Thank you everyone for continuing to read this story! I hope I do justice for it at the end! I appreciate all the time and effort everyone has put into reading and commenting, etc. on this story! I have enjoyed writing it!
Also, I ended up listening to a song on repeat while I wrote this chapter. . Idk if it actually fits the chapter, but it sorta set the mood for it. It's called Lovesongs by Cinema Bizarre. . I actually heard it first on an amv for Crowley and Ferid from Seraph of the End!
Warning: There is a lemon in this chapter. Much like the previous one, Laito doesn't wait for consent. I'll mark the start and end of it with a line, so please use caution when you read that part.
Thank you everyone! Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like!
Enjoy!
Her eyes flutter open to meet glowing green ones. Laito's hair falls around his face while he smiles down at her. His arms cage her against the bed, but she can't find the desire to care. This has happened before. More times than she can count. She closes her eyes just when his lips touch hers. The thick liquid gets easier to down each time it happens.
Why is he doing this? She wonders that every time she swallows. He bites his tongue until it bleed, then he coats her mouth in his taste. She vaguely wonders if he's marking his territory like an alley cat or a dog. She stopped resisting his tongue after the second time this happened. This time is no different. Her lips part for him, and the pleasant taste coats her mouth before she slips back into unconsciousness.
The cycle repeats over and over. She's never awake for long, but Laito is always there when she does awaken. Sometimes it's his blood she ingests; other times it's water he feeds her. She's not sure why he switches from time to time, but she can't get her tongue to cooperate. Due to that reason, she isn't able to actually ask him. The water doesn't fully satisfy her thirst, but it does help to ease it to bearable levels. Whenever he feeds her the water, he will settle behind her. Her head rests on his shoulder limply, and he guides the half full cup to her mouth.
He always whispers in her ear, but she only hears every other word due to her sleep ridden mind. She can't focus long enough to make sense of what he's saying. It doesn't matter. She's positive it's nothing more than lies anyway.
He always lies to her. She hates to admit it, but she's known from the start he's a liar. Yet, she let herself get swept away under his current. She let herself fall under his spell, and it has brought her nothing but pain.
Her dreams are always plagued by memories. She remembers each encounter she has had with the women in white. Each time, she watches the events unfold with a new perspective, as if she's a spectator looking in on a drama. The fear and pain she always felt is no longer present. This allows her to actually see the women for the first time. Some of them wear pain filled looks, while others seem desperate for her to hear them. There is a common theme between them all though. One she missed every time. Every single woman bears a look of concern in the eyes that are visible. They seem to be speaking to her; no, crying out desperately. Mai never hears them, though. Their energy has been wasted on her. The thought makes Mai sick to her stomach. There were so many red flags right from the start. Clear warning signs; yet, she ignored every single one of them. The women always fade before her eyes, and she never gets to see that particular woman again. As time wears on, she starts seeing past memories. Times when she would have fun with Yui, or friends she had made in the past.
People she will never get to connect with again.
Even Yui will be different.
Mai's eyes slowly open up to meet a familiar wall. This time feels different than the previous times she had groggily awoken from her slumber. Her body feels rested, and she feels more alert. Her eyes travel over the wall across from her, as if she expects it to look different. Laito's scent fills her nose, but she doesn't care. She expected to wake up in his bed, since it's where she has been ever since her weird sleeping cycle started. A thick comforter rests against her chin, and she's lying on her side in the fetal position. Her stomach grumbles, but she's warm and comfortable. The thought of climbing out of bed isn't appealing at all. She closes her eyes in an attempt to fall back asleep.
I understand why Shuu never wants to leave his bed. She shifts a little in an effort to get comfortable. Her leg bumps into something, drawing her attention. She knows she should be upset or frustrated, but she finds herself still feeling a little numb from everything that has happened.
Besides it's not the first time she's awoken beside the red haired vampire. Why should she react any different this time? She carefully rolls onto her back in order to turn her gaze to Laito. His back is to her, and his body is incredibly still. Her eyes watch him for a moment before she turns her gaze toward the ceiling. She watches the inanimate for a short time before she decides she has to get up. Her bladder is practically screaming at her anyway, along with her stomach. She slowly folds the blanket back, checking on Laito every so often. She doesn't feel like dealing with him right now. In fact, she needs time to collect her thoughts before he starts bombarding her. Slowly, she sits up and swings her legs over the edge of the bed. Everything feels surreal to her, like she's looking through the eyes of someone else. Her gaze sweeps over the room, but it isn't as dim as it used to be. Her eyes can see everything in sharp detail, as if it were sunny inside the room. Her heart sinks to the pit of her stomach.
