Home Sweet Home
Time has passed since the girls left for Gaia. Earth remained continuous and chaotic but luckily back home, things were calm. The fairies kept watching on the open gate and Naoki's unconscious body. Eventually, he awakened but failed to recall what happened to him. He returned home, without a question in his mind. He decided to let Mei come to him personally and discuss it. He left a short note on her desk, hoping she would return soon and visit him.
A week has passed. Naoki goes by Mei's house every day, hoping she would appear. The fairies created a schedule where he would keep watch on the portal and the fairies could take a break.
Naoki sat alone in Mei's room, as the fairies go out for ice cream. They reassured Naoki that they are independent.
Naoki lays on Mei's bed and stares up at her ceiling. He whistles passionately but the room's temperature drops. He glances at her window, but it was closed. The room soon grew boiling hot. He hurriedly strips off his chunky grey sweater and fans himself with his hands. The room's temperature stabilizes. Naoki watches the glowing portal. He shields himself with Mei's pink comforter just in case anything flies out. A sudden gush of blasting wind escapes the portal. Naoki slams onto the wall with the comforter pressed against his face. Hanabi is the first to fly out of the portal. She lands onto the floor, headfirst, and her attire de-transforms back to her lousy hoodie and sweater combo.
Mei was the second to fly out the portal, tagged along with Momiji and Yukino. They land onto the bed and bounce off onto the floor. Earthlight elegantly leaves the portal and lands gently on her toes. She removes one of the rings and drops it from its diamond formation and closes the portal. The rest of the rings fall onto the ground. The wind halts and Naoki slowly drags his body down gently onto the couch. The comforter hides his presence.
The girls begin to bicker about Earthlight failing to defeat Dark Nature.
"You girls wouldn't understand! This was the only way!" Dark cried.
Naoki peeks at the group, as they all stand around Earthlight, with their arms in the air or crossed. He watches silently, curious about their very odd topic of conversation.
"It's time for Earth to meet its end," Earthlight concluded.
The girls fail to find the right words to respond. Earthlight stretches her body out, unfazed with what she said.
"Now, if you will excuse me, I'd like to take a brief moment with myself," Earthlight snaps her fingers and vanishes.
Mei sits on her bed, with her hands on her head.
Momiji and Yukino stand by the window, while Hanabi sits on the ground.
"Why would she want to end this planet?" Mei stuttered.
"It's like Earthlight is running away from her problems," Yukino suggests.
Hanabi gathers all the rings in her hands and stares at its shimmering material.
"She summoned us to do what, watch this world die?" Hanabi places her ring back on her index finger.
"Maybe we need to give her some time to think," Mei mutters.
"She had many years to think, I doubt giving her more time will do us any good," Momiji says.
"Then what is the point of all of this?" Hanabi throws the rest of the rings back onto the ground.
"Why would she do this then? What mother wants to see her own children die?!" Hanabi rips her ring off her finger and throws it.
"I'm not going to fight for a coward," Hanabi stands up with her hands in a fist.
"Neither am I," Yukino admits.
The fairies finally return with almost finished ice cream cones. They kick open the door, not expecting the girls to return already. They freeze, as Uji drops his cone.
They stare at the girls in silence. The girls freeze as well.
Naoki jumps from the comforter and yells.
"You're back!"
The girls look over at Naoki, not knowing what to say.
"Uh, why is nobody saying anything?" He laughs nervously.
"NAOKI!" Mei jumps onto her feet and hugs him.
"YUKINO!" Uji runs up to Yuki and she kneels to hug him.
"Hanabi…" Nene groans.
"I'm gonna spank you, what kind of hello is that," Hanabi laughs.
Nene laughs also and they hug.
"Momiji, I knew you would come back," Purin sniffs and catwalks to Momo.
Momiji giggles and hugs Purin.
Mochi patiently waits for Mei to stop hugging Naoki.
"I'm so glad you're okay," Mei buries her head onto his chest.
Naoki laughs and rubs her back.
"I'm grateful that you got back safely," He kisses her forehead.
