Brokenpaw and Twisted returned to camp, Lightpaw had finished her mouse and was heading back towards the apprentices den. Brokenpaw and Twisted took back their spots up on the tree stump, twisted kept her respected distance from him. and Brokenpaw just ate at the mouse that the two of them were sharing.
The two of them remained silent during their meal, Twisted stared out in front of her; and Brokenpaw just kept his eyes at his paws. While other cats were sharing tongues and eating with a clear conversation, mates especially.
They finished the mouse and just sat there still remaining silent; Twisted had her head held up high as she watched cats go about their daily duties. While Brokenpaw kept his head low, his reddish brown pelt barely brushing with Twisted's as he kept his eyes stared down at the ground.
Then Twisted left the stump, and Brokenpaw poked up his head as the tall black she-cat moved towards the apprentice den. Brokenpaw on the other paw just stayed up on top of the stump with his head back down on his paws.
Then he felt a cat nudge him, and he turned to look Brackenpaw in the eye. The golden brown tom waved his tail, and Brokenpaw returned the gesture as the golden brown tom sat down. "So, successful hunt huh?" he asked, his eyes still up on him.
Brokenpaw nodded his eyes down on the remains of the mouse. "Yes, very plentiful for the dawning leafbare." He answered; he picked up the remains and buried them nearby.
"That's good, you and twisted finished that mouse together?"
Brokenpaw nodded, his eyes wandering down. "Yes, it was a delicious mouse."
"Brokenpaw, you seem down; what's wrong?" Brackenpaw inquired, his head tipping to the side.
Brokenpaw's head shot up and shook. "Nothing, nothing at all is wrong," He answered, "Don't worry about me; I'm as happy as can be!"
Brackenpaw raised a eyebrow. "Really, I've never seen you so down before; save for the time before you changed your name."
Brokenpaw shook his head. "There is nothing wrong, just deep in thought." He answered.
Brackenpaw shrugged, but his eyes did not waiver as he just sat there beside him. But Brokenpaw could feel a nagging feeling in his gut, and he sighed. "Something's not right; I can't feel like I'm happy with being beside her anymore."
"Brokenpaw, sometimes you don't know when you're in love just yet, perhaps you should call it off and wait until you find your heart." Brackenpaw meowed.
Brokenpaw turned his head to say something, but he stopped himself as Twisted reappeared with a sour look on her face. but the she-cat turned and waved her tail while rolling her eyes unexpectedly. Brokenpaw rushed forward and joined her side as the she-cat began walking away from the den.
Where inside a crying cat was feeling miserable, her eyes closed.
…
Brokenpaw lay in his nest as he stared out of the den; Twisted's sleeping form just resting beside him. but Brokenpaw just stepped away and left the den towards the medicine cat den.
The bushes pushed past as he looked around, and he slowly crept in and lay next to Featherfern. Who slightly stirred and blinked her eyes. "H-huh, Brokenpaw?" she asked as her eyes focused on him.
Brokenpaw nodded, and his eyes were downcasted and stayed on his paws. "I'm having troubles sleeping." He meowed, "Something's not right here, I don't know how to put it though."
Featherfern sighed, and she rasped her tongue over his head. he purred as she treated him like a kit again. "Dear, I would love to have you in my nest again, but you need to stay in your own nest… oh what the heck, I can understand since everything that's happen."
Brokenpaw purred as he fell asleep.