It isn't a dream, is it? Her eyes turn to look at the bathroom door. It's cracked open a little, allowing her to see the edge of the vanity. She pushes herself to her feet, only to be met with a wave of dizziness. She fights through it until she makes it to the end of the bed, where she is able to grip the frame. Her body feels strangely light, but oddly heavy as well. She closes her eyes; willing the dizziness away. After what feels like an eternity passes, she's finally able to actually open her eyes and walk toward the bathroom on unsteady legs. It feels as if there is a huge hole in her heart. A hole she wasn't even aware was there to begin with. Everything around feels so silent. Had those women been with her for everything? Had she never been alone, even when she felt like she was?
The very thought leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. She never suffered alone. Her feet find cool tile, and she stops before the vanity. Her eyes lift from the countertop to peer into the mirror. She finds her own tired reflection looking back at her. For a moment, she's startled by it. She fully expected something to be different in her appearance, but she doesn't see anything right away.
Hope threatens to fill her. Maybe… just maybe Cordelia was wrong? Mai leans over the counter, bringing her face closer to the mirror. She hesitates for a moment before her fingers lift to touch her bottom lip. Does she really want to check? Does she even want to know?
WIth a deep breath, she decides she has to know. Her finger touches her upper lip starting to lift it up and out of the way, much like one would do to check an animal's teeth. Without warning, a hand catches her wrist, startling her. She releases a gasp, but she relaxes when she sees who is holding her. His free arm tightly wraps around her waist, pulling her back into his chest. His face presses into the crook of her neck. The grip on her wrist loosens, but it doesn't release her. She shudders when his breath brushes against her skin. His hair tickles her jaw lightly, making her shudder. She feels his chest vibrate her back when he chuckles.
"It seems like you're actually awake now."
His voice is muffled against her skin, but it still shakes her to the core. She has so many questions. In seconds, reality seems to crash around her. Her body immediately starts to wiggle against him, causing him to release another chuckle. The feeling of teeth raking over her skin sends a shiver down her spine, but it's not fear she feels. His grip hasn't tightened, but he isn't letting her go either. She closes her eyes tightly. "Don't, Laito."
Her voice is raspy and weak. It makes her throat ache, too. She slowly opens her eyes to look at her reflection. Her eyes watch the top of Laito's head with a light dusting of pink across her cheeks. Is this her reality now? Is she stuck at Laito's side forever? She feels his hands move to rest on her hips. Her head spins when he twists her hips with violent jerk. She doesn't bother resisting. He swings her body to face him. Her butt presses against the edge of the counter, while Laito presses his body tightly against hers. He leans in once more pressing his face against her neck. She can hear him inhaling softly, and goosebumps form over her arms.
This feels too surreal to actually be happening. She no longer fears him. It almost feels like he isn't some supernatural monster. He just ...feels like anyone else. She glances down at the top of his head. Everything around her feels wrong. Tears well up in her eyes. Temporarily blinded by her swimming vision, she doesn't realize the tears are running down her face until Laito pulls away from her. He uses his grip on her hips to lift her body and rest her on the edge of the counter. He easily slips between her legs, since she doesn't bother resisting. It has never helped her, and she has a feeling it will never help her. She lifts a hand to her face and presses her wrist against one side of her face. She turns her head away from him. A whimper tears out her throat, and that's all it takes for her to break down.
The tears start to fall with no sign of stopping. She flinches when something wet touches her cheek and tries to jerk back, but Laito's hand tangles in her hair, effectively keeping her from moving. She tries to turn her face away, but he yanks on her hair, clearly warning her to not make any movements. In response to his cruel behavior, she releases a painful whimper, but it's wasted on him. He doesn't seem to care. His voice is almost a low growl when he whispers. "You're crying face is such a turn on."
Her hands slam into his chest. He grunts and stumbles back. A cold look flashes over his face, but she ignores it. She glares at him through her tears and snarls. "You took everything from me! How can you possibly say something so crude at a time like this?!"
He tilts his head, gaining a thoughtful look. The silence is broken by her sniffles, and she wipes at her face with her hands. He finally starts to chuckle and approaches slowly, like a cat stalking its prey. She casts a cold glare at him and swats at him, but he catches her wrist before she connects. She attempts to yank her limb away, but he keeps a tight grip on her. Without warning, her back is arched backwards at an uncomfortable angle. Her head rests against the mirror, while both wrists are pinned beside her head. The entire situation is uncomfortable, painful and awkward. The faucet is digging into her back, but that's the least of her worries. She wiggles, but all it does is bring her hips closer to his as he settles between her legs. He leans over her in a very intimidating manner. She can see the fury in his playful green eyes, and she halts all movement. She watches him silently for a few seconds, and a tingle of fear races up her spine. What's even more frightening than the look in his eyes is the fact he isn't saying a single thing, and she finds it hard to open her mouth as a result. The position starts to make her muscles ache, and she feels as if she might bruise if the faucet continues digging into her. She swallows hard and works up the courage to quietly ask. "How is Yui?"
