Chapter 29: Overseer
K-423 led Jotaro through the streets of this highly advanced city.
There didn't seem to be any living being besides themselves present. Delivery crates guarded by robots for unknown reasons were the norm in this place.
Jotaro continued to keep Star Platinum ready for combat in case of any potential attacks.
They entered a huge ship that was parked on the runway.
The interior of the ship was filled with countless of machineries. Cylinders filled with watery substances filled the corridor.
They soon reached a door. K-423 touched a fingerprint scanner, identifying her before opening.
They entered the room and a specific cylinder caught Jotaro's eyes.
Inside the cylinder was a person with red hair. On his forehead was a red letter that read 'Love'.
He had a giant calabash-shaped gourd covered in designs on his back.
'Who's that?' Jotaro questioned.
'Someone uninvited. I was out gathering allies when he interrupted me and chased me down.' She replied.
Jotaro narrowed his eyes. He didn't trust her completely.
They continued to the end of the corridor and at the end, there was a person sitting on a nicely decorated chair.
The person had long crimson hair, green eyes, and a slender body. He wore a buttoned up white overcoat that extended to his ankles. His white boots had a spike protruding out from the tip.
Jotaro stared at him, feeling uneasy about the situation.
'Would you like to work with us?' The person, whom Jotaro assumed to be the Overseer, asked.
Jotaro was slightly shocked. He thought that the Overseer would at least introduce himself first.
'I don't have see a reason to.' Jotaro responded coldly.
K-423 walked in front of him with a smile.
'If you work with us, we can make your dreams come true~' She said.
Jotaro doubted they could. That was because the one priority he had right now was beating DIO. They most definitely couldn't defeat him without Stands.
He and his friends were so close to reaching DIO when the black hole appeared, transporting them to this new world.
Jotaro also had no idea exactly how many days had past. He was running out of time to save his mother.
'Sorry, but I refuse.' Jotaro said before turning away.
His Stand suddenly moved without his permission. He knew what this meant. He was being attacked.
He quickly dodged to the side, dodging a kick from K-423.
'If you don't work with us, then I'm afraid we'll have to silence you.'
'...' Jotaro didn't reply to K-423's words.
He understood why they did it. He was now aware of their base. If he didn't work with them and they allowed him to leave, their secrets could be leaked.
In fact, Jotaro was more inclined to believe that the person he saw previously decided not to work with them as well.
K-423 tried smacking Jotaro with her guns but he managed to block them all with Star Platinum.
Getting irritated, she began moving faster than the eye could see. Granted, that was a pretty smart move if he was merely using telekinesis since he would be unable to react in time.
However, Star Platinum most definitely could track her movements.
'Tch!' K-423 clicked her tongue when she realised Jotaro was still capable of defending himself.
She began teleporting behind him in hopes of taking him by surprise. However, she didn't expect that Star Platinum was still able to block, albeit with more effort.
'Star Platinum!' Jotaro roared.
'ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!' Star Platinum let out his signature battlecry as he sent a flurry of punches K-423's way.
She flew into a wall, creating an audible thud.
However, contrary to Jotaro's expectations, she managed to get on her feet. She seemed perfectly alright with the exception of a few bruises on her person.
'Argh…' She grunted. She began a spraying Jotaro with bullets.
Jotaro, like before, didn't bother to move as Star Platinum could catch all the bullets. Or so he thought.
As the bullet spray continued, Star Platinum began to have troubles catching the bullets and had to resort to redirecting them, cutting Jotaro's cheek.
'Grk!'
'Ooo~' K-423 came to the realisation of Jotaro's limits and smirk. She continued the pressure on Jotaro.
Realising his mistake, he began backing up, giving Star Platinum more time to react.
K-423 closed the gap in a swift jump however, unwilling to let up the pressure.
Star Platinum roared as it began to throw the bullets back when Jotaro jumped out of K-423's line of sight.
K-423 performed back-flips to dodge and in that same motion, dropped her gun.
'Neko…!' She cocked her entire body back.
'Charm!' She thrust her hand forward, creating an orange ring where a mechanical cat arm erupted from.
Jotaro's gasped as it slammed him into the wall. Fortunately for him, he was able to absorb the damage using Star Platinum.
'Enough.' The Overseer spoke as K-423 and Jotaro assumed battle stances.
'There is no need to fight, is there?' He asked.
'He knows about our base-'
'But not the location, yes?' The Overseer interrupted K-423. She reluctantly nodded.
'That being said, I am rather curious about your abilities, Jotaro.' Jotaro ignored the Overseer's gaze.
The Overseer chuckled.
'Stands, was it?' Jotaro widened his eyes.
'How do you know?'
'We have Polnareff working with us, remember?' The Overseer said monotonously.
Jotaro regained his neutral expression, not wanting to let his emotions show.
'Where is he?' He asked. The Overseer snapped his fingers, and the door behind him opened.
A figure walked out. He had silver hair and wore a black vest and black pants. It was Polnareff.
