Chapter 26
Ash and Allister have been getting along well, since they are the only males in the family. The girls also join their conversation as they finally arrive at Laterally.
"So what is Bea's battling style like?" Ash asks, "I heard that she uses Fighting Types."
Allister says, "Sister Bea is calm and collected even when facing dire situations in battle. So you shouldn't underestimate her."
As they arrive at the gym, they find out that she isn't in the stadium. "Strange, where did she go?" Gloria asks.
"I think that she may be there." Opal says as they see a dessert shop. "A dessert shop?" Marnie asks.
"The harsh training might consummate her energy, so she will eat some sweets for replenishing her energy." Delia says.
"Then let's go there and see." Dawn says as they get inside.
While the girls are sitting at one table, Ash, Allister sit with Opal and Delia in the other, but they are quickly noticed by Bea, who has just finished eating her cake.
"Mom? Grandaunt? Allister? What are you doing here?" Bea is surprised.
"Hello Bea. I think you haven't met your brother Ash Ketchum, right?" Delia says as Ash introduces himself.
"Oh, so you are my brother, if Allister is here, does that mean that you beat his gym?" Bea asks.
"He did. And he also helps me with my fear of taking off the mask." Allister says.
"You're right, you're not wearing masks." Bea says with surprise. "Interesting. I think I am looking forward to battling you."
Ash says, "Same, but first, we have to eat some desserts."
Bea nods as she sits besides them, but she isn't going to order since she has already eaten. After their tea break, they go to the gym as they see a man standing in front of them as the staff, once Bea goes into the stadium, he says, "You're a gym challenger, right? Are you going to apply to challenge this Gym?"
Gloria says, "I am."
"Good, here is the uniform." As the man gives Gloria the uniform, she goes to dress it, this time it looks like Bea's without the shirt tying like a bow, and it was like the ghost one on the bottom, with pants under the shorts.
"Go, Number 890." Then the staff takes Gloria to the mission field, there, they see the place like tracks and a cart that looks like a Pokemon in front of him. The cart also has a gun attached to it.
"This looks kinda cool..." Gloria says in amazement.
Dan says, "Allow me to explain the Gym mission for Stow-on-Side's Gym. To complete the mission, you have to ride in one of those cups and make your way to the goal, also, the cart won't stop and there is a loop unless you destroy 5 balloons each round. Let me tell you a bit more of operation. On the gun you have the buttons known as A and B, you can press A to shoot the gun, and then B is to make the car slower."
"I think I got it." Gloria says.
"Now, have a good time hearing the screams as you try to reach the goal. Then on your scream, good luck."
Gloria sits on the cup and it starts to move, then it suddenly goes up and then it goes down swiftly. As the others are watching, Serena says, "I really don't like Roller Coasters. Since they are thrilling but scary."
"I know." Ash says. "But it is fun as well."
As Gloria sees a balloon, she presses B to make the cup go slower. "Now let's see how it works..." She presses the A button and then the punching glove attached to the spring appears and it punches the balloon, making it pop. "So that is how it works..."
After beating the balloons, Gloria manages to get to the finish line. But she almost gets a heart attack since it is too thrilling for her. "Goal! Gym Mission Cleared!"
As Gloria walks towards the stadium, Bea also does the same. Once they are facing each other, Bea does the karate bow and says, "Welcome, Gym Challenger. I'm Bea."
"I am Gloria, we already met." Gloria does the same.
Once they are back, she asks, "Do you have an unshakable spirit that won't be moved, no matter how you are attacked? I think I'll just test that out, shall I?"
"Sure." Gloria says.
Bea sends out her first Pokemon, a Hawlucha. Gloria says, "Go, Unfezant!"
Once the Pokemon are all out, Bea says, "Use Flying Press."
"Dodge it!" Gloria yells as Unfezant dodges the upcoming attack, causing the hawk Pokemon to fall down to the floor. "Use Air Slash!"
"Kick the ground and then glides up, then use Swords Dance." Bea says.
Hawlucha then dodges the move using the ground, and then it powers up his attack.
"Use Aerial Ace!" Gloria yells. "Poison Jab!" Bea says calmly. And Hawlucha manages to poison Unfezant. Unfezant is now on the ground poisoned.
"High Jump Kick." Bea says as the Pokemon tries to finish it off. "Roll on the ground to dodge it!"
Bea is surprised that the attack misses and Hawlucha is injured. But she doesn't show it on the outside. Dawn says, "That worked..."