He tilts his head again before he chuckles. He leans closer, though she's not sure how it's even possible. Now, she has to deal with his weight as well as her own on the faucet, making it even more painful than before. She closes her eyes expecting to feel his lips against hers, but it never comes. Instead, she feels his lips brush the tip of her nose then her eyes. His breath tickles her eyelashes when he says. "You want your reward without dealing with your punishment first? What kind of naughty girl, are you?"
At those words, Mai feels her stomach sink. She slowly opens her eyes to find his face inches from hers. He shifts her wrists into one hand, pinning them over her head. She jerks when she feels his fingers slide up her hip and into her shirt. Her mouth falls open, and she releases an awkward sound. His body continues to lean over hers while his fingers travel further up her shirt. Her eyes widen suddenly when she realizes something. The last thing she remembers wearing is the ballroom gown. She wiggles a little as Laito's lips gently brush her windpipe. Her head leans back, and her thoughts begin to race. She can feel the material of Laitos pants rubbing against her bare legs. She feels his fingers brush over the side of her breast, and her eyes closed. Every muscle tenses to the point of pain. She had been so preoccupied looking for an obvious difference in her appearance that she hadn't realized she isn't wearing the dress anymore. How long has she been out? As if reading her thoughts, Laito whispers against the skin of her neck. "I've been waiting patiently for you to wake up for two weeks."
He draws back to smile coldly down at her, but Mai pays him no mind. She has been asleep for two weeks?! What about school?! The ball?! Her parents?!
What about Yui?! Cordelia? Ayato? She feels his nose trace her jaw and shudders. He whispers softly. "Alright, you win. For being so cute, I'll give you a reward. I have just the present in mind for you."
He pulls his body away from hers and spins on his heel to walk away. Mai warily watches him go before she shudders when remembering the cold look on his face. There is no way she's following him. He pauses in the doorway and turns to look at her. He smiles that cold dangerous smile, and she tenses. He tilts his head like a puppy, and his eyes rake over her prone body. "I can think of a million other things to do than this, but I promised someone I would bring you the second you woke up."
Confusion and hope clash with the clear warning bell in her mind. Does he mean Yui? The thought is tempting enough to make her consider following him. He makes a come here gesture. His usual playful behavior returning, and she feels a sense of ease fill her body. Once again, his eyes rake over her body. She shudders and hurries to slide off the counter, flinching when the faucet scrapes her back. She glances over her shoulder at the mirror one last time to find herself in one of Laito's long sleeved, striped shirts. It barely reaches her bare thighs, and she can see panties peeking out from beneath the shirt. Her face flushes a deep red. She'll need to change before she goes to meet anyone. Before she loses her courage, she curls her lips back in a fake snarl. It feels like cold water has been poured over her at the sight of her sharp fangs.
It's real. No wonder everything feels different. She isn't feeling them as a human anymore.
A large hand wraps around her wrist, and she finds herself being drug from the room before she can even think to protest. Her face darkens when Laito pulls her down the hallway. "Laito, let me cha-"
He casts an innocent look over his shoulder. "Why? You don't like wearing my clothes? I'm so hurt. And here I thought they looked good on you."
Her eyes widen, and she flushes an even deeper red. "That's beside the point! What if someone se-?!"
He twists suddenly, drawing her close with an arm around her waist. He leans down into her face with a mischievous grin. "It's about noon. My brothers are asleep, though if you keep hollering like this one of them is bound to wake up. Likely Subaru, since we are near his room, and he's a light sleeper anyway. Possibly Reiji."
He leans closer, causing her to lean as far away as possible. He chuckles into her ear. "Or are you wanting that to happen? I know you enjoy Subaru's company. Aren't you happy you get spend an eternity with him?"
Tears well up in her eyes again, and she stubbornly turns her face away from his. He waits for a response that will never come. After minutes of silence, he decides to continue on their journey. He leads her down to the main level, then even further. Mai feels chills spread throughout her body. She has faint memories of the dungeons, but they feel like they happened a lifetime ago. She spares Laito a glance, wondering if he plans to torture her again. Her horror continues to mount when he stops before an unmarked door. The smile he sends her makes her blood run cold. She wants to turn and run, but she finds herself rooted to the spot. Why did she follow him? Has she really given up on herself that much?
