Hi guys,

Here is another chapter of Shattered Past. Again its not large but it's still a cool chapter, I think. Oh this chapter does get a little, well... upsetting at the beginning paragraph.

She had to run.

She could hear heavy footsteps coming from behind her, shaking the earth underneath with each step. But she couldn't stop no matter what. She had to get her egg to safety. When she returned to her den after a night of scavenging for food to her utter horror she found a Beartic had gotten in and was raiding her eggs, all except the one she managed to snatch away.

Now she was running not only for her own life but for her egg's as well. She stumbled almost falling over but quickly regained her balance as a bellowing roar echoed from behind her and the snapping of trees started to become louder. Skidding under a log on the frozen snow, she came to a stop breathing heavily and exhausted. Looking at the egg in her arms she closed her eyes knowing what she had to do.

Using her sharp talons she swiftly created a hidden area and carefully hid her egg in it with tears streaming down her face. She gave it one final kiss and brushed her claw across it gently, she had to direct the Beartic away from her egg, even if meant the cost of her life.

With one final look, a silent and last goodbye to her egg, she turned around and started running just as the Beartic erupted from the trees snarling at her with his eyes full of rage, no one steals his meal. No one. She crouched low and hissed back taunting him to follow her. He roared in anger as he charged forward at her. She easily dodged by leaping upwards causing him to crash into a tree. Shaking it off, he faced her as she landed gracefully on ground feeling rage consume him. She turned and ran in the opposite direction with the angry Beartic chasing not far behind her, leaving her egg behind for the last time.

Serena, Professor Kukui, Professor Burner and Meowth were trudging through the icy snow as their feet sunk deep into it with each step. It seemed like a few hours since they left the cave yet exhaustion loomed in their minds.

Meowth didn't make any efforts to keep his thoughts to himself about this, "When are we going to find our way out of this dumb forest?! My feet have gone numb from the cold!" Professor Kukui sighed as an idea came to his head, he hated to do this but if it would stop the normal type Pokemon's complaining, "Well if your feet are getting cold just jump on one of our shoulders."

The scratch Pokemon blinked a few times in surprise sharing up at the man, "Ya not pulling my leg are ya?" Professor Kukui deadpanned with a raised eyebrow, "I suggested it why would I be joking?" Meowth stared at him sceptically for a few seconds before hesitantly climbing up on Kukui' s shoulder. He sat there tense for a few seconds before he smirked, "Now I see why Pikachu likes riding on the twerp's shoulder. It's comfy."

Well at least someone's comfortable.

Serena chuckled softly, Meowth seemed certainty different towards them. At first, she was cautious around him but is slowly starting to trust him. Lysandre, however, she still didn't trust him one inch. That is why she is so worried about Ash. What if Lysandre was working for Giovanni? Waiting to betray them when he gets the chance?

'If he hasn't already,' darkly whispered a voice from the back of her mind. The honey-blonde was so deep in thought that she didn't look where she was going. Her foot slipped and she suddenly found herself sliding down a tall steep hill of snow before she landed roughly on her rump at the bottom.

"Serena! Are you okay?" Professor Burnet's voice called far above from her head. Looking up, Serena replied, "Yeah I am fine. I will try to climb back up." However, as the honey-blonde tried to accomplish this she kept sliding back down and the top was too far out of her reach.

"I can't get back up! It's too steep! I will have to find another way back," yelled Serena. This time Meowth replied, "Okay twerpette, do you think you can find another way out?" However, before she could answer something green caught her eye a few feet away from her buried in the snow near a fallen log. Blinking in confusion she crouched low sweeping the snow away with a few movements of her hand and what she found took her completely by surprise.

It was a Pokemon egg.

"Serena, what's going on down there?" That was Kukui's voice probably worried why she didn't answer them. Gently scooping the egg up in her arms the coordinator stood up while replying to her friends, "I found an egg buried in the snow."

"An egg?!"

Serena nodded, "Yes but it's cold what should I do?" It was silent for a few seconds before Kukui's voice replied, "Stay where you are and keep the egg as warm as possible until we found a safer way down to you, alright with Serena?"

