"Good morning, Weiss!" Jennifer announced as she barged into my room.
"Gah!" I fell out of my bed and hit the floor, fully awake. "What do you want?"
"I want to finish our RWBYthon and take you shopping."
"For what?"
"Winter clothes. You don't have any, right?"
"I don't really need that many. . ."
"Come on, we can find some that you'll like. At least a good jacket to help maintain the appearance of no-majness and help you stay a bit warmer."
"I have cold resistance."
"I know, and that's cool-" I glared at her for the pun. "-but a jacket would definitely make it easier, right?"
I had no counterpoints. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
"Excellent! I made some breakfast and everything's ready to go."
"Alright." In a minute, I was downstairs and watching more RWBY over breakfast.
Volume 4
"Don't say it, Weiss."
"But Jennifer. . ."
"I know a robotic arm or two sounds awesome, but they're really not."
"Oh come on!"
"You'd have to take apart, clean, and maintain it with only one hand. It can rust, run out of power, get crushed, be removed, or be used to stop you with a strong magnet, none of which is a problem for natural limbs. Besides, you saw her summon a Boarbatusk, accidentally, so full summons confirmed, right?"
"Oh yeah, and that's cool. But that Jaques guy sucks."
"No argument there. Onwards!"
Volume 5
I was holding a hand over the spot that Cinder had impaled Weiss in as the volume ended. "That had to hurt."
"Sympathy pains?"
"Something like that. But summoning the full armor, and being able to control its size? That's neat."
"And she lives as well. No scar there, by the way. I'm sure you would have noticed it by now if you did. Do you have a scar there?"
"No. How did you know?"
"I was talking about the one in the show."
"Oh. That makes sense. How many more volumes?"
"Just one more full volume."
Volume 6
"That was a roller coaster."
"Up, down, all around? Yeah, it was something. But hey, giant robot vs giant grimm, right?"
"It would have been nice if they had a proper fight."
"I'm right there with ya, sis. So, are you ready to go shopping?"
"Neither of us are dressed for it."
Jennifer noticed we were still wearing our warm, fuzzy night clothes. "Ah, right. Good point. Let's get changed." Our stomachs both made similar, audible noises and we looked at the clock. "And get some supper."
"Of all the luck. . ." I muttered as I walked over to Jennifer. We were at Kohl's again, waiting for mom and dad to get off work so we could join them for supper.
"Something wrong, Weiss?"
"I can't find anything in black and purple that doesn't have some kind of super girly design."
"Well how about this one then?" Jennifer held up a white jacket with light blue sides and a low bottom half that flared out a bit. "Simple, practical, and matches your hair and eyes. It's also half off right now."
"Does it come in any other colors?"
"Well, I ruled out the red, orange, and yellow ones pretty easily. I did consider the blue one because Scientia, but then I saw this one and thought you'd like it better."
I picked out a similar jacket to the one Jennifer was holding. It had the same design, but it was black with white sides. After taking the hanger out, I tried it on and found that it fit me like a glove. The flared bottom of it was definitely a skirt, but I found that I didn't care all that much. "This one will do. Is there any other winter stuff you want to get for me?"
"They have fleece leggings on an even better discount. Those can be really nice."
"If you insist." I followed Jennifer to the leggings, and she seemed to know the size I needed already. With the help of that information, I was able to quickly pick out a few solid black pairs and lead her to the register, where I noticed she was also buying the white and blue jacket and some solid white leggings. "What are you getting those for?"
"I'm getting you some options," she explained as the items were rung up. "Besides, they match your eyes and hair better."
"How do you keep your hair white like that?" The cashier asked. "It looks pretty nice."
"I think she uses some kind of bleaching dye," Jennifer supplied. "Not that she'll let me know what it is."
"What about that scar, if you don't mind me asking?"
I answered the question. "I got it when I was learning how to walk with wedges on the stairs. I fell a lot."
"Ah. Can't say I've heard that one before."
The conversation ended there, Jennifer paid, and we were on our way out. "That was, what, twenty minutes?"
"You are too fast of a shopper, Weiss," Jennifer said as we put the new stuff in the backseat of her car. "Still, maybe they-" her phone started ringing once we sat down in the front of the car. "Well, speak of the devil. Take this, will you?"
I accepted the phone and picked up the call. "Hi, mom."
"Hey, Weiss! Are you and Jennifer still watching your show?"
"No, we just finished some shopping at Kohl's."
"That quickly?"
"Yeah."
"Weiss, put her on speakerphone," Jennifer said after backing out of the parking space.
"Okay." I switched the phone to the requested mode.
"So, did you have fun shopping?" mom asked.
"No."
"We got Weiss some winter stuff," Jennifer said. "Not much, though."
"Not that I need it to withstand the cold."
"Lucky girl," mom said. "Anyways, your dad sent me a text and he won't be able to join us for supper, so it's just us ladies tonight. How does Applebee's sound?"
"The usual one?" Jennifer asked.
"Yep."
"No objections," I added.
"I'll meet you there."
We beat mom to Applebee's, but only by a minute. She met us by the front doors. "Hi, girls. I hope I didn't keep you waiting."
"Not at all," Jennifer said. "We just got here ourselves."
"That's a nice jacket you got, Weiss."
"It was the only one there that I liked," I said.
"It's still nice." With only a minor grumble from me, we went inside. It was busy, but not overwhelmingly so, and we got a table in short order. "So, did you two do anything else? Aside from watching that show of yours."
"No, we didn't," Jennifer said. "We did miss lunch, though." At the mention of the missed meal, I felt my stomach voice its emptiness. "I think we'll be getting dessert tonight."
"That sounds good," I agreed.
"Okay, I knew you both could eat a lot, considering your education and what Jennifer's told me, but seeing it in person with both of you was something else," mom said after we finished dessert. "Weiss, what did you say when you made your order?"
"Gimme food, gimme fries, gimme salad on the side," I almost sang out, if not for a little hint of pain that was already subsiding. "Totally worth it."
"You almost couldn't hold that burger in your hands, and it's gone. Doesn't your stomach hurt?"
"No, not really."
"It's like magic," Jennifer said. "Poof! It's gone." I nodded in agreement, catching on to what she was saying.
"You two are really good at that."
"We've had practice. Is there anything else you want us to do with you?"
"Hmm, no, not right now."
"Thank goodness," I said quietly enough that neither Jennifer or mom heard me.
"You two can go do whatever it is you want to do. I'll see you at home."
