They heard Aveline and Isabela argue as they went down the stairs.

"This is important. Don't interrupt with your selfish prattle."

"Get off your high horse." Isabela retorted. "I have problems, too."

Aveline scoffed. "'What drink should I order?' and 'Who's the father'?"

"Oh, you little…" Isabela actually raised her hand to slap Aveline.

"What is it now, you two?" Marian asked as the two ladies turned to her.

Aveline stepped forward. "The Arishok is sheltering two fugitives who have "converted" to the Qun. He must be convinced to release them." She shook her head. "He's already feared because of Petrice. If people start to think he can ignore the law…" She sighed. "I need your help so this doesn't get out of hand."

"I'm going to die." Isabela got in between Marian and Aveline, clearly frightened, as her new shocked them. "There. Got your attention. Real problem."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down. Start from the beginning." Wanda intervened.

"Remember the relic? The one Castillon is going to kill me over? A man called Wall-Eyed Sam has it." Isabela gestured. "If you help me get it, Castillon won't kill me. Please."

Aveline glared. "I'm trying to keep this entire city from rioting against the Qunari."

"Well…" Isabela turned away, and stared at the fireplace. "Maybe it's connected."

"What?" Aveline asked as her, Marian and Wanda shot Isabela incredulous looks. "Now you start being responsible? Shit."

They sighed, and asked first Aveline, and then Isabela, for details. And discovered that Isabela had known what the relic was all along. If it was connected to the Qunari… "The relic issue has to be resolved before we take on the Qunari." Marian said, looking at Aveline apologetically.

"You trust her this much?" Aveline asked.

"Probably not. I wouldn't." Isabela smiled.

"They won't wait at the compound forever, Hawke. I really do hope this helps, because if it doesn't…"

"You think I like having this thing on my mind?" Isabela asked as they followed her out of the estate. "Come on. This exchange is happening tonight in Lowtown's foundry."

Present

"Are you sure about this? The Champion was asked to go to the Qunari?" Cassandra asked, skeptical.

"I suppose you think she planned the entire thing?" Varric asked.

"Considering what it led to…"

"Come on, Seeker. I'm not going to sell Marian or Wanda or the Avengers short, but nobody could have foreseen the way that would go down." Varric shrugged. "Or do you still think I'm lying to protect my friends?"

"There are elements of your story that…| The Seeker shook her head. "Make sense. And you couldn't have known about them otherwise."

"Well, that's a relief."

"But that doesn't mean you're telling me everything."

"I want this story to be told. You're not the first to get it all wrong." Varric leaned forward. "I think I owe Marian and the Avengers that much."

Six years ago

"Hold." The Qunari blocked their path. "You will surrender the relic."

"I don't have your stupid relic." Isabela said.

"The bas has no honor. Kill it." The Qunari said, drawing their weapons but the group easily put them down.

Marian and Wanda then turned to look at Isabela. It appeared that the relic just might be related after all. Which meant she had been lying to him for the better part of four years.

"Why are the Qunari here?" Wanda demanded.

"Er… yes." Isabela said awkwardly, avoiding their eyes. "About that. The relic belongs to the Qunari, and there's a small chance they want it back."

They all shot her incredulous looks. She had stolen from the Qunari? That was the reason they stuck around in Kirkwall all along? This was all her fault.

"Tell me what you know. You can trust me." Marian said, her voice forcibly calm.

"I've always known what the relic is. I just didn't want to… worry you." Isabela said, hesitantly.

"You're the picture of kindness, Rivaini." Varric drawled.

"The relic is a Qunari text handwritten by that philosopher of theirs. Keslan, Cousland… whatever his name is." Isabela shook her head.

"Koslun?" Fenris's eyes lit up.

"That's the one." Isabela said, pointing at him.

"The founder of their religion, the most revered being in their history?" Fenris gestured. "That text would be sacred beyond measure."

Isabela nodded. "I stole it from them, they followed me here to reclaim it, and it's why they're still in Kirkwall."

Aveline growled. "And they can't leave without it. All of this could have been avoided!"

Wanda wasn't any happier. The Qunari zealots had been causing trouble for years, only because of Isabela's selfishness.

"Maybe giving it back would solve Aveline's problem." Marian said.

