AN:/ Um... hi. Thank you to everyone that reviewed. There were a lot of mixed feelings about last chapter and you guys sure made sure that it was known… that's all I'll say.
Here's the next update.
Previously on You're Just What I Need:
"Cal if you'll just let me explain"
"There is nothing to explain Arizona. I don't want to hear about the time you spent with her." she sighs, "I can't even look at you let alone marry you."
Frowning, I ask, "W-What are you saying Calliope?"
"I'm saying that the wedding is off Arizona."
Arizona's P.O.V.
Springing up from my pillow breathing hard, I look around me and see that I am in my bedroom. Looking at the time on the clock I see that it's a quarter to 10.
'Calliope. I need to talk to Calliope.'
Getting up out of bed, I stumble around the room looking for my phone. Hitting my toe on the dresser, I yelp in pain which wakes a sleeping Teddy up.
Jolting up from the floor she looks around, "What's going on?" she asks, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, watching as I frantically run around the room looking for my phone despite the pain in my toe.
"My phone." I tell her, "I need my phone. I need to talk to Calliope" I say, tears gathering in my eyes.
Hopping up she steps in front of me, "Zo, what's wrong? You're not getting cold feet, are you?" she asks in a worried tone.
Shaking my head, I say, "No. I just need to speak to Callie. Now."
"Ok, ok" She says, and starts helping me look.
"Ah, ha!" she says, holding up her phone. "Come sit down Zo and I'll get Cal on the phone," she says, dialing what I assume is Calliope's number as I sit on my bed.
"Damn it, voicemail" she groans, hanging up and dialing another number.
After a few seconds, the person answers, "Hey, babe are you around Cal right now?" …
"Can you give her the phone? Arizona wants to talk to her." … "I know babe but something's wrong with her. She wants to talk to Callie" she says and glances at me while Addie is saying something on the other end of the line, "No she doesn't." ... "I-I, babe I don't know, please just give Callie the phone." … "Thank you" she sighs and hands me the phone. Taking it from her I put it to my ear.
"Hello? Ari? Is everything okay?" I hear the sweet sound of my brides' voice.
"Calliope..." I barely get out as the tears start to flow.
"Sweetie what's wrong?" she asks, concern laced in her tone.
"Baby I had the worst dream and I just needed to hear you voice" I sob.
"Awe, what happened?" she asks.
Recollecting the entire dream to her she sighs. "Yeah, I can see why that would freak you out babe. It'd freak me out as well."
"It all just felt so real Calliope. You know that I would never do something like that to you, right?" I ask.
"Of course, I do Ari. If I thought you would then we wouldn't be getting married in a few hours." She chuckles. "I'm sorry you had a bad dream… I guess that I'm partly to blame for that."
"Why do you think that?"
"Well I was the one freaking out yesterday about everything going wrong after my dress mishap and then I was saying how everything seemed too good to be true with how great everything was turning out. You were the one that talked me through those moments, and I think that my words subconsciously stayed in your mind and conjured up this dream of yours" she admits.
"I don't blame you baby. I just, I just wanted to talk to you and reassure myself that none of it was real. I'd never forgive myself if I ever hurt you like that Calliope" I tell her truthfully.
"Good because I'm trusting you with my heart Ari. Today, at 5 p.m. I am giving you my heart completely and I am trusting you not to break it."
"I don't ever plan on it" I whisper into the phone.
"Neither do I my love." She says softly, "Now I need to go, I have to start getting all pretty for you." She jokes.
"You're always pretty to me but ok. I'll see you later beautiful" I tell her.
"See you later babe" she confirms before hanging up the phone.
Letting out a sigh of relief, I collapse back onto the bed and feel Teddy sit down beside me, "You okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, I feel a lot better now." I tell her, "Thanks Teds"
"No problem bud!" she likely punches me in my side, "I would also like to take this time to say that your minds depiction of me was spot on because you have become one of my best friends Arizona but if you ever did something like that to Callie I'd kick your ass. Same goes for her." Teddy says, and I laugh.
"I wouldn't expect anything less." I reply, standing and heading into the bathroom to relieve my bladder before brushing my teeth and washing my face. Exiting, I see a refreshed Teddy standing by the door waiting. Grabbing my phone, we head downstairs where they are about a dozen people moving around us setting up different stations.