"Yeah." Ash says, and then they see Hawlucha is unable to battle. Bea recalls her Pokemon and says, "Hitmontop, I need your assistance."
As the second Pokemon appears, Hitmontop uses Triple Kick to finish off the poisoned Unfezant. Gloria recalls her Pokemon and says, "Then I use Orbeetle."
As the second Pokemon appears, Alice says, "A Psychic Type should do the work.
"Yeah." Lillie says.
But as Orbeetle uses Psycho Cut, Bea says, "Counter." Gloria widens her eyes as the attack hits Orbeetle double, and with the Revenge, it defeats Orbeetle.
"No way...it is so powerful..." Gloria gasps.
Bea says, "I can beat you, because I am focused, unlike you, your heart is swaying."
"We should see." Gloria says as she sends out Musharna. Musharna uses Hypnosis to make Hitmontop sleep, and then it uses Dream Eater to finish it off.
"How is it?" Gloria asks.
"Nice try, but how about this, Falinks!" As the Pokemon appears, it spreads into six.
"What was that?" Serena gasps as she has never seen this Pokemon before.
"That is Falinks." Rotom says. "It is made of six Pokemon, but they listen to the first one when they are in action."
"No Retreat." Bea says as the Pokemon suddenly glows, Delia says, "No retreat raises all the stats, but the only problem is that it can't escape."
"I see..." Ash says.
Falinks uses Mega Horn, much to Gloria's surprise, it manages to give a lot of damage to the Musharna. When it tries to use Hypnosis again, it hits one of the body, the five of them use Close Combat, causing it to groan in pain.
"That's it." Gloria thinks, "I should attack the leader..."
She calls Musharna to use Psychic on the leader, causing it to fainted, and the other 4 are now in panic as the leader is gone, so Gloria uses Dazzling Gleam to finish them off.
"Brilliant, I can see your determination in the battle, but now here is my last Pokemon. Sirfetch'd."
As the Pokemon appears, Dawn asks, "Farfetch'd has an evolution?"
"I have never heard of it." Alice says.
Sirfetch'd uses Brutal Swing to end Musharna off, so Gloria sends out Alcremie. Bea uses some moves of karate and says, "Hurah! If that's how you want to play, then your skill is worthy of my Dynamaxing!"
As she makes Sirfetch'd grows bigger, Gloria says, "Then I use Gigantamax this time."
Alcremie becomes a big cake, much to everyone's surprise. Opal says, "She sure is determined."
"I agree. Grandaunt." Allister says.
"Max Knuckle!" Bea says as the Pokemon shoots out a giant punch, it lands on the Pokemon and raises the attack.
"Use Max Mindstorm!" Gloria yells as the Pokemon uses the super effective move, causing the field to become the Psychic Terrain.
After a series of attacks, Sirfetch'd is the first one who gets back to normal. "We can't let it attack in Gigantamax form, use Meteor Assault!"
Gloria says, "G-Max Finale!" The cake explodes and then Sirfetch'd is caught in the wave, causing the Pokemon to faint.
Bea blinks in surprise and then she says, "I felt the fighting spirit of your Pokémon as you led them in battle."
She walks towards Gloria and says, "Thank you for the battle. Phew... Facing you gave me all the explanation I needed. Battling against you and your team... I hadn't expected it, but it made my heart dance. It's good to be unshakable in the face of battle. But it's good to be moved by battle, as well. Thank you again. Take the Fighting Badge."
After taking the badge, Gloria leaves and then it is Marnie's turn. Marnie is a little struggling thanks to the type advantage, but she still manages to pull it off. Now it is Ash's turn, as Ash is wearing like Gloria, and he also walks to the field.
"Welcome...brother." The siblings bow at each other.
Bea says, "I have been waiting for this in a long time, to be able to face you in the real battle."
"Now I am here, so please don't hold back. I will also let you show what I have achieved." Ash says.
Bea nods as she sends out Bewear. Ash says, "Bewear, huh? Then I will fight Fighting with fighting. Hawlucha!"
As the Pokemon appears, it starts to show off, causing the crowd to laugh a little. But Bea remained cool as she calls for the Superpower, but Hawlucha dodges and then it uses X Scissor, which doesn't deal much damage.
"Use Take Down." Bea says as the Pokemon charges at Hawlucha, giving it much damage.
"Flying Press, remember our strategy." Bea is confused as she asks Bewear to dodge, but she gasps as she sees how Hawlucha spins at the same time, making it faster and then lands the super effective hit, causing it to faint.