"It couldn't hurt!" Aveline nodded, her eyes throwing daggers at the pirate.

"Says you." Isabela glared back. "I know it will save my skin."

"Why can't this be as easy as you?" Aveline shook her head in frustration and sighed, wiping her face.

"Why would someone else than Qunari want that relic?" Wanda asked.

"The Tevinter Imperium have been at war with the Qunari for centuries." Isabela said. "if the Tevinters get the relic, it will strike a blow to Qunari morale. That's probably what the mages want."

"You could have done something about the Qunari, but you didn't." Marian scolded, glaring.

"Done what? The blighted thing didn't show up for three years!" Isabela protested. "Look, the book's right in this building, and I'm not letting it slip away again."

"There's more at stake. But…" Aveline sighed. "The Arishok waited this long. Ugh! I don't know."

"It's the only thing that'll get Castillon off my back. Please tell me you'll give the relic to me." Isabela begged.

There were hundreds of Qunari, and a city at stake. Castillon was just one man and angering him wouldn't start a war. "The artifact belongs to the Qunari, and you'll let them leave with it."

"Don't you understand? The relic is the only thing that will keep Castillon from feeding me to the sharks. I can't believe you're…" Isabela threw up her hands. "Ugh." She sighed. "Fine. You're right. I'll return the relic. It'll go straight to the Qunari once we get it." She started walking towards the foundry. "Come on. We've no time to waste."

They knew that Isabela was lying and would most likely betray them and run off with the relic but it seemed to be smarter to play along.

Tevinter was involved and then more Qunari appeared. Sam ran for it, and Isabela gave chase. As much as they wanted to go after her, the mages throwing fireballs presented a slightly more immediate concern, as did the horned giants with very big swords. Wanda put up a barrier, shielding them before Anders threw fireballs, while Marian. Fenris and Aveline kept the armed men from closing while Varric picked them off with Bianca.

The fight lasted only a minute, but it was enough time for Isabela a good head-start before they saw a letter on the floor.

"Dear Marian, I have the relic and I am gone. I'm sorry it has to be this way. You've been a loyal ally, but this is best for us both. You promised me the relic, and I know you'll fight Castillon for me, but I don't want this. I've already dragged you too far into this mess already. You don't have to forgive me, but I hope you understand. Isabela."

They sighed, knowing this would happen.

"She's gone. She took it. That bitch-born whore." Aveline's face was furious. "Well, now we get to deal with the Arishok and the fugitives ourselves. That's good." She sighed.

"That's enough. Let's go to the compound." Marian said.

Marian and Aveline as approached the compound. She nodded to the guard. "I request an audience with the Arishok."

"He will allow it, but not in this number." The guard folded his arms.

"I will bring only my friend here and a small complement of my guard. Is that few enough?"

"It is." The guard opened the gate. "Enter."

They had a bad feeling about this.

The Arishok met them standing, weapon in hand. Probably not a good sign. "Shanedan."

Aveline stepped forward. "Greetings, Arishok. We come regarding the elven fugitives that took refuge here."

"Irrelevant." The Arishok stepped past her to look at Marian. "I would speak to Hawke about the relic stolen from my grasp."

They blinked, they certainly didn't expect that the Arishok would find out so soon.

"One of my former companions stole it." Marian confessed.

"Her part was clear. Your admission…" The Arishok nodded to her. "….is welcome."

Aveline tried to draw attention back to herself. "An issue for another time. We're here for the fugitives."

"The elves are now viddathari. They have chosen to submit to the Qun. They will be protected." The Arishok said.

"Have they truly converted, or are they simply using you as a shield?" Marian questioned. They were trying to salvage the situation but apparently, the Arishok had made up his mind before they even entered.

The Arishok's next words confirmed it. "They have chosen, and so have I. You have not hidden the abuses of your zealots, or the corruption of this city. You will understand why I must do this." He gestured. "Let us look at your "dangerous" criminals. Speak, viddathari. Who did you murder and why?"

The older of the two elves stepped forward. "A city guard forced himself on our sister. We reported him…" The elf clinched his fists angrily. "Or tried to. But they did nothing about it, no matter what we said. So my brothers and I paid him a visit."

"That doesn't excuse murder." Aveline said.

"Are these elves telling the truth?" Marian asked.

