Bludhaven- April 2nd- 4:35 P.M.-

"Victoria Sinclair also known as Roulette was identified as the ringleader of the casino The House after the place was destroyed two days ago. Miss Sinclair was known for running an underground metahuman competition every year along with illegal gambling…" the voice of the reporter faded on the background as Richard was in his kitchen getting ready for the dinner he had promised Barabra. He was setting up the ingredients when he heard the door to his room open to a redhead walking out.

"You know, it can't be a surprise if you walk out just when I'm making it," he called out to Babs, who merely nodded and sat down on the couch to watch the news. "She was the one who tore it down. I'm actually surprised Roulette is still alive," he told her, barely looking up from the carrot he was chopping.

"That's what surprises you?" Babs asked, looking back at him. He was serious, his brows furrowed but not because of the cooking, for the past couple of days something had been bothering him. She could tell, after all, she knew him better than anyone else.

"Because she didn't kill everyone in sight? No, that's actually pretty normal human behavior," he answered, the wrinkles in his brow deepening. "She was impaled, a metal spike went through her body yet she was still talking, you could see into her chest. That's not human. Maybe we've been ignoring it for too long because we thought Nightshade was on our side, but who's to say Nightfall is?" he said putting aside the knife.

"Didn't she help you get out?" Babs asked. So that was the problem, she thought. Babs raised her legs and put her feet up on the couch, moving away to leave enough room for him. Richard noticed and walked over to the couch, slumping down next to her.

"This time she did, but what if the next time she decides we are in her way?" he asked. "You weren't there, she managed to take down a monster as tall as a building in just a few minutes, and those eyes. They are not normal," He continued, a shiver ran up his spine when he thought of her bloody gaze. "That's not all, Nightshade was also helping her. During the fight with Knockout, Nightshade stepped in and beat her," Richard explained, the scene playing in his mind, the different shade of hair falling on her face.

"I thought Nightshade didn't want to come out and that was why we were stuck with Nightfall? Unless that was part of the plan," she said. Richard looked confused, "think about it, Nightfall had been losing that fight, she knew she wasn't on par with Knockout's skills and you weren't in a condition to put up a fight, but Nightshade was. You said before winning, Nightfall raised the bet, right?" she asked.

"Yeah, but that's only because...wait, Nightfall knew Nightshade would finish the fight!" he said finally understanding what she was getting to.

"From the beginning, Nightfall and Nightshade had planned to take down Knockout together, Nightfall just needed to disable the net first," Babs explained.

"That still doesn't change the fact that Nightfall is dangerous," said Richard leaning back on the couch.

"Yeah, but there's always Nightshade. She seems to be able to keep Nightfall in check," Barbara reasoned, reaching out to grab his hand. "I think we can trust Nightshade, can't we?" she asked.

"We'll see," he said taking back his hand. "I'm a little tired today, sorry I can't cook for you. You don't mind if I can't take you home today?" he asked already halfway through the door to his room.

"Right," said Barbara who was left alone in his living room with nothing but the sound of the TV. At that moment, Barbara could feel a small thing, a small part of their relationship break, it was an empty feeling that she didn't know how to describe, there had been no yelling, no shouting, just a small crack had formed.

"Wally, what are you doing?" Artemis and Miss Martian walked in on Wally and Garfield scribbling on the cave's computer.

"We are doing a comparison chart for Nightshade and Nightfall," Wally answered not even looking back at the girls. "Oh right, Nightfall heals faster than Nightshade," he told Gar, who scribbled it on the computer.

"Okay, let me change the question. Why are you doing that?" Artemis asked.

"I'm trying to convince Gar that even though they look like the same person, they are not," he answered. "They can't be," he said, more to himself than to anyone else.

"You're still doing that?" Robin asked. He had been training with Aqualad in the training room while Wally and Garth messed around. "Of course they are the same person. Jade Collins is Jade Collins, no matter how you try to put it," He told them.

"Kid, you've been with us for like two months. You don't know Nightshade well enough to say that," Superboy told him. They all turned around to see him and Rocket walked into the room.

"Can you say that you do know her? You've been doing that chart for two hours and you've come up with six things and you put a question mark after good. It doesn't seem like you know her all that well either," Robin snapped. "I mean you've seen them both kill a bunch of people before, it seems to me like there's no difference there."