'Polnareff.' Jotaro called out. However, there was no response. In fact, it didn't even look like he could speak as red marks appeared all around his mouth down to his throat.
'What did you do to him?!' Jotaro let out a uncharacteristic shout.
'Oh. I merely made him unable to leak any information after he told me everything.' The Overseer smiled as he explained.
Jotaro clenched his fist.
'Star Platinum!' Star Platinum appeared as he ran towards the Overseer.
'K-423.' The Overseer ordered. K-423 smirked as she dashed towards Jotaro.
'Star Finger!' Star Platinum simultaneously ejected its index and middle fingers on both hands. Its left struck K-423 in the solar plexus while its right went for the Overseer's head.
The Overseer quickly waved his hand, resulting in a blue circle appearing.
A wall of ice quickly formed. Star Platinum broke about halfway through before stopping.
K-423 regained her footing and shot at Jotaro, forcing him to roll away.
'Polnareff! Fight!' Jotaro yelled. However, Polnareff showed no signs of moving.
'I forgot to mention, but you see his forehead? Yes. There are red marks there as well. I have destroyed his brain and rebuilt it to a certain degree, thus gaining control over him.'
Jotaro froze in shock. The Overseer basically meant that Polnareff was dead.
He forced himself to move when K-423 kicked at him. He pushed all his anger down inside him, knowing that no matter how much he raged, he couldn't risk fighting both the Overseer and K-423.
He turned and ran at full speed. He used Star Platinum to break through all the doors and while he was at it, he broke the cylinder holding the person captive and carried him out of the ship.
He used Star Platinum to jump high into the air and there, he learnt the truth.
They were on an island high, high up into the sky.
Noting that K-423 chased them outside, he quickly used Star Platinum to direct himself off the island.
As Jotaro fell, he saw a portal opening beside him.
'(Shit!)' He cursed inwardly.
He racked his brain and only managed to come up with a single solution. Seeing that he was going to get killed if he dilly-dallied, he used his one method of survival.
'Star Platinum!!!' He roared out loud.
Suddenly, everything came to a halt. Jotaro had stopped time.
He discovered this ability when he was training his Stand one time. He could currently only effectively stop time for up to a whole second.
But that one second was all he needed. He summoned all his strength and put it into Star Platinum. With a multitude of swimming motions, he dashed down at an incredible speed.
When time finally resumed, K-423 was shocked to see that Jotaro has suddenly disappeared.
Hours later
Jotaro pulled himself up and found himself to be on a bed. Next to him was the person he rescued.
Just then, the door to the room opened up and he saw a girl and a boy.
'Hey Mister Buff Boy, you alright?' The flamboyant boy asked.
'...' Jotaro kept his silence.
'Not up for a talk hmm? Anyway, my name is Rain. R-A-I-N.' Rain continued.
'Do you really have to always introduce yourself like that?' The girl questioned him.
'Anyway, I'm Blake.' Jotaro realised that the two didn't seem like bad people. However, looks can be deceiving.
'Jotaro Kujo.' Jotaro muttered.
'And who is that beside you? And why did'cha drop from da sky?' Rain rattled on.
'I don't know his name. I simply saved him from a killer. And I fell from the killer's island.' Jotaro made sure to only say the gist of the situation.
'Wait! There's an island higher than the Sky City?!' Blake yelped in shock.
'Not that I know of.' Rain replied.
'Anyway, you are now in my debt.' Rain said. Jotaro raised an eyebrow.
'I found you in falling into trash and picked you up and booked this inn room for you y'know.' Rain explained.
Jotaro gave a slight nod.
'So! What are you from? If you're rich, I struck the jackpot!' Rain rubbed his hands together with dollar signs in his eyes.
Blake slapped the back of Rain's head.
'I'm not from here.' Jotaro said.
'You wouldn't happen to be transported here due to a black hole, would you?' Rain questioned.
Jotaro jumped up and summoned Star Platinum.
'Woah! Calm down! It just so happens that Blake here is in the same situation! It was just a lucky guess!' Rain waved his hands in panic.
Jotaro looked at Blake and Blake sighed.
'Look. Maybe you don't believe us, but we really aren't bad guys. I mean, if we were, we would have killed you the moment we saw you. Or robbed you. Or whatever you.'
Jotaro understood her words and agreed with it, even if only for a little, so he eased up.
'That means you don't have money…' Rain said dejectedly.
'You could help us find my friends.' Blake suddenly suggested.
Jotaro and Rain looked at her.
'I mean, you have friends you want to find as well, right? We can work together.' Blake elaborated.
Blake was right. Although he knew where and what had happened to Polnareff, Jotaro still didn't know where Kakyoin, Avdol, Iggy, and Joseph were.
And he could use the two's help against K-423 and the Overseer, if they could fight.
'Fine.' Jotaro agreed. The two smiled and turned to look at the unconscious boy. Now they needed to wait for him to wake up.
If all goes well, they would have a fourth ally.
