Randumb-FanGirl: Its pretty much a supernatural-genre au where Astral and 96 are ghosts haunting a house together. I just have this image of 96 being a more unstable- i.e. dangerous-ghost But who only scares away humans because he wants to protect Astral, whom he's been dating since before they died together.
I feel like I've done this one before but idk, here we go again. I just gotta go down the list of requests ;P
Feral teeth bared at the doorway, eyes glowing brightly with a malice that should not be mistaken for curiosity. Kaito is the nearest corner, clutching his side with a hand as he realized that the poltergeist before him is no joke. He came out of the floorboards like ink, clawing at the wood with a ferocity that made him extremely easy to hit but hard to get away from. It was like attacking a grizzly bear.
Behind him is something else. Though the hunter cannot say that it's not as dangerous, it stays behind in a blue haze. Sweet yellow eyes are looking him over in comparison to the heterochromatic irises that tried to dig through his own soul.
Slender fingers reached out from the floating ghost, tapping gingerly on the shoulder of the snarling poltergeist who whipped around. Not even once did he snap his jaws but, instead, his face softened considerably. His pupils dilated, his eyes seemed to glow with warmth and his claws faded away with a whisper that was like white noise.
For a while all is silent. Kaito's breath is the only noise that is filtering through. There's no wind outside of the house, no rattle of the cold windows- Nothing but his gasps as he takes in several breaths against the pain in his ribs, that of which would surely blossom into a dark bruise that would take hours to explain to Ryoga.
As he focused on trying to sit upright, there's a gentle hand guiding his chin upwards and his breath stopped.
"Can I see it? You're hurt." Despite the fight he had given to the dark entity, this blue-tinted beauty was deciding to give him the time of day to ask him if he was okay after getting slapped around like a raggedy-ann doll. Proper words left his mouth as warm hands trail to lift up his shirt a little and move his hand to see exactly what he thought he would; a dark bruise that spread over his pale skin. It was only going to get worse from here.
A whine chimed through the air.
"Astral, do you have to touch him so blatantly in front of me?"
Said entity turned to look at his lover, a small smile on his face. "My love, are you jealous of my distributed care?"
"Yes."
Kaito blinked, not sure how he wanted to take this conversation at all. He was here to hunt them, to cleanse and banish these demons back to wherever they had come from. Yet here they were, talking as if they had nowhere else to go and that they were lovers. It was documented that the house had lovers but these were the kind that he had been expecting with their elfish ears and their Yin-Yang match up. And one of them was jealous of him?
Coming back to his senses, he grabbed at Astral's wrists, pulling him sharply forward. There's barely a gasp from the pale entity's lips as he was pulled to a kneel beside the hunter. Once again, Dark Mist's growling was permeating the air, letting the heavy noise of warning carry through.
"I'm not going to bargain," Kaito spat, "with two ghosts who have no reason to be on this surface!"
Astral pleaded. "Please, we're here because we are happy-"
"That's not enough," Kaito hissed, looking up finally at Astral. Despite the tight grip he held, Astral's face was still soft.
"Please."
There was pure sincerity still hanging in from Astral's lips. There was no malice, no anger and no desperation. He was as calm as he could be in front of a ruthless hunter and still held this sweetness to his very being. He was calm, patient-
Why was he so patient?
The much more ferocious entity was beginning to lose his patience. "Let him go before I hang your entrails out to dry on the rooftops! That'll be a nice Christmas decoration, don'tcha think?"
"Dark Mist!" Now Astral's expression changed but only slightly. His exasperation was mild but was noticeable through the knitting of his brow. "Please."
The poltergeist huffed but seemed to listen but he didn't lower a fighting stance. Even as Kaito finally sighed and loosened his grip, neither of them moved.
"If I hear any horror stories about two poltergeists in this house, I will burn this entire place down." Though his eyes and tongue were as sharp as his wit, the words were enough to make Astral physically relax and sigh in relief. Kaito didn't understand it but he finally let go of Astral. And just like that, Astral openly tended to his wounds.
Two hours went by and the two undead shared a quick kiss on a dilapidated couch.
"How are you feeling?" Astral asked. Dark Mist immediately huffed.
"Don't let anyone else touch you like that," he muttered bitterly, taking one of Astral's hands and kissing his wrists. "We're already dead. Having someone hurt us even more in the afterlife is a shit thing to do."
Two pale hands gently encompassed the other's face lovingly, thumbs running along his cheekbones until Mist closed his eyes. "I know, my love. I know. But I have you. I'm never hurt when I'm with you."
Mist chuckled and opened an eye slightly, a smile curling up on his mouth. "Flattering me?"
"No, I'm being serious."
"Can we seal the deal then?"
Astral rolled his eyes. He was usually oblivious to such a term but after being around his boyfriend for so long, he complied by softly letting their lips meet.
Once more a quiet night took over as they faded into a resting spot on the couch, fully content and fully warm-hearted.