"I think he's right," Miss Martian cut into the conversation. "We've been with Nightshade for years, yet none of us know that much about her."

"Then we find someone that does," Wally interrupted her, a silence filled the room, it looked like he was really hurt by the conversation. "Huntress for example."

The Watchtower- April 5th- 3:20 P.M.-

"You want me to what?" Huntress had been caught off guard, she was just sitting in the Watchtower's lounge room when the team had walked in and started asking her about Nightshade and Nightfall. It was Kid Flash, Beast Boy, Miss Martian, Superboy, Artemis, Rocket, Zatanna, Aqualad, Batgirl, Nightwing and they had even managed to drag Robin over.

"Tell us everything you know about Nightshade." Kid Flash asked. Huntress blinked, but she set her drink down and told them to take a seat. The group did and intently listened to her. She told them some things they already knew like how Jade had ended up with the Light and then how she had moved on with Lance, Skye, and Camille. "No, we know that. We want to know about Jade," he said.

"Oh, well this is new. I can only tell you some things I picked up while she was my partner, but there isn't much more I can say. Let's see…" she thought for a moment before answering, "Jade was very young when she was adopted into the Collins family, and she was very young when she lost them, but have you noticed that Nightshade is afraid of heights?" they nodded. "Well, that's because when she was with the Collins family, they took her to see some circus show, the main act was this acrobatic performance. She was fascinated by it, but then the performers fell seems like someone had messed with their equipment. After that, Jade couldn't handle heights, but here is the interesting part though. Nightfall is not that bothered by it, sure she would like to be closer to the ground, but it's not as paralyzing as with Nightshade," she finished. Batgirl and Kid Flash looked over at Nightwing, but he just stared at Huntress. If what she was saying was right, then Jade had been at the circus the night his parents had died.

"You mean their personality traits just split?" Zatanna asked. Huntress nodded.

"That's what I think, Nightshade and Nightfall are just two sides of the same coin. Jade Collins is both of them together. I understand why you kids are curious about her, but you must understand that she's been through a lot. Those experiments that they did were usually long and painful, Vandal Savage was in charge of those; he was the one that had a say on what came next. Those types of things are bound to leave psychological scars," she finished.

"But if Nightshade came after all that, how come she talks about it like it was her that experienced all that?" Artemis asked.

"Nightshade and Nightfall have shared memories, sometimes when some of those memories have a high emotional charge, they would get them mixed up. It also happens with Nightfall, Nightshade's memories pour-over and she feels like she lived them," Huntress explained. "Listen, I'm not justifying anything either one of them have done, but it's not like they haven't done anything to make up for it. Though she still remains in our most-wanted list," Huntress told them. She was then called by Superman and had to leave behind a dissatisfied group.

"What now?" Asked Robin.

"Now, we look for someone that knew Nightfall, not Nightshade," Aqualad answered.

"What do you mean, we look for Luthor or something?" Batgirl asked.

"What about poison Ivy?" Miss Martian suggested. They thought back to the times Nightshade had encountered Poison Ivy and since they were on pretty bad terms, it was doubtful she would be willing to say anything.

"Catwoman?" said Rocket, "Last time at the Wayne gala they seemed to get along," she remembered.

"Oh, what about Harley Quinn?" Kid Flash asked, "sure, she's tried to kill her a couple of times, but it always seems playful?" he wondered out loud.

"How about we split up, one team looks for Harley and the other one looks for Catwoman?" Aqualad suggested.

"Dibs on Catwoman," said Kid Flash standing with Batgirl and Nightwing, Robin and Artemis.

New York City, Queens- 9:55 P.M.-

Aqualad, Miss Martian, Superboy, Zatanna, Beast Boy, and Rocket had located Harley Quinn inside a nightclub, they went in disguise with Beat Boy as a fly who let them know Harley was in the back. The group moved towards where Harley was, but once they saw her, she immediately threw herself at Superboy and Aqualad.

"Aren't ya a couple of good looking pieces of meat!" she squealed, once she got close enough to Superboy's face, Miss Martian used her powers to pull her away and into a corner. "Well, that hurt! Who are ya?" she asked getting up from the ground. Without answering, Miss Martian's eyes turned a glowing green and she tried to enter Harley's mind forcing her to the ground.