"There have been rumors." Aveline admitted. "I will investigate, but they still took the law into their own hands."

"Sometimes that is necessary." The Arishok said.

"Like you avenged the viscount's son? It was not right then, and it's not right now."

"We're just here for the elves." Marian said, trying to return to the matter at hand but clearly, things were already getting out of control.

"Their actions are mere symptoms. Your society is the disease. They have chosen. The viddathari will submit to the Qun and find a path your way has denied them." The Arishok said.

"You can't just decide that. You must hand them over." Aveline protested.

The Arishok took a few steps away, then turned back and looked at Marian. "Tell me, Hawke: what would you do, in my place?"

"They deserve another chance." Marian said.

The Arishok's nod was surprisingly respectful. "Exactly so. I cannot leave without the relic, and I cannot stay and remain blind to this dysfunction. There is only one solution."

They knew this was going to happen but they had to try.

"Arishok, there is no need for—"

The Arishok interrupted Aveline with a gesture before turning to his men. "Vinek kathas."

That's when they began to toss spears at them and struck down three of the guards with them. Aveline blocked with a sword and another one bounced off Wanda's barrier. A Qunari rushed at him and he grabbed his spear arm and punched him in the face. At the corner of his eye he saw Aveline stabbing her sword in another.

Marian pulled out her swords but Aveline grabbed her and Wanda by their arms. "Not here! Too open. Go. Go!"

They retreated as the Qunari ran out from their compound, wreaking havoc in Kirkwall.

They fled. There was really no other word for it. They ran like hell until they found a sheltered area. Already, the docks were starting to burn.

"Can you hear it?" Aveline wiped blood off her brow, and he moved forward to provide healing. "The Qunari must be spreading out. They're attacking the city." She let him tend her. "Why? What could they possibly hope to accomplish?"

"You heard what the Arishok said. He's not playing nice anymore, consequences be damned." Wanda said.

"You may be right." Aveline nodded. "Whatever it is, we need to do something quickly."

They weren't far from Gamlen's house when they were attacked by yet another group of Qunari. A saarebas blew up the ground beneath Aveline's feet, sending her flying. Another qunari raised his blade to deliver a killing blow to her. An arrow caught the qunari in the eye before the blade fell. Marian as she realized a band Grey Wardens was also in the fight.

A few feet from her, a familiar face cut down one of the last of the qunari warriors. "Somehow, I knew it would be you."

"Carver!" Marian said.

"Hello, Sister. Fancy meeting you here." Carver shrugged, and then glanced at the other wardens.

"Are you injured? Are there more of you?" Marian asked.

"I'm good, but we're not the help you need."

One of the Wardens then approached them and they recognized him as Stroud, one that they met in the Deep Roads. "You have our sincere thanks. This attack was… most unexpected."

Carver glanced towards the city, and then shook his head reluctantly. "Stroud, we need to move. We've already delayed too long."

"Very true." Stroud shook his head. "I cannot believe the Qunari would dare such an attack. This will lead to war with the Free Marches for certain." He gave Marian an apologetic nod. "I fear pressing matters take us elsewhere, but we can spread word to the other free cities. Perhaps they will bring aid."

Carver and the Wardens were about to leave, when Marian spoke up. "Wait—I need to tell you about Mother."

Carver nodded. "I already know what happened. I'm sure you did your best." He gave Marian and Wanda a solemn look.

"This is not the time." Stroud then gestured for Marian to come closer. "Take this. It is all we can spare, but perhaps it will be of use."

Stroud gave them a ring and after giving him a respectful nod the Wardens began to leave.

"Goodbye, Sister. Take care of yourself." Carver said as he turned to Wanda.

"I'll watch after her." Wanda promised.

"Maker watch over you, my friend." Stroud said.

They watched as the Wardens walked down the burning streets and looked down at the ring.

A woman was screaming as a Qunari dragged her through the Hightown market. The Qunari dropped her as he caught sight of them.

"Teth a! Bas!"

"Then the Arishok failed to take you captive. Unfortunate."

The Qunari rushed at them but Wanda blasted them back. Merrill assisted by shooting lightning from the tip of her staff which gave the Qunari a wide berth.

