It's the day of the wedding and Miranda is on the dock of the house, skipping stones and trying to stay calm. Heather stands next to her mother and skips a stone and sees it skip three times on the water.

"Nervous, Mom?" Heather asked.

"A little bit." Miranda said.

"For what it's worth, Erin's awesome and you made the right decision by coming back to New York. Otherwise, you would probably be in a loveless marriage with Momma."

"I loved your Momma, but I wasn't in love with her."

"Because you were in love with Erin."

"College was different back in the nineties and times were different as well. Today, it's ok to be gay, straight, bi or transgender, but back then when I went to Columbia? People looked at you like you were some freak. That's why I never came out to Erin."

"But yet, you two still hooked up."

"We did and we never told each other that we were in love with one another. She had Jack to distract her, but she always came back to me. Until she married him. Once she did...I didn't hear from her again until we moved to New York."

"But you are finally getting your happy ending." Heather said and Miranda looks at her.

"I am." Miranda said.

"Let's go get ready, Madam Chief of Police." Miranda stops in her tracks and Heather looks at her.

"You're ok with the promotion?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Given what's going on with police matter today -"

"I don't care. As long as you come home every night, that's all I care about." Miranda wraps her arm around Heather and kisses her head.

"Good because I accepted the position and will be surprising Erin with my new dress uniform. Go get ready since sunset will be here before we know it."

Erin looks at herself in her wedding dress and slowly smiles after her hair is put into the tight bun.

"It's perfect." Erin said as Nicky stands next to her in her bridesmaid dress.

"You look really beautiful, Mom." Nicky said.

"As do you. Hang on." Erin quickly fixes the belt to Nicky's dress then fixes Heather's belt as well.

"Miranda is going to love the dress."

"And possibly rip it off of you as soon as you two are in private. Why did I just say that out loud?" Heather asked and feels her cheeks getting warm.

"I want you two to be on your best behavior while Miranda and I are on our honeymoon. Nicky, your father is watching you and Heather, Maura is watching you." Erin said, trying to move on from what Heather said, but the attorney is getting turned on from the fact that she can't wait for Miranda to get the wedding dress off of her body.

"We will." The girls said at the same time.

Miranda, wearing her new class-A Chief's uniform, stands next to Minister Patrick and releases a few deep breaths as Paul, Nick, Jamie and Danny are with her at the alter. The music starts up and she slowly smiles when she sees Nicky and Heather walking down the aisle. She winks at the teenage girls and feels her heart starting to pound in her ears when everyone stands up.

"This is it." She whispered. Her smile gets bigger when she sees Erin walking down the aisle with Frank. Erin slowly smiles when she sees Miranda waiting.

"This is a glorious day to join to amazing women, Erin and Miranda, in holy matrimony. I would like to honor those who are not with us for this day. Miranda's brother William and Erin's brother Joseph. They are in the hands of our Father and know that they shine a light on their sisters on this day. The women have decided to write their own vows. Miranda, you are first." Miranda pulls out her vows then folds them up and hands them to Paul then takes Erin's hands again.

"What I want to say can't be written down. We were 18 years old the day we met and please don't me about the heart attack I nearly suffered on that day." She said and everyone chuckles.

"I looked into your eyes when we introduced ourselves and I couldn't look away from you. We became best friends instantly and we went our separate ways after college. But I didn't stop thinking about you. Especially after I had Heather. When I came back, I knew I had to tell you that I was in love with you and come to find out, you were in love with me. I promise to love you for the rest of my life and to treat Nicky as my own daughter." She finished and feels a tear fall after she slides the ring onto Erin's left ring finger. Erin reaches over and wipes away the tear.

"Erin, it's your turn." The minister said.

"The day I saw you shaking your butt to "Give Up The Funk" -"

"Of course you would bring it up." Miranda joked and everyone chuckles.

"And when you turned around for me to look at you, I couldn't look away from you and I still can't look away from you. You and Heather and Nicky are my world and my world came crashing down around me the day you left to return to Boston. I was never in love with Jack because I was in love with you. You are the love of my life and I will love you until the day we die and treat Heather as my own daughter." Erin finished then slides the ring onto Miranda's left ring finger.

"Miranda, do you -"

"I absolutely do. Sorry." Miranda said after interrupting him.

"It's ok. Erin, do you -"

"I do." Erin interrupted him and the women slowly smile.

"Well, that part was easy. By the Power vested in me and by the State of New York, I am proud to announce you both as married. Miranda, you can finally kiss your wife."

"Oh thank god." Miranda said then cups Erin's cheeks and kisses her for the first time as wives and everyone cheers.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to be the first one to introduce to you all, Erin and Miranda Hill-Reagan." He said and the newlyweds walk up the aisle with their fingers interlaced. Miranda kisses the back of Erin's hand then kisses her again.

"When did you accept the position?" Erin asked as she looks at her wife's uniform during pictures.

"Last night during the rehearsal dinner. I pulled your father aside and told him that I would take the position." Miranda said then looks.

"Hey Pops. I'm still surprised you're still here." Miranda said when she sees her grandfather in his suit in the wheelchair.

"I'll sleep when I'm dead." He said and she kisses his head as the photographer takes a picture.

Miranda holds out her hand and Erin takes it on the dance floor as the music starts up for their first dance. Erin looks at her wife and slowly smiles when she doesn't hear Frank Sinatra singing.

But Miranda singing the song instead.

Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight

With each word your tenderness grows
Tearin' my fear apart
And that laugh..wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart

Lovely ... Never, never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?

'Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight

"How on Earth did you have time to record yourself singing this song?" Erin asked Miranda.

"I had help." Miranda said and Erin slowly smiles. Miranda twirls Erin then kisses her. Heather has her arm around Christian as they watch the first dance and he tenderly kisses her temple.

And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart

Lovely ... Don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?

'Cause I love you
a-just the way you look tonight

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look tonight

Miranda dips Erin and kisses her as everyone is cheering.

During the reception, a familiar song comes on and Miranda groans as Erin starts laughing.

"Either you, Heather or Nicky did this." Miranda said as she looks at her wife.

"I'm not gonna say." Erin said with a smile. She pulls her wife up to her feet and to the dance floor as they dance to Give Up The Funk.

Two weeks after the wedding, Erin and Miranda are in Boston to celebrate Miranda's grandfather's life after passing away in his sleep from this illness with Miranda at his side after Erin and Miranda cut their honeymoon short to be with him.

Doug takes a sip of his drink during the reception after the funeral and looks over when he sees a familiar face and walks over to him, not realizing that Miranda is walking over as well.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Doug asked him.

"Nice to see you too, Dad." Brian Baker said.

"Did you just say Dad?" Miranda asked and Doug looks at her. Miranda looks at Brian then her father, realizing the situation. She places her drink onto the piano and walks out of the house, slamming the door.

No better way to end a story than with a cliffhanger, right?
