Santa is real?
Nico had never believed in Santa. Or whatever you wanted to call him. Santa Claus, Father Christmas, fat Zeus who's slightly less horny.
Maybe it was because he couldn't remember anything of this festival from his childhood and by the time he got to Westover Hall they banned anything of the sort. This was his first proper Christmas now he came to think of it. It wasn't really a religious thing at camp. They did all worship the Greek gods so all this Christianity stuff wasn't necessary. But they enjoyed this kind of thing, so Nico was told.
He stood up from his coffin shaped bed. He needed to urgently get those changed actually. Whoever thought it was a good idea really should have thought it through better. Nico stepped out of his cabin into the mild air and walked over to campfire which was just beginning.
About fifteen or so demigods, sat around the fire, toasting marshmallows and laughing at jokes. Said jokes seemed to be coming from his boyfriend, which meant they were probably awful.
Nico sat down next to Will, leaning his head on his shoulder.
"Hey Neeks," Will said, smiling at him in a carefree way.
"Hey," replied Nico, choosing to ignore the nickname that Will had taken to calling him. Normally that kind of thing would have annoyed him but right now, it just made his smile a little bit wider.
"Want a marshmallow?" he asked handing a bag of them to him.
Nico nodded, grabbing a pink one and then a stick from Kayla beside him. He pushed it on and then expertly heated it up whilst talking to the other campers around him. Since the war with Gaea and then dating Will most of the demigods had begun to treat him like a friend. No one was really scared of him anymore and he finally felt like he had a home.
After a few hours, though it seemed like only a few minutes, Chiron walked over to the group, telling them it was time to go to bed. Begrudgingly everyone got up until it was just Nico and Will; staring at the embers of the once raging fire.
Hand in hand, the boys started walking towards the cabins, in idle chatter. The stars glistened above them and as they stopped to take the beautiful view in, Nico felt a whoosh of air brush right past him.
"Will," Nico whispered, slowly drawing his sword, "did you feel that?"
Now standing back to back, Will responded in a way that confused Nico. "Oh my gods he's real."
With a small frown on his face, Nico turned around slightly to see his boyfriends facial expression, "Who's real?"
"Santa Claus," shocked, Will's mouth was still wide open.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean Santa Claus. The Santa Claus is real."
"And so is the bloody Easter bunny," commented Nico sarcastically, holding his sword protectively in front of him.
"If you don't believe me then let's go find him!" announced Will, taking Nico's hand back in his.
Sighing to himself, Nico sheathed his sword and followed his significant other reluctantly. They arrived at the Big House which like the rest of the camp, was deadly quiet. Nico was just glad the harpies hadn't decided to eat them yet, for being out so late.
But of course Nico had to go and jinx it. He pulled Will up to the steps of the Big House where they hid behind a big flower pot one of the Demeter kids had insisted needed to be there, waiting for the evil or not-always-evil-but-these-ones-wanted-to-kill-them harpies to pass.
"Um… Nico."
"Yeah."
"I don't think those were the cleaning harpies," Will stood up, much to Nico's protests, and made his way towards where the creatures had seemingly just landed. Now they were getting closer, he had to admit they didn't look particularly like what normal harpies did. In fact, they didn't seem to have wings at all.
"Is that- are they- reindeer?" Nico stared at the, what appeared to be, reindeer that were looking wonderingly at them.
"Oh my gods," Will squealed excitedly, running up to the reindeer and petting each of them for a few seconds.
Nico grinned slightly at Will's cuteness and then nearly jumped five feet in the air when he realised someone was standing next to him and it wasn't his annoying boyfriend.
"Don't do that," panted Nico regaining his breath from the shock he just had.
"I'm awfully sorry my dear boy," the man had a voice that was thick with amusement and seemed to be almost caring and kind, if that was possible of a voice. Nico turned to face him, taking a careful step back; his hand loosely on his swords hilt. The man was wearing a red coat and red trousers, both with a trim of white fur. His boots were a muddy brown and the belt around his waist was a shining jet black that Nico couldn't help but admire. The final touch was his signature hat – a red thing with white wrapped around his head and a white pom-pom dangling down on his shoulder. So in simple terms, Nico was standing next to Santa.
"It's nice to see you two boys," Santa smiled warmly at them both as Will stood back at Nico's side.
"Ahh I actually have something for you!"
Santa walked over to his sleigh, which Nico seemed to have missed, and grabbed two presents both around the size of a football. Although Nico sincerely hoped it wasn't a football as he was perhaps the worst at camp with that sport.
"Don't worry young child, it isn't a football," winked Santa, as he handed them both a parcel, "I believe my job here is done. Perhaps I shall see you demigods next year. As always be good!"
Santa hoped into his sleigh and pulling the reigns, he and his reindeers disappeared in a few seconds, leaving Will and Nico alone once more.
"Well…" said Nico, glancing cautiously at the box in his hands.
"Oh my gods I just saw Santa, oh my gods, oh my gods-"
Nico left to go back to his cabin, Will following, continuing to murmur about having just seen 'the Santa Claus'. Nico couldn't help but find it cute, and smiled to himself.
When they got to his cabin, Nico opened the door for Will, and lead him to a made bed that was closest. He sat down next to him, and gave him a concerned look.
"Will, are you okay?"
"I'm- I'm fine," smiled Will in a slightly maniacal way. Nico sighed and looked again at the present in his hands.
"Do you think we should…" he trailed off hoping Will would catch his train of thought.
"Yes, 100%, definitely!"
In a matter of seconds, Will had ripped the wrapping paper off the box and was lifting the lid. What he saw inside, made the biggest of smiles appear on his lips.
"It's a new med kit, enchanted to be able to hold as much as I need!" Will hugged the small bag and just his boyfriends joy made Nico happy.
He now looked at his present. He didn't know what Santa could have possibly got him, but he saw no harm in opening it. Contrary to Will, Nico took the wrapping paper off carefully and then slowly lifted the lid. What he found inside nearly made him begin to cry.
"It's an aviator jacket, like the one I used to have which got ruined," Nico choked back tears, a small smile gracing his lips.
He leaned over to Will and gave him a massive hug, which the other boy happily returned.
"I love you," said Will.
"I love you too."
A/N - I'm back lmao! I didn't forget about this account, I've just been really busy of late but I thought now would be the perfect time to churn out some fan fiction. I have a few other new things written which i may release at some point, but you'll have to be patient for that.
I have a feeling this is pretty ooc for Nico but what could I do, it's Christmas time and Solangelo is just Solangelo.
I saw how many people had been reading this recently (or I feel it was loads, I don't know) and it made me really happy so thanks guys :) For a thanks to all you lovely people I thought I'd try and come up with something for this year. It's no story a day but it's pretty hefty for me. I hope you all enjoyed.
Nico kalblinger - thank you so much for your reviews, it was definitely one of the main reasons I decided to add another chapter for this year. That's really cool your name is actually Nico and I'm a hades kid too ahah. Also I bet you'll find your Will Solace one day, and for that I wish you luck :)
Have a merry whatever it may be you celebrate and a very joyous new year.