Aveline and the four guards with her moved in, taking advantage of the barrier spell to close. Fenris remained near him, keeping the Qunari back as Anders Merrill threw spells more or less everywhere. Varric kept up a steady rate of fire, and between him, Wanda and Hawke, the Qunari were unable to regroup to deal with the warriors.

Then suddenly they were hit back by an explosion, Marian, Fenris, Merrill and Varric flying. Wanda saw the saarebas gather another spell as she fired a hex blast into the magic in saarebas's hand. The magic died in the saarebas's hands, and a heartbeat later, the saarebas's head rolled through the courtyard. The saarebas collapsed, revealing a blond woman in templar armor.

She walked to them and offered Marian a hand up. She accepted as the woman nodded. "I am Knight-Commander Meredith." She blinked. "I know you. The name "Hawke" and "Wanda Maximoff" has turned up in my reports many times. But that doesn't matter now." She turned to the Qunari abducting civilians.

Aveline stepped forward. "It's good that we found you, Knight-Commander. The Qunari are—"

"It's obvious what they're doing." Meredith gestured. "The Qunari are taking people to the Keep and may already be in control. We will need to deal with them."

Gathering people. Not just slaughtering. Possibly a good sign. Maybe. "Why would they be gathering hostages?" Marian turned to Fenris.

"They're going to take everyone of importance and put them in the same place." Fenris shrugged. "Those that agree to convert, live. Those that don't…"

Wanda shivered. Just like, when the Christians sacked the Roman Empire.

"Charming." Meredith said.

Marian knew that she had to protect Wanda from being arrested by templars later due to her powers, but there were more far more pressing matters than lone apostates and the Knight-Commander would want as much help as possible.

"I'll do whatever it takes to defend my home." Marian said.

"And to be clear, I'm not a mage, I may have powers but they are not like of your mages." Wanda said.

"Good." Meredith nodded. "Your skills are sorely needed and I'll overlook your own use of magic, for the moment." She glanced at Wanda. "Head to the Keep, and I will see if I can find more of my men. These creatures will pay for this outrage."

Aveline and the guards gave Marian a worried look as Meredith walked away. she shrugged. Nothing to be done about it now.

They ran through the streets towards the Viscount's Keep and saw mages battling the Qunari, but while they were putting up a good fight they were outnumbered. By the time they reached them and defeated the Qunari only survivor was First Enchanter Orsino himself.

"Many thanks, my friend." Orsino groaned as Marian helped him up.

"You don't seem as badly injured as the others." Marian eyed him.

Orsino looked up. "The others? Surely they cannot all be…" He stopped when he saw the bodies of the mages. He ran up to one of the bodies and fell to his knees. "Gone. I told them to run…"

They walked down the streets before Marian turned to one of the bodies on the ground and paled as Wanda also gasped.

"No…" Marian whispered.

Orsino knelt towards Bethany, who was unconscious before he used a spell to heal her wounds as Bethany's eyes opened.

Bethany moaned in pain as she got up.

"What were you thinking, child? I told you to let them take me." Orsino shook his head.

"We had to do something! We couldn't just…"

"I'm glad you're safe." Marian sighed in relief, hugging her tightly. She had just lost her mother, losing her brother or sister would break her.

"The city's under attack. No one is safe." Bethany said.

They were interrupted by the arrival of Meredith along with a dozen templars behind her. They recognized Moira and Cullen. "First Enchanter Orsino. You survived."

"Your relief overwhelms me, Knight-Commander." Orsino said sarcastically. At least the leaders of the Templar Order and Circle of Magi in Kirkwall weren't at each other's throats.

Meredith narrowed her eyes. "There is no time for talk. We must strike back, before it's too late."

Orsino shook his head. "And who will lead us into this battle? You?"

"I fight to defend this city, as I have always done."

"To control it, you mean. I won't have our lives tossed to the flames to feed your vanity."

"We need to work together, not kill each other while we figure out who leads!" Marian intervened.

"Then perhaps you should lead us." Orsino suggested.

"What? You're not even of this city." Meredith protested.

"Neither am I, yet I don't hear you complaining about us both fighting to defend our home." Orsino pointed out.

A moment later, Meredith nodded. "Very well, then. But whatever you plan, be quick about it."

Orsino turned to him. "Tell us, then: what is a course of action?"

"Let's find out what the Qunari are planning, but not risk our own necks in the process." Marian suggested.