Mei blushes and slowly backs away from Naoki. He shyly smiles and blushes.
"Ugh, go get a room," Mochi groans.
"This is her room though," Yukino says.
Mochi grumbles and marches over to Mei.
"Uh… Did you forget about me?" Mochi growls.
"Of course not," Mei picks up Mochi and hugs her tightly.
Mochi shoots a glare at Naoki. Naoki hiccups and looks away.
"We just got back, how about we relieve all this tension and call it a day?" Momiji suggests.
They all nod and head for the door.
"We'll see each other tomorrow at my place then," Momiji confirms.
"See you tomorrow everyone!" Hanabi cheerfully exclaims.
The girls part ways, leaving Mei alone with Mochi and Naoki. Mei tilts to the side a little, as her mind gets dizzy. Naoki catches her and gently picks her up like a princess.
"I feel so exhausted," Mei holds her head.
"A week has gone by, you need all the rest you can get,"
Mei's eyes slowly close.
Naoki gently places her on her bed and tucks her. Mei immediately passes out and starts snoring. Naoki chuckles and pats her head.
"Good night Mei," He kisses her forehead.
Mochi watches Naoki with a stern look.
"You always find ways to surprise me Naoki" Mochi rolls her eyes.
"Shall I kiss you goodbye too?" Naoki teases.
"Get out," Mochi growls.
Naoki pouts and makes his way out.
"Call me when she wakes up," Naoki yells.
Mochi slams the door before he could say another word.
"Naoki became so flirty ever since they left, perhaps he's in love with me?!" Mochi whispers.
"Definitely not, my heart belongs to Uji and being in love with a bird is against the human rules! Pretty sure it's against the law too…" Mochi flies around the room, diving deep in her weird thoughts.
She flies off course and bangs into the wall. She holds her beak, as she winces.
A blinding light shines behind her, resulting in Earthlight floating down onto the drawer. Mochi rubs her aching beak and stares at Earthlight in confusion and delight.
"Your Highness," Mochi bows.
"The day is going too slow, here come hold my hand," She extends her small hand out.
Mochi lightly holds it.
Earthlight takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Time begins to speed up. Mochi looks up at Mei's pink clock and sees the hour hand fly by until it hit midnight. Earthlight opens her eyes and time returns back to normal. Mochi releases her hand and looks out the window.
"Woah, you can fast forward through time?"
Earthlight's nose starts to bleed, a bright white liquid drip out. Earthlight grabs a tissue and plugs her nose.
"He and I made a deal, whenever I fast forward through time, I lose a certain amount of energy depending on how far I traveled," Earthlight holds her head.
"Why would you fast forward?"
"I didn't feel like waiting a whole 8 hours, plus I'll heal in about 5 minutes,"
"Can you go back into the past?" Mochi hesitantly asks.
"Of course, but I can only watch it not interact with it,"
"Can you do… um… a small favor for us fairies?"
"I have a feeling I know what you'll ask,"
"Can you show us our past before Dark came—"
"No,"
"Why not,"
"Absolutely not,"
"But!"
"You want a quick summary of your life?" Earthlight's voice grows loud and rough.
"You were originally supposed to be the guardians of spring but instead Dark came and ruined everything and now you're one of the last living species from Gaia, and you'll never breed because no one from our kind is alive! There happy?!" Earthlight yells.
"Oh—"
"I'm sorry," Earthlight cried.
"No… I'm sorry, I won't bring it up ever again," Mochi holds back her somber tone.
"Quick question though, I can only breed with my own kind?" Mochi's voice cracks.
"Exactly, no bird or penguin can make a child, absolutely not, especially since winter and spring do not mix!"
"So, my life will end with my bloodline ending here,"
"How about you restore Gaia?"
"Gaia was a mistake, I should've stayed on Earth and kept its balance, but I let my selfishness take over and now there's no point in saving a world where it's death is already determined,"
"Earthlight, you'd be surprised how amazing Earth is, you should try to get along with it," Mochi says.
