously. That bitch has a mate and still fucked me?

Edward chuckled before saying condescendingly, "She actually has you believing she is your mate. I pity you for what you don't really know."

"Shut up!" Victoria hissed, her red eyes flashing in anger, shaking slightly.

The other vampire, mistaking Victoria's anger for her being upset with Cullen for making fun of their relationship, growled at him again and said, "Keep your mouth shut about Victoria and me. And I know everything that Victoria has told me, and I know it's your stupid human's fault that she is resorting to measures like this, and you are involved as well. The only reason we're allowing you to stick with us is to help us get rid of those stupid wolves. You want a certain one gone, Victoria wants them all gone. We get rid of them, and then we get our hands on the girl. After that we can fight it out for who gets her. But until then, our main focus is thinking up a plan to get rid of those wolves."

Victoria smiled proudly at him before smirking at Edward. "And lucky for us, we have one at our disposal, giving us plenty of information to use. And the most valuable information that he's given us is that your human is the mate of the Pack's Alpha. We'll use that to our advantage."

"I don't want any harm to come to Bella," Edward stated.

"None will, for now anyway."

"Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go hunting."

Paul watched as Edward turned and walked over to where his silver Volvo was parked, getting inside of it and driving away. Victoria and her companion watched him leave before turning and walking down the street and out of sight. With his presence no longer needing to be hidden, Paul stepped out from his hiding spot and stared seemingly at nothing, his mind unbelievably processing all that he had heard.

Victoria, his partner in crime, had double-crossed him and planned out killing his Pack, his family. Not only that, but it was obvious she was planning on killing him as well. She had used him, and he had willingly let her, even going so far as to give her information that should have stayed within the Pack. He had put his tribe, his family, his Pack in danger because of his recklessness. And for what? Because he had a bone to pick with Jacob and Bella?

Feeling worthless and completely stupid, Paul quickly turned and ran back to the hotel, intent on getting his things and heading back to La Push. However, he had a feeling that he wasn't going to be welcome, and just made a note to steel himself for a freezing cold reception.

Bella sighed as she stepped out of the shower, grabbing her towel and using it to dry her hair before wrapping it around her body. However before she did, she took a look at herself in the mirror, more specifically at her pregnant stomach. She was now officially a month pregnant, but her stomach seemed to now be that of a woman who was three months along, not one. It amazed her that her baby was growing at the rate it was, and yet it still warmed her insides and heart to know that the baby she and Jacob had created was growing inside of her.

Smiling, she caressed her stomach a bit before grabbing her towel and wrapping it around her naked body. She then left the bathroom and headed to her bedroom, intent to put on some clothes. Once in her bedroom, she toweled herself dry before getting a clean pair of underwear from her drawer and stepped into them, pulling them up on her hips. She grabbed a bra and put that on as well before moving to get a clean pair of jeans. Getting a pair of faded blue ones, she stepped into them and buttoned and zipped them before moving to get a clean t-shirt. However, the moment she turned around she let out a surprised scream.

Sitting in her rocking chair, as if it was the most normal thing in the world, was Edward Cullen. Bella hadn't seen him in so long, not since she had attacked him at his house and threatened him to keep away, that it actually surprised her to see him back in her room. Quickly getting her bearings she asked, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Edward stared at Bella for a moment before smiling lovingly at her and saying, "It is so good to see you again, my love. I've missed you terribly."

"Well, I haven't missed you. And don't call me that; I'm not your love."

"You will always be mine, Bella."

"Get out!"

Bella grabbed the nearest t-shirt in her room and put it on, not realizing it was Jacob's until she caught his scent as she pulled it over her head and the fabric brushed her nose. The shirt practically swallowed her, stopping almost at her knees, but she was glad that it was so big. It covered her pregnant stomach and she was afraid of what Edward would do to her or her baby if he found out she was expecting, and with Jacob especially. Luckily, it didn't seem as if he did, too focused on her face to even think of looking at her midsection.

Fully presentable, Bella glared at him and said firmly once again, "Get out, Edward. Get out now, or I won't hesitate to kill you in this very room."

