Kingdom Hearts: The Winter War
A/N: Well, like all things, the final battle reaches its conclusion. The thirty first chapter has been posted and please read this chapter as it will focus on the climax and the aftermath to follow. Sadly, I don't own Kingdom Hearts and Bleach…or this fantastic song that will be played in this chapter.
(Cue 3rd Opening)
Ep. 31: "Dawn of a Fierce Battle! Daybreak at Karakura Town!"
In Hueco Mundo
Back in Hueco Mundo, everyone had watched the conclusion of the battle on the ice screen. They were unable to make out most of what was said, due to the immense burst of power all three combatants displayed. That however, left them in awe as they saw the power they displayed, which leveled the entire mountain range that surrounded the Rukon District.
"Did you guys see that?" Renji muttered.
"Amazing." Rukia breathed.
"Ichigo…did all that?" Chad asked with wide eyes.
"Apparently." Uryū replied, not having much to say. In fact, many of spectators couldn't react immediately at what they had witnessed. Many of them had tried to take down Aizen twice, the day he defected to from the Soul Society and during their final battle. And every time, he always got the better of them. Now…they finally witnessed Aizen at the end of his ropes, outmatched by two boys of human origins.
"They…actually won." Hitsugaya stammered.
"It seems they did." Suì-Fēng answered with wide eyes.
"We could barely stand our ground against Aizen before all this." Lisa said.
"Guess it just shows how powerful kids these days are becoming." Kyōraku chuckled while also feeling proud of their victory.
Many of Sora's Arrancar friends also watched the scene with various reactions; Starrk and Nel smiled proudly, Lilynette let out tears of joy, Halibel's Fracciónes hugged each in delight (immediately pulling away when they saw what they were doing), Nel's Fracciónes also danced in joy while Gantenbainne and Grimmjow smirked at the fallen Aizen. Ulquiorra remained stoic but was surprised to see his former leader having been bested by these two humans. He always believed Aizen's powers were equal to none, but now he had witnessed these humans do what was said to be impossible. He could not help but wonder what was it that drove their powers?
Yamamoto, while looking at the screen, also found himself to be amazed with what he saw. No…that word would be too much of an understatement. There were no words to describe his gratitude at Ichigo Kurosaki and Sora for their valiant efforts in defeating the man who gave the Soul Society so much trouble over the years. However, he also knew that it was too so to determine that battles outcome despite the last attack Ichigo pulled off.
"As grand as this battle ended, I'm afraid it is still too soon for celebration." The Head-Captain said, getting their attention. "For now, we must be patient and remain vigilant. We never know what can happen."
As everyone agreed with his words, Orihime looked around, noticing something was off. She gasped as she realized what it was. "Wait…Mr. Urahara is gone."
Sure enough, Urahara disappeared from where he stood. Everyone looked around for the shopkeeper but saw that he was out of sight.
Yoruichi sighed exasperatedly. "That idiot! Running off without even telling us!"
"You should've surrounded with your barrier Hachigen!" Suì-Fēng vehemently said, with Hachi sighing in shame.
"But where could he have gone?" Mickey asked.
"Do you think he could have returned to Karakura Town?" Naminé asked.
"That could be the case." Lea assumed.
"Everyone!" they turned to Isa who was still fixated on the screen. When they looked at it, they all gasped as they saw the black wave clearing away.
In the Soul Society
Back in Karakura Town, Sora's and Ichigo's friends looked in awe and disbelief as the black wave reached all the way to the sky. They didn't know what to make of it, if it came from their friends or from Aizen. If so, then who won this battle?
"What…the hell just happened?" Keigo asked.
"Was it some kind of explosion?" Mizuiro asked as well.
Riku shook his head as he noticed something. "No. Whoever did it, I couldn't sense their energy. I'm guessing it was Ichigo."
Tatsuki looked at Riku in disbelief. "Ichigo did this?"
Aqua nodded, having realized it as well. "It makes sense. That attack was similar to that Getsuga Tenshō he always uses."
Goofy nodded as he realized what that meant. "Then that means Ichigo and Sora beat Aizen!"
Don Kanonji grinned as well. "Not too shabby for my apprentices. Of course I was the one who soften him up."
"Yeah right!" "When were they your apprentices!" Tatsuki and Riku shouted at the same time while the others laughed. Kairi calmed down and looked back at the black wave, which began to subside. She was still concerned if her two friends were still safe after all this.
"Sora, Ichigo, do you think they're alright?" She asked.
"It's still too soon to tell. But it's obvious they're going on a major rampage." A voice said. Everyone turned to see Kisuke Urahara walking towards them, much to their surprise.
"Hey, you're that hat-and-clog wearing guy we met before!" Keigo exclaimed. Urahara looked at them with his usual smile. "Ah, Ichigo's friends, right? It looks like you've kept yourselves alive, I'm glad."
"You know this guy?" Chizuru asked, not having met him before. Zennosuke however, was also surprised to see him here. "You're…Kisuke Urahara."
"And you're the Soul Reaper assigned to Karakura Town." Urahara said. "Sorry about putting you to sleep. I didn't have enough time to fill you in on the current situation."
Terra stepped forward, facing Urahara. "Not to sound ungrateful, but why are you here? I know you wouldn't be here without a reason."
Urahara chuckled. "I figured you wouldn't beat around the bush." He said before his expression turned serious. "You guys should go over there. The last attack should be nearing its end."
The Keyblade Wielders' eyes snapped wide at what he said. "You…want us to go to where Sora and Ichigo are?" Roxas asked.
"But…didn't they defeat Aizen?" Kairi asked. Urahara shook his head. "That attack damaged Aizen severely, but the Hōgyoku is still keeping him alive." Urahara revealed. "However, he was weakened greatly by Ichigo's Final Getsuga Tenshō so all you need to go over there and deliver the final blow."
Aqua understood what he meant but looked at the Karakura group and the unconscious Donald, Isshin, and Yen Sid. "But…what about…"
"Don't worry." Urahara interrupted. "I'll look after them. But you need to go now."
Riku nodded. "He's right. We have no time to waste!" The others nodded as Goofy looked over at Urahara. "I'm gonna stay and back up Mr. Urahara with protecting the others."
"We understand." Kairi agreed. With nothing else left, the Keyblade Wielders took off to where their friends were battling Aizen.
"Formchange!" Riku, Kairi, Aqua, and Terra shouted as they transformed. Roxas called forth his two Keyblades as they drew closer to the battlefield.
A black wall was formed, stretching from where Ichigo stood, all of the way into the edges of the mountains, cutting Aizen in half. When the attack struck, Aizen's body started to disintegrate as the black wall was lifted into the sky and disappeared. When Mugetsu subsided, Ichigo landed on the ground as the bandages around his body cracked open and broke into piece. A crash was heard a few feet away from his position, and Ichigo saw Aizen lying on the ground with his long brown and his clothes returning to normal. Unfortunately, a white substance suddenly sprouted and began stitching Aizen's back, surprising Ichigo.
"He's still able to regenerate?" He exclaimed. Wasting no time, Ichigo used Flash Step to appear a few feet in front of Aizen and watched as Aizen slowly got on all fours, glaring at Ichigo. Ichigo return the glare and was about to attack when suddenly, his long hair returned to his usual orange hair. Ichigo eyes widen as his body suddenly felt heavy and brought him to his knees.
"Damn!" He thought as he gripped the dirt with his hand. "My soul reaper powers…are disappearing." Ichigo looked up and saw Aizen standing over him. One of Aizen's eyes is completely white while the other was purple with a white orb. He now has pale skin and a fraction of hollowed teeth is on the right of his lips.
"Ichigo Kurosaki…you've lost this battle. Observe…" Aizen said as he showed his blade to Ichigo, revealing tiny fragments of Aizen's Zanpakutō braking off the blade and flew away. "My Zanpakutō is fading away. I assume that you know what that means." A smirk appeared on Aizen's face. "The Hōgyoku has determined…that I would no longer have any need for a Zanpakutō! Like you, I have become one with the Zanpakutō and its power! However, you no longer have that power! Now watch as I reach a level far beyond yours! It's all over, Ichigo Kurosaki!"
"Then we'll just have to go…further beyond!" a familiar voice shouted. Ichigo looked at where the voice came and saw Sora charging towards Aizen with his multi-colored sword reared back. "Ultimate Finisher: Ultima Flash!"
Summoning dozens of swords, Sora jump into the air and create a flurry of blades around him, dealing rapid damage on Aizen's body. The evolved Soul Reaper screamed in pain as Sora ended his technique with sending a last circle of swords out around him in a great radius, hitting Aizen with this energy attack, smashing him through a nearby boulder.
"Sora." Ichigo said, surprised to see the Keyblade Wielder. Sora panted heavily as he gave Ichigo a smile before his clothes reverted back to its regular appearance. "Damn it! My Ultimate Form's all used up."
"So you finally decide to show up, Sora." Aizen said, returning to his feet. He coughed out some blood and his body showed the effect of Sora's attack. "But it seems like Ichigo, your powers have also begun to fade. You've lost your only chance at defeating me! Now, prepare to die!"
Aizen had no time to react as he saw Sora appear in front of him and dealt a strong right hook on his face. Ichigo gasped as he saw Aizen stagger back from the blow. "Sora…"
"Get him!" Sora roared. "C'mon Ichigo!"
Ichigo looked confused before he regained his composure. Without hesitating, he mustered what little power he had left to summon his Hollow Mask.
"RRRRRAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!" Ichigo roared as his Hollow Mask changed once more, now resembling the one from when his Inner Hollow took over. Aizen regained his balance and knocked Sora back with a single punch. However, to his surprise, a saw the remaining Keyblade Wielders charging at him with fierce expression.
"This may be our final attack!" Aqua said. "Make it count!"
"We have to hit Aizen with everything we've got!" Riku said.
Aizen growled as he looked at them with deep anger. "If you're so eager to die, I'll be more than happy to hurry you along!" He swung his Zanpakutō and fired a Kidō wave that split the ground beneath them, the five jumping away in time.
Kairi skid across the ground as she raised her Flower Scepter, looking determined. "Sorry, but none of us want to die!" Using Airstep, she appeared right in front of Aizen, to his surprise. "This is payback for everything you've done! Utimate Finish: Solis Flare!"
The rose bud on the top of her scepter bloomed fully as it charged an orb of light and solar energy. Before Aizen could react, the attack struck him at the center of his chest. He screamed in pain as he was sent flying back, where Terra was waiting for him.
"Get back here! We're not done yet!" Terra said as he donned his Dark Impulse Formchange. "Ultimate Finisher: Umbra!" Forming a pool of darkness, Terra sank into the ground and moved under Aizen. When he locked on to his location, Terra rose out from the ground and materialized a fist of darkness, blasting Aizen with it.
The evolved Soul Reaper was knocked over to Roxas's location, who reared his Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades, both weapons glowing with light and darkness. "I want to get in on this to! Now, Twilight Silk!" Roxas waved his Keyblades rapidly, creating a multitude of very thin beams of light and darkness, which pierced through Aizen, damaging him all over.
Aqua rushed over to where Aizen was falling, her Spellweaver Formchange active and Keyblade levitating around her. "Now, Ultimate Finisher: Magic Wish!" Aqua performed a magical spinning attack that sent a volley of magic orbs after Aizen, bombarding him with an endless assault that dealt further damage to him.
"My turn!" Aizen grimaced as he saw Riku dashing over in his Eternal Dawn Formchange, his blade glowing brightly. "Like I'd ever give up! Ultimate Finisher: Darkstorm!" With fast speed, Riku darted around the field, striking Aizen with powerful hits, leaving small but plentiful strands of darkness. "You can't stop me!" Riku enveloped his weapon in light as a wave of darkness surrounded Aizen's vision. He could not see anything and before he knew it, Riku shot past him and delivered a powerful slash.
"RRRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Aizen roared in pain as he clutched his wound. Before he could catch his breath, he heard Ichigo's voice roaring as he turned to see him lunging towards him with his Zanpakutō high.
"Getsuga…"
Aizen gnashed his teeth in frustration as he had enough of this. He clasped his hands together, ready to end this battle. "Hadō #99…" Before Aizen could cast the Hadō spell, his eyes widened when he saw Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshō had become much larger and potent than before.
"How! How can he…" He gasped as he saw an unexpected sight, a red Cero was charging up between the horns of his Hollow Mask. Aizen noticed that the energy of the Cero was fusing with the Getsuga Tenshō, empowering it. To make matters worse, he saw blood running down Ichigo's hands, which were holding the hilt of his Zanpakutō tightly. "It can't be! A Gran Rey Cero fusing with…"
"…Tenshō!" Aizen's eyes snapped wide as he realized that his hesitance allowed Ichigo to finish building up his attack while he had yet to finish his Hadō spell. "I'm too late…"
"RRRRRRRAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!" Ichigo brought his Zanpakutō down, firing his crescent shape spirit slash that struck Aizen, his cries of agony were all that could be heard as the Gran Rey Cero/Getsuga Tenshō consumed him completely while decimating the mountain that was behind him and reached all the way to the sky. When the attack ended, the clouds parted away as sunlight began to shine down on Karakura Town.
Riku, Kairi, Aqua, Terra, and Roxas smiled at the sight while Sora, who laid closer to Ichigo's location, gave a smirk as Ichigo lowered his sword down as his Hollow Mask disappeared. As the smoke from the Gran Rey Cero/Getsuga Tenshō subsided, everyone got up and got a clear view of a sight they had long to see. Aizen lying flat on his back as he let out a painful groan, all tired, beaten, and completely spent of spirit energy.