"There you two are, it's almost time to start getting ready" my mom tells us, holding a content Skylar in her arms. Greeting her, I take my son in my arms, kissing his little cheek receiving a slob-filled smile in return.
"Hey baby boy, mama missed you and Mila so much last night" I gush talking to him as I followed Teddy and my mom into the kitchen to grab some breakfast before the preparation begins.
"Speaking of, where is my daughter?" I frown, looking around for my baby girl.
"She's with your father. He went for a walk on the beach. When he tried to put her down in her swing, she started crying so he just took her with him." she says, sitting a plate down in front of Teddy and I.
Nodding, at her response, I dig into my food while occasionally feeding Sky some tiny pieces. After a while the Colonel walks through the back door with my baby girl in his arms babbling away about something and he is laughing and responding to her which makes her more excited and she squeals hitting his chest.
Laughing at the two of them, I hand off Sky to my mom before grabbing Mila and giving her and little loving as well which she soaks up.
Before I know it, the hair and make-up crew are ready to get the ball rolling and thus begins the chaos.
Five hours later everyone's hair and make-up is done and they're all dressed and I am standing in the mirror looking at the dress that I picked out not even three months ago.
My mom made it no secret that she wanted to see me dancing down the aisle in a big poufy white dress and we all know that, that is not what I initially had in mind.
No, originally, I was going to be standing at the end of the aisle watching my Calliope walk to me in something that I am more comfortable in like a tux, but I am only getting married once and as much as I want to be comfortable, I want my mom to be happy as well. Plus, Calliope told me to surprise her, so I am sure that she'll be super surprised because besides baby pictures, this is the first time and most likely the last time that she'll see me in one.
Callie's P.O.V.
Waking up this morning, I surprisingly only had a mild headache. Nothing that I nice cup of coffee and a little greasy breakfast couldn't fix.
During breakfast, Addie told us that we were going to be spending our morning down at the spa in preparation for the wedding which for me is the perfect end to my bachelorette night. As I was getting dressed, I couldn't help but have my mind wander off to Mila and Skylar… oh how I miss my babies. I can't wait to see them later.
Then I start to wonder how Arizona's night went. When I asked Addie, she assured me that Teddy told her that Arizona had a great time. I'll just have to ask her about it later.
Standing in my room, a smile works its way up onto my face as I think about the fact that the next time I look into those beautiful blue eyes, we'll officially become life partners.
"Hey Cal, you ready?" Addie asks, peeking into my room.
"Yeah, I'm ready" I tell her, slipping on my shoes, not realizing that I left my phone sitting on the dresser.
Meeting Lexie, Jen, and Aria in the hallway we head downstairs to the spa. The lady at the front desk immediately recognizes Aria and I and greets us with a wide smile showing our group to the changing rooms and telling us the plan for today.
An hour later, I am in heaven as the masseuse is elbow deep in my back massaging away the tension in my muscles when Addison rushes in the room.
"Um, Cal we have a slight situation" Addie tells me.
"What's going on?" I frown, lifting my upper body to look at my best friend.
"Teddy is on the phone she says that Arizona is freaking out and needs to talk to you" she says.
Reaching out for the phone, she tells Teddy to give Arizona the phone before handing it to me.
"Hello? Ari? Is everything okay?" I ask into the speaker, slightly worried to hear the answer.
"Calliope..." she barely gets out as I hear her begin to cry.
"Sweetie what's wrong?" I ask, concern laced in my tone, afraid that something has happened.
"Baby I had the worst dream and I just needed to hear you voice" she sobs, and I let out a slight breath of relief. 'A nightmare, I can deal with a nightmare.' I think to myself as I ask her what happened.
"Well, i-it started out with me waking up and I was talking to Teddy then I talked to my dad and told him about how excited I was for today then I got ready and next thing I know, we're standing in front of each other at the ceremony. The officiant asked if anyone objects and of all people, Julie comes out of nowhere and objects." I frown at her words, continuing to listen, "Then, then it was like I went into a flashback of my first day at Miami Central. I remember that day. I was on the phone with my parents before I walked inside of the school. They were wishing me a great first day but, in the dream, I was talking to Julie telling her to leave me alone. Then it just went back to us standing there and Julie was all "You should be with me"" I chuckle at her imitation of the infamous Julie.
