Chapter 25: Uchiha massacre
Kakashi and Yuki had happily been married for at least two years. With the newest addition to their little family, Kurow.
The little pup was in many ways just like his namesake. Flashy, social, patient and friendly. Kurow had silver fur with pale yellow half- moon upside down turned markings and silvery gold eyes.
It was a year after Kurow`s birth when Team Ro got a new and youngest member of ANBU black ops Uchiha Itachi. Kakashi himself had meet the young Uchiha many a times when the boy would pet him in his wolf form, not that Itachi knew that the white wolf that was seen wandering the village was Kakashi himself. In a way Kakashi became somewhat of a mentor to Itachi, whom looked up to the older man. Despite hearing the rumors that his clan had spread about the Hatake after Obito`s death.
The young Uchiha and Team Ro had been introduced a few times to their captain`s wife and their young pup. And sometimes babysitting Kurow was used as a punishment on the team. Watching the young boy was a nightmare for any ANBU that was familiar with Kakashi`s tendencies dreaded this and many other of his training methods. That sometimes involved cleaning the canals running through Konoha in the middle of winter without any kind of jutsu, casing Kakashi in his wolf form whilst ending in embarrassing places (Tenzo once ended up in some unfortunate young naked girls bath, let`s just say that the kohai was making sure he didn`t end up in any bathtubs after that).
Itachi admired his captain as well as feared him. He did not wish to have the man`s fangs sunk into his flesh, those things are scary. The young Uchiha had once read that Oina wolves could be as big as the Inuzuka clan`s ninken, with female members obviously being smaller than males. And that difference was seen quite obviously between the Hatake couple whilst in their wolf forms and even then Itachi had the feeling that there was more to it than meets the eye.
It wasn`t until during one of their training exercises a red and blue Oina wolf by the name of Oki came that Itachi realized just how much stronger the man could really be. Oki is obviously older than Kakashi but the red and blue wolf only reached Kakashi`s shoulder and nothing more. For the Sage of Six Paths sake Oki looked so small compared to Kakashi whom is literally a giant.
Two years after joining ANBU Itachi became captain and he worked as a double agent for his clan and the Hokage. Whom gave him the order of wiping out his own clan, but not on his own though. He got the help in the form of Tobi. After killing his parent and tormenting Sasuke Itachi reported to the Hokage.
As the two finished their conversation Itachi said one more thing. ˝It may be wrong, but to ensure that the coup never comes to be I will also kill Yuki and her three children.˝
The Hokage turned sharply at that with a serious look in his eyes. ˝DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!˝
The Uchiha was startled at that. ˝I will do as I said Lord Hokage.˝
˝I`m warning you Itachi don`t go after Yuki. Kakashi will surely kill you if you do go after his mate and their pups.˝ The man said, he feared as to what Kakashi would do to the young teen should Itachi go after his mate. Yuki was highly respected by many whom knew of Kakashi`s true nature. And the Third could still remember Ammy`s protective nature for her son and if Kakashi was truly like his mother in that aspect there would be a lot of blood and it would definitively not be Kakashi`s.
˝I am sorry, but I will go after her.˝ The young teen said and before the Hokage could stop him, Itachi was already gone. He could only sigh and pray that Kakashi didn`t kill the teen.
Kakashi and his team were walking through the Uchiha compound looking for any more survivors other than Sasuke whom was currently being treated by Yugao. When he heard Yuki`s howl.
Kakashi had known his mate ever since they were both young and he knew when she needed his help the most. And this was one of those times. He quickly left the scene running on his four paws faster than ever before in his life and it didn`t take long to reach his house.
The first thing that assaulted his nose was the coppery smell of blood. Luckily none of it belonged to either of his two sons or daughter, yet he was still worried for Yuki. Kakashi didn`t waste time and burst into his home not caring if something was destroyed following the smell of blood to the pups room where he came upon a horrifying scene.
Itachi was in the standard ANBU outfit with his sword raised high. The twins Minato and Kushina were hiding behind Kurow whilst Yuki stood before the pups with blood dripping from many a wounds and Mangekyo Sharingan blazing, growling at her relative with a terrifying sound. She was not going down without a fight it would seem. Kakashi could see relief flash in her blue eyes when he entered.
Itachi had been ready to strike the she wolf and kill the pups afterwards when he saw relief flash in her eyes that turned back to normal. Itachi didn`t have time to react when he felt teeth sink into the flesh of his left arm. The teen hit the ground with his back and came face to face with a terrifying sight.
He had seen Kakashi turn into a wolf before, a silver furred one. Yet now his silvery fur was turning lighter until it was pure white with crimson marks, Divine Instrument with flame and silvery gold eyes staring into his own black ones. And for the first time in his life Itachi was truly afraid, for he realized that Kakashi wasn`t a human to begin with but the Child of the Sun Chibiterasu.
He`d heard many stories from when he was a child whenever Issun came to the village about the gods and their victories. And now he was face to face with one of them. After what must of been an eternity Kaka- no Chibiterasu let go of his arm. Itachi didn`t waste time and he ran as if heaven itself was trying to kill him, but considering the circumstances it may as well be.
Once he was a safe distance from Konoha Itachi took care of his wound whilst he thought over the Hokage`s words and he realized that the old man knew as to whom Kakashi was otherwise he wouldn`t of tried to stop him.
And in that moment the teen felt like an idiot for not heeding the Hokage`s word of warning and so he continued on his journey to join the Akatsuki.
In the days following the massacre Kakashi spent helping disposing of the bodies, staying at home helping Yuki with their litter and around the house in order for her to heal from the brutal beating she got from Itachi. And Kakashi swore that next time the boy came anywhere near his family that he would kill him. He also strengthened the many seals surrounding the Hatake clan compound, he wasn`t taking any chances for future safety. After that life mostly went on, until Kakashi turned twenty four or so when he was relieved of his ANBU duties and placed into the standard forces where he worked together with Yuki and was placed in charge of many of teams.
But let`s just stop right there for that is a story for another day.