It was over. Sōsuke Aizen, the man who caused so much chaos and strife, was defeated.
Seeing that one of his most heinous enemies was defeated, Ichigo dropped his Zanpakutō and fell on his knees as a small smile formed on his face. "We did it, guys. We beat Aizen…like we promised." No longer able to contain himself, Ichigo reared back and let out a victory roar, signify their victory over Aizen. Sora and his friends proudly raised their fists and cheered victoriously as well. Despite all the hardships they've had to face, they were all super relieved that everything ended well for all of them and they could return home together.
Unfortunately, that peace was shattered when they heard a loud thud. They turned around and to their shock, Aizen was standing on one knee.
"He's still alive!?" Roxas shouted, incredulously.
"How is that even possible!?" Terra yelled in equal disbelief.
"Wait! Look!" Kairi said, pointing at him. Everyone looked closely at Aizen and sure enough, they all noticed his heavy panting and his body trembling. This showed that he was using every ounce of his strength just to stand.
Ichigo sighed in relief. "It's over. He obviously has no power to fight back anymore."
"Yeah. We don't have to worry about him anymore." Sora agreed.
"Ha, ha, ha!" Aizen laughed weakly as he shakily stood up straight. "I'm amazed…at your last minute…teamwork. But unfortunately…it's too late…as now…I'm about to evolve into an even higher being! Do you here…IT'S ALL OVER!"
Then, a sharp red light started to stab through Aizen's body, catching him and everyone else by surprise. "What the hell is happening!?" Aizen yelled as he took a few steps back, confused about what was happening to him, as were everyone else. "Is it a Kidō!? I don't get it! When was I attacked!?"
"It seems like it's finally taking effect." A new voice said. All combatants turned around to the side and saw Urahara and Yen Sid landing in the area.
"Kisuke!" Ichigo said, looking the ex-Soul Reaper captain.
"Master Yen Sid!" Sora called, surprised to see the former Keyblade Master conscious. The old sorcerer looked at Sora proudly.
"Sora, Ichigo, well done." He congratulated them. "And we thank you all for your efforts in weakening Aizen for the Kidō spell to take effect."
"I see now. You're responsible for all of this, Kisuke Urahara!" Aizen growled in anger.
"Yes, I set this offensive before you were able to completely transform." Urahara explained. "When you were most vulnerable, I planted that Kidō onto another Kidō and shot it off into your body. What I planted in you is a seal. I knew that once you fused with the Hōgyoku, killing you will end up being very difficult if not impossible. So I was forced to invent a new Kidō that has the capability of sealing you off."
"Is that so?" Aizen glared. "Too bad. I hate to disappoint you but at this moment, I'm about to evolve father than you can imagine. As much as you think you are in control of things, you won't be able to seal me off with level of Kidō!"
The second he said that, the white shell that covered Aizen's body suddenly broke itself into pieces. "What?!" He murmured surprised, seeing his bare hand in front of him. His long brown hair regressed back into its original style. "What's happening to me!?" He asked as he looked at his body and saw that it was returning to normal as well.
"It is the will of the Hōgyoku." Yen Sid explained, glaring at Aizen. "The reason the seal that Kisuke Urahara placed inside you is now beginning to take effect is because your powers have begun to weaken. It is thanks to the efforts of Sora and Ichigo, who have both fought hard and pushed you to your limit. The Hōgyoku is saying that it no longer recognizes you as its master."
Aizen eyes widened at what Yen Sid said. "You're wrong. It can't be… I control this power. It's impossible." He tried to reason as the red lights from Urahara's Kidō formed into red swords on his back, resembling crosses.
Sora, Ichigo, and the others watched as Aizen was trying to straighten himself up with the pain as a strange white substance started to form on the ground and began wrapping around Aizen like a cocoon.
"Kisuke Urahara!" Aizen glared. "Do you know how much I despise you!? With your great intelligent, why is it that you don't take independent action!? Why in the world do you choose to subjugate yourself that thing!?"
"When you say, 'that thing', are you about talking the Soul King?" Urahara questioned. He closed his eyes for a second and reopened them. "I see. So you saw it, didn't you? Without the existence of the Soul King, the Soul Society would split into pieces. The Soul King is the keystone to it all. Without that keystone in place, the system would fall apart. That my friend is how the world works."
Sora's eyes narrowed as he saw the rage that filled Aizen. He stepped forward and decided to speak his thoughts before Aizen was sealed off completely. "I remember what you told me the first day we met Aizen." Sora said, getting his attention. "You told me how the Soul Society had fallen to corruption. How the leaders of the Soul Society are too stuck on their traditions to help other people."
"Well…if there is someone who can lead the Soul Society…it's definitely not you!" Sora declared, narrowing his eyes. "Maybe you were right about what you said, but you're not the one lead them. If there ever is to be true peace for the lost Souls, then I'll find a way. As long as I continue to hold the Keyblade, I'll make sure that peace will be brought to the Soul Society, and it will be done right."
Aizen gasped at Sora's words, noticing the familiarity in them. Then, for a brief second, Sora's image was replaced by Kalgara, who looked at Aizen with resolution. Aizen's eyes widened before narrowing in rage. Seeing her face drove him to blind fury.
"That's argument that a loser would make!" Aizen refuted in a rage as he tried to scrap the cocoon off. However, the more he tried to scrap; more would grow back. "A victor should speak on how the world should be rather than how the world currently operates! I refuse to accept a world ruled by that thing! I am a victor! I SHOULD DECIDE HOW THE WORLD SHOULD BE!" The white substance covered itself around Aizen completely, turning itself into a cross with little crosses sticking out from the sides.
The dark gray clouds looming around the Rukon District started to move away as a cool breeze hit the area, especially Karakura Town.
"Ichigo…" Tatsuki said, looking the sky above.
"Sora." Goofy whispered as Donald and Isshin began to stir, slowly regaining consciousness. Everyone else looked up at the sky, seemingly knowing the outcome of the battle that took place and that their friends were alright.
In Hueco Mundo
The Keyblade Wielders, Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Vizard all looked in silences as they took time trying to comprehend what they had just seen. After months of tormenting their lives, the man that they all loathe with great passion was finally defeated and striped off all power. All thanks to the brave efforts of a Half-Soul Reaper and a Keyblade Wielder from another world.
"They did it." Ukitake breathed. "They beat Aizen!"
Kyōraku grinned. "I told you they had the right stuff.
"They won." Mashiro asked before jumping in joy. "Yay! Sora and Ichigo are so cool!" Several people also joined in on the cheering as well while some just looked on with smiles. Yamamoto bowed his head.
"This war is over." The Head-Captain said before shouting. "This victory belongs to the Soul Society!"
As many Soul Reapers cheered, the rest of Sora's and Ichigo's friends just looked on. Grimmjow just looked at them with a frown.
"Look at them! Getting all full of themselves!" Grimmjow said. "This wasn't just your victory, yah know!"
"It is in a way!" Ulquiorra said. "This war's victory goes to the Soul Reapers, their land, and soil, but not to us."
Starrk nodded. "Yeah, must of us just joined in later on. But remember who's side we fought for first."
Apacci snorted, not wanting to be reminded of wasting so much time fighting for Aizen. "Don't reminded us. But still, it does suck to be the loser of a war though."
"If it means Aizen is gone, then I don't mind being on the losing side." Mila Rose said with Sung-Sun agreeing.
"But I'm glad everything worked out in the end." Xion said, with the others nodding. Mickey then noticed Orihime's, Nel's, Lilynette's lips quivering.
"Are you two okay?" The King asked, concerned. They turned to him and rather than cry, they both smiled in joy with a few tears forming.
"We're okay your majesty." Orihime assured. "We're just…so happy."
"Sora and Ichigo…truly were amazing." Nel said. Lilynette nodded while wiping her own tear away. "I knew it. I always knew…that Sora would win." She said. "Oh…and that Ichigo guy was also cool to." This earned a round of laughter from several people gathered.
Rukia smiled in delight as she looked back up at the sky. "I over now, Ichigo." She said.
Elsewhere, Gin and Rangiku stood far away from the group and had seen the shocking conclusion of the war's end.
"Unbelievable." Rangiku said in awe. Gin just looked on in glee. "I knew I could put my faith in those two boys."
Rangiku looked over at Gin with a quizzed expression. "Aren't you disappointed that Aizen is…"
"A bummer but now I find it more satisfying to see that he'll be rotting away in prison." Gin said before his smile faltered a little, much to her surprise. "If there's one thing I regret…is that I wasn't able to return what that man took from you.
Rangiku's eyes widened as she recalled everything Gin had told her before coming here. She was taken aback but then began tearing up. For so long, she considered Gin to be a liar and a traitor. Even she tried to hide it, she was genuinely hurt at his defection, along with Izuru, and wanted to ask him why he betrayed them the first chance she had. She was prepared for an answer, that he hated her, and it wouldn't have surprised her. But now…
"We showed go." Gin said, snapping Rangiku out of her thoughts. She composed herself and wiped her eyes dry. She held Gin and helped him walk over to the entrance of Las Noches.
Ichigo stood back up to his feet as Sora and Urahara walked towards him, looking the cross that Aizen is sealed in. It was finally over, after all this time.
"So, Aizen's trapped in that thing?" Sora asked.
Urahara nodded. "Yeah, and only I have the means of freeing him. So, he won't be going anywhere anytime soon."
Ichigo walked over to them as he gazed at the cross. "What's going to happen to him?"
"Initially, he would have been executed for his crimes and treason against the Soul Society." Urahara explained. "But, seeing that all his powers from the Hōgyoku was stripped from him, he might be given a more suitable sentence. Of course, that decision alone is solely under Central 46's demand."
"As long as he never sees the light of day again, then I'm good with it." Riku said.
"Even so, I'm glad it's all over." Aqua said with relief. Sora nodded in agreement before looking at Kairi. "Kairi, I just want to say thank you."
"Hmm?" Kairi looked confused. "For what?"
"For saving me." Sora said. "I nearly gave up back there. But I heard your voice…and it gave me the strength I needed to pull myself together and not give in."
"Oh well…" Kairi blushed while smiling. "…I'm glad I was able to help you. Of course, I still wasn't able to do much in this battle."
"What do you mean? You've helped us all even in our darkest hour." Sora reasoned. "It was because of you that we all found the strength to keep fighting." He smiled brightly. "Remember what I told you…I feel strong whenever I'm with you."
Kairi gasped as her face turned as red as her hair. She recalled Sora saying the same thing to her after he used the Power of Waking to free everyone's hearts from the Lich. Kairi did not know why, but her heart suddenly skipped a beat and felt warm. What was this feeling?
"I…thank you, Sora." She said, smiling warmly at him. Sora returned the expression and before he could say anything…
"Ah, young love. So pure and innocent." Urahara teased, hiding his teasing expression behind his fan while nudging Sora. "Got yourself a lovely lady Sora. I see you have a better chance at romance than Ichigo does with Orihime."
"WHAT!" Sora and Kairi exclaimed while blushing. They immediately looked away from each other due to the embarrassment.
"HEY! WHAT KIND OF CRAP ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ME AND ORIHIME!" Ichigo angrily shouted.
"Oh, nothing really." Urahara waved him off. Before Ichigo could sock him, they heard a loud voice and looked up to see Donald, Goofy, and Isshin running over to where they were.
"Sora!" The Disney Duo yelled in delight. Sora smiled at the sight of them. "Donald! Goofy!" He said as they tackled him into a hug, falling to the ground.
"C'mon guys! Gimme a break!" Sora laughed as did the others. Isshin chuckled before looking at the cross, then at his son.
"Well, if you ain't look to shabby." Isshin said, with Ichigo chuckling. Isshin then gave his son a hard pat on the back. "You did a good job, Ichigo!"
"I couldn't have achieved the Final Getsuga Tenshō without you and Master Yen Sid." Ichigo said, thanking his father and old sorcerer
Yen Sid lightly smiled. "We merely aided you in communicating with your Zanpakutō spirit. You achieved the Final Getsuga Tenshō on your own."
"Besides, we have you and Sora to thank for beating Aizen." Roxas happily said. Ichigo and Sora felt proud of themselves as they were all relieved to have made it out alright.
Urahara then cleared his throat, getting everyone's attention. "Alright, we can hold the celebration for later. Right now, we need to regroup with everyone else in Hueco Mundo."
"But how are we going to get there?" Terra asked.
"I'll open a Garganta." Urahara said, stepping forward. "Luckly, thanks to my new technique, I can open the Garganta whenever I wish." He then waved his hands. "Keikaigi!"
A Garganta opened in front of them.
"Wow! So you can open a Garganta!" Sora said in awe.
"Well he was the one who helped us get to Hueco Mundo." Ichigo pointed out. Yen Sid, Isshin, and Urahara walked in front of everyone.
"We must make haste." Yen Sid advised. "Many of our allies are still injured from this battle. We must provide first aid."
"But what about the others." Riku asked, referring to Ichigo's friends.
"I had Kurumadani call for reinforcements before we left." Isshin explained. "They'll take the cross sealing Aizen away and take care of your friends."
"They actually wanted to speak to you, Ichigo." Goofy said. "But they all seemed too shy, since they didn't want to follow us."
Ichigo remained silent, before looking at his dad and Urahara. "You guys aren't going to erase their memories, are you?" Ichigo questioned.