"M'gann," Superboy said, but the music muffled his voice as well as Harley's painfull screams mixed with laughter. "M'gann!" Superboy yelled finally getting her attention. Miss Martian stopped and released Harley. Rocket and Aqualad lifter her up and took her out of the club through the back door where the rest followed.

"Oh, I would usually say that that was fun, but that really hurt," said Harley leaning against the wall. "Are ya friends with Nighty Night? I'm just guessing because that's what meany over there was looking for," she told them.

"We want to know what you know about Nightfall," Zatanna told her, making sure to keep her distance from Harley.

"And why would I tell ya?"

"Because you consider her a friend, in your own twisted way, and she's our friend," Miss Martian told her. Harley smiled at the word and then just slumped over on the ground.

"Ask away then," she said.

"How did you become acquainted with Nightfall?" Aqualad asked.

"You talk funny. Nighty Night was sent to kill me once, but the clutz ended up saving me from Black Mask. I don't know why she changed her mind though, but she hasn't tried to kill me again, no matter how much I provoke her," she answered, a little saddened at the end. "She was very different back then, always had this hurt look on her face like she didn't want to be there."

"What do you mean," Beast Boy asked.

"Well, when I met Nighty Night she was really inexperienced ya know? She said Ra's al Ghul was training her to be better, even Deathstroke was chipping in for her training. But she always had bruises all over her body and was always tired, she used to say that Luthor would make her study all sorts of things, history, math, business. As a former psychiatrist, I can tell ya, that's not good for a child her age," she was interrupted by Zatanna.

"How old was she?"

"Maybe 10, she still hadn't dyed her hair that horrible red shade," Harley answered. At that point, it had become clear to them that the Light had broken her bit by bit, both physically and mentally. "Not only that, but she also said that Queen Bee and some Brain guy were teaching her tactical skills and that Klarion the something something Boy was training her to control her powers. Oh boy, when I found out about those I almost peed myself. She's scary, and it only got worse when she dyed her hair, she was colder, angrier but still very, very tired," said Harley, "you can't fool me, I know Nighty Night, all those emotions she has are always trying to hide how tired she is. If you're her friends, you should watch out for that, people that have no will to live, tend to do dangerous things," she finished.

"What are you talking about?" asked Rocket.

"Nighty Night has nothing to live for. For example, I have Mr. J and I'm sure you all have something you want to do or people you want to see, but Nighty Night doesn't, she's very detached," Harley stood up, "I mean, that's why it's not surprising that she does all the stupid things she does. Though I didn't feel that the last time I saw her, she seemed less tired, and even though she said that her hair color wouldn't change, she went back to her normal color. I wonder what she used?" Harley derailed the conversation. "Well, I think that's enough. I have a bottle with my name on it!" she said and started to walk towards the door.

"Harley! Thank you," Rocket yelled.

"Not a problem, I can see that some of you really like Nighty Night. Look out for her," she said and walked in.

"That went surprisingly well," said Zatanna.

"Which part? The one where we learned that Jade Collins is really just an innocent victim or the one where we've been ignoring that she's also very lonely?" Rocket asked as the group fell silent. It wasn't until a few minutes later that the silence was interrupted by Harley walking out of the club and towards a bike parked outside.

"What are the chances that's hers?" asked Garfield, breaking the tension. The team started walking away, but Superboy stopped Miss Martian.

"This can't go on," he told her.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"I can't be with you if you can't understand how much it hurts me seeing you use your powers the way you do," he told her. "I think we should take some time off from each other, I need some time off from this," he finished.

"So this is it? You're breaking up with me?" She asked, tears streaming down her face. Superboy stayed quiet, but that was all she needed.

New York City, Manhattan- 9:55 P.M.-

The rest of the team had been following Catwoman, they had found her in the middle of robbing a safe in a rich woman's apartment, so they were now jumping through buildings, chasing after her. Kid Flash had caught up to her, but the woman had managed to drive him into a corner, making him bump his head against an open window.

"You kids never get tiring to watch," she said after Kid Flash fell to the ground. This time, Robin and Nightwing were the oned closer to catching up with her, both of them using grappling hooks. Nightwing fired his up ahead and with the grace of a ballet dancer, he landed in front of her, stopping her. Robin and the others caught up shortly after.

"Nice moves, maybe you could teach me some time," said Catwoman getting closer to him.

"We just want to ask you about Nightfall," Kid Flash cut in between her and Nightwing.

