Prompt from MadHatter6660: If you're still doing prompts could you do one where daphne gets hurt (like really hurt) and the others go into "protector mode" or whatever. I trust your judgement.
….
Is wasn't the silence over the walkie-talkie that bothered them.
Daphne wasn't one to chat the entire time whilst they were split up, unlike a certain beatnick and his dog. After excelling at several self-defence and martial arts classes, if they had to split into three groups, Daphne insisted on going on her own.
When subjected to the vicious 'Blake' glare, no-one argued with her.
It was when this quiet focus was interrupted, that the rest of the gang started to panic.
"Shit." They all heard Daphne hiss over the walkie talkie, setting everyone on edge, "This is bad, this is very, very bad." Daphne's voice was barely a panicked whisper, "I'm going to try and get out of here, but- "
There was the sound of a gunshot, before everything turned to static, everyone freezing where they stood.
"D-Daphne?" Fred was the first to break the silence, clutching onto Velma's hand, "Daphne, what happened?"
From his own hiding spot, Shaggy saw the ghostly pirate that they had been chasing walk into the room. He was still trying to hear if Daphne replied over the walkie-talkie… and then he saw who the ghost was dragging along behind him, and his vision tunnelled.
Clutched in his hands, was a very familiar someone in a purple dress, one arm on her stomach, the other hanging limply. Her eyes were shut.
Shaggy felt like someone had just taken his whole world and knocked it out from under him. His eyes narrowed, and it took everything in him to resist rushing forwards.
"Rey got Raphne!" Scooby whimpered, watching as the pirate dropped her on the floor, rolling her over as both Shaggy and Scooby whimpered.
There was so much blood, Shaggy couldn't even tell where it was coming from. All he could see was red.
He'd never hated the colour so much in his life.
"Guys." He hissed into the walkie talkie, "Like, Daphne's hurt. Daphne's hurt really bad."
"We're on our way Shaggy. How badly is she hurt?"
"Like… she looks de- " Shaggy stopped.
He wouldn't have seen the movement if he hadn't been staring at Daphne's seemingly lifeless body so intently. Her head tilted to the side to face the corner where Shaggy and Scooby were hiding, her eyes opened slowly.
There was pain in them, but she was still there.
She then smiled, almost like she could see the pair hiding there, before going back to playing dead. The pirate bent down, running his sword down her cheek, before bringing it up in a stabbing motion.
In unison, there were fours cries of outrage, before the pirate disappeared until three people and a dog, all hitting and kicking until the pirate held his hands up in surrender.
"I thought you just unmasked us!" The pirate whined, "I thought you just unmasked us!"
With the pirate suitably cowered, the four turned their attention to Daphne, eyes wide in shock.
"There's… there's so m-much blood." Fred stammered, "Where did they- "
"- Side." Daphne grunted, yelping as Fred and Shaggy lifted her up, supporting her between them, "I'm glad you guys are here, because I don't think I could have- ARGH!"
"Come on." Fred then lifted her into a princess carry, "We need to get out of here before the cops arrive and find out that we beat a suspect up."
"Should we do something about him?" Velma glanced back at the whimpering pirate.
"Leave him… the police can find him."