"No. Well not this time anyway." Urahara answered.
Ichigo sighed and said, "I follow you. That's a good thing." A smile appeared on his face. "I was tired of hiding it all from them. When I get back, I'll explain things to each one personally."
"I'm sure they'll feel grateful." Aqua reassured.
"Friends shouldn't keep secrets from each other." Donald proclaimed. "After all, you need dependable friends, like me."
"Even if they are pinheaded ones." Sora offhandedly said.
"HEY!" This earned a round of laughter from his friends. After settling down, Yen Sid, Isshin, and Urahara lead the others as they all entered the Garganta. Unknown to them, a figure was standing above one of the mountains as he saw the Garganta closing.
"Well, gotta say, that was a spectacular show." The figure revealed himself to be Xigbar, who had watched the entire battle with great interest. "That kid sure went above my expectations, and his orange-haired friend wasn't a slouch either."
Xigbar then frowned slightly. "Still, it's a shame it had to end like this. After all, Young Xehanort and I tried to warn him about misusing the Power of Waking. Looks like he'll be paying up soon enough." He then grinned slightly. "Then again, he has been known to pull off impossible stunts. So I'm sure this won't be the last I see of him."
He then summoned a Corridor of Darkness. "Well, I'm spent a good enough time here already. I should get going. Don't want to keep them waiting. Besides…gotta reclaim the master's weapon."
With that, he stepped into the corridor as it disappeared.
In Hueco Mundo
Inside the dome of Las Noches, the Garganta opened as Sora, Ichigo, and their friends jumped off and landed on the sands. They looked around and saw how disheveled Las Noches had become since their battle with the Espadas.
"Wow. We really did a number on this place." Ichigo commented.
"Hope Aizen doesn't mind the redecoration." Roxas mocked.
Aqua looked around. "Where is everyone?"
"Well, everyone was outside battling the thousand Hollow swarm." Urahara revealed. "We should find our way out and regroup with…"
"Hey, it's them!" A voice cried.
"Is that…Ichigo?" A familiar voice said.
"Hey…Sora!" Another familiar shouted. Both Sora and Ichigo looked behind their shoulders and all the Soul Reapers, Arrancars, Vizards were running over to them, their friends in front of them as some waved over to them.
"Everyone's here." Terra said.
"That didn't take very long." Riku muttered.
"Hey guys!" Sora shouted, as they ran over towards them. Xion and Naminé tackled Sora and Roxas into a hug while Lea wrapped his arms around Roxas and Kairi, all of them laughing in joy. Isa remained on the said with crossed arms, looking at them with a smirk. Mickey rushed over to Riku who picked him up and held him at arms' length. Donald and Goofy raced over to Riku's side and did a group hug. Ven rushed over to Terra and Aqua as they both caught him and laughed as they held one another.
Ichigo happily looked at the Keyblade Wielders until he heard his name being called out and looked over at his friends who have all gathered. "Orihime…Uryū…Rukia…Chad…and Renji…" Ichigo said, smiling. "I'm surprised to see you all. Is it alright for you to be up so soon?"
"Don't project your own weakness on me, Ichigo." Uryū said.
"Thanks, but it's not really an issue." Chad said.
"Are you alright?" Rukia asked. "Now that I'm up close, you looked a little different."
"That's really you…right Ichigo?" Orihime asked, crying in joy. "Your hair has gotten so long…I thought for a minute that someone else was standing there. I'm glad…I'm so glad…"
"Come on Orihime, there's no need to cry." Ichigo said, smiling. "If my hair is that bad, I'll get it cut that would help."
"Really? I think it makes you look cool." Sora commented.
"SORA! ICHIGO!" Both boys suddenly felt like they were struck by a train when Nel tackled them with insane speed and gave them both another back-breaking hug. "YOU DID IT! YOU TWO REALLY DID IT! I KNEW YOU COULD WIN ALL ALONG!"
"Yay! They did it! They did it! They did it! They did it!" Pesche and Dondochakka danced.
"Ms. Nel, you're going to crush them again." Sora looked to see Halibel standing before them.
"Halibel! You're alright!" He said in delight. Halibel nodded with a smile as Nel let go of the boys. "Sora, it is great to see you again. And it is also nice to officially meet you, Ichigo Kurosaki."
Ichigo nodded. "Likewise."
"Gotta say, I'm impressed you two actually managed to pull it off." Starrk commented before looking at Sora, giving a smile. "It's good to see you Sora."
Sora nodded before Lilynette unexpectedly leaped on Sora and lashed onto his neck. Before Sora could ask, he felt his shirt getting soaked and noticed that tears were flowing from her lone eye like a river.
"I was…so scared…" Lilynette said, crying. "I thought I wouldn't see you again."
"Come on, Lilynette." Sora said with his trademark grin. "You know that it'll take a lot more than Aizen to deal me out." The others laughed at his witty remark.
"Those two never cease to amaze me." Ulquiorra said as he and Grimmjow stood further away from the group. The latter just grunted, acting like he didn't care about their well-being.
"Ichigo Kurosaki, Sora!" Yamamoto spoke up as he and several Soul Reapers stood behind him. "Though this was not your war to fight, both of you fought valiantly and went above my expectations. We of the Soul Society owe you two our sincerest gratitude. Not only did you save the Soul Society, but protected Karakura Town and its inhabitants. I must humbly admit that as Head-Captain of the 13 Court Guard Squads, we could not have achieved victory without your help. You have my gratitude."
Yamamoto took a deep bow to them, which caught many others by surprise. Not once has the Head-Captain ever shown this much humility and gratitude towards anyone, especially humans. Perhaps Sora and Ichigo really were unique people.
"Wow! I never thought I'd see the day when the old man would bow his head. Have to say, you boys never cease to amaze me."
Everyone gasped at the familiar voice and turned to see Gin walking towards them, unsupported and with his trademark smile.
Izuru stared with wide eyes. "Captain Ichimaru!"
"Gin!" Hitsugaya seethed. All the others began reaching for their Zanpakutō, ready to strike Gin down. The silver-haired Soul Reaper continued smiling as he looked at them all without a care in the world.
"Wait!" Rangiku's voice cried out, dashing over in front of Gin.
"Rangiku!" Shūhei exclaimed, surprised to see that she was here with Gin.
"It's okay! He's not going to do anything!" Rangiku pleaded.
"We can't be sure about that." Suì-Fēng scoffed, not believing her words.
However, Sora unexpectedly walked over to Rangiku's side, turning around to face Gin. Sora looked at him with a frown before asking, "Aizen told me that the reason you joined him was because you wanted to kill him. Is that true?"
Everyone looked at Sora and Gin in absolute shock, especially Izuru. Rangiku just held her arm and looked away.
"Wait! What are you saying, Sora!?" Ichigo asked in disbelief. "You're saying this guy was planning on killing Aizen all along!?"
Sora nodded. "Aizen told me himself, when I stole the Hōgyoku. Honestly, I don't see a reason why Aizen would lie about this, especially since he thought Gin was beaten. Plus…" He gave Gin an analytical look. "…I always wondered what Gin would have to gain from joining Aizen. He's always been a mystery and I could never figure him out. But even I didn't think he'd try to kill him."
"Hold on. You mean that this shifty-eyed guy was actually a double agent this whole time?" Lea inquired. Then again, he himself was working as a double agent when he infiltrated Marluxia's group at Castle Oblivion. So he learned to pick up on things when it came to people acting as spys.
"News to us." Kyōraku said. The other captains nodded in agreement.
At that moment, Riku then realized something, "Wait a minute, when we battled Aizen, you learned that grabbing his Zanpakutō would prevent his hypnosis from taking effect. Gin told you that, didn't he?"
Gin grinned at him. "Got it in one."
"If that's what Gin told you then…" Aqua realized that he was speaking the truth. Yamamoto narrowed his eyes at Gin, still remaining skeptical about all of this. "Explain yourself, Gin Ichimaru!"
Gin just gave Yamamoto the same irritating grin of his. "Aw, I don't want to." Yamamoto gritted his teeth as he prepared to yell at Gin…before Izuru interrupted. "Captain Ichimaru! Is it true!? Was your intention really to kill Aizen all this time?"
Gin's face softened, looking at his former lieutenant. "Yep, that was the plan."
"I see." Ulquiorra said. "Throughout all this time, you were always an enigma, even to me. I kept my close eye on you and yet I never once suspected that you would eventually betraying Aizen."
"Aizen?" Gin asked in amusement. "No more 'Lord Aizen'? Never expected that from you."
Lea groaned as he felt his head was hurting from all this talk that he barely comprehended. "Alright! Will someone please explain what the heck is going on around here!?"
"As usual, your thick head just cannot comprehend the simplest things around you." Isa sneered, much to Lea's annoyance.
"There will be time for explanations." Yen Sid assured. "However, it is important that we treat everyone's injuries before departing for the Soul Society."
No one could argue with Yen Sid's reasoning and agreed that receiving first aid was the first priority.
For the past half hour, everyone began to have their injuries treated. During that time, they began having a group discussions about the events that had transpired. During this time, Yen Sid decided to properly introduce Sora to the 13 Court Guard Squads, all of them began treating Sora with respect and kindness (with Suì-Fēng begrudgingly thanking him for his part in the war). Rangiku tried to flirt with Sora, but Kairi quickly pulled him away before she could anything other than introduce herself. Before Sora or Ichigo could explain what happened in the real Karakura Town, the others explained that they had already witnessed their final battle with Aizen in the real Karakura Town. Sora, Ichigo, and their friends were understandably perturbed by the fact that they were being watched. Sora even seethed angrily that Mayuri placed those bacteria on his body and demanded them removed. The mad scientist agree, stating that he already gathered some interesting data on him already. The Arrancars all went back into their sealed states, with Lilynette chewing Sora out about the Ultimate Form, his explanation that he acquired it at that moment went futile. Yamamoto kept his eyes on Gin. Despite having learned that Gin truly wanted to kill Aizen, he still couldn't be trusted. Gin just looked back at him with that smile on his face.
Then, there was the issue about Ichigo's father being a Soul Reaper this entire time. Ichigo had to constantly tell everyone that he had no idea about this. However, he couldn't help but notice Hitsugaya and Rangiku keeping their distance from his father throughout the entire time, with perturbed looks on their faces. What was wrong? Did they have something against his father or what? He asked them about it but before they could give and answer…his dad did a crazy flying kick into Ichigo's head and that lead to the two getting into a comical fight. Kairi and Orihime tried to stop the fight while everyone else laughed at the exchange between the father and son.
Meanwhile, Momo (who had regained consciousness during the final battle) walked away from the others as she stared off into the distance. She remembered the day in the Soul Society when Aizen appeared to have been murdered. She had been so devastated that day that she blindly attacked anyone who she felt was responsible for his death. Even when Aizen had been labeled as a traitor and nearly killed her, she continued to believe that Gin had been the one pulling the strings the entire time. When she joined in the battle against the Arrancars, she thought she had accepted the fact that Aizen was the enemy, a part of her still believed that there was still good left in him.
Unfortunately, there was none. At the time of Aizen's sealing, she finally saw him at his breaking point: From the kind, well-mannered man; to the callous, manipulative, and self-centered traitor; and finally, to the arrogant and overconfident madman. It was at his final moment before his sealing that the initial view of Aizen she had instantly shattered. The man that she knew never existed, just another illusion, no different than the ones he could create with Kyōka Suigetsu.
"Momo?" Momo turned around to see Hitsugaya walking towards her. The Squad 10 Captain was afraid of what she would do now that Aizen was defeated. Personally, he figured that she would have fallen into a deep depression at losing the man she held in high regards. But he was surprised to see her look a lot calmer than how he thought she'd look.
"Are you okay?" Hitsugaya asked, worried. Smiling softly, Momo nodded. "Yes, Tōshirō." She said. "I'm fine. In fact, I feel…like…I've finally woken up."
Hitsugaya allowed himself a smile as he could see the truth in her eyes and sincerity in her words. And if that was true, then the hold Aizen had on her was finally gone.
Unohana sighed as she finished her treatment on Hiyori's injuries (the snaggle-tooth girl also regained consciousness during the battle).
"I'm finished." Unohana said as she stood up from her knelt position. "We should feel grateful to Orihime's abilities. Otherwise it would have taken longer for your injuries to be healed."
Hiyori moved her arm back and forth to get a good feel of her condition. So far, it moved as good as it did before her injury by Gin. Speaking of which, even though she learned that he desired to kill Aizen, that didn't mean she was going to forgive him…especially because of what he had done.
"How are you feeling, Hiyori?" Lisa asked.
"Fine." Was all the pig-tailed girl said before looking away. Shinji noticed the look of frustration on her face and knew something was wrong.
"Lemme guess, you're sore at the fact that you were taken out before getting a chance to settle the score with Aizen, right?" Shinji asked and the lack of response from Hiyori was all the answer he needed to hear.
"Is that all?" Love said. "No need to get to hung up about it. After all, we all got beat. Our combine power wasn't enough to put a scratch on him."
"Besides, I got taken out before I could do anything to." Kensei said. "I looked away and before I knew it, that brat got in a lucky hit."
"That's not what I mean!" Hiyori snapped as she looked away with a wrathful glare. "It should have been us. It was our vow to kill him. We should have been the ones to make him suffer. But in the end, we couldn't anything!"
