Chapter 33- One Day

"Babe, we're going to be late" Edward said while trying to escape my arms.

"So? When has that ever stopped you?" I replied placing kisses along his bicep.

"Control yourself woman" E joked. Everyone will be waiting. We have plenty of time for sexy shenanigans later".

I stuck out my bottom lip in full pout form, "fine".

Edward smiled, kissed my lips and guided me gently toward the front door. We really did have to get going. Jake and Rosie (yes, they're still together!) were visiting so dad was hosting a dinner.

E locked up his house that was basically ours. I technically still had my apartment, but was almost never there. Over the last six months I had started to move items from my place to Edwards. Once my lease was up we would complete the process and we would "officially" share Edwards childhood home.

It was weird being back there at first, always overwhelmed by memories. Memories of happier times with Esme and not so happy times with Edward. Memories I had tried to forget. Edward and I had pushed past the bad times though and began making new memories, We painted walls and redecorated turning the house into our home. Edwards old room was now a guest room and the master room became ours of course.

Life was great. Sure we had moments that weren't perfect, but that's life. Giving this relationship a second chance may have been the best decision I had ever made.

"So, excited to see everyone?" E said while reversing out of the driveway.

"Very"

"Yeah, I'd say it's a bit overdue"

"Most definitely" I said with a smile.

As we drove toward dads my mind began to reminisce about all the years I had been blessed to share with my friends. We had shared many milestones; becoming high school freshmen, reckless teenage partying, beach days, watching relationships form and end, moving across country for continued education, losing loved ones. All the highs and lows of life. Somehow through the hard times we remained connected. We were lucky. I was lucky.

The sudden sound of dads gravel driveway beneath tires brought my head from out of the clouds.

The dining room was filled with laughter and loud talking. Everyone clearly had a lot of catching up to do.

"Hi honey" dad said approaching me for a hug.

"Hey dad" I said into his shoulder.

"How've you been?"

"Good. We're really good."

Dads proud smile said the words he didn't- "I was right".

Ok old man

"Let's toast!" I heard yelled above the rest of the voices.

Alice had a glass held high above her head.

Everyone hurried to grab their glasses.

"To friendship. To the craziness of life not breaking us. To this beautiful group of individuals who I am SO happy to inform will have a new member in about six months".

It was quiet for a moment as everyone tried to understand what was happening.

"Alice? No way?!" I said excitedly rushing toward her.

"Yes!" she squealed embraced in my hug.

"OH MY GOD, SHE'S PREGNANT GUYS!" I shouted for the slow folks in the room.

Congratulations were shared and the evening went on to be another milestone memory burned in my brain.

I step out of the shower and see Edward in my direct line of view, removing his white undershirt.

That never gets old

"Coming to bed babe?"

"Yeah, in just a minute" I say while towel drying my hair.

"I'd say tonight was a success, huh?"

"Yeah. It was nice, much needed. And I am SO excited for Alice and Jasper!" I say pulling the covers down on my side of the bed before crawling in.

"Yeah, that's really cool." E says before turning off the side lamp.

Edward crawls in beside me and pulls me close to him. "One day hopefully that will be us" he says softly in my ear.

I smile because I was thinking the same.

"One day" I say. "Goodnight E, love you"

"Love you. Goodnight beautiful"