The door practically screams when the rusty hinges open, and she's assaulted by a strange smell. She lifts her hand to cover her nose, but it does little to help. She can't decide if it's a horrible smell or a delicious one. Laito's body is in the way, so she's unable to see what's inside the room. He happily steps into the room then to the side. He turns to give her an expectant look, but her body is frozen with wide eyes. Chained to one wall is someone she never expected to see again. His body is bloody and bruised. His white hair has been dyed a reddish black due to dried blood. His furious eyes lift to glare at those who interrupted his pain. His eyes lock with hers, and she sees the same sneer she had seen at the party.
"Shi….ro…." Her voice is barely a whisper. Her throat starts to scratch, but she's able to ignore it thanks to her shock. Laito releases an excited sound and drifts closer to the human, making the boy shy away. Laito finds some kind of sick pleasure in this and releases a delighted laugh. Mai's body moves before she can even think about it. "Wait, Laito!"
His green eyes turn to her, and she once again sees the dead look he's had since Cordelia arrived. Every fine hair on her body instantly stands on end. She steps closer to Laito, fighting the sick feeling that continues to build. "Is Cordelia still…..?"
He makes a frustrated clicking sound with his tongue before he turns his cold, dead eyes back to Shiro. Mai feels her body stiffen at the look he's giving Shiro. He looks like he wants to kill him!
She quickly moves to Laito's side. The second her hand touches his arm, he seems to wake up. His green gaze turns back to meet hers. She watches him transform from the cold monster back to his playful self. He leans down, stealing a kiss from her. She jumps when she hears Shiro snarl like a wounded animal. Her gaze turns to meet his battered face. Despite everything he has done, she still feels a strange desire to protect him. Yui's possibly gone, and she's no longer human. She can't put her finger on the exact reason, but she wants to at least try. She returns her gaze to Laito. She offers him a weak smile, but it fades when she sees an expectant look on his face.
The mention of a gift comes back to her, and she feels her body stiffen. Her stomach twists painfully, and she turns to look down at Shiro once more. He can't….
He can't mean that he had gotten Shiro as a gift for her, can he?!
Shiro's a human being! He has rights! She jumps when she feels Laito's arms encircle her waist, drawing her close to his body. She shudders hard when he whispers. "My gift to you. I promised you that I'd drive the last shreds of humanity from your body. You've only got a little further to go."
Her mouth feels dry, and her stomach sits heavy. Her eyes find Shiro's furious gaze. She wonders why he isn't saying anything, but she spots a gag in his mouth. She feels Laito's nose run through her hair and shivers. She attempts to draw away, but he refuses to let her go. "Laito…."
He whispers. "My gift to you. He's hurt you, has he not?"
"You have too," Mai breathlessly says. There is no way she can do what he is implying. She feels Laito's body shudder against hers, and he chuckles. "You've hurt me more than he ever has."
Laito draws back with an amused look on his face. Mai's eyes narrow a little, and she searches for the haunting look in those green orbs. Much to her relief, she doesn't find it. He playfully tilts his head at her. "Sweetheart, you're still stubbornly clinging to the idea you'll escape."
His voice deepens, and he leans closer. "You're mine. Now, do as you're told. This is your punishment."
Defiance fills her, and Mai shakes her head slowly. "No. I won't."
He sighs, but it's obvious he's enjoying himself. He releases her so suddenly she stumbles. A sinking feeling fills her when she sees him beginning to stalk around the room. Green eyes lazily flick between Shiro and her. Finally, a playful laugh leaves him, and she begins to relax. It's almost feels like the old Laito is back. He stops across the room from her. His eyes glow a vivid green, and she feels her skin tingle. That look always meant he's going to bite her. She braces herself, ready for the pain. This action just seems to amuse him further. He says softly. "Reiji's poison worked on Cordelia, but Yui has that bitch's heart in her chest."
Mai feels numb as she listens. Once again, Laito starts to stalk around the room, being careful to keep out of reach of both Mai and Shiro. Mai's gaze follows Laito's every move, though Shiro only watches Mai. Laito chuckles gently and says. "Ayato was livid, but Reiji already planned ahead. He figured something like this would happen. He was waiting for the right time to join us. Cordelia's not gone. She never will be. She's a part of Yui, and Ayato will be damned if he'll let anyone kill Yui. She's in a deep sleep Reiji is positive she'll never wake from."