Unohana and the Vizards realized that the harshest wounds didn't come from her physical injuries but from her pride instead. Not that they could blame her though, as they all suffered from the atrocities that Aizen committed centuries ago and now he finally paid for it by losing the power he sought after by the very object he treasured.
"As frustrating as it is, you should feel grateful that you are still alive." Unohana advised. "You will experience failure throughout your life as a warrior, but what is important is that you learn from that failure. Use it to gain experience and soon you will be able to reach new heights that you could never reach before"
She smiled and continued. "I believe Sora is a perfect example in that regard."
"Sora, huh?" Hiyori said, before thinking. She initially had very low opinion of him but when she him battle, even when the odds were stacked high against him, he was able to breach it and grow stronger, as she witnessed during his final battle with Aizen.
"Ah, that kid got lucky." Hiyori snorted. "Like I'll be shown up by someone like him, and Ichigo for that matter. I don't care how strong they are now; I'll just work harder from now on."
Her comrades looked happily as they could tell that Hiyori was now doing a bit better. The snaggled-tooth girl shot a glance at Unohana. "Hey…thanks by the way." Hiyori begrudgingly said.
"Why are you thanking me?" Unohana asked. "You must know that a thank you isn't necessary for saving a friend."
"What the hell makes you think we're friends, yah fool?!" Hiyori scoffed.
Shinji chuckled at her remark. "I had a feeling you'd say that. I swear you're too easy to read snaggle-tooth."
BAM
"WHAT! TRY SAYING THAT TO ME AGAIN, DUMB ASS!" Hiyori snapped as she kicked Shinji's head and began whacking him with her sandal. Everyone else just shared a laugh as they continued watching. It looked like things were returning back to normal.
Elsewhere, Ichigo sat down on a piece of rubble and looked at the artificial sky as Sora laid down on the sand next to him. As everyone was getting reacquainted with one another, they decided to keep their distance from everyone else. They had too much on their mind and wanted time to themselves to think it over.
"You two doing okay?" They turned to see Urahara walking over to them.
"Just got word from the Soul Society." He said. "The cross seal containing Aizen was taken to the Seireitei. As I understand it, Central 46 will make a decision shortly on his disposition."
Ichigo's faltered as he looked down at the ground. "I see…" He said, with nothing more to say. Urahara looked over at Sora, who just stared up at the sky nonchalantly.
"Why the sad look?" Urahara questioned. "You two should be happy that it's all over."
"To be honest, I'm not really sure." Sora said. "We're just having a lot of mixed feelings."
"You two saved everyone's lives and this entire world." the shopkeeper said. "All because you two risked everything to stop Aizen, which you two have accomplished."
"We know that." Ichigo said.
"You two did the right thing." Urahara assured. "Believe me, there's no reason for you guys to regret anything, especially you Ichigo. There was no other way." He said, referring to Ichigo sacrificing his own powers to defeat Aizen. The three remained silent as a cloud above them pass by, giving them a shadow. "So let me ask something about Aizen." Ichigo said. "Is it true that he was really…rejected by the Hōgyoku?"
"What do you mean?" Sora inquired.
"My old man and Yen Sid told me that the Hōgyoku's power is to take the heart of the people surrounding it and manifest their heart's desire." Ichigo explained. "If that turns out to be the case, could it be that Aizen lost his powers by his own choice? When I battled Aizen, I finally had enough power to finally feel his sword. And I can tell you with certainty that there was nothing but loneliness in that weapon. It's very sad when you think about the implications. If his powers were superior from the time he was born, perhaps he been searching all these years for someone he can regard as his equal. It must have been frustrating at first until it became depressing. At some point, he must have given up thinking that he would find such a being. I would imagine that he's been wishing somewhere deep in his heart that he would become a simple Soul Reaper just like the others."
Urahara and Sora looked at Ichigo, knowing what Ichigo meant but remained silent as they did not know how to respond.
"Actually," Ichigo and Urahara turned to Sora, who stood up and said, "I felt something else when I touched Aizen's sword. While his spirit energy was monstrous and immense, I couldn't help but we it wasn't entirely pure. It was…as if Aizen had some kind of mixed power."
"Mixed power?" Ichigo asked.
"It wasn't entirely the same kind of spirit energy that you and the other Soul Reapers use." The Keyblade Wielder explained. "I also sensed…magic energy from it, trying to be mixed in with his and that's what formed into the monstrous spiritual pressure he's had ever since he was born."
"Any way you can verify that claim?" Urahara asked. Sora shook his head. "It was only a hunch. Maybe I'm over thinking it."
"It's not like anything can be done now." Kyōraku said as he and Ukitake walked over to them, having overheard their entire conversation. "The fact of the matter is that he's gone now. There's no changing that."
"There was more to Sōsuke that we had yet to understand. But you two should not burden yourselves with that fact." Ukitake said, kindly. "Aizen has been defeated and peace has been brought to the Soul Society and World of the Living all because of you two."
Sora and Ichigo felt as if some of the weight had been lifted off his shoulders by Ukitake's words. Maybe he was right about them not giving so much thought into this.
Yen Sid nodded. "You should both feel proud of your efforts, especially you Sora. In your every endeavor, you continue to put others before yourself, never striving away from your path. Wherever you are, Sora, magic happens. That has always been your greatest strength."
"He does have a point." Ichigo said, looking at Sora. "I may not have been able to beat Aizen without your help. I guess miracles do happen wherever you go."
Sora chuckled. "Well…I would say that my greatest strength would be to just…follow my heart. I may not have been chosen by the Keyblade at first, but instead I became connected to the people it did chose. I'm proud to have become a small part of something much bigger." He then looked at Ichigo and the other friends he's made in this world. "It's the same with you guys, I've already become part of your hearts just like you have become a part of mine. And it was that strength that helped me defeat every enemy I faced and save the worlds."
His friends couldn't help but smile warmly at Sora as others looked at him with awe and respect.
"Becoming a part of your heart huh." Starrk mused, smiling. "I guess that doesn't sound so bad after all."
"I guess hanging out with Aizen wasn't so bad after all." Lilynette said, causing everyone to look at her in confusion. She then grinned at Sora. "Cause if Starrk and I hadn't, then we would never have met you."
"I will admit." Suì-Fēng said. "The boy is remarkable."
"Never met anyone who would risk their life saving the worlds." Ashido said. "But still, you're about the bravest person I've met. I respect that."
Rukia grinned. "He's even cooler than you are, Ichigo."
Ichigo shot her a look. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"He saved the worlds three times." Rukia said smugly. "You barely saved one world…with his help."
This was followed by mostly everyone laughing as the two started arguing with each other.
"Never had much opinion about humans…" Apacci said, but then looked at Sora with a grin. "…but you're okay."
"After all, anyone who's earned the respect of Master Halibel has proven themselves a noble warrior." Mila Rose stated.
"Even as a young boy, you were willing to risk your life for the entire universe." Sung-Sun said, smiling behind her sleeve. "I always knew you held a special power within your heart."
"The kids got guts; I'll give him that." Ikkaku said with a grin. "And he's not a bad fighter either."
"Sora is so brave." Mashiro chirped.
Rangiku had sly smile on her face. Oh the fun she was gonna have with little Sora.
Just then, a shadow loomed over Sora and Ichigo. They looked up to see Kenpachi looking down at them with a big grin on his face. Or was it a leer? The look he was giving them sent chills down Ichigo's spine while Sora remained nonchalant.
"So, Sora and Ichigo." Kenpachi said. "Word is that you both got some new power that gave you two the strength to beat Aizen."
"Oh, well…it's like…" Ichigo said nervously, not liking where this was going. Sora however, replied plainly. "Yeah, we did."
Kenpachi's grin widened. "Perfect." He raised his sword and brought it down just as Sora reflexively summoned his Kingdom Key Keyblade, blocking it. The force of the collision released a massive shockwave that knocked back several Lieutenants and Fracciónes.
"Captain!" Ikkaku and Yumichika both cried.
"Captain Zaraki," Ukitake said calmly but firmly. "What is the meaning of this?"
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Kenpachi said as if that was the most obvious. "I want to fight them."
"WHAT!" Ichigo exclaimed. However, Sora smirked in excitement. "I fight, huh? Sure, I'm always up for a good challenge."
"He has no idea what he's getting into!" Ichigo mentally exclaimed, remembering how his last battle with Kenpachi ended. Before he could talk Sora out of fighting Kenpachi, someone stepped up from behind them.
"Sorry big guy! But you're gonna have to find yourself new prey." It was Grimmjow, who grabbed his Zanpakutō and looked at them with a sneer.
Ichigo just looked at Grimmjow with exasperation. "Grimmjow, seriously!?"
"That's right! Didn't think I'd forget about you, right Ichigo!" Grimmjow remarked snidely. "Got yourself a nice power up! Now let's see if that can save you from me!"
"Knock it off, you two!" Suì-Fēng demanded. "We're in the middle of enemy grounds!"
"Who cares about that?" Kenpachi asked before looking back at Sora, with a leer-like grin. "Hope you're ready to brawl! Cause it's a fight to the death!"
"Just stay out of my way, big guy!" Grimmjow demanded.
Kenpachi just grunted. "Don't blame me if I accidentally cut you apart, cat."
"Don't even think about it, you barbarians!" Mayuri yelled at them. "I still have experiments I need to subject the Keyblade Wielder through, and I won't have you damage him!"
"You're not laying a finger on Sora!" Riku snapped at him. Sora and Ichigo prepared themselves for another battle, when suddenly…
"ENOUGH!" Yamamoto's voice boomed, causing everyone to look at him. "Aizen has been defeated and this war is over. I will not have you squabbling with each other!" He shot a look at Kenpachi as he said this, as if daring him to make a move. Kenpachi just looked back at him, showing no fear, before clicking his teeth.
"Tch," The Squad 11 Captain scoffed. "Fine." He sheathed his sword and walked away from the other. Grimmjow just looked at him with a mocking grin. "Ha, like I'm afraid of some wash up old geezer. If you want to fight, then give me all you-"
WHAMP
Grimmjow held his head as Nel glared at him with her fist steaming, having hit him hard. "That's enough boy! If you plan on fighting people that clearly outmatch you, then it's the seem as suicide. I swear, you're more hotheaded than Nnoitra at times."
Nel sighed. "Let's go. Sora and Ichigo are too tired from their battle. Let them rest." She then grabbed him by the back of his collar and dragged him away, which embarrassed him greatly.
"HEY! You damn tramp! I'll get you for this!" Grimmjow roared as he tried to break free from Nel, but to no avail. Sora and Ichigo just looked on in amusement, still finding it hard to believe that Nel was able to tame someone like Grimmjow of all people.
"If we're finished, we have more pressing matters to tend to." Ulquiorra said, getting their attention. "As you can see, Las Noches is now in ruins. Aizen has been made prisoner and half of the Espada are dead."
"So, what's going to happen in Hueco Mundo?" Mickey asked.
"With no leader to bring order to Hueco Mundo, the Hollows will go on a rampage and it could lead to chaos." Ulquiorra explained. "Normally this responsibility would fall onto the most powerful Hollow or Arrancar and that would apply to Starrk. After all, he was the First Espada."
Starrk rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, about that…" he said. "…leadership was never really my thing."
Lilynette kicked him in the shins. "What? You jerk, we'd get a whole kingdom to ourselves and you turn it down. Are you completely brain dead or just stupid!"
Ignoring Lilynette's ranting, Sung-Sun raised her hand as she looked at her master. "If it's a new ruler we need, then I believe Master Halibel is most suited for the position."
"For once, I agree with her." Apacci said, smiling.
"There is no leader as wise and noble as Master Halibel." Mila Rose praised. Many looked over to Halibel, wanting to hear her answer. Shockingly, the Third Espada shook her head in refusal.
"I'm sorry, but I must decline." Halibel said before explaining. "A fake sun could not bring light to the darkness of Hueco Mundo. If it is a wise and noble ruler we need, we know of one who fits the description."
"Who?" Sora asked, before noticing his Arrancar friends looking at him. He blinked a few times before realizing what they meant. "Wait! You…mean…ME!"
"WHAT!" Everyone shouted in surprise. Halibel nodded, ignoring their reactions. "Whom else would I refer to."
"Wait, I think there's been a mistake!" Riku said. "No one said anything about Sora being king!"
"Sora was brought here by Aizen, but he never had any intention of becoming the next king." Kairi said. "Right Sora." She turned to her friend who, rather than argue, drifted into a daydream of him sitting on Aizen's throne and all the Hollows, Menos Grande, Arrancars, and Espada (who were somehow brought back to life) all bowing before him and shouting praises at him. Sora gave a hearty laugh as the residents of Hueco Mundo continued to worship him.
"Me…King…" Sora said, causing most of his friends to frown at him as they could tell that he actually wanted to be king.
"There he goes again." Donald sighed.
"Sora." Goofy said, sternly.
Sora snapped out of his thoughts and rubbed his neck as he chuckled sheepishly. "Sorry. I was…just…considering it. That's all." This did not convince them at all. Sora then looked at Halibel. "But anyways, I'm gonna have to refuse. A while back, I got this whole lecture about how being a king is no easy job. There's a lot of rules, responsibility, and a lot of stuff I didn't get. But what I do know is that being king just isn't for me."
He then smirked as he continued. "But…since I have the opportunity to be in charge for once, I'd like to get things done."
"Like what?" Ichigo asked.
"First," Sora looked at Nel, Pesche, Dondochakka, and Gantenbainne. "I hereby reinstate Nel and Gantenbainne as full-fledged Espadas and Pesche and Dondochakka are allowed back into Hueco Mundo once more."