"An excellent choice. Let's move quickly." Meredith gestured at her templars.

They soon reached the Keep, but found the Qunari were in complete control. They saw several of the soldiers guarding the entrance, far too many of them to fight and there was no telling what was inside.

"There seem to be a great many of Qunari at the Keep's entrance." Orsino noted.

"Then they've already taken it over. Clearly, they've been planning this for some time." Meredith said.

"I don't see any of my guardsmen." Aveline's voice was worried.

Meredith put a hand on her sword. "This is the only way in. We must assault them now, before their numbers grow."

"Are you mad?" Orsino shook his head. "They have hostages. We need a distraction."

"Direct attack is a sure way to see more civilians dead." Wanda said.

Marian nodded.

"We'll need to get you inside and catch up as soon as we can." Orsino said.

"And just how will we do this?" Meredith questioned.

Orsino gave her a confident look as he pulled out his staff. "Have confidence, Knight-Commander." He stepped out, and started walking right towards the Qunari. "You will not conquer this city without a fight!"

"Saarebas! Vinek kathas!" One of the Qunari shouted.

A few moments later, several of the Qunari were on fire, and the rest were chasing after the mage. Marian gestured for the templars to go to her aid, then headed into the keep.

They entered the keep but more Qunari were already waiting. Anders and Merrill slowed them down with their magic before Marian, Wanda, Sebastian, Varric, Aveline and Fenris attacked, alongside Meredith and the templars. Together, they managed to fight through but they had arrived too late for Viscount Dumar. The Arishok casually tossed the severed head down the stairs as Marian felt sympathies. Dumar did not deserve this.

"You dare!" One of the nobles stepped forward. "You are starting a war!" A Qunari stepped forward and snapped the nobleman's neck as people screamed.

The Arishok shook his head. "Look at you. Like fat dathrasi you feed and feed and complain only when your meal is interrupted. You do not look up. You do not see that the grass is bare. All you leave in your wake is misery. You are blind. I will make you see."

He looked up at Marian and his companions. "But we have guests." He set his sword on his shoulders. "Shanedan, Hawke. I expected you." He started down the stairs, picking his axe. "Maraas toh ebra-shok. You alone are basalit-an." He gave an angry look at the crowd. "This is what respect looks like, bas. Some of you will never earn it." He turned his gaze back to Marian. "So tell me, Hawke: You know I am denied Par Vollen until the Tome of Koslun is found. How would you see this conflict resolved without it?"

It was clear that he was going to be a fight to the death, but then the door swung open. They turned and found a Qunari been tossed onto the floor and stepping over him was Isabela with the tome in under her arm.

"I believe I can answer that." Isabela said as she strolled into the room, boot heels clicking. She shoved the book at the Arishok. "I'm sure you'll find it's mostly undamaged."

"The Tome of Koslun." The Arishok said, satisfied to have the book back.

"It took me a while to get back, what with all the fighting everywhere. You know how it is." Isabela turned to Marian and Wanda.

"I thought you'd be long gone by now." Marian smiled. Even Wanda seemed relieved that Isabela in the end did the right thing.

"This is your damned influence, Marian." Isabela lowered her head and sighed in frustration. "I was halfway to Ostwick before I knew I had to turn around. It's pathetic."

No. It only showed that Isabela was not as selfish as she was making herself out to be. If only she had shown this side more often.

The Arishok handed the book to another Qunari. "The relic is reclaimed. I am now free to return to Par Vollen— with the thief."

"What?" Isabela's face revealed her shock.

"Oh, no, no, no." Aveline stepped forward. "If anyone kicks her ass, it's me."

"She stole the Tome of Koslun." The Arishok said, reaching for his axe. "She must return with us."

"Isabela will answer according to our laws, not yours." Marian stepped up as the Arishok was about to take the pirate.

"I'm sure he'll take that well." Varric gave Isabela a worried look. "Rivaini? You might want to move a bit this way."

"Then you leave me no choice. I challenge you, Hawke. You and I will battle to the death, with her as the prize." The Arishok raised his swords.

"No! If you're going to duel anyone, duel me!" Isabela shouted.

"You are not basalit-an. You are unworthy." The Arishok said.