Mai watches him stop just out of her reach. Her breath hitches, and she opens her mouth to ask more questions. Unfortunately, all that comes out is a choking sound. Laito's smile increasingly becomes more sadistic. Mai feels a shudder work it's way down her spine. He steps closer to her. His fingers lift to run gently through her bed head. She feels his fingers catch knots, but he pauses to work them out with his fingers. "You have so many questions you don't know where to start, right my little love?"
She can only numbly nod her head. He rocks back, seeming to enjoy himself. A tendril of irritation fills her body, and an uneasy silence settles over them. After a few suffocating minutes, she opens her mouth to attempt her questioning. "My parents?"
He snorts softly and says. "Studying abroad, like before. I can guarantee you won't see them for a while. My father has convinced them you wanted to stay."
There is a bitterness in his tone that tells her this is a touchy subject. She licks her lips softly and decides to change the subject. "Yui is…. Ok?"
A laugh escapes Laito, and he draws her closer. She stubbornly refuses to retreat. Her chest presses against his, and her hands move to grip his upper sleeves. "Yes… If you count being around that stubborn dick as ok. She's been awake the last day or so. I was so kind as to let her visit you."
He gives her a look as if he expects her to praise him, but she ignores it. "What… about you?"
This question seems to surprise him. She feels him draw away, so she lets her hands slip away from his clothing. The look on his face causes her mind to race. "You were so hurt when Cordelia appeared. You became so distant, and… well, I just…"
Where is she going with this? She finds herself looking at her feet, unable to meet his gaze. What is she trying to say? That she was worried about him?
She grits her teeth. This isn't something she can deny anymore. She knows what she feels for Laito is not healthy. Her gaze drifts to Shiro, and his gaze burns into hers. With a jolt, she realizes he's trying to communicate with her. It's almost like he's begging her not to give in. A momentary flash of the half rotten woman races through her mind.
'I'm so sorry! Don't gi-' Mai's positive the woman was begging her not to give into Laito. She can see the same look on Shiro's face right now. Her gaze drifts from the battered boy to Laito, who is still watching her with a guarded look. She feels a strange feeling spread over her. She's positive it's nothing more than Stockholm Syndrome, but it doesn't matter anymore. She's stuck where she's at. She isn't human anymore, so why not make things easier on herself by finally giving in? Yui seems relatively happy with Ayato, and he has always been rougher than Laito has been. She swallows hard and says softly. "You were hurt badly by Cordelia's arrival. You….. disappeared and…"
Laito releases a sneer and steps back as if Mai slapped him. Surprise fills her, followed by understanding. She's delving too close to a wound that refused to mend. She swallows hard and gestures to Shiro. It makes her feel sick to her stomach to say this, but she has things she wants to know. The only way she can get Laito to talk is to make him feel like he is in control. "I'll… I'll do what you ask if you tell me why you attacked Cordelia when it's obvious you were so in love with her. How did you do it?"
Laito clicks his tongue in irritation, almost sounding like Subaru. It nearly floors her to suddenly see small things she had missed before. The brothers all have their own ticks, but they seem to unconsciously do something one of the others usually did. Ayato has his tantrums which resemble Subaru's on a much smaller scale. There's the way Kanato and Reiji speak. Shuu's teasing resembles Laito's, though on a slightly less perverted scale. They may not see it themselves, but they're all definitely bound by blood. Mai watches Laito turn his gaze to the wall. The silence is broken by Shiro's struggling and muffled yelling, but Mai ignores him. Laito's right. He has hurt her. It might not be worth the pain he endured, or the pain he will likely endure. Still, she feels she must do something or Laito will take matters into his own hands again. The sound of his voice startles her into looking back at Laito.
"I was surprised when she appeared. She…" He snarls before he releases a sigh. He turns his glowing green eyes on Mai. He smiles, and she has a feeling she won't get a straight answer from him. He tilts his head a little. "I placed the bottle in my mouth. When I kissed her, I bit down on it. I knew her tongue would be entering my mouth. She couldn't stop it. I forced the liquid into her mouth and kept her from spitting it out."
He runs his hand up into his hair chuckling softly. "I killed her, so she would be mine for eternity. I proved my love to her, but she rejected me by coming back. That bitch. I wanted to prove to her once again that it's me who loves her the most. Not my father, or my uncle, but me."
Despite the revulsion she feels, Mai's heart starts to break. His eyes flicker to Shiro before meeting Mai's once again. He chuckles softly. "Then she targeted you. You're mine, but she planned to take you away. If anyone gets to kill you, it'll be me."