"I never knew it can speed up..." Bea says. "Return...Pangoro." As she sends out the second Pokemon, it uses Bullet Punch on Hawlucha, and then finishes it with Body Slam.
Ash sends out Spritzee next, as it uses Trick Room. And then it keeps using the speed to attack Pangoro, causing it to faint by multiple Gyro Balls and Moonblast.
"Hey, that was my Mom's special move..." Alice says.
"You right..." Serena gasps. "He learned it..."
"Trick Room works for slower opponents...but it still has time for it to disappear, Grapploct." As the Pokemon appears, Perrserker says, "It doesn't look cool..."
"You're right." Rotom says.
Grapploct uses Octolock to stop Spritzee from moving, and then it uses Liquidation to defeat it. Ash recalls Spritzee and then he sends out Sawk, since he wants to fight fighting with fighting. Grapploct uses Taunt, and Sawk falls for it, it uses Close Combat, but Grapploct uses Octolock to stop him, and it uses Submission to make it fall to the ground.
"Sawk, calm down and listen to me, use Low Sweep." Sawk nods as he kicks the Pokemon, causing its speed to fall. "Octozooka." As the Pokemon shoots out the attack, Sawk also shoots out Focus Blast, causing both sides to faint.
"I should have expect that." Bea says with a little smile, causing the crowd to gasp, but the smile turns into a determined expression. "It's time to dig in our heels! I'm not giving up, so neither should you!"
"I agree." Ash says as they grab their final Pokemon.
"Machamp!" As Bea sends out her final Pokemon, Ash says, "Corvisquire!"
Once both Pokemon are on the field, Bea says, "Argh! Fine then, let's just destroy everything! Your skill is worthy of respect—and Gigantamaxing!"
Machamp grows really big and its arms are like it is covered with magma. Ash says, "Cool Gigantamax, but Corvisquire is still going to win."
Ash also makes Corvisquire bigger, then they both roar loudly. Serena says, "That the Gigantamax?"
"Both you and Bea...you use the trading Pokemon as your Gigantamax?" Lillie asks Allister.
"Well, it is true that they are from trading...but they are really cool." Allister says.
"G-Max Chi Strike! I'll use karate along with my Pokémon's move!" Bea yells.
"Max Guard, Quick!" Ash yells.
Four arms grabs a hold of the Pokemon as it attacks, but Corvisquire lowers its damage after the Max Guard.
"Now use Max Strike!" Bea says, and it makes a critical hit, much to Ash's surprise.
"So the G-Max Chi Strike's effect is to make critical hit, huh? Then Max Airstream! Finish it off!"
Bea tries to use Max Guard, but she fails as the winds come super quick and defeats the Machamp.
Bea gasps at first, but then it turns to a sigh and a sad smile. "Well done, you really are speedy and strong."
Ash says, "You're smiling... That is really surprising."
Bea sighs, "Who knows, maybe it is thanks to you, brother. I know I will lose to you, but I don't want to give up, before I meet Mother, I was alone, I thought smiling was a way to show your weakness to others, but now I understand..."
She gives Ash the Fighting Badge, Ash gets the badge and thanks her. "I hope that you'll meet many more Trainers and have many more matches in the future. And I hope that every one of those encounters will nourish your spirit."
"Sure." Ash says as they go outside.
Once they are outside after having the badges, Dawn says, "Ash, that was a good battle."
"Indeed. You are so cool." Gloria says. "Bea as well."
"Thanks." Ash says as they see a Yamper rushing towards Pikachu, nuzzling him.
"Looks like my Yamper really likes your Pikachu, huh?" Sonia says. "Anyways, we've run into each other at a good time."
"Sonia? What are you doing here?" Marnie asks.
"You know the mural that is located between the Stow-on-Side and Literally? It's said to tell the story of the hero of Galar as well. Though what's there today is actually a replica of the ancient art that used to be here..."
"Is it true?" Alice asks in surprise.
"You guys tend to have surprisingly sharp insight, so I was wondering what you might think when you see the ruins." Sonia says.
"Well, we should go check it out." Delia says, "Bea, Allister, are you coming as well?"
Bea says, "Of course, Mother." Allister says, "I will as well." And then they head towards the Mural.
I have changed the Gym Mission in the Fighting Type Gym since the pinball spinning cup is in the Ghost Type. I hope you like it. And now they have the seventh badge, and what will happen at the mural? Find out in the next chapter.