"-and I was like "No, I'm getting married. I love Callie not you" and she was like "But, but-" and I was like "But what?" and then another flashback happened. This time you and I were having sex and it felt so damn real Calliope. It's like I could actually feel you tightening around me" she groans, and I blush, a small smile making its way to my face.
"And when we were finished we were cuddling but my phone started ringing and I looked at it and it said 'Unknown Caller' and I guess it was Julie because I didn't answer so then it went back to the present and Julie's all like "You said you'd be with me if she wasn't in the picture" she was referring to you and then before I could say anything you looked at me and got pissed because I had been in contact with her but never told you about it and this is where it gets weird Cal. It flashbacked to me going to Boston now both you and I know that I haven't been back to Boston but I was back there and I was talking to you on Facetime and I told you that I was going to meet Carlie and Greg for lunch. Well when I went, I ran into Julie and she asked to talk to, to get closure so I agreed, and we ended up going for drinks. We talked and she ended up walking me back to my hotel and the next thing I know..." she hesitates, going quiet and I look at the phone to be sure that she's still on the line.
"Then what Ari?" I ask,
"Then she was leading me into my hotel room..." she says softly. Clenching my jaw of what she is implying, I say, "Hmm" and she continues.
"Then it went back to like that present time and you were pissed, and you walked off from me and Teddy literally threatened me and told me to fix it. I told Julie to leave and that, that night was a mistake and when I came to talk to you, you said that there was nothing to talk about and that the wedding was off..." she says going silent.
Waiting to see if she's going to say something else, I realize that she isn't. I sigh, "Yeah, I can see why that would freak you out babe. It'd freak me out to." I say softly.
"It all just felt so real Calliope. You know that I would never do something like that to you, right?" she asks.
"Of course, I do. If I thought you would then we wouldn't be getting married in a few hours." I chuckle. "I'm sorry you had a bad dream baby, I guess that I am partly to blame for that" 'Me and my damn overthinking' I think to myself.
"Why do you think that?" she asks.
"Well I was the one freaking out yesterday about everything going wrong after my dress mishap and then I was saying how everything seemed too good to be true with how great everything was turning out. You were the one that talked me through those moments, and I think that my words subconsciously stayed in your mind and conjured up this dream of yours" I tell her.
Protesting she says, "I don't blame you baby. I just, I just wanted to talk to you and reassure myself that all of it was just a dream and that none of that ever happened. I'd never forgive myself if I ever hurt you like that Calliope" she tells me, and I can just hear the truth pouring out of her words.
"Good because I'm trusting you with my heart Ari. Today, at 5 p.m. I am giving you my heart completely and I am trusting you not to break it." I say, seriously.
"I would never, at least not on purpose," she whispers into the phone.
"Neither would I my love." I tell her, a smile on my face.
Feeling a tap on my shoulder, I look at Addison who is silently telling me that we have to get moving if we want to stay on schedule.
Nodding, I wrap up our conversation, "Now I need to go babe, I have to get all pretty for you." I say in a joking manner.
"You're always pretty to me but ok. I'll see you later beautiful" she says, and I can just hear the smile in her voice.
"See you later" I confirm before hanging up the phone.
Turning to Addie she asks, "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, Ari just needed to hear my voice" I smile not really wanting to go into detail. Sensing this Addie nods and we continue on with our pampering session.
Arizona's P.O.V.
'This is it. The day that I've been waiting for.' I think to myself as I stand at the entrance to my tent waiting for Teddy to let me know that it's go time.
This is it. After this I am going to be a married woman! 'Arizona Robbins-Torres' that has a nice ring to it. It's like Calliope's last name was meant to go with mine.
"Hey Zo-" Teddy's voice rings out as she steps through the curtain, stopping short as her eyes land on me.
"Woah, you look hot!" She says, a huge smile on her face.
Blushing slightly, I turn and glance at myself in the mirror, smoothing away imaginary wrinkles before smiling and turning back to her, "I hope Calliope has the same reaction"
"Are you kidding me? She's going to flip her shit when she sees you." Teddy says.
"You ready?" she asks, and I nod.