A chill runs down Mai's spine, and she takes a few steps back. Her back presses against the damp wall. He watches her with that strangely indescribable look. He says in a cold voice. "You are mine for eternity, and when you are ready to end it, I'll be there for you. I'll be the one to take your life. Just like I did for her."
Mai's lips move on their own, and she says something she faintly remembers him telling her once upon a time. "Killing the one you love is the ultimate way to prove your love… Right?"
He releases a laugh. "Yes! Yes! You get it, sweetheart! I love you, so I couldn't very well let someone else take your life, could I? Not that bitch, and not this bastard!"
He sweeps his arm toward Shiro. His eyes darken a little, giving him an increasingly dangerous look. "I did what I had to. He won't bother us again. Nor will she. Not my brothers, no one. You're mine. Prove your love to me by ending the last dregs of your humanity right here in front of me."
Mai's knees feel weak, and her mouth goes dry. "I…"
She's in a dangerous situation, and she knows it. Her gaze flicks to Shiro, whose body is shaking. He's giving her that pleading look she's only ever seen in movies. He's silently begging for his life. Mai swallows hard and turns her gaze back to Laito. She can see the dark look is clinging to his face. She forces herself to straighten her spine. Mustering all the courage she can, she whispers. "I don't want to…."
He doesn't respond, but she can practically feel his disappointment. She quickly says. "If I kill him, won't that mean I'm confessing to him? Why don't… Why don't we…."
She grits her teeth and closes her eyes. She feels her stomach twist painfully. The words are hard to get out. She feels like she's been punched in the gut. It takes a moment for her to gather her resolve. If she doesn't do something, Shiro will lose his life at Laito's hands. She swallows hard and gathers her resolve. With her eyes still closed, Mai says softly. "Why don't…. We just… force him to pass out from blood loss…. Drop him off at a hospital…"
She shivers at her own words. "It'll torment him to know his friends gave up on him. He failed Yui and I. We're now trapped in an eternal cycle, and it's his fault for not trying hard enough."
Mai opens her eyes to see a contemplating look on Laito's face. His green gaze flickers from Mai to Shiro before returning to her. A smile spreads over his face, and he steps closer to her. "Fine. I'll take your offer, if you take mine."
He lifts his hand up, much like he has done in the past. She shudders and knows the silent meaning. He's offering her a place at his side for eternity. She knows it won't be a pleasant life, given his personality. She has refused his offer so many times before that she almost does it out of instinct. After a moment's hesitation, she lifts her hand and places it in his. She feels his fingers close over hers, and she knows her fate is sealed. Her body is pulled forward, but she no longer feels resistance well up. She made her bed, it's time to lay in it.
Her body bumps into his, and the fingers of his free hand catch her chin. Her face is tilted up, and his lips meet hers in a fluid motion. She closes her eyes tightly, and a blush forms over her face. She attempts to step back. To her surprise, Laito allows her to. He's wearing his usual playful smirk. He winks at her. "Hurry, love. We've got things to do."
Mai shudders at the thought of what he is implying. With a deep breath to steady her nerves, she turns to Shiro. She can see the betrayal and pain in his eyes. His body jerks, but Laito is faster. In seconds, the vampire is behind the battered boy and has dragged him up onto unsteady legs. One arm pins Shiro's to his sides; the other has a tight hold of blood stained hair. He cranes Shiro's head back in a clearly painful manner. Laito's glowing green eyes watch Mai expectantly. She slowly approaches. Her stomach begins doing flips, causing her to pause in front of Shiro. She really doesn't want to do this, but the scent of blood is making her mouth water. Her gaze moves to meet Laito's, and she finds herself at a loss on what to do. Does she seriously just bite down? Is there a technique to drinking blood?
Her stomach twists in revulsion, and she retreats a step. Her gaze flickers between the two males in front of her. Time seems to slowly tick by before she works up the courage to approach again. At this point, Shiro has lost all will to fight. He doesn't move at all when Laito's arm releases his own. The red haired vampires fingers thread into Mai's hair and draws her face closer to Shiro's exposed throat. When she tries to jerk back, Laito yanks on her hair, bringing tears to her eyes. She places her hands against Shiro's chest to steady herself and is surprised to feel his intense warmth through his thin, blood soaked shirt. She swallows hard when she realizes she can feel his heart beating. His scent mixes with Laito's and washes over her, making her salivate like a starving dog. She awkwardly leans forward, determined to get this over with. Her mouth opens wide, and she bites down on Shiro's neck.
Nothing happens aside from a flinch from the human male. Laughter follows not long after, and Mai leans back confused on what happened. Laito's playful voice fills her ears. "Are you trying to eat him like a zombie? Look you left teeth marks in his flesh."