"You have what you wanted. Like she said, we'll make sure Isabela answers for what she had done." Wanda pointed out.

"You know we do not suffer thieves. She cannot walk away from this insult." The Arishok said. "I will take her, if you object, duty demands that we fight."

Very well. It seemed it was the only choice they had left.

"To the death, Arishok." Marian said.

"Meravas! So shall it be!" The Arishok yelled.

The crowd surrounded them as Marian and the Arishok readied their weapons at the main hall of the Viscount's Keep.

The Arishok was a foot taller than Marian was, and wider. The massive horned man held an axe in one hand, and a sword in the other. It was not going to be easy fight, the Arishok's advantage was that he was an expert in close combat. Marian's advantage was that she was smaller, faster and more agile.

The Arishok charged at Marian but she rolled away as he stopped. Marian cut the Arishok in the hip as the Arishok roared, glaring. Marian dodged as he swung his axe but he knocked her back with the next swing, sending her crashing against a pillar as Marian groaned. She was sure she had broken a few ribs as she felt blood in her mouth. The Arishok swung his sword but Marian dodged as it embedded itself into the pillar.

Marian stabbed the Arishok in the chest few times but the Arishok was still large and muscular and not so easily taken down. He freed the sword and swung his arm, sending her flying back as Marian slid down the floor. Marian took a breath and tried to ignore the pain as she got up on her feet. She threw a flash of smoke as it blinded the Arishok, who rushed at her.

The Arishok then blindly swung his weapons as Marian parried and dodged his strikes before she kicked him in the face as the Arishok staggered back. The Arishok ducked to avoid her blade aiming at her head and punched her in the chest as Marian fell down, struggling for breath. Marian rolled away before the Arishok could deliver the killing blow. He certainly was faster than he seemed to be, despite his size.

Marian was exhausted as the Arishok smiled in satisfaction. He rushed at Marian but Marian rolled down to avoid the axe and cut the Arishok in the leg as the Arishok fell to his knees. Marian then delivered the final blow by stabbing him in the chest.

The Arishok's eyes widened and he dropped his weapons. He looked at his hand which was covered in blood before glaring at Marian. "One day, we shall return."

The Arishok then drew his last breath and then went limp. The Qunari stared but did not attack. Instead, they picked up the Arishok's weapons, giving Marian a respective bow before they left.

Behind them, the doors opened. Meredith entered, followed by several dozen templars and Orsino. She stopped in her tracks. "Is it over?"

"It's over." Marian nodded.

"The city has been saved!" One of the magistrates cheered as they applauded.

Meredith glared but then she slowly walked towards Marian. "Well done." She nodded. "It appears Kirkwall has a new champion."

Present

Varric looked at Cassandra. "You seem confused, Seeker."

"The Champion killed the Arishok in single combat? It just sounds so… romantic." Cassandra smiled.

Varric raised an eyebrow. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you're developing a case of hero worship."

"Why? Because I have respect for a woman, who built herself from nothing?" Cassandra crossed her arms defensively.

"Mm-hmm." Varric said, unconvinced.

"If you're telling the truth." Cassandra shook her head. "If you are, then…" She sighed. "What happened at the Gallows may be far different than we assumed. I need to hear it."

"Let's say I tell you. Then what?" Varric asked, folded his arms. "Is the Chantry out for revenge? Is that what this is all about?"

"No. It's not that." Cassandra assured him.

"Then what about me? If what I tell you isn't that you want to hear, will you still let me go?"

"I will let you go." The Seeker promised.

"Well, now we're talking." Varric smiled.

"None of this is what I thought it would be." Cassandra admitted. "Tell me what really happened."

"Well, you're not going to believe what happened after that. Hell, even I wasn't able to believe what I saw right after the duel." Varric said.

Six years ago

"I thought he was going to crush you to death." Wanda noted as they left the Keep.

"Thank you." Isabela said. "Even if I didn't deserve it, you stood by me." Isabela said.

"We're friends, Isabela." Marian said.

"Are we? I'm not sure if I…"

"Scarlet. Your hands." Varric said as they turned to her.

"What…" Wanda then looked at her hands as they started to turn into dust.

Suddenly, Wanda found herself back in Wakanda as she looked around.

"What… how…"

"Wanda!"