Leading me out of the tent just out of view of our guests, I take a deep breath as I step up next to the Colonel. Looking to him, he has a look of surprise on his face. Oh yeah, did I mention that no one knows that I decided to wear a dress for the ceremony?
Placing a kiss on the side of my forehead, he says, "Sweetie you look beautiful"
"Thanks dad" I tell him with a smile as I loop my arm around his.
Hearing the beginning cords of the music, I take another deep breath, "You ready soldier?" the colonel asks one final time.
"As ready as I'll ever be old man" I say, and he laughs.
'Here we go' I think to myself as we begin to walk. Looking down at my feet, I silently tell myself not to trip.
"You aren't going to fall." My dad whispers to me causing me to look up at him. When our eyes meet, he nods his head to reassure me. Smiling at him, I turn to look in front of me and realize that we have made it to the aisle.
Walking slowly, I look and smile at each of the faces that meet my eye. Finally meeting the eyes of my mom, I notice that she is in tears. Stopping beside her, I give her a hug.
"You look so beautiful honey" she says softly before pulling away. Smiling in gratitude, I allow my dad to escort me the rest of the way to the beautifully decorated gazebo where the officiant is standing.
Turning to the crowd, he kisses my cheek before going to stand beside my mother.
Looking out to our large number of guests, I smile, waiting to catch sight of my beautiful bride to be.
Callie's P.O.V
"Cal you're up" Addison says, coming up behind me as I am situating my hair piece. Reaching up, she slightly adjusts it causing me to smile and turn around.
"Thanks Addie"
"You're welcome. Now let's get you married so Arizona can wipe ridiculous look of anticipation off of her face." She jokes.
Chuckling, I follow her out of the side of the tent where my dad is waiting.
"Daddy" I smile in greeting.
"Mija…" she says, his eyes clouding over, "You look as beautiful as your mother did on our wedding day, if not more." He says, stepping up to me and holding out his arm. "Shall we?"
Looping my arm in his I giggle, "We shall"
My feet begin moving and I have to mentally tell myself to slow down or else I'll be running down the aisle.
Making it to the beginning of the walk way, my eyes meet Arizona's and immediately my breath is taken away.
"She wore a dress" I mumble to myself in awe, not realizing that we are getting closer and closer to her.
Finally making it to her, I stare at her, speechless at the stunning sight in front of me and I can tell that she is the same way. Feeling my dad kiss my cheek, I send a grin his way as he moves to sit beside my mother who is a sobbing mess right now with a sleeping Mila in her arms.
Feeling a hand take mine, I look back to Arizona and she smiles.
"You look beautiful Calliope" she tells me, running her eyes up and down my body.
Blushing, I smile, "So do you." I gesture to her attire, "A dress?"
"I wanted to surprise you" she winks as we turn toward the officiant.
"We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life's greatest moments, and to cherish the words which shall unite Callie and Arizona in marriage."
"Marriage is the promises between two people who love each other, and trust in that love, who honor each other as individuals, and who choose to spend the rest of their lives together."
"This ceremony will not create a relationship that does not already exist between you. It is a symbol of the promises you will make to each other to continue growing stronger as individuals and as partners. No matter how much you succeed, you now succeed together. The love between you joins you now as one." She smiles at us.
"The Brides have a few words to share. Arizona, why don't you start."
Arizona's P.O.V.
Watching Calliope walk down the aisle to me, I was in awe. In awe at how gorgeous and miraculous she looked. I mean, Calliope has always been beautiful to me. It's one of the things that attracted me to her of course but today… today is different. It's as if she has this new glow about her.
Turning to look at Calliope, I take a deep breath and smile, "Calliope" I say, my smile widening if that's even possible.
"Since the first day that I met you I've been happier than I've ever been in the … years that I've been alive." I glance over to my parents, "No offense mom and dad, you guys know that I had a very happy childhood" I quickly say hearing our guests, along with Calliope laugh.
Turning back to her, I continue, "You came into my life when I was not expecting it. I'd just moved here and all I wanted to do was get settled in and start building a life here. Who would've thought that you'd come crashing into my life so soon? You have shown me how to love with passion, purity, and unconditional acceptance. Now, now a year later we are standing here vowing to be together for the rest of our lives with two beautiful children and I wouldn't have it any other way. Together we are better than we could ever hope to be alone, and today I give you my love, my trust, and my fidelity forever. I love you more, today, than I did yesterday, and less than I will tomorrow Calliope."