Mai casts a frustrated glance in Laito's direction. She just wants to get this over with, but it seems to be dragging on and on. Laito leans closer to her face and whispers. "Use your bottom jaw to press the skin up into your fangs. Let them do the work."
Mai shudders at the sound of his voice. It's low and husky, as if he is getting turned on by this. She turns her attention back to Shiro and closes her eyes. It takes an embarrassing amount of tries before she succeeds. Blood trickles over her tongue, and she stiffens. She's not prepared for the taste. It's bitter, like black coffee, but there's something about it, but she can't describe what it is. It just slides down her throat like water. She closes her eyes and sucks hard, but her effort is rewarded by another small trickle and a soft groan from Shiro. Just as she starts to draw back, she feels Laito press on the base of her skull, halting her movement. He leans down to whisper huskily. "Don't draw them out all the way. Leave the tips in. That way if it slows you can push them back in, but the tips are smaller than the rest of your fangs. It'll allow the blood to pass."
Mai shifts her body into a more comfortable position. She can feel Shiro's hot breath against her cheek with each pant. She needs to get this over with quickly, so she draws back just a little before freezing. There's a gush of hot liquid. She quickly swallows to keep her mouth from overflowing and closes her eyes. She feels Shiro's body shudder against hers, and a thrill runs down her spine. One she fights to ignore. Her lower half seems to ignite though, and it only gets worse when Laito whispers in her ear to start sucking gently. It'll encourage the blood to move easier. Without a second thought, she follows his instructions. She starts slow at first, but she quickly gets the hang of it. Shiro groans in her ear, causing the ache between her legs to intensify. She has felt pleasure when Laito drank her blood, and she expected it to be a similar sensation on the opposite side. She isn't wrong, but it's not the same.
Shiro goes limp in her grasp, and it's like a switch is thrown in her mind. She jerks back in horror. Laito doesn't bother keeping him upright. He just lets the human collapse at his feet. Panic fills her in seconds. "Ah! Laito, Shiro is…"
She glances up at the male vampire, but she finds her world spinning before she ever catches sight on him. Her body bounces off the soft surface of Laito's bed. "Ah!"
He's on top of her in seconds. His tongue traces the corner of her lips before delving into her mouth. She closes her eyes and presses a hand to his chest, but it doesn't do her any good. His tongue traces every surface until all she can taste is him. Finally, Laito pulls back with a lust filled smile on his face. Her legs dangle off the edge of the bed. He has a hand resting on either side of her head. One leg is resting beside her hip, while the other rests on the floor between her legs. One of Mai's arms are outstretched, while the other presses lightly against his chest. He watches her silently. They seem to stare at one another for a moment before Laito leans down to whisper.
"I want to hear you say it, sweetheart. Tell me who you belong to." The stubborn look on her face seems to amuse him even further. He shifts his weight from the leg on the floor to the one on the bed, causing it to dip a little. "I'll make you say it, sweetheart. One way or another."
His smooth fingers trace her upper thigh before sliding upwards. Mai's entire body tenses, and her eyes widen. "Ah wait, Laito! Please don-!"
He leans down cutting off her plea with his lips. His tongue enters her mouth, and he hikes the shirt she's wearing up over her stomach. He ironically stops just below her breasts. She feels his fingers leave her skin, allowing her shirt to slide back down a little since it hadn't been hiked up in the back. His weight shifts. It's the only warning she gets before her back arches, and shock runs through her body. Her legs attempt to close, but she ends up squeezing his leg. Another shock races through her when his index finger makes another slow circle around her sensitive bundle of nerves. Her hands lift to grip his shirt in a white knuckled hold. "S-Stop! Please! I belong to you!"
She lets out an awkward cry when he applies just a little pressure. He isn't touching her directly, but she still feels incredibly sensitive. The thin fabric of her panties start to feel like they are sticking to her skin. She releases a whimper and tries to push him away, but he leans down to run his tongue over her neck. She shudders hard and attempts to close her legs again. "Please stop!"
She can hear the sob in her own voice, but it's lost on him. His husky voice whispers into her ear. "You got turned on by another man. I think you deserve punishment for that."
His breath tickles her ear, making her cringe. There's no relief when his fingers leave her sensitive area. He draws back to hover over her with a lustful smirk on his face. His hair dangles around him, giving him an eerie appearance. The closer she looks, the more she realizes he has a look of pain hidden behind the lust. With a shock, she finds herself pitying him again. Without giving it much thought, her arms lift to wrap around his neck. She finds herself pulling him down into a hug. He resists for a moment, whispering. "You haven't released your humanity. I'm taking it. I'll do it as many times as I need to make you understand you belong to me."