Edward's eyes widened at her threat before asking, "You'd dare to taint this room where we spent so many lovely moments together? Where you opened yourself up to me? Where you professed your love-"

"Shut up, Edward; just shut up. I don't want you, will never want you again, and it was a mistake to love you."

"Surely you don't mean that." Edward looked very hurt.

"Oh, but I do."

"Even after all the pleasure I've brought to your miserable life?"

"You brought nothing but hell into my life, hell I was too blind to see at the time. You brought so much hell into my life, but I'm not going to allow you to bring anymore."

Edward sneered and retorted, "Jacob Black brings more hell than I ever have, and you will soon realize that and come crawling back to me."

The brunette was instantly incenced. "The hell I will! Jacob has done nothing but brought me absolute joy back into my life, and he always will. I'm not going to allow you to ruin that for me, for us. But I know it won't happen until you are out of our lives for good, until all of this has ended. But don't worry, I'm going to put an end to it. In fact, I'm ending this with you right now."

Bella charged Edward—her cheekbones becoming more pronounced, her ears pointing, her eyes brightening and growing wide, fur sprouting from the sides of her face, canines elongating, and her nails lengthening to claws—and shoved him forcefully into her bedroom wall, the rocking chair he was sitting upon breaking into splinters. She claws viciously at his face, her claw marks present on his marble skin, and made a grab for his neck. Edward however, pushed her off him and she flew across the room and slammed into the opposite wall, then falling to the floor. Pieces of drywall fell on top of her as she looked up at her ex and growled, Edward's own expression showing that he was pissed off.

Stepping towards her he said, "Bella, enough of these games and this recklessness."

Instead of answering, Bella let out what sounded like a small roar and launched herself at Edward again, catching him by surprise as she aimed for his midsection and slammed him into her dresser, the furniture breaking collapsing underneath them. Edward grabbed her, his touch burning her skin as usual but Bella was not caring at the moment. All she cared about was ripping Edward's head from his shoulders. She slammed him into her bedroom door, crashing through it and into the hallway of her home. Bella made to move to attack him again, but was met instead by a kick to the chest.

The kick knocked the wind out of her and sent her down the hallway and rolling down the steps. Hitting the bottom, Bella looked up to see Edward staring down at her from the top before his sped towards her. Because her eyes could now catch how fast he was moving, she reached up and punched Edward in the face as he was right over top of her, watching as he flew back into the stairs, crushing several of them under his rock hard body.

Taking the opportunity, Bella jumped on him with a feral scream and threw her claws at him, scratching and scraping at him with everything that she had. Edward was trying to pry and push her off but found himself unable to. For whatever reason, he could not get Bella off him. It was relentless and it was like something had taken a hold of her, something that was making sure he couldn't get up or get away. Looking into her now hazel-yellowish eyes, Edward saw pure hatred, contempt, and disgust all aimed at him. It was emotions he wasn't used to seeing from the girl that he loved and with what she was doing right now, he had to admit to himself that seeing this side of Bella frightened him.

When clawed hands caught his head in a death grip, Edward's amber eyes widened and he began attempting to push Bella away, especially as he felt her beginning to tug on his head. Desperate to stop her he cried, "Bella stop!"

"No!" Bella yelled, tugging harder.

The sound of cracking stone was heard, and Edward could feel his head beginning to separate from his neck. Now entirely scared he shouted, "BELLA!"

Bella let out one more feral scream before giving a hard, vicious tug. That tug brought Edward's head clean away from him body, his body going slump on the broken staircase. Panting, Bella stood up off Edward and backed away, his head still held in her hand, her grip on his copper hair. Holding it up, she looked at the Adonis face that she was once in love with, taking in the horror frozen on it, the horror present in the golden eyes.

Feeling herself begin to tremble, Bella dropped Edward's head and watched it roll towards the closed front door. Backing up, she stopped when her back hit the wall leading into the kitchen and slid down it, tears welling up in her eyes and rolling down her cheeks. Pulling her knees up to her chest, a sob escaped her throat before Bella began to really sob, burying her head into her knees.

It was over, it was finally over. Yet, she wasn't sure if her tears were because of that fact, because she had finally closed a chapter in her life, or because the old part of her that had once loved the vampire she had just killed was mourning. She did not know, and yet the tears flowed freely anyway.