Callie's P.O.V.
Hearing Arizona profess her love in front of our friends and family, I couldn't help but feel the love in each and every word that she uttered. By the time she was finished, I was nearly bawling.
"I love you more, today, than I did yesterday, and less than I will tomorrow Calliope." She says, and smiles, reaching up to wipe my unshed tears.
"Geez, how am I supposed to go after that" I joke as she chuckles along with everyone else. Sniffing, I reach down grabbing her hands as she sends me a reassuring smile.
"Over the course of the last five years, I have achieved things that some only dream of and that many don't achieve until later on in life but through it all, there was always something missing. Yeah, I had my family, Addison and Teddy to celebrate my wins and to cheer me up during my losses but there was still something missing in my heart, in my soul. The first time that I met you, it was like that missing piece had instantly been filled and I knew that I had to get to know you. You captured my heart by being exactly who you are. The sweetest, most loving, compassionate, and the cheesiest person I have ever known." I say and once again everyone laughs, "You have been the reason that I smile, and you have given comfort beyond measure when I have cried. I'm not sure a lifetime is long enough to return all you have given to me, but I promise the rest of my days I'll spend by your side. Ari," I say, leaning my forehead against hers, "On this day, my hand is yours to hold and my heart" I take her left hand that I am holding and place it over my heart, "is forever yours to keep." I finish nuzzling my nose against hers before pulling back watching as she too wipes a few tears from her eyes.
"That was very sweet and heartfelt." The officiant says, turning to Aria.
"May we have the rings please?" she asks, and Aria holds up the two boxes containing the wedding bands that we picked out.
Opening the boxes, we both pull out each other's rings, holding them waiting on the officiant to continue.
Arizona's P.O.V.
"Arizona please place the ring on Callie's ring finger" the officiant says, and I take Calliope's hand, doing as she said.
"Do you, Arizona, take Callie to be your wedded wife. To have and to hold. To bring out the best in her, share your happiest moments together, face your greatest challenges together, and love each other until death do you part?"
Looking into Calliopes eyes, I smile, "I do" I say, fully sliding the ring onto her finger.
"Do you, Callie, take Arizona to be your wedded wife. To have and to hold. To bring out the best in her, share your happiest moments together, face your greatest challenges together, and love each other until death do you part?"
"I do" she smiles, sliding my ring onto my finger.
"You may kiss the bride" she says and I pull Calliope to me kissing her like my life depended on it. Pulling back, I smile at her, "I LOVE YOU" I mouth to her as we turn to our guests, meeting their cheers of joy.
Taking my hand, we walk down the aisle, followed by our families, hugging and waving to people as we go. Making it to the end the photographer whisks us away to take some wedding photos.
First, he takes some of Calliope and I some serious and loving and some just outright silly. Next is me with my parents then Tim and his family. Then its Calliope's turn to take some with her family. While they are doing that, I grab Teddy and we head back to my tent and she helps me change into my reception attire. Yep, if you thought that I wasn't wearing a suit today, you lost your mind.
Walking back to where they are finishing the pictures of our parents, I see Callie talking to Addison and Aria. They spot me and gesture for Callie to turn around, when she does, she smirks and walks over to me.
"You sly dog" she smirks, "I should've known that you where going to change" she laughs.
"Of course, I have to be comfortable for when we get our dance on soon" I smile, giving her a peck on the lips.
Reaching up to fix my collar she looks me up and down, "I must say that you did look beautiful in your dress but you know what you wearing a suit does to me" she practically growls and I give her an expectant look.
"Just a little while longer and you can show me" I say in her ear as I move past her, walking to where Teddy is telling us to line up for our introduction leaving my wife standing there turned on and just a little frustrated.
Finally feeling her presence beside me, I look over to her, and she glares at me, "That was cruel Mrs. Robbins-Torres" she groans
"And I plan to make up for it later baby" I tell her just as the announcers voice rings out,
"Now Introducing Mrs. & Mrs. Arizona and Calliope Robbins-Torres"
Callie's P.O.V.
If I thought that Arizona looked amazing earlier in her wedding dress, she looks hot as hell right now. 'Jesus...' I say to myself, fanning myself as I watch from afar as she converses with a few relatives.