"I'll consider it, but I believe it's useless,"
"Try first, then decide, and plus all Earth needs is your healing,"
Earthlight doesn't respond.
She turns away from Mochi and sits on Mei's dresser. Earthlight lightly taps her finger on the dresser, summoning three golden portals. Each fairy ascends from its designated portal. The portals vanish and the fairies tumble onto each other.
"What the?! Why are we in Mei's room again?" Uji panics.
Earthlight forces a cough, alerting the flustered fairies.
"I have some news and you may be frustrated with me, the Precures are probably regretting putting on their ring and wasting their time finding me," Earthlight sighs.
"The girls don't regret finding you!" Nene says.
Earthlight looks down and plays with her thumbs.
"You can tell us anything and we won't be mad with you," Mochi says.
Earthlight takes a deep breath and tries looking up at the fairies.
"I am… p-putting an end to this planet," Earthlight stuttered.
The fairies look at each other, failing to process what she said.
"What do you mean the end?" Uji strokes his chin.
Mochi gasps and covers her mouth with her wings. Purin also gasps and backs away from Earthlight.
Nene and Uji remain confused.
"You monster!" Purin cried.
"But you just agreed to consider Earth! How could you just decide to end it?!"
Earthlight slams her fist on the dresser, silencing the frightened fairies.
"Do you not see how terrible this world has become?! Look around you!" Earthlight screams.
"Forests are burning! The ocean is full of plastic! How do you expect to save a planet when it's filled with humans who disrespect it?!"
The fairies are lost for words.
"Humans are trying to fix their mistakes!" Mochi cried.
"Humans are filthy creatures; you think they are going to fix this place while they can't solve their own problems without destroying it?!"
"But doesn't that mean you have the same motives as Dark?" Nene hesitantly asks.
Earthlight chuckles.
"Dark's purpose is to end me, not this planet. She feeds off its negativity. Once I'm gone, then the Earth with die immediately and she will die too,"
Earthlight's chuckle turns into a groan.
"Dark will only die if I die, it's best to shrink down her source of hate and have her slowly rot,"
"There isn't any loophole to this situation…" Purin grumbles.
"The Earth will die but so will Dark. We can't have Earth die, because everyone will die, but Dark won't be a threat anymore," Mochi starts to get lost in her thoughts.
"Dark is only a threat to me, humans are the real threat to this planet," Earthlight states.
"Would you remove humans from here?" Mochi asks.
"Impossible, God created them. They have a permanent place here," Earthlight clicks her tongue in frustration.
The fairies sit together in a line, facing Earthlight with a serious face.
"There has to be another way, and we will find it, no matter what!" They say in unison.
Earthlight laughs at their determination.
"You speak wise, pity that things had to happen in Gaia, you all would've made great guardians," Earthlight smiles.
"Now for the next step,"
"We don't know Dark's next move, the girls will need to train harder especially with their new wands and most likely upgrades,"
The fairies nod.
"What are you going to do?" Nene asks.
Earthlight looks at her own reflection from Mei's mirror on the wall.
"I need time to think," Earthlight sighs.
"Call me from the rings when you need me,"
Earthlight claps her hands and her body vanishes.
"Will things be calmer now…" Purin stutters.
"Of course! Let's give the girls a day off and we'll start preparing the next day," Uji cheerfully exclaims.
Momiji: Where did Purin go?
Yukino: She left with Uji, but they didn't say where they were going
Momiji: This late at night? I hope they are okay…
Yukino: Uji is strong, they will get home safely
Uji: So, are you gonna uber us home or what?
Purin: Be a man and take us home!
Mochi: Does it look like I have a phone?
Nene: Or money?
Uji: You're right… *grabs ring* EARTHLIGHT!
Earthlight: Maybe I should take back my statement of you guys being good guardians…
Nene: You idiot! You can't just order Earthlight to bring us home—
Earthlight: Next time on Season Touch Precure, A Day Off,
Mochi: Oh? Where did they go?
Earthlight: *giggles and vanishes*