"Okay will do," confirmed Serena, cradling the egg closer to her body, "Bye Serena. Please be careful until we arrive down there," cautioned Burnet. Smiling Serena sat on the soft snow while making herself comfortable, "Don't worry. I will be fine. I promise."

"Okay bye until we return," after that it began silently above Serena and she assumed they already left. Sighing, the honey-blonde pulled the egg closer while whispering softly to it, "Don't worry I promise will protect you no matter what happens. Just hang in their little guy. I promise."

Ash came to a halt with a frown on his face with his lips pressed together in a thin line as he came to a cliff looking over a large forest with Tasha and Gary standing not far behind him, okay he may have gotten them slightly lost.

But that was an idea popped up. Walking slightly forward Ash cupped his hands in front of his mouth before shouting, "MEW ARE YOU THERE!?" Gary stared at disbelief at the raven-haired trainer while his shoulders dropped, "Wait. That was your idea? Shouting into the wind!?"

Ash shrugged, "Pretty much since I don't know where we are." Gary's eyes widened as his jaw dropped, "So we are lost!?" The boy flinched chuckling nervously, "Whoops?" Tasha sighed and rolled her eyes, "Great you ask for a vacation but instead you get lost in the forest and wrapped up in a world-saving adventure. What disaster is going to happen next?"

"Beep. Om. Om. Beep. Om. Beep. Beep. Om. Beep."

"What the heck is that sound?" asked Gary looking around confused while Ash scowled trying to think. He heard that sound before somewhere. It was so familiar. He just couldn't put his finger on it. Suddenly the ground beneath them resonated under their feet as the breaking of trees came from behind them.

Whipping around the trio's eyes widened as a large golem-like Pokemon appeared from out of the trees with an orange pattern on its face that resembled a capital letter the "H" with long arms and jutting shoulders with club-like hands as a line of rocky spines ran down its back.

"What is that?" asked Tasha bringing out her Pokedex. While Ash froze, gulping nervously and his hand moving to his Pokeball on his belt. Now he knew why that sound was so familiar! This was Re-

"Regirock, the Rock Peak Pokémon. It was believed that it was away by people long ago. If this Pokemon's body is damaged in battle, it is said to seek out suitable rocks on its own to repair itself."

"Watch out!" Gary tackled the girl just in time as the rock type Pokemon fired a Hyperbeam towards her, barely avoiding from getting hit from the devastating attack. "Okay Ashy-boy, why is that thing attacking us?!"

"They protect the Tree of Beginning from intruders! We need to get away now!" frantically replied Ash while expanding two Pokeballs in his hand. If he could just distract Regirock it would spare them a few seconds to get away from the Pokemon, "Greninja and Torracat I choose you!" The Ninja and Fire Cat Pokemon landed gracefully on the ground as they materialized from their Pokeballs, glaring at the legendary Pokemon.

"Use Water Shuriken and Flamethrower to distract it!" commanded Ash, watching as the both Pokemon lept up in the air, Greninja slapping its webbed hands on its legs and throwing the attack at its target while Torracat grunted before a stream of fire shot forward out of its jaws. Regirock's didn't even flinch as the attacks made contact with each other and smoke clouded in front of its face, obscuring its vision.

"Greninja and Torracat great job, return!" The two Pokemon were consumed in red light before they disappeared back into their Pokeballs before his gaze moved to his downed friends, "Now is our chance let's go!" Gary nodded in agreement while helping Tasha up, "Right behind you Ashy-boy."

However, as the trio tried to leave Regirock had formed another Hyperbeam with its club-like hands and before they could move to dodge, it fired sending the attack barreling forwards towards them. Not thinking and his legs seemingly moving by their own, Ash suddenly found himself standing in front of Gary and Tasha with his arms spread out wide as the attack was a few inches away from making contact.

Suddenly a figure jumped up high above the treetops throwing a Pokeball forward, "Solrock use protect!"

It all happened in a blinding flash before a massive explosion occurred shielding the results of what happened.

Before you suggest that it is Lysandre, it's not. Who do you think that figure was and what egg do you think I gave Serena?