"Oh?" she simply said. "Why?"

"Well, we know you're close, if you can call it that," said Artemis. Before Catwoman could say anything, a young voice interrupted their conversation.

"The Flying Graysons!" Exclaimed a young teen, he looked to be around 13 to 14 years old, dark hair, light blue eyes. Everyone stopped talking as soon as they heard that, Nightwing looked over at the kid, his eyes widened, thankfully he was wearing a mask.

"What?" Nightwing asked out loud.

"Richard Grayson of the Flying Graysons! That quadruple aerial somersault is the same as the one in my Dad's tape of your act!" the kid explained excitedly. "So, if you are Richard Grayson, then that means Batman must be Bruce Wayne, no way! This is so wild!" The kid continued talking. The team stared at each other, unsure of what to do now, but then they remembered who they were after. They turned around to see Catwoman had already left and was nowhere to be seen.

"Who are you?" Batgirl asked.

"Tim Drake, and you must be Barabra Gordon," he said eyeing Robin, his next victim.

New York City, Bronx- 9:55 P.M.-

Huntress had tracked Nightfall down to The Bronx she had found her sitting on the ledge of a building looking down into the window of another apartment building.

"I can't help but think that it's unfair, they ended up together with kids of their own," she said, a hand on her cheek, her expression a mixture of satisfaction and sadness.

"Well, it's not like the Collin's weren't a good family, right?" said Huntress coming up from behind her and sitting down on the ledge next to her.

"Yeah, you're right, they were good," Nightfall answered. "That only makes it even more unfair," she said.

"They were asking about you," said Huntress. "I told them everything I knew, well not about your soft side," she finished.

"That's okay, Nightshade has most of it anyway," Said Nightfall watching the family close the curtains, blocking her view. "I think I understand what happened back then. More than power, when Faust asked what I wanted...I wanted to rest. Those two things might have gotten mixed up, and then...Nightshade was there and I was not," she said. Huntress ran her hand up and down her back, she knew more than anyone just how much had Jade been through.

"Why are the kids asking about you?" Catwoman broke the silence. "They were chasing me up until now," she explained.

"I honestly don't know," answered Nightfall. It was at times like this when she seemed to revert back to a little child.

"They are trying to understand you, they are good kids. But to go as far as to look for you? They are really going above and beyond, huh?" said Huntress. "Jade, how long are you planning on hiding from them?"

"Yeah, that's so not like you. I thought you would have been up there telling them to mind their own fucking business or something," Catwoman said sitting down on the ledge with them. "By the way, the funniest thing happened just now to former Bird Boy," Catwoman started but was cut off by Nightfall's phone going off. She looked at the screen and with a surprised look, she answered.

"Nighty Night, can ya tell me why yer friends cornered me at a club?" The familiar voice with the Brooklyn accent asked.

"They got you too, Harley?" she asked.

"See? Above and beyond," Huntress repeated.

"Seriously, even Harley?" Catwoman leaned back and moved closer to Nightfall to hear the conversation. Harley complained that the team had cornered her and she was forced to leave the club.

"We're hanging out in The Bronx if you want to drop by," said Nightfall a little tired of hearing her complain.

"Be there in five," Harley answered rather cheerfully. They didn't have to wait much for Harley, after exactly five minutes, she showed up on the roof. "Wow, what an odd group," she voiced what everyone was thinking. The four of them sat down on the roof and talked for some time, about what had just happened with Nightwing and the team; of course, Catwoman didn't name names in front of Harley, but they all laughed none the less. They talked about some old missions and old encounters between them, Harley even told them about Task Force X when Nightshade was in Belle Reve.

"So, what did you do after that?" Huntress asked.

"Nightshade let them go, she disabled the bomb and they left, but she went back to Belle Reve," Nightfall told them. "Stayed there until Faust decided to be an idiot," she finished and looked at her watch. "I think it's about time I leave," she said breaking the silence that had formed.

"You're going home?" Catwoman asked.

"No, I think it's time for Nightshade to come back, I'm not used to being in charge for this long. Plus, there's something she has to do," she said taking out a cigarette.

"That thing's gonna kill ya," Harley told her watching her leave a trail of smoke as she walked.

"Well, something has to, right?" she answered and disappeared from the rooftop.

"She's not talking about the cigarette," Catwoman said, but Nightfall was already gone.
