Destiny Of Merida Bogo Chapter 29
Merida can honestly say that staying in the ZPD as an officer in the force after Judy up and quit is basically the toughest thing she has ever done. The two were closer than sisters so it almost killed Merida that her best friend was gone. But Merida told herself that she made a commitment to protect and safeguard the city so she chose to stay.
Zootopia has been falling into a disastrous downward spiral that's sent the city into a severe state of unrest that's been devastating to the population at large. Zootopia has always been a place where both prey and predators could live together in harmony without discrimination or fear. And now that's to all these outbreaks amongst predators one after the other that's all falling apart with animals turning against each other left and right.
The ZPD is doing its uttermost best to maintain law and order, but even the police force has its limitations.
The strain is hitting all of them hard.
While it may be tearing other people apart it's in fact brought Merida and Chief Bogo closer together as a family. Since the formerly estranged father and daughter have reconciled they've been working together a hell of a lot closer both professionally and unprofessionally. Never before has their bond been at its strongest. It's something the father and daughter pair are very grateful and appreciative for. Chief Bogo even made a passing suggestion during dinner one night that perhaps Merida might consider moving back in with him. Merida was extremely touched by the generous and heartfelt offer, but respectfully refused. She's comfortable living at her apartment even if there's one less occupant than there should be.
While things may be improving with Chief Bogo that is far from the case with Nick. After that wreck of a press conference Merida tried to keep in contact with Nick after Judy left the ZPD. She even attempted talking him into applying to the academy just as he was about to do before Judy had that unfortunate slip of the tongue.
No dice.
Nick outright refused. The reason is unspoken, but Merida suspects it's because he's a predatory species and there's always been a stigma on foxes and so doesn't see the point. It would simply be a waste of time. No, he's more comfortable with the life he's leading now.
Nick made sure to steer clear of Merida after that making it clear that he doesn't want to hear or see her again. Merida respects that, but that didn't mean Merida is just going to let him fall off the grid. Merida keeps her distance complying with his wishes, but out of concern for him she secretly keeps track of his activity's and whereabouts without interference.
So far he's been doing all right which leaves Merida left trying to keep Zootopia together and all without a partner.
Then one day a few weeks after the debacle in the Mayors office Merida gets a call she's been hoping and waiting for.
Suddenly while Merida is in the middle of her shift on patrol around the city in her squad car her phone rings.
Picking it up and answering the call where her phone is attached to the dashboard so it doesn't distract her from driving, Merida said "This is Officer Bogo. Go ahead."
"Merida, it's me," said Judy.
It's a good thing Merida was at a stop sign at the time she answered this or it would not have been pretty.
Foot slamming all the way on the break after she was already slowing down, Merida exclaimed "Judy?!"
"Merida, listen to me. I need you to go to the train station. I'm on a train heading into the city and I need you to pick me up," said Judy, urgently.
"Whoa! Whoa! Hold up. You haven't contacted me for days, ignoring my calls, and now you just appear out of the blue. What's this about," said Merida, brow furrowed.
"I know what's causing random predators to go savage," shouted Judy.
That kicked Merida into high gear.
Merida was soon outside the train station waiting for Judy's arrival. In the end it's not even necessary for Merida to even step foot inside the station.
Judy comes dashing out of there as if her very life depends on it. As Judy frantically searches for the patrol vehicle Merida honks the horn so Judy can figure out where she's parked.
The two of them didn't waste any time.
Not beating around the bush, Judy said "I think I know what's been causing the epidemic."
"Spill it," said Merida.
"The Night Howlers. They aren't a pack of wolves. It's a plant! Night Howlers are a type of flower where when exposed to them can revert an animal back to its primal state. Turning them savage. Remember those bulbs we confiscated from that weasel on our first day?"
Nodding, Merida said "Yes."
"Those were Night Howlers. Listen to me on the way here I went over it all. Whoever is infecting these predators with the Night Howlers needs a way to restock their supply whenever they dry. Someone like that weasel has to be the supplier. All we have to do now is find and interrogate it out of him."
"All right, I see what you're getting at. But we still have to find him. He could be anywhere in this city," reminded Merida.
Exhaling deeply in unease, Judy admits "That's why we're going to need Nicks help. We have to find him first."
"Judy…You do know after what happened he's not gonna be all that receptive, right," said Merida, carefully.
Exhaling deeply, running her hands over her face, Judy said "I know, but we need his help. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to makes things right both for him and the city."
"That's good to hear. As it so happens I might know where he is this time of day. It'll surprise you to hear that I've actually been keeping track of Nick since he vanished on us that day. Cross your paws that he's there or we're screwed," forewarned Merida.
Time to convince Nick to help them.
Easier said than done given the circumstances.
Authors Note:
Hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
I've been meaning to get back to this one for a while and only now I've managed to find time and inspiration for it. I'm very satisfied and happy about it.
I recently put up some other works I've put out at titled Secret Of Bristol Cove, Predators Redemption, A Revolutionary Romance, Fantine Tezla: Hot Wheels Acceleracers, Magic And the Brave Little Toaster 1, Lavinia: Princess Of Edelweiss, Rorschach's Legend, Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender, The 8th Loser, Naomi Poldark: Mistress Of Nampara, Serenity: End Guardian To The Moors, Dido Cruger: Power Rangers SPD, and Nuala: The White Lioness. By the way Rorschach's Legend and Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender are the newest additions to my profile. If you're a fan of Watchmen and the new series on HBO coming up soon then I recommend that you check it out. Since it was just recently uploaded I really would enjoy hearing other peoples thoughts on the subject matter so far. So feel free to do so if you have the time.
I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D
For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance.