After the ceremony, we took a few wedding party photos before Arizona left to change into none other than a sexy women's all white tux.
Her contact lenses started bothering her a little while after the reception started, so she decided to take them out and placed her glasses on and for me, that just adds to her hotness. She knows what it does to me when she wears them around me.
We've been mingling with our guests for about twenty minutes now and just as I am talking to Aria and her date/boyfriend Robert (the guy she met on Valentine's Day) Addison's voice rings throughout the room on the microphone.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I do hope that you are enjoying yourself because the night is just getting started" she smiles.
"If our brides would please make their way to the middle of the dance floor, for their first dance," she says, and I feel Aria pushing me forward. Finding my favorite pair of cerulean blue eyes, I smile as we meet in the middle of the floor.
Holding out her hand, Arizona smirks, "May I have this dance my lady?"
"You may" I smile, taking her hand and pulling me close as the beat courses through the speakers.
Smiling as I immediately recognize the song, I wrap my arms around her neck and lean my head on her shoulder as I feel her arms wrap around my waist.
Like a montage in a movie, right before the hero dies
Like the first time that you listen to your favorite singer live
Like an echo in a canyon
Like tears, but you're not sad
Like a sunrise on a mountain
I wanna move you like that
Moving my head from her shoulder, I into her eyes, seeing nothing but love in them. I lean my forehead against hers, closing my eyes as I listen to the lyrics.
Oh, I wanna move you like that (oh, oh)
Arizona's P.O.V.
The only task that was given to me in preparation for this glorious occasion was to choose the song for our first dance. Since Calliope and I met, some of the best memories that we have incorporate music somehow. There's our first date where we picnicked while listening to the great live band music then our second date where she practically gave me a show on the way to the restaurant when she sang Whole Lotta Woman by Kelly Clarkson. All of the times that she's in the shower or cooking and had music playing and she's singing alone so beautifully, or sometimes when we make love and one of the various slow jamz playlists she has is playing… and I could continue on and on.
So, when I was deciding on what song to use, I wanted to create another great memory just one of the many that we have that include music. I wanted this to be special.
When I heard this song, I knew that this had to be it. It's perfect.
Like a symphony at sundown, in the middle of July
When a lyric really gets you and it breaks you down inside
Like the home that you were raised in
Like faded photographs
Like the thrill of Christmas morning
Yeah, I wanna move you like that
Watching Calliope's face as we sway to the sound of the music, I can't help the smile that crosses my face. By just one glance at her, you can see every single emotion that is running through her veins and right now, she is really taking in the lyrics.
Oh, I wanna move you like that (oh, oh)
Burring my face in her neck, I breathe in the scent that is simply Calliope Robbins-Torres.
Like a solemn Hallelujah
Like a choir shouts amen (amen)
Like your first time falling in love on a stairway up to heaven
Feeling the vibration of her humming alone with the song, I place a light kiss on her neck, pulling her tighter into me.
Like a soldier who is falling as he holds his country's flag
And he fights for freedom's calling
I wanna move you like that
Oh, I wanna move you like that (oh, oh)
Feeling her hand snake through my loose curls, I feel nothing but pure content as she rubs her cheek against mine.
I wanna move you like that (oh, oh)
Oh, like that, oh (oh, oh)
I wanna move you like that (like that)
(Oh, oh)
(I wanna move you)
Like an endless fire burning
Like a hope that fuels the light
Like the hands that simply hold you, when words can't make it right
Pulling back to look at her, I see that her eyes are now open again, and full of tears. Reaching up I gently wiping the unshed tears away, smiling as the next words ring out.
Like the first time that I met you, I fell so hard, so fast
Like that montage in a movie
Mmm, the way you move me
I wanna move you like that
Cupping her cheek, I lean in connecting our lips not hearing the cheers and calls around and reddened cheeks of our parents as I can't help but turn it inappropriate when I run my tongue across her bottom lip which she quickly responds to by opening her mouth just enough for our tongues to meet before we pull away from each other.
Looking her in the eyes one last time I say, "I wanna move you like that Calliope."
AN:/ Well, there it is. The next chapter will be their honeymoon and then there's an epilogue after that and I'll be done wasting you guys' time. -Britt