The four in question looked shocked as they stared at Sora before registering what he had said. Before Sora could speak again, Nel and her Fracciónes tackled him into another group hug.
"All right, Sora!" Pesche cried.
"Now the Three Desert Brothers are final together again! Know what I'm saying!?" Dondochakka cheered as tears flew out of his eyes.
"You truly are a great person Sora!" Nel squealed as Sora laughed while trying to free himself. Gantenbainne looked down in deep thought as he remembered that he, Dordoni, and Cirucci were excommunicated from the Espada for being too weak to keep up with the current members of the Espada. But then, he remembered the time he and Sora paired up for their mission and how Sora told him that he believed that he was strong, despite his own shortcomings. He never admitted it but hearing someone praise his skills for the first time made him feel grateful. As Sora stood up, he saw Gantenbainne giving him a smile with a respectful nod, which Sora returned.
"Anyways," Sora said as he dusted himself off. "as my second act as king, I'd like to hereby step-down and name Halibel my successor."
"Me!" Halibel exclaimed, her eyes widened. "You are mistaken. If you recall, I said…"
"I know what you said." Sora interrupted. "But I think you're selling yourself short. Didn't you tell me that you took in Apacci and the others and taught them everything about surviving. You're not just smart, but you're also kind, as you can feel sympathy and compassion for your own subordinates." Sora proudly stated. "If you ask me, you have everything needed to become a great ruler. Especially compared to these guys." He sneered, pointing at Starrk, Ulquiorra, and Grimmjow.
"What was that!" Grimmjow barked as everyone laughed in response. Starrk sighed. "Well, he's not wrong." Ulquiorra nodded in agreement.
Sora chuckled before looking back at Halibel. "And by the way, as king, this is technically an order. So you don't have much choice." Sora playfully said as Halibel just stood in silence. She wanted to find a counterargument but could not find the right words. Nel walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Sora is right Tier." Nel agreed with her. "Out of all the Espada, you are the wisest of all. I truly believe that you have what it takes to make a difference and bring peace to Hueco Mundo. And know that I will be at your side."
"So will we." Apacci said as she, Mila Rose and Sung-Sun stepped forward. "We are the Fracciónes of Master Halibel. We'll stand be her side no matter what!"
"You're doing it again Apacci." Mila Rose scolded. "Deciding things for us."
"Although, we're not disagreeing with your claim." Sung-Sun said.
Halibel looked around and saw every Arrancar nodding their heads in approval (Nel had to force Grimmjow's head down, much to his chagrin). She sighed in defeat. "It seems that I am outvoted. Very well then. I will do my best…as the new Queen of Hueco Mundo."
"You…queen…don't make me laugh!"
A round of gasps were heard when they turned around and saw the voice came from none other than Baraggan. He panted heavily as he was still as damaged as from when he was defeated by Riku and Terra in their previous battle. Behind him were his Fracciónes, also badly damaged from their previous battles.
"It's him!" Suì-Fēng exclaimed.
"Crap! This isn't good!" Ōmaeda screamed.
"Baraggan! I thought he was dead!" Terra said in shock.
Baraggan let out a mocking roar of laughter before calming down "For a second, I thought I was dead myself." Baraggan explained. "Fortunately, you neglected to kill my Fracciónes, which was a grave mistake your made. They transferred their spirit energies to me to ensure that I would regain consciousness. It was all thanks to them that I was revived!"
Sora narrowed his eyes and stepped forward. "What do you plan on doing now? Aizen's gone, this war is over. You have no reason to fight anymore!"
Baraggan scoffed. "Like I ever gave a damn about Aizen's cause. Now that the bastard is gone, I going to take back everything he has taken from me! Such as my palace and my kingdom!" He then gave everyone a nasty look. "But first I'm going to show you what happens when you defy a God!"
Red spirit energy seethed out of Baraggan as he said, "Everyone that dared to stand in my way will be slain by my own hands!" Everyone grabbed their weapons as they prepared to fight Baraggan. The former king was undaunted at being outnumbered and continued to exert his raw power. "Don't get arrogant because of your numbers! Even a swarm of ants stand no chance against a me! I AM THE KING! I…AM…A GOD!"
WHAM
Baraggan felt the air get knocked out of him as he saw that Charlotte had delivered a hard punch on his stomach. The others looked in disbelief as Baraggan glared daggers at Charlotte, who held a neutral expression.
"Choulhornn…what is…this…" Were his last words before passing out. Charlotte picked up his king over his shoulders.
"My King, it is over. We have lost." Charlotte explained. "Let us retreat now while we still have some dignity left."
Vega shook his head in anger. "Choulhornn! What are you doing!? This is treason!"
"That's enough Vega!" Findorr sternly said. He gave a look at Charlotte before nodding, showing approval of his actions. "A conflict such as this will result in bloodshed for our side. We are greatly wounded and outmatched. If we fought…then we will die and our efforts to restore Lord Baraggan would have been in vain. It is practical that we retreat for the time being. If you will allow us." He looked at Sora.
Sora looked over at Yamamoto, who after a few seconds, sheathed his Zanpakutō, nodding his head. The Keyblade Wielder nodded and looked back at Baragga's Fracciónes. "If you guys don't want to fight then we won't either. Just take him away from Las Noches, and don't ever come back here again."
"That's right! Or else you'll have to answer to us!" Ōmaeda boasted, earning him a whack on the head from his captain.
Vega, Parduoc, and Redder seethed angrily while Findorr raised his hand to calm them down. "Enough. We must leave now! Poww please carry his majesty with us."
Poww nodded and picked up both Baraggan and Charlotte. They began taking their leave, but not before Findorr made one final glance at Sora.
"We will respect your decision. But be aware that our majesty is not as merciful." Findorr stated. "He will make his return and when that happens we will not run nor cower. Be prepared for that." With that message, Findorr walked off to join his allies as they made their way out of Las Noches. Sora sighed as they were now out of sight.
"Well, with that out of the way, what happens now?" Sora asked.
"Now that everyone has been treated, it's time we return to the Soul Society." Yamamoto replied. "We need to have Sōsuke Aizen secured and return Karakura Town to its original location."
"But what about…" Orihime asked as she looked at the Arrancars.
"Do not worry Orihime. Since they aided us in the battle and no longer wish to fight, they will not be prosecuted." Ukitake replied, sincerely. "That is, if they vow never to attack the Soul Society or World of the Living again."
"Rest assure, we have no intentions of bringing harm to either worlds. You have our word." Halibel spoke on their behalf, the other Arrancars nodding.
"And what about Shinji and the others." Ichigo said, looking over at them.
"Considering that Aizen had them undergo Hollowification by force, we have gathered enough evidence to exonerated them for their false crimes." Yen Sid replied, which Kyōraku and Ukitake nodded in agreement.
"We figured it was the least we could do for your guys." Kyōraku said.
"Well if it will get Central 46 off our backs, then I'm good with it." Shinji said as the other Vizards nodded. However, Sora noticed a look of hesitance on Hiyori's and Lisa's faces. Unknown to them, he had over heard what Hiyori had said to Aizen and during their trip here, Yen Sid had explained everything to him, how Aizen forced them to undergo Hollowification that lead to them gaining Hollow powers. This also lead for them, Urahara, Yoruichi, and another friend name Tessai to be labeled criminals of the Soul Society. This must explain their grudge against Soul Reapers and why they hated Aizen so much. Sora couldn't blame them as they had lost so much by receiving a power they did not chose.
Suddenly, an idea popped in Sora's head as a grin formed on his face. He dug into his pocket and pulled out the Lamp Heartbinder once more. The Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Vizards looked curiously as Sora looked at the Heartbinder, grasping it in his hand. "Alright Genie! I'm ready for my last wish!"
"WISH! Did somebody say WISH!?" A voice boomed, causing them to step back as a large cloud of smoke puffed out of the Heartbinder, revealing himself to be…
"Genie of the LLLLLLAAAAAAMMMMMPPPPP!" He flew around Sora and Ichigo, wrapping his arms around their shoulders. "Boy oh boy! You two were great out there. I saw the whole thing from the Heartbinder!"
"So you were watching?" Sora asked while Ichigo stared at the Genie in shock.
"You bet I did! Even got it on tape!" He turned into a camera which displayed Sora and Ichigo taking on Aizen before changing back. "Little bum that I didn't get a chance to show off my new moves! But hey, you guys saved the day! Hail the conquering heroes!"
Genie turned into a one-man band and began playing 'Stars and Stripes Forever,' Sora laughed while Ichigo began to feel very uncomfortable. Meanwhile, the ones that did not know Genie looked on with awe and confusion.
"What is…that thing?" Tetsuzaemon shuttered.
"He called himself a Genie." Hanatarō replied, equally shocked.
"A Genie?" Hitsugaya exclaimed. "As in, the being that grants three wishes."
"The one and only!" Genie replied, turning into a slot machine, pulling his arm down, and three faces of Genie appears as they say "Three!"
Three Genie duplicates came out of the slot wearing sombreros and said, "Uno, dos, tres!" Then Genie, as a black and white Groucho Max, passed by Sora and Ichigo as he said, "No substitutions, exchanges, or refunds." To make his point, a duck dropped down with the secret word, 'refunds.'
"Ha Ha Ha! He's funny!" Yachiru laughed gleefully.
"The legendary djinn, a being capable of granting any three wishes. I must say it's quite fascinating." Urahara said in delight. Mayuri also looked at Genie like a predator to its prey, wanting to conduct research on this mystical being.
"It…reminds me of an odd dream I had a while ago." Isane mused, quickly shaking her head to forget that usual dream involving Ichigo and his friends dressed as Arabian Night characters.
As Genie turned back to normal, Sora began walking over towards him. "Nice to see you to Genie. Anyways, I like to make my final wish."
"Well tell me. I'm all ears." Genie said, enlarging his left ear.
Sora shot a look at the Vizards before saying, "I wish for you to undo the Hollowification of Shinji and the Vizards."
Silence filled the area as everyone looked at Sora in shock, the Vizards being the most surprised. Did they hear that right. Sora just wished for…
"Hollowification huh?" Genie pulled out a dictionary and put on reading glasses as he skimmed through the pages before stopping. "Ah here it is! Process by which the strength limit of a soul is increased by removing the boundary between Soul Reapers and Hollows."
Hiyori glared at Sora. "Hey, what do you think you're…"
"Let me take a look!" Genie poofed his glasses and dictionary away. He flew over and began to closely examine the Vizards one by one. Some like Hachi, Rose, and Lisa politely let him observe them (though Lisa threaten to kill him if he tried to touch her or look under her skirt). Others like Kensei and Hiyori were rather rude about it. After a few seconds, Genie poofed back to Sora and had a look of uncertainty.
"Sorry kiddo. Hate to break it to yah but there's nothing I can do for them." Genie said sadly.
"What! But why?" Sora asked, shocked.
"Like I told you about my three no-no rules; I can't kill anyone, make others love, and can't bring people back from the dead." Genie explained. "And your friends happen to fall within the dead category. As Death Gods, my powers have no effect on them. I'm afraid to say this, but this one's just out of my jurisdiction."
"Which means there's nothing he can do for them." Urahara surmised. Sora let out a sad sigh as he looked back at the Vizards. "I'm sorry guys. I guess there's nothing I can do to turn you back."
"You wanted to undo our Hollowification?" Shinji repeated, still surprised by Sora's action. Said person nodded and explained. "I didn't say this, but I overheard what Hiyori said. And Master Yen Sid filled me in on what Aizen did to you guys. So…I thought if I helped get rid of your Hollowification…then all of you can finally be free of Aizen, for good."
The Vizards couldn't help but feel touched by Sora's kindness and good gesture. Sure enough, it was the first time anyone has ever shown this much kindness towards them. When they Hollowified the first night, Central 46 immediately ordered their deaths, not even bothering to give them a proper trial. While Kisuke, Tessai, and Yoruichi would often visit them, they still felt sore at the Soul Society for having turned their backs on them and vowed to never return…at least, until Aizen was dead.
But Sora, even though he just met them today, he still showed this much compassion towards them and wanted to help them out no matter what. Even Hiyori looked genuinely touched but face faulted as she quickly kicked Sora in the shin.
"OWWW!" Sora held his shin as he hopped in pain. Shinji turned his head with a glare. "Hiyori! Why'd you kick him for!?"
Hiyori just huffed, crossing her arms. This was a surprise to her friends since she would normally retort with an equal angry face.
"We didn't ask for your help you know." Hiyori began. "We don't really care whether our Hollow powers stay with us or not. We just worked hard to master them to beat Aizen at his own game." She then looked back, this time with a smirk on her face. "Besides, having Hollow powers makes me a total badass. No way I'm gonna give it up now."
Shinji nodded and looked back at Sora, who's pain went away. "We appreciate the offer Sora, but we're okay with how things turned out. Besides, our Hollow powers have already become a part of us. And it might come in handy in the future."
"Though we find it noble how you offered your final wish for us." Hachi said.
"The true beauty in people are those who put others first." Rose stated.
"Gotta say kid, you're alright." Love proudly said.
"Sora's even cooler than before." Mashiro cheered.
Kensei and Lisa weren't the ones to give praise, but for a brief instant, they shot Sora proud looks of smiles before turning away. Sora return the smiles and nodded in understanding. However, there was nothing he wanted to wish for himself, but he had to use his third wish for something. there was something he wish he could do for his friends. Then, he looked around and noticed how disheveled it had become since their battle with the Espadas. He didn't want to leave his Arrancar friends here and it probably take months to rebuild (even longer with the added Hollows running amuck).
