Hello Descendants Lovers! I'm back! Sorry, it took so long but as you may have read in my last hiatus, there was a lot of bad stuff happening. Things have settled down with my little brother, so thank God for that. He was released from the hospital a few weeks ago. It is still an adjustment for him and my family, but we are all getting through it together. Thank you for all who prayed and waited for me. It does mean a lot to me.
Unfortunately, things are still a little bit crazy right now. Between my little brother's recent illness and my job, it's been nuts. Some other unexpected events have happened over these past weeks, but please know that I am trying my best. I hope I don't have to put you guys through any more hiatus like I have been doing. I never wanted to do that, but life happens, and you never know what can happen. But you have to deal with it.
And also, since I've been gone, I have something else to say. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
With all that being said, let's get back to the story!
Evie retreated to her room after her discussion with Ben and Carlos. She thought about what she had said about putting people in danger, especially Jane. Evie then knew that there was something she had to do: she had to talk to Jane. Evie grabbed her phone and looked in her contacts to find Jane's name. When she found it, she began to have second thoughts. She hesitated to hit the call button, but before she knew it, the line was ringing.
She probably won't answer. The last person she would want to talk to is me. After what I did to her, I wouldn't want to talk to me either.
"Hello?" Jane's voice rang on the other end of the phone.
"Hi, Jane," Evie said, trying to stop her voice from sounding shaky.
"Evie, hi. How are you doing?" Jane said in a friendly tone.
"I've been better," Evie confessed before taking in a deep breath. "Look, Jane, we need to talk about what happened."
"Yeah, we do. My mother said I should talk to you when you were up to it, but I didn't know when that was."
"Yeah."
"I can come over there if you want."
"That would be nice."
"Okay, I'll be right over."
"Okay, bye," Evie ended the call and placed her phone in her jacket's pocket. She sat on her bed and let out a nervous sigh. She wasn't exactly sure what to say to Jane. She hoped that it would be the right thing.
Soon, a knock came at the door, and Jane entered slowly. "Evie?"
"Hi, Jane," Evie said as Jane crept over my Evie and sat at the edge of her bed.
Both girls were silent for a moment. "Look, I'm sorry about what I did to you. I just, I didn't really know what I was doing, you know? I mean I did, but..."
"Evie, it's okay," Jane cut Evie off by placing her hand on Evie's. "Carlos told me everything, about how your mother put a spell on you to make you think you were evil. I knew it wasn't you. And no harm was done."
"I know, but..."
"Evie, don't worry. All is forgiven. I'm not angry and neither is my mom. We're both glad that you are okay. After what you did to save Auradon, you really had me worried."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Evie, you're my friend. And I've known you long enough to know that you would never hurt me or anyone here. You're the kindest person I know."
"Thank you, Jane. That makes me feel better. And I'm glad you're okay," Evie smiled as she gripped Jane's hand. Jane formed a smile. "So, are we good?"
"Yeah, we're good," Jane said with a nod. Evie let out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a noise alerted Jane of a text message. She looked at her phone to see it was a message from her mom. "Oh, it's my mom. I gotta go," Jane said as she stood up from the bed and walked toward the door. "See you at the party!"
Evie's smile disappeared at the mention of the party. It was in two days. But she had already made up her mind that she wasn't going. She got up from the bed and took another look at the dress she had made for Mal for the party. She was very proud of it and herself for making it look so good. She hoped that Mal would like it and would enjoy herself at the party.
Evie's thoughts were interrupted when Mal barged in their room. "Evie, what is this I hear that you're not going to the party?"
"Well, that was quick on Ben's part," Evie simply said.
"So, just like that? You're not going?" Mal said in disbelief.
"I can't go after everything that happened, Mal. Everyone hates me for what I did," Evie sat back on her bed.
"Not everyone," Mal said as she joined Evie.
"Yes, everyone."
"Oh, Evie. When are you going to stop blaming yourself? We've gone through this," Mal sat up on her knees and took Evie's hands. "What happened was not your fault. You had no way of stopping it. And what matters is what you did to stop the villains and save the kingdom."
Evie looked down with a defeated sigh. She felt Mal's hand under her chin to have her face her again. "Evie, you were willing to give your life to save everyone. That makes you a hero. And if the kingdom can't see that, then they don't know the definition of a true hero."
Evie knew Mal was right. She knew there was so sense in arguing with Mal because Mal would always win. "Thanks, M. Oh, and thanks for sticking by me, even after all that happened."
"That what family does. We stick together, no matter what," Mal firmly squeezed Evie's hands.
Evie formed a smile and soon found herself wrapped in Mal's arms. She rested comfortably in Mal's embrace. "What would I do without you?"
"You'll always have me."
Well, it looks likes things are finally looking up for Evie. Mal was able to convince Evie not to blame herself anymore. But can the kingdom be convinced too? Find out in the next update!
