Prompt from SpongeAddict: If you're still taking requests, my original OTP is Shelma. I'd love something, anything with the two of them. Fluff, romance, angst/comfort, even something (a teeny bit) smutty. Wherever your imagination takes you.

….

"Like, I don't get this game at all!" Shaggy declared, slumping in his chair.

Velma picked up her knight, knocking Shaggy's bishop off the board. "It's a game of strategy, skill and insight… which you wanted to play."

"I thought it would be, like, fun!" Shaggy eyed his few remaining pieces.

"It is fun."

"Like, for you!" Shaggy slowly moved a pawn forwards, knowing that he was essentially sending the wooden soldier to his doom.

Velma winced at the downtrodden tone in her boyfriends' voice.

It didn't stop her from taking his second knight though.

He moved the pawn forwards again, "Like, I can play checkers." He tried to plead, watching as his queen was taken, "Or cards, like, we could play snap!"

She reaches out to shift her pawn forward again, the only move she's sure is safe. "I like checkers," she says, scowling as he swiftly moves his rook to claim her queen. "Or cards. Oh, we could play rummy!"

"I'm not very good at cards though."

Shaggy sighed, focusing on the board and moving his pawn forwards again, even as Velma relieved him of another bishop, castle and two pawns.

"I didn't know you could play checkers." Velma eventually spoke up, breaking the silence.

"Mm, my mum like, taught me." Shaggy beamed before moving his pawn again, until it was at the other end of the board, "Do I get a prize for that?"

"You can replace it with one of the pieces I've already taken."

"Ummmm…. Queen?"

Velma obligingly replaced the pawn with a queen, frowning at the new predicament on the board.

No matter where she moved her king, the opposing queen would capture it. With a heavy sigh, she flicked her king over.

"You win."

"Like, really?!"

Leaning over the board, Velma whispered in Shaggy's ear, "Why don't I give you a little reward?"

"A reward? What sort of- oh!"