However, as if a light bulb appeared, Sora had an idea. "That's it! Genie, I know what I want to wish for!"
"Well lay it on me, Sora!" Genie gleamed. Sora signaled him to come closer, which Genie did and whispered something to his ear. Everyone looked on in curiosity as Sora finished telling Genie his last wish.
"Can you do it?" Sora asked. Genie smirked and winked. "Oh please. When it comes to landscaping and giving makeovers, then I'm your guy!" With the snap of a finger, he was dressed in a landscaper's uniform with a blueprint of Las Noches. "Now let's see here, where the best place I can put this new spot." Genie flew around as Riku, Ichigo, and Orihime walked over to Sora.
"Hey Sora, what did you wish for?" Terra asked, curiously.
Sora merely smiled, "Just watch. Trust me, you're going to like this."
"I've found it!" Everyone snapped their heads towards Genie, who stood about 2000 meters away from them. Then, in a flash of purple smoke, a massive hole appeared that ranged from Genie's location to theirs (some nearly falling in due to the shock).
"Hey, what're you doing!" Lilynette exclaimed.
"Trust me little girl, I'm a professional." Genie happily assured. "Now first let's plug up these holes in the sky." He snapped his finger and the artificial sky was restored completely. "And now…" He removed his landscaping attire and switched it to one that resembled a rain dancer. "I bring thee…rain."
Genie then began performing what appeared to be a rain dance, moving around while waving his hands and doing a chant. Everyone except for Sora just looked at this in bewilderment.
"What the hell is he doing!?" Suì-Fēng asked, annoyed.
"It appears to be some form of rain dance." Uryū surmised but was skeptical.
"Impossible. There is no rain in Hueco Mundo." Ulquiorra said. However, upon those words, loud rumbling was heard as they looked up and to their shock…large storm clouds began to form all around the sky until it surrounded the inside of Las Noches. When the sky was finally obscured by the clouds, rain began to fall.
"What is this!?" Sung-Sun exclaimed.
"These are…rain drops!" Halibel confirmed.
"But that's impossible!" Grimmjow shouted.
"The only thing impossible for a Genie is impossibility…and three other things." Genie retorted, before changing to his usual attire. "Now…time for the magic to happen. Sora if you please."
Everyone looked at Sora, who was just as unsure as what to do. "Uh…do what exactly?"
"Give me a hand of course. And your friends can help." Genie called forth Lilynette, Halibel's Fracciónes, and Nel's Fracciónes and brought them next to Sora. "Just follow the beat and try to keep up."
Then, with the snap of a finger, a musical melody surrounded the air as Sora immediately realized what Genie intended to do.
(Puff the Magic Dragon Soundtrack-Weave Me the Sunshine)
"Alright everyone, let's bring some life to Las Noches!" Sora proudly declared before starting off.
Sora: Weave, Weave, Weave me the sunshine
out of the falling rain!
Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow
and fill my cup again!
As he sang, the rain began to fill up the hole Genie created until it began to slowly raise up high, filling it up. When it reached the top, the hole had become a sparkling blue lake that shined brightly, much to everyone's amazement.
Genie: Weave, Weave, Weave me the sunshine out of the falling rain!
Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow
and fill my cup again!
The lake was not the only surprise Genie had, as the raindrops began to fall on the sand surrounding it. When it did, grass began to sprout out from the ground and grew until it reached their feet. Aside from grass, flowers, bushes, and palm trees also began to sprout from the ground, with the trees even containing fruits that was unrecognizable.
Sora: Move the dust from castle towers!
Chorus: Shine on me again!
Genie: Wash them down with rainbow showers!
Chorus: Shine on MEEEE again!
Suddenly, small animal Hollows such as Lizards, Flies, Monkeys, Rabbits, Deers, and Kukkapūro popped out of the ground and began running along the newly grown field with curiosity and delight. Kukkapūro even began playing with some of the other animal Hollows.
Chorus/Pesche & Dondochakka: Weave, Weave, Weave me the sunshine out of the falling rain!
Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow
and fill my cup again!
Pesche and Dondochakka jumped around in joy as they joined the other animal Hollows, also releasing Bawabawa. A large rock formation then rose from the ground, forming a cliff that created a large waterfall, streaming all the way down at the lake.
Apacci, Mila Rose, Sung-Sun: Dragon flies on Dragon flowers!
Shine on me again!
Apacci and Mila Rose looked at the small Dragon Fly Hollows that buzzed around them, landing on their fingers. Meanwhile, Sung-Sun picked up some wildflowers and beamed happily as they smelled lovely. It was the first time they ever experienced something like this.
Lilynette: Sora's got back his magic powers!
Sora: Shine on MEEEEEEE again!
Lilynette smiled in delight as she stood next to Sora, watching all this happen. It was like she was experiencing the beauty of magic of this nature for the first time.
Chorus: Weave, Weave, Weave me the sunshine out of the falling rain!
Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow
and fill my cup again!
They began to sing as two more rock formations rose from the ground and stood on either side of the first one as two more waterfalls were formed and splashed down towards the lake, filling it up once and for all.
Genie: Break down the walls!
Tear down the fences!
Chorus: Shine on me again!
Fracciónes: Sora has brought us to our senses!
Shine on MEEEE again!
Genie completed his work by creating a poolside and diving board. With his work done, everyone witnessed what appeared to be an oasis right in front of them. Some could not deny that it was a beautiful and majestic sight.
Chorus: WEAVE, WEAVE, WEAVE me the sunshine
out of the falling rain!
Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow
and fill my cup again!
"And that's a wrap!" Genie said, ending the song as the music died down and the storm clouds cleared up and parted away. The false sun shined its rays as everyone now had a clear view of the new majestic oasis that Genie had constructed with his magic. The sparkling waters, the fresh vegetation, and the trees that bore large amounts of fruit.
Words could not express that they were all seeing.
"Well, what to you guys think!?" Sora asked the Arrancars gathered, seeing their reactions with a big grin on his face.
"You…what did you wish for?" Halibel asked.
"Well, since I'm gonna have to leave, I thought I'd at least make this a little paradise for you guys." Sora explained. "So I wished for Genie to build an Oasis that well last forever."
"And boy I must say that this is my greatest work yet." Genie cheered. "I welcome you all to your new dream home and I tell yah that it's got everything you need." Genie began showing them around the Oasis. "Dramatic views. Your very own porch swing. Hot tub and spa. Well stocked cupboard. And wait till you taste the fruit."
Sora pulled one fruit out and walked back to the Arrancars, holding it out. "Try it."
The Arrancars remained uncertain about this. Hollows didn't need to eat the same food as Humans, or to be more accurate, their immense hunger could not be sustained by normal food anymore. However, as Arrancars, they no longer needed to eat souls, but they never once considered indulging themselves with Human foods.
Curiously, Sung-Sun decided to be the first to taste this new fruit. She took the fruit out of Sora's hand and sniffed it first. It smelled differently compared to anything in Hueco Mundo. But since Sora went through all this trouble, she didn't want to refuse and took a big bite. No sooner when the fruit touched her taste buds, did Sung-Sun's eyes widen.
Halibel, Apacci, and Mila Rose instantly looked at their comrade with concern. "Sung-Sun, what's wrong!?"
"This is…delicious." Sung-Sun said with great delight. Seeing her reaction, the rest of the Arrancar followed her example and started eating some of the fruit. Like Sung-Sun, they were all shocked at the delicious flavor of these fruits. While Starrk, Ulquiorra, and Grimmjow didn't react as much, they also admitted that these strange fruits were satisfying. Nel, Pesche, Dondochakka, and Lilynette however, were overwhelmed by the sweetness of the fruit and sighed in joy. Gantenbainne, Apacci and Mila Rose reacted the same as Sung-Sun and enjoyed the rich juicy flavor. Unfortunately, Halibel could not eat it as her mouth was covered by her Hollow Mask and she did not want to waste the effort of entering her Resurrección. Though seeing everyone's reactions, she took their word for it that they were delicious and would try them at her own ledger.
Satisfied, Genie looked at Sora with a sad smile. "Well kid, it's been fun and all, but it's time for this Genie to head home."
Sora nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I expected as much. Thanks Genie, you've been a really big help."
"Hey don't mention." Genie said, hugging Sora. "Still though, if you ever need a hand, just let your ol' friend Genie know."
Sora smiled. "I will. Take care Genie. And tell Aladdin and Jasmine I said hi."
"Will do Sora." Genie saluted. "Until then, Genie over and out." With that, Genie disappeared in a puff. The Lamp Heartbinder went dim and then faded away, having used up all it's power. Sora sighed as he was already missing his friend, but Master Yen Sid placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, assuring him that everything is all right.
"Hey Sora!" Sora turned and saw most of his friends and the Soul Reaper lieutenants already in the oasis, happily trying out some of the new delicacies. The Captains and Vizards were joining in as well, needing a break from everything that's happened.
"C'mon, there's plenty for everyone!" Ichigo said.
"Come join us Sora!" Orihime happily called out.
"Hurry or you'll miss out." Riku teased.
"Yeah, I you guys!" Sora said as he laughter joyfully before entering the oasis, joining his friends in this light-hearted celebration. Despite all the past amnesty and strife that occurred through this whole war, he was happy that it was all over and he could finally spend time with his friends.
At least, while he was still here.
Another half hour had gone by and everyone was causally explored the new Oasis that Sora had Genie construct with his magic, giving their own opinions on the matter. Urahara and Mayuri were impressed to see that the djinn's magic was able to produce and sustain life in Hueco Mundo, something that should have been impossible. Or course, Mayuri was bummed that he was not able to experiment on the Genie but decided to order Nemu to salvage some of the fruit and vegetation, wanting to analyze their components later.
Everyone else was going about their usual business. Kyōraku, Ukitake, Lisa, and Starrk relaxed on some of the vine hammocks. The remaining Lieutenants and Fracciónes played around in the water, their pants rolled up to their knees. Yoruichi was sunbathing with Suì-Fēng spying on her from behind the bush, sighing in joy. Yen Sid, Yamamoto, and Isshin were discussing recent events that transpired throughout this battle, while the Head-Captain question Isshin from his past actions. The remaining Captains and Vizards roamed around the Oasis while Sora's and Ichigo's friends gathered once more, engaging in friendly conversation. However, Komamura had come up and asked for Orihime specifically.
Meanwhile, Sora watched as everyone was happily chatting or roaming among the Oasis with great interest. Before, everyone was at odds with each other. However, it seemed that their battle with Aizen was what brought them all together and he wanted this Oasis to help become the start of a new relation between the Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Vizards. He was happy to see that everyone was now getting along, having put their differences behind. He watched as Orihime went off with Komamura but before he could follow, he felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned around and saw that it was Halibel.
"Halibel." Sora said.
"Hello Sora." Halibel warmly greeted. "I noticed that you were not among your friends. So I came to ask why you are by yourself."
"No reason." Sora shrugged. "I just wanted some time to myself." Halibel nodded as the two stared off in silence for a few seconds, before Sora said, "Halibel, I'm sorry."
The Third Espada looked at Sora curiously. "What for?"
"For what happened. I heard what Aizen did to you." He clarified. She understood what he was referring to and said, "There is no need to apologize. I was the one who allowed myself to fall victim to Aizen."
Halibel's eyes became desolate as she continued. "When I first met Aizen, he told me that with the power of sacrifice, it will allow others to achieve many impossible things. I joined Aizen because I wanted to become strong enough to protect me subordinates. But instead I found that my only purpose had was to become a sacrificial sword for…him."
That was the first time Halibel ever referred to Aizen with great disgust. Sora could understand why she felt like that as he felt the same why about him.
"I'm the one who should sorry Sora." Halibel apologized. "You were right to betray Aizen. We all should have listened to your warnings."
"It's not your fault." Sora replied, before smiling. "I don't know what Aizen was going on about sacrifice being power or whatever. But I think he was totally wrong." Halibel looked as Sora continued. "If you sacrifice yourself, then you're obviously going to die. Even if you save your friends, think of how everyone is going to feel is you're dead. It'll just make them feel sad and hurt."
Sora thought back to when he willingly sacrificed himself to free Kairi's heart, turning himself into a Heartless in the process. While things ended well and Kairi's heart restored his humanity, he remembered how sad his friends were when they believed he was truly gone.
"Sure, I've been in a lot of battles, but I never fought because I thought I would die. I fought because I wanted to live and return to my friends." Sora said with determination. "Because I know that you don't die for your friends. You have to keep living for them and live on to see a brighter future together."
"Fight for others to live for others." Halibel echoed with amazement. As the Espada that bares the aspect of sacrifice, she always believed that sacrifice was in the nature of every being, and nothing could change that. But she never once considered fighting for the sake of others in order to prevent more sacrifices. She still did not know what it meant to fight for other people, but meeting Sora may have helped her gain more insight on it.
Halibel looked at Sora, with a small smile hidden behind her mask. "Perhaps it is you who has grown into a wise person." Sora chuckled as he placed his hands behind his head. "Thank you, Sora. For all that you have done for us."
The two shared a friendly laugh, until someone called Sora's name.
"Young Sora!" they looked to see Komamura who was walking over towards him.
"Captain Komamura." Sora said, surprised by his appearance. The wolf-captain looked down at Sora with an elevated. "Come with me. There is something I wish for you to see."
