Chapter 28

To Breed or Not to Breed

As fond as he had grown of him, Jock was not always the easiest individual to deal with. He thought it would've been perfect irony if his family had been stationed in Vienna instead.

"Perhaps I would have a future as some sort of Sighound Freud or Carl meowng," thought Chulalongkorn ironically.

"Are you even still listening to me," grumbled Jock in annoyance. His attention snapped back to the moment, the half Siamese looked forward and took a deep breath.

"What I am hearing it is that you have come to realize you are married to the female you have been fantasizing about for the last couple of days, the one you have wanted to mate with ever since you laid eyes on her, and now that you realized you are married, it is, by your society's morals, your right to. Additionally, she explicitly wants you to go crazy with her," finished the panting, vaguely striped cat. "However, you are worried you aren't ready, on account of your old prejudices."

"So, what's your opinion?" asked the nervous, terrified terrier.

"I personally think you are biting your own tail," answered the Bangkok born feline.

"What do you mean?"

"Seriously," he wondered. After taking a breath to calm himself, he began, "even by the standards of purebreds, you are being overly stuffy."

"Wait, are purebred cats particularly stuffy," asked Jock.

"Hai, but that is beside the point," responded the neko. "The answer to your frustrations has been fed to you in a silver food bowl, and yet you are looking for excuses to not take a bite."

"Haven't you and your wife been together longer than me and Peg? But as you've told me, the two of you have never made love. What makes your situation so different?"

"Otousan and Okaasan are diplomats, which means we have to travel frequently. Therefore, Tama and I have to consider whether that is a good environment to raise kittens in," finished an increasingly frustrated Chulalongkorn.

"But I have my old prejudices to worry about," retorted Jock

"Didn't your okusan say that she thinks you're ready?"

"Yes, but I'm not sure I actually am," added the Highlander.

Chulalongkorn took a deep breath. "Jock, do you love her?"

"Yes, very much so," answered the sweater bearer.

"If you had puppies, would you love them?"

"Of course."

"Even if they were cross breeds?" Jock thought for a second. He had never really thought about how he felt about crossbreed puppies. As he kept thinking it over he kept coming back to a single conclusion: he could never hate any puppy even if they were cross breeds, especially if they were his, and even more if they were his and Peg's.

"So, if you fathered mixed breed puppies, would you love them?" asked Chulalongkorn, who was trying to make sure his friend was still present.

"Beyond the knife's edge of a shadow of a doubt," pledge the Scotty.

"Then it is settled," declared Chulalongkorn. "You are ready."

"And another individual agrees with me," interjected Peg. Jock looked up at his mate, unsure of how she got there.

"Pppeg, what are you doing here," stuttered the little terrier.

"Oh, I was, um, about to, well, go, you know, to relieve myself when I overheard you two," cautiously explained the blushing, bashful Pekingese.

"Who would've thought she could be embarrassed by something," wondered Jock to himself.

"Anywaaaay," began Peg, "your friend lady agrees with me that you're ready, and she personally asked me to tell you that she thinks you would be a great father," she explained.

"Really?" gasped Jock. Peg nodded.

"Now can I…"

"Of course," said Jock as if it went without saying. "Stop thinking about that! You are not some peeping Rex," mumbled Jock to himself. Unfortunately for him, he had no idea just how sensitive cat ears actually were.

"Now do you see what I'm saying," asked Chulalongkorn. "You're ready, and besides, after all the frustration I've seen you dealing with, you deserve to spend a little time with your head in the gutter."

"You know what? I am ready," stated Jock proudly. Chulalongkorn smiled. "And besides, even if puppies are not on the top my list at this very moment, I want to make her happy, and I want to enjoy, with her…"

"You can spare me the details," interrupted Chulalongkorn.

Jock was sniffing around trying to find Peg. "She will be so happy to hear", thought Jock. He eventually caught her scent, and his nose let him right to her.

"Oh," said Peg in surprise. She was not expecting him to barge in on her like this.

"I'm soooooo sorry love," said the red cheeked terrier. "Do you want me to leave you alone?" proposed jock in an unknowing insincerity.

"No, it's fine. Besides, given the way you're looking at me, I doubt you would even if I said yes," answered the fluffy bitch. Jock blushed, knowing she was right.

"Anyway about puppies yes," blurted out Jock. After taking a minute to absorb what her husband said, Peg smiled. Her face was beaming with joy.

"So when can we mate," asked Peg spontaneously.

"Tonight after dinner, there is a great spot in the house to watch the sunset, let's watch it together," elaborated Jock in less time than he probably should've taken.

"You old romantic you," responded Peg as she licked his cheek. "after that can we…"

"Of course, and as much and for as long as you would like," finished Jock.

"Anyway," began Peg seductively, "what were you thinking about a few seconds ago when you were staring at me so deeply," asked Peg.

"I have… just never really put any thought into how a female does that," answered Jock plainly.

"Oh is that right?" asked Peg teasingly. "Well then," she flirted. "Would you like to watch," she offered in a manner that was both exciting, and sincere. Jock was unable to resist. He nodded excitedly.

"You coyote, you," teased Peg. Jock blushed again but didn't say anything. A minute or two later Jock asked, "can I join you, in doing, you know, what you're doing right now?" asked Jock, as his head dropped through the gutter like rainwater. The excited fluff ball nodded vigorously. It may not have been the most "proper" way to bond, but it was bonding nonetheless, and they were going to have a wonderful night together. After all they were married, and it was their right.