Wanda recognized the voice and turned around. "Sam!" She rushed to Sam, hugging him tightly.

"Thank God! What happened?" Sam asked.

"Wait, you don't know what happened?" Wanda asked.

"The last thing I remember was that purple guy snapping his fingers, then dust everywhere." Sam said as it hit her.

"We're back…" Wanda realized, breathing out but then she wondered what happened before a golden circle formed from above as Marian, Isabela, Bethany, Carver, Varric, Aveline, Anders, Merrill and Sebastian fell through.

"What the hell just happened?" Varric asked.

"How…"

"I believe I can answer that."

They turned to a fat Asian man, who had formed Tao Mandalas in his hands. "We need you. They need you."

"Who?" Wanda asked.

"The Avengers." Wong said.

Steve laid down, panting out as all hope seemed lost, when he got up, groaning as they fought Thanos in the ruined New Avengers facility.

"In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet, I'm gonna enjoy it very, very much." Thanos said as the Black Order teleported on the ground with Thanos's legions and fleets of Chitauri, Outriders, Leviathans and Sakaarans.

Steve stared in despair and got up, groaning, wondering how they could win as he put the two pieces of his shield into both hands before, much to his shock, he heard Sam's voice.

"Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?" Sam called out as Steve touched his comms. "On your left."

Steve turned around to see a golden circle form that opened a portal to Wakanda, from which went out T'Challa, Shuri, M'Baku and Okoye, alongside with the armies of Wakanda and Sam, Wanda, Bucky and Groot, Marian, Isabela, Bethany, Carver Varric, Aveline, Anders, Merrill and Sebastian as T'Challa and his men started to chant their battle cry in Xhosa. More portals then appeared as from Titan went out Doctor Strange with resurrected Quill, Drax, Mantis and Spider-Man and from another portal went out Hope, also known as the Wasp.

From New York went out Daredevil, Elektra, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Frank Castle, Colleen Wing, Danny Rand, Trish Walker, Misty Knight, Barney Barton and the U.S. soldiers.

From another portal went out Davos and the warriors from K'un-Tzu and monks of the Order of the Crane Mother.

From another portal went out Deke Shaw, Melinda May, Lance Hunter, Robbie Reyes, also known as the Ghost Rider and Inhumans, alongside with Elena Rodriguez, also known as Yo-Yo.

From another portal went out Lady Sif, the Valkyrie, Asgardians and the gladiator refugees from Sakaar.

From another portal went out Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Iceman, Jean Grey, Colossus, Rogue, Kitty, Magneto, Sunspot, Angel, Mystique, Pyro, Juggernaut and Multiple Man.

From another portal went out a group of six superpowered teenagers, known as Runaways, alongside with a black boy in black cloak, Tyrone Johnson and a blonde girl in white suit, Tandy Bowen, also known as vigilantes Cloak and Dagger.

Pepper landed in front of them as a fleet of Wakandan army and Ravagers flew above them, alongside the ground forces and the Masters of Mystic Arts.

"Is that everyone?" Doctor Strange asked.

"What? You wanted more?" Wong snapped.

From the rubble emerged Giant-Man, who opened his fist to reveal Rocket, Smart Hulk and War Machine as Daisy blasted her way out with Mack and Bobbi.

Marian, Isabela, Bethany, Carver, Varric, Aveline, Anders, Merrill and Sebastian stared.

"The Avengers, huh?" Varric asked.

"There weren't that many." Wanda shrugged.

"Who's that giant ogre there?" Marian asked.

"That's… the bad guy." Wanda said.

"Well, this should be fun." Carver smirked, pulling out his sword.

"If we live to tell it, we'll be telling a tale worthy of legends." Varric laughed.

"Not that anyone's going to believe us, dwarf." Fenris chuckled.

The united Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Defenders, Runaways, agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and X-Men and other heroes got in line with the united armies of Wakandans, Ravagers, Asgardians and the gladiators from Sakaar, Masters of Mystic Arts, Inhumans, warriors from Order of Crane Mother and the U.S. army, alongside Wanda's friends as Steve summoned Mjolnir to his hand.

"Avengers… assemble!" Steve said and with a united roar, all heroes and their allies charged forward. Thanos looked a bit in dismay before he charged forward with his army.

The battle for Earth and fate of the universe has begun.