Curious at what Komamura wanted to show him, Sora went off with Halibel staying behind. It looked like it was something only meant between Sora and the Squad 7 Captain.
Sora followed Captain Komamura throughout the Oasis as he led him to what he wanted to show him.
"We are almost there." Komamura said. As they pass through some large bushes, Sora saw Shūhei standing next to Orihime, who was on her knees healing someone within her barrier.
"What happened!? Did someone get injured?" Sora asked, worried.
Komamura shook his head. "No, Sora. Quite the opposite, someone very dear was returned to us."
Sora looked more confused until he got a closer look at the person inside the orange barrier, nearly causing him to fall over in surprise. Why? Because the person inside the barrier was none other than Kaname Tōsen, who was now completely restored.
"Kaname!" Sora gaped in shock. "He's…alive! But how!?"
"You have Orihime Inoue to thank." Komamura gestured to Orihime, who smiled softly and nodded.
"When he arrived in Hueco Mundo, we also noticed that what remained of Captain Tōsen's body was brought along with us." Shūhei revealed.
"I hid Kaname's body to keep it safe from the Hollows." Komamura took over. "Once everything had been settled, I continued to hold on to Kaname's body, hoping to give it a proper burial when we returned to the Soul Society."
Sora understood what they were saying, but something still didn't add up. "I get how he ended up here. But that still doesn't explain how Orihime was still able to fix him. Half of his body blew up."
"It wasn't the first time I've healed someone who lost half their body." Orihime said, recalling the time she restored Menoly, who's top body had been blown up by Grimmjow. "When they showed me what happened to Captain Tōsen, I offered to help heal him. And I'm happy I was able to help." She then deactivated her barrier, her work now done.
"Captain Tōsen!" Shūhei kneeled as he held his former captain. "Captain Tōsen, are you okay?"
When Tōsen did not respond, Sora and Shūhei began to fear the worst. Fortunately, Komamura placed his fingers next to Tōsen's neck and felt a pulse, sighing in relief. "Don't worry. Kaname is only unconscious, but he will live."
"That's good to hear." Sora said, happy that Tōsen was alive. "Thank you Orihime."
Orihime returned the smile. "You're welcome Sora."
"Sora!" Everyone turned to see Mickey, Rukia, and Renji running towards.
"Your Majesty." Sora said.
"Rukia! Renji!" Orihime called.
"Is something the matter?" Komamura asked, noticing their expression.
"It's nothing dangerous." Mickey said. "But just now, a few people from the Soul Society came over."
"It was Lieutenant Sasakibe and twelve people from the Stealth Force: Detention Unit." Rukia explained. "They wish to speak to the Head-Captain."
"We figure it must have something to do with Aizen." Renji stated. "C'mon. Let's go get a look at what's happening."
Wanting to see what was occurring, the others followed suit, leaving the unconscious body of Tōsen behind.
They arrived at the entrance of the Oasis to see Sora and Ichigo's group, Yen Sid, Urahara, Isshin, and Yamamoto speaking with Chōjirō and a number of Stealth Forces officers standing behind him.
"Head-Captain Yamamoto, I am relieved to see that you are in good health." Chōjirō humbly said.
"Aside from my arm, I am in fine health." Yamamoto said, before getting to the point. "Now then, to what do we owe this visit?"
The Squad 1 Lieutenant nodded. "Earlier, Squad 12 reported that the Tenkai Kecchu was undone and Karakura Town was returned to its rightful location."
Isshin sighed in relief. "I see. That's good to hear. And what about Ichigo's friends?"
"Officer Kurumadani informed us of the situation. Their memories will not be altered." Chōjirō said, before looking at Ichigo. "However, Central 46 will hold you responsible for them."
"Don't worry. My friends know how to keep a secret." Ichigo said but looked uncomfortable. "Well…I guess Don Kanonji is another story."
"And what of Aizen?" Urahara asked. "Is he still in the barrier?"
"Yes, and he currently in Squad 1's barracks under heavy guard." The old lieutenant informed. "Once you have freed him from the seal, we will have him restrained of his spirit energy and face trial of the new Central 46."
"So I new judicial authority was chosen for the Soul Society." Yen Sid realized. "Now then, is there anything else you wish to inform us?"
"Just one more thing." A Stealth Force officer replied. "Under orders of Central 46, we are here to apprehend the two fugitives who conspired with Sōsuke Aizen and betrayed the Soul Society. Former Captain of Squad 3: Gin Ichimaru. And former Captain of Squad 9: Kaname Tōsen."
"Guess it was just about time." They turned to see Gin walking over to them, with Rangiku walking by his side.
"It's him!"
"Gin Ichimaru!"
"Don't let your guard down men!"
The Detention Unit took a fighting stance as they prepared for what the former Squad 3 Captain had planned. However, Gin let go of Rangiku and walked forward, his grin never leaving his face. He did not even reach for his Zanpakutō and held both of his hands high.
"Don't waste your breaths. I don't plan on causing a ruckus or anything." Gin confessed truthfully, which was rare.
"Hold on!" Uryū called. "You don't mean…"
Starrk knew what Gin was doing. "You're really going to turn yourself in?"
"Gin!" Rangiku gasped in shock, as were some of the spectators. Hiding behind a palm tree, Izuru's was wide eyed at what he was seeing.
"Gin, why are you doing this!?" Sora asked, confused at his actions.
"You already know that my only purpose was to kill Aizen." Gin said. "I had no plans on what to do afterwards. So, I decided that if it couldn't be helped, I'd turn myself in. Of course, I planned on showing Aizen's head in exchange for a lighter sentence."
"But you just said that you wanted to kill Aizen from the start." Rangiku pleaded. "Doesn't that count for anything."
"Unfortunately, regardless of his motives, he still betrayed the Soul Society and conspired with Aizen." Yamamoto stated. "One sense of righteousness does not outweigh his other atrocities."
"But still…" Kairi did not like where this was going. She turned to the old sorcerer. "…Master Yen Sid, isn't there anything you can do."
Yen Sid closed his eyes. "Regrettably, the laws of the Soul Society are beyond my own jurisdiction."
"But you convinced them to let his fight in this battle." Ven tried to reason. "Surely there's more you can do."
"It was only because the Head-Captain gave the okay." Urahara explained. "When Aizen killed the original Central 46, Yamamoto filled in as a substitute for making big decisions. Otherwise, I doubt they would've allowed you guys to fight in the first place."
"Meaning there really is nothing we can do." Mickey sadly said. Sora and Rangiku could not accept this, especially the latter. After all this time, she had finally amended things with Gin, the person she initially tried so hard to forget. But now…he was going to be taken away from her.
"Don't look so surprised." Rangiku saw Gin addressing her. "After all I've done, it'd be foolish to think that I was going to get a Hollywood ending."
Rangiku looked away, gnashing her teeth in frustration. Gin still smiled as he said, "I remember that face. You used to make that face everything I had to leave. You'd often pout, and I'd just laugh and walk away." He chuckled to himself as Rangiku still looked away. "But I think you turned out better than before. I mean, you've become more independent and began relying on your own judgment."
"Well, I needed to learn how to stand on my own." She replied, her expression softening. "And I knew there might come a day when you weren't going to be around ever again."
"Perhaps. But today isn't that day." Gin said as Rangiku looked back at him, where she gasped in shock. Unlike before, his usual creepy grin was replaced by a heartwarming one, something she hadn't seen in a long time.
"Don't know what'll happen, but…promise that you'll still visit." Gin said.
"I will." Rangiku nodded, as tears began forming in her eyes.
Gin nodded back. "Good. Because that would be…"
"…the best day ever." She finished. "You have a lot of those, don't you?"
"No. Just one. September 29." Gin corrected. Rangiku's expression became surprised as she remember that specific day. It was the day they first met when they were children. As far as she remembered, she never had an official birthday because she never counted the days before they met. So Gin decided that the day they met would forever be her birthday. Since then, that day always became special for her.
Rangiku's lips quivered as she felt her tears about to burst. However, she felt Kairi and Orihime's hands holding her own. She saw the comforting expressions they had and could no longer fight back as she embraced both of them, crying on their shoulders. The two girls said nothing as they returned the embrace, allowing Rangiku to let her feelings out. Sora and Ichigo wanted to say something, but Riku and Rukia stopped them and shook their heads, telling them now wasn't the right time.
After a few minutes, Rangiku finally calmed down and everyone watched as Gin's hands were in restraints as two Stealth Force members lead him to the Garganta, another member holding his Zanpakutō that they confiscated. Behind them, two other members carried the unconscious Tōsen on a stretcher as they confiscated his Zanpakutō.
Shūhei looked on in sorrow as his former captain was being taken away. "Captain Tōsen." He said, despondent at his detainment. The Squad 9 Lieutenant felt Komamura place a hand on his shoulder, as he too was disappointed to see his best friend having been taken away.
"I know it hurts, but we will not let him suffer alone any longer." Komamura said. "I vowed that I would see that the man who killed his friend be brought to justice, and I will make certain that he will."
Shūhei nodded as he also looked at his Zanpakutō, his eyes narrowing in determination. "And I vow to work hard and continue my training to grow stronger. Then, I will become the next Captain of Squad 9, where I can live up to the expectations Captain Tōsen held for me."
The wolf-captain smiled proudly at the words of the lieutenant, seeing the strong resolve he holds. "And I'm certain you will. But do not feel too disappointed. As I believe that we will see Kaname again, now a free man." Shūhei nodded as he felt the same way.
Chōjirō followed the Stealth Force members but turned back to his Head-Captain. "Head-Captain. Will you be joining us."
"In a moment." Yamamoto said. "I will gather the remaining officers. Return to the Soul Society and tend to everything else."
Chōjirō nodded and walked into the Garganta as the Detainment Unit lead Gin past Sora, Ichigo, and their friends, which caused Gin to abruptly stop. The two Stealth Force operatives looked back at him.
"Why have you stopped?"
"Keep moving? You're only delaying the inevitable!"
"I said that I had no plans on fighting back." Gin assured them. "But I just want to say somethings to my new pals over here. If that's not too much trouble."
They looked at Yamamoto, who nodded to assure them that it was alright. "You have five minutes." Gin nodded as turned to Sora.
"Hey Sora, Ichigo" Gin said, and the next thing he did shocked them greatly. His eyes were now fully opened, and he gave them a friendly smile, in contrast to his bone-chilling expression. "Take care of yourselves, okay."
Sora happily nodded. "Will do." Ichigo looked uncomfortable for a moment but did the same. Aside from the way he creeped him out, Gin didn't really seem like a bad guy after all.
Gin then looked at the tree Izuru was hiding behind. He already knew he was there, but rather than call him out, he merely said, "Goodbye Izuru. I'm glad to have seen that you've been doing alright for yourself."
Before Gin could walk away, Izuru stepped out from behind the tree. "CAPTAIN!" He shouted. Everyone turned as Izuru panted from his outburst, then said, "WHY!? Why didn't you tell me that you wanted to kill Aizen!? If I had known what you really wanted, I could have…"
"What's done is done, Izuru." Gin said, kindly. "But I'm glad everything ended alright." He then turned around and walked away. "Much like Rangiku, I'm glad that you have become able to stand on your own. Just keep growing stronger…so that you can lead Squad 3 one day."
Izuru gasped in surprise as Gin was prepared to be taken away. However…
"Gin!" Everyone turned to see Momo walking towards him, with Hitsugaya remaining from behind. They were curious as to what she was planning to do while Rangiku, Shūhei, and Izuru tensed up as they remembered when they believed Aizen had died, Momo suspected Gin as the culprit and charged at him in blind fury.
Gin, however, was not concerned as he faced her. "Yes." He asked when Momo stopped right in front of him. She looked right into his face and, unlike last time, Momo held an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry." She bowed, much to his confusion. "When Aizen betrayed the Soul Society, I spent a long time trying to convince myself that he was never evil. That somehow…you were the one responsible for everything he did. But I shouldn't have let my own feeling cloud my own decision…not when the truth was right in front of me."
Momo stood up and continued. "Ever since I was promoted to Lieutenant of Squad 5, I devoted my entire life to Aizen. He was my entire world and I wanted to anything for him because…I loved him."
While this was a stab to the heart to Hitsugaya, he only blamed Aizen as he purposely manipulated her to becoming his unwilling pawn. This made him hate Aizen even more. However, what he and Rangiku noticed was that Momo called him Aizen and not 'Captain' Aizen like before. This was evident that Aizen's hold on Momo was finally severed.
"I thought that I had come to accept Aizen as the enemy, but I was only trying to convince everyone instead of myself." Momo said. "I felt that serving Aizen was my entire purpose as a Soul Reaper and that if I couldn't do that, then what was I fighting for?" She looked at Gin. "But now…when I saw Aizen sealed away, I wasn't devasted anymore. Instead, I feel like I've woken up and everything around me has become clearer. I misjudged you, Captain Ichimaru. Please forgive me."
Renji, Izuru, and Rangiku smiled in joy as they could now see that their friend was now finally free from that bastard's control.
"Don't worry about it." Gin said. "But you should really be thanking Sora and Ichigo. They're the real heroes after all."
"You're right." Momo said with a nod. She then smiled as she bowed at the two boys. "Thank you, Sora, and Ichigo Kurosaki. For everything."
The two boys nodded, accepting the gratitude.
"Alright. It's time to leave." The Stealth Force members said. With nothing left to be said, Gin waved to everybody. "Bye-Bye." He called, waving as the Detention Unit escorted him and Tōsen into the Garganta. With that, the Garganta closed, Gin and Tōsen now vanished from their sights.
Izuru did not stop staring at the place where the Garganta disappeared as a lone tear fell from his face. It was sad to admit it but now…Gin was gone. He couldn't stop feeling guilty for all the amnesty and resentment he held for his former captain. He thought he hated Gin with every fiber of his being, but his anger turned out to be unfounded as he was the one who misjudged his captain. His actions were clear, Gin truly did care the entire time. Maybe, if he had soon the kind of independence Gin wanted him to learn earlier, then he could have…
"Don't beat yourself over it." Izuru flinched as Rangiku appeared beside her, having suspected what he was thinking. "He's always been doing this, ever since we were little. Doing things on his own, shouldering everyone's burden." She said gently as a smile appeared on her face. "That's just the kind of man he is."
"And it's not like you guys are never going to see him again." The two lieutenants turned to Sora, who overheard their conversation. "A while ago, a good friend of mine told me that there is nothing special than being reunited with the one you love most." He declared, smiling. "I bet Gin's already counting down the days till he can see you again."
Rangiku was surprised by the statement but looked at Sora gratefully. "You're right. Thank you, Sora." She said in gratitude. Izuru nodded as he began to feel hopeful once more. Though he could not do much for Gin anymore, he vowed to live up to his expectations…and succeed him in becoming Captain of Squad 3.
"Well, now that that's outta the way, we should probably be going home now." Urahara said as he, Yen Sid, Sora and Ichigo's group walked over. Yamamoto, Isshin, and Komamura had left to gather the other Soul Reaper officers.
"Do you guys really have to leave?" Apacci said, disappointed.
"Unfortunately, we do." Xion said, looking sad.
"After all, we're not needed here anymore." Isa stated. Halibel nodded in understanding. "Yes, you all have your respective worlds to return to."
"And we came here to find Sora and Kairi." Mickey said, looking happy. "I'm happy that everything worked out well in the end."
Yen Sid nodded. "Though the battle was long and perilous, your strong hearts are what truly won this battle."
"Yeah. We're already proof enough." Goofy proclaimed.
"We're a team." Donald said. "When we're together, nothing can stop us."
"You're not wrong about that duck." Renji smirked in agreement.
"But after out battle with the Espada, we should use this experience to become stronger." Rukia advised them.
"She is correct." Ulquiorra agreed. "You never know when an even more powerful enemy will return."
Grimmjow snorted. "If that happens, I'll rip their guts apart."
"And you'll underestimate you're enemy and get defeated once more." Nel teased. "Perhaps your mind is as feral as your appearance."
"WHAT!" The Sixth Espada roared as Pesche and Dondochakka laughed at Grimmjow expense. Sora joined in on the laughter, then settled down as he looked at all his Arrancar friends. "I'll admit, things were rough in the beginning, but I'm glad I came here. Because I was able to make friends with all you guys."
Starrk nodded in approval. "I guess there's always a silver lining in these situations." He then smirked. "I'll admit that it feels nice…having found something to fight for." Lilynette looked proudly at Starrk, finally relieved that her other half found the right motivation that she wanted him to get. Then again, Sora was just the person who you wanted to protect and be around.
"I never thought I'd call a human my own friend." Sung-Sun said, before lowering her sleeve, revealing her warm smile. "But you have shown me kindness humans are capable of showing."
"Same here." Apacci said with a grin. "You're the only man I'll ever hang around with."
"And you're friends are just as brave and noble as you are." Mila Rosa said, causing Lea, Ven, Roxas, and Donald to feel good about themselves.
"What are you talking about?" Sora said. "They're you're friends to now."
"He's right." Aqua said, looking at Halibel. "I know we had our differences, but now that this war is over, I hope that we can all start over once more."
Halibel looked hesitant for a moment, but then nodded and shook Aqua's hand. "I feel the same. You are a talented and wise fighter. I hope a day will come when we can fight as one."
"I'm sure it might happen one day." Terra said.
"Just try not to get yourselves caught." Grimmjow gestured to Orihime and Kairi. The redhead grinned. "Don't worry. I plan on getting stronger so that I can fight alongside my own friends again."
"And I plan on perfecting the power of Shun Shun Rikka to it's fullest potential." Orihime declared with determination. "So that next time, I can fight alongside everyone…as equals."
Orihime's friends looked proud at the determination she was showing. It seems that her time in Hueco Mundo helped her gain resolve in her own power, growing more mature. They were proud of her.
Ichigo nodded and stepped towards Orihime. "Don't sell yourself so short Orihime. After all, you've given me more strength than you know. Especially at times when I really needed it."
The orange-haired girl blushed brightly. "Oh well…I'm glad I could help you." She and Ichigo continued to look at each other, much like when Ichigo defeated Grimmjow the first time. After everything that happened, with battling Ulquiorra, Yammy, the Fake Karakura Town battles, and finally Aizen himself, they were relieved that they could finally return home together.
However…Ichigo suddenly fell to the ground with wide and pained filled eyes.
"Ichigo!" Everyone shouted as they ran to Ichigo's aid.
"Ichigo! Are you alright!?" Chad yelled.
"What's going on?!" Rukia shouted. "Ichigo, talk to me!"
"What the hell just happened?!" Lea asked.
"C'mon already!" Grimmjow roared. "Pull it together!"
"Look at me! Look at me!" Nel pleaded. To their horror, Ichigo started to gasp for air and filled everyone's ears with a screech of pain as his friends looked at him with apprehension.
"Ichigo, are you ok?!" Orihime asked worried.
"Ichigo, can you talk?!" Renji exclaimed. "Open your eyes!"
The healing experts quickly stepped forward and waved their Keyblades, doing whatever he could to get Ichigo to wake up. Riku, Rukia, Naminé, and Ulquiorra looked and saw that Sora, Urahara, and Yen Sid were the only ones who looked unsurprising at this.
"Sora, Master Yen Sid, what's happening to Ichigo?" Riku asked.
"Mr. Urahara, do you also know what's happening to Ichigo?" Naminé asked Kisuke.
"Don't lie to us." Ulquiorra said, monotonously. "We are already aware that you know more than you let on."
"If you do know, please tell us." Rukia said. "Is he going to be alright?"
Yen Sid looked at Urahara, who closed his eyes for a moment. He could tell them nothing, but knew that with Ichigo's condition and events that will follow, they will find answers sooner than later. He opened his eyes and prepared to tell them about the price that Ichigo paid for using the Final Getsuga Tenshō. Meanwhile, Sora looked at Ichigo's condition and felt sympathetic for the fact that he surrendered all his powers. As he continued to look, he began to ask himself…what would happen when it was time for him to pay the price.
Kairi looked at Sora's expression and saw hints of sorrow and apprehension, which was not directed at Ichigo. She immediately knew that something was wrong with Sora and wonder how much of an impact it will have.
To Be Continued…
A/N: Another chapter has been finished. As I said before, this chapter solely focused on the final outcome of the battle and the aftermath that followed afterwards. One thing I admit though is that I never had to focus on this many characters gathered together before, but I believe I did good. And as you saw, Baraggan, Tosen, and Gin are still alive but the former king is now in exile while the two former Soul Reapers were arrested for their treason. However, you have not seen the last of them as they will return in the sequel.
As for this chapter, I know in my previous one I said that it would include the explanation on what price Sora had to pay but I decided to save that revelation for the next chapter. However, I'm sure those of you who have played Kingdom Hearts III and seen the ending already know what it is. Aside from the climax against Aizen, while not much happened in this chapter, I compensated by including Sora's last wish to create an Oasis in Las Noches.
As for the song used, it was featured in the 1978 TV Special "Puff the Magic Dragon," based on the original song by the folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary. I wanted to do something different when creating the oasis then just a simple linear narrative and this popped into my head. I also watched Puff the Magic Dragon at a school that I was substituting at earlier this month, which also helped to inspire me. Of course, I changed a few words from the lyrics to better match this story.
Well, I'm glad I was able to finally finish this chapter. It was a good reliever after having finished going through finals at my university. I'm also looking forward to Christmas coming up in a few days. Anyways, the next chapter will focus on the victory celebration before the final chapter of this story. I hope to finish it before the new year but nothing is guaranteed. Look forward to what I have planned.
Next Time: The war had been won and Aizen has been defeated. To celebrate, the Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Keyblade Wielders throw a beach party on the Destiny Islands. Please Review, don't flame, and Happy Holidays.
Review Time:
NinjaFang1331: And happy you liked my chapter.
Khy Dragon: I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disappoint you. I have to stay close to the canon. But don't fret, we know nothing bad will happen to Sora.
Leafeon12: Yeah, I wanted to make it more clear that Ichigo had no regrets in his final decision to sacrifice his powers to defeat Aizen. As for Sora, you'll find out in the next chapter.
Guest: I won't confirm or deny anything until the sequel has been posted. But I will say you are closer in your assumption. ;)
Boi: The sequel won't be out for a long while, at least until we get something on the next Kingdom Hearts installment. As for when Aizen is released, they will be surprised and outraged at Kyoraku's decision but begrudgingly accept that Aizen's help will be needed in the 1000 Year War.
tigerdancer21: Yeah, you're right that I will end it with Reconnect: Kingdom Hearts. I don't know when I'll post the sequel, it take a long time. I'm still waiting on the next Kingdom Hearts installment to shed some light on how Sora returns. I don't know about the whole Data Sora idea, I probably won't use it. As the bacteria, no it's going to be removed by the next chapter. Besides, even if it wasn't removed, it wouldn't be able to detect Sora's whereabouts when he vanishes. The surveillance bacteria only covers a limited range and past it's world or dimensional borders is beyond it's reach. I still haven't planned anything for the sequel, but I'll take those Triad Summons into consideration.
Guest: While I haven't planned how the sequel will go down, I only intended for Sora to be a new war power and calling the group the 6 Special War Powers. Aside from his connection to Kalgara, he will also be labeled a war power because of his charisma. As Goofy said, Sora just has that gift to make friends with just about anybody, and in this story his kindness and strong helped lead many Arrancars to betray Aizen and join his side.
Guest: The next chapter will center around the beach, so who knows.
Antex-The Legendary Zoroark: Thank You. Hope you like what I have in store.
Hotstreak's crossover stories: Yeah, but he's a prideful man. Being the Head-Captain for a thousand years will do that to some people. Sora did give into despair for that moment, but Kalgara was responsible for keeping his Heartless back. No, he can still use his Keyblade. As annoying as he is, Mayuri's not worth the effort. They did make a fuss, but the Head-Captain is the only one who can calm Kenpachi's bloodlust. That's just how Sui-Feng is, of course she still has some feelings underneath that cold heart of her's.
Guest: Thanks for the tip and I'm really liking their designs.
ahurtrojo1: I haven't watched Fate/Stay Night so I don't think I'll make a story about that. But thinks for the offer though.
nickjudy72: Unfortunately, he already used up his final wish. But don't worry, Sora's new friends will have a way to have their beach party at the Destiny Islands. Also, Tatsuki's not the type of girl who'll be that smitten by some attractive male. She's too much of a tomboy after all.
Taromaru: I'm glad you liked everything I included in that chapter. I'll admit that it was even hard for me to have Aizen beat Sora mercilessly but I had to remember that not even Sora would be spared by Aizen's cruelty. You're right to what I have planned for Sora in the end, but don't worry, he won't be alone in the end. Yeah, I do plan to include the Arrancars for the sequel. While they'll remain in Hueco Mundo, Starrk, Lilynette, and Ulquiorra will have other plans. Don't be afraid to ask too many question. I'll always make time to answer as much as I can.
Guest: I already have an idea for Xion's new Keyblade, thanks to the help of a Fanfiction Author who PM'd me about it. Unfortunately, those Keyblades are taken an I don't have a Deviantart account to speak with those publisher if I could use their Keyblade designs. As much as I would like to include them, I need to learn more from the next Kingdom Hearts installment to see if they would give insight about the Dandelions. I'm going to keep my lips sealed about Kalgara until the sequel happens. Don't worry, I plan on giving them those designs in the sequel, along with how the other Keyblade Wielders will look after two years.
Sliverking619: I'm glad you like how I planned out the final battle with Aizen. In this story, they don't have their Keyblade armor, but I plan to give them that in the sequel. As for Aizen was taken down, Ichigo doesn't have a merged Hollow form, but he unintentionally combined his Getsuga Tensho with a Gran Rey Cero, which he will master during his battle with Yhwach. Don't worry, there will be more interactions between Sora's friends and Ichigo's friends in the next chapter. There will also be plenty of events for Sora to display his cooking and dancing skills. I might do a separate story like that in the future.
As for Re:Mind, I'm aware that it will change somethings that will happen after the ending of the game. However, this is an AU fanfic so it doesn't mean I will have to change things again. The only thing I will include is Riku departing for Radiant Garden, at least, according to the source material. Speaking of Re:Mind, I was absolutely mind blown by everything that the trailer displayed. First, I'm happy that they brought back the Final Fantasy cast for this new story (their absence was one of my major complaints). Plus the other gameplay left me speechless, such as the Guardians of Light vs the 13 Xehanort clones, a new story featured in the Final World, with Kairi now playable, and finally the new battle with the 13 Seekers of Darkness. I'm only bummed that the DLC for Xbox One will come near the end of February, but I can wait.