His lips touch hers in a demanding kiss. His fangs rake across her bottom lip, easily tearing the flesh there. Mai flinches, but it's short lived. His fingers slide past the waistline of her panties. His middle finger brushes the sensitive bundle of nerves. Her body arches again, and she inhales sharply through her nose. She hears him chuckle and draw back. Unfortunately, she doesn't get a moment to even think. Pleasure washes over her when his fangs sink into the flesh just beneath her ear. His index finger slowly traces her opening, making a few passes. She finds herself a trembling mess beneath him before he slowly presses the digit into her. Her eyes roll back, and her mouth falls open in a silent cry. Her knuckles turn white as she clings to his shirt. She can hear him sucking her blood, which makes the whole scene even more erotic. "L-Laito… Please…. Sto-."
A second digit enters her body, and her mouth snaps closed. Her begging only makes things worse. She shudders when she feels his fangs withdraw from her body. There is a tickle along her skin, letting her know her blood is running down the side of her neck. Much to Mai's frustration, she finds herself a quivering mess beneath him. He slowly leans down and presses a kiss to the corner of her mouth. After that, he kisses her chin then her windpipe. He moves on to the valley between her breasts. His fingers carefully withdraw from her body, earning a strange whimper from her. His fingers trace her hip bones until he reaches her waist, smearing her own juices against her skin. His next kiss is against her stomach, just above her belly button. She closes her eyes, not wanting to see where he's headed. Her fingers reluctantly release his clothes when he tugs them from her grasp. She finds herself gripping the comforter instead. Her entire body shakes in anticipation, but she doesn't dare say a word.
His last kiss is against the top of her pubic bone. She jerks when his fingers hook her panties, then they're gone. She shudders when cool air brushes against her exposed skin. It takes everything she has to force her eyes open and down. Laito's kneeling in front of her with a hand on each of her knees. His green eyes shine with a playful glow while he watches her. Not once does he break eye contact as he leans forward. Her breath hitches, and she tries to close her eyes. Unfortunately, she finds his gaze almost hypnotic. She fully expects to feel his tongue or lips against her bundle of nerves, but a sharp pain races through her thigh instead. It doesn't register right away, but at the last second, Laito turns and sinks his fangs into her inner thigh just below her womanhood. She hisses in pain and attempts to shuffle backwards, but his arms hook around her knees. She finds herself drawn back towards him. She can see a small droplet of blood running down her inner thigh when she leans up on her elbows. There is another sharp pain, followed by another. Each one has her writhing in pain and attempting escape. Unfortunately, he prevents it every single time. Before she knows it, her thighs are riddled with small, painful bites. She's left fighting tears while lying on her back, attempting to be as still as possible. He leans back to admire his handiwork. A smirk spreads over his face. He moves to his knees and leans forward, leaving his head hovering over her stomach. "You're mine."
"You've said that," Mai weakly says. She flinches at the pain in her own voice, though she feels disgust toward the lust she hears. She hates herself for even finding a shred of pleasure in this torment. Her body arches when his two fingers re-enter her body. Her legs close around his ribs, and her breath comes out in ragged pants. She turns her flush face away from him, but he doesn't seem to care. His lips leave soft kisses over her stomach, just below the shirt she's wearing. Her eyes close, so she doesn't see him moving. Her body jerks in response to him wiggling his fingers inside her before slowly sliding in and out of her body. Her head arches back when she feels his tongue draw lazy circles around her bundle of nerves. She tries to twist away, but his free hand moves to press on her lower stomach, pinning her to the bed. A sob leaves her lips, though the sound is quickly accompanied by moans she tries to bite back.
This is just as horrible as she remembered it being. She wants to sink into the mattress and never return. Suddenly, everything stops. His fingers leave her body again. Her body goes limp, and she finds herself staring blankly up at Laito. At some point, he shed his clothes, though she doesn't remember hearing him do so. As she watches him, her vision begins to blur. He smiles in that infuriating manner and lifts a finger to catch a tear. "There's no need to cry, sweetheart. You'll enjoy it if you just give in. I promised you a punishment you'd enjoy."
She lets out another sob; it's followed by another. Her entire world crashed around her, and she has no idea what the future has in store for her. Laito tilts his head a little and leans down to brush a kiss against her forehead. The oddly sweet gesture causes her to tense for a moment. There's a flutter in the pit of her stomach. Her watery gaze searches for his face, but she doesn't get a chance to see it. The second his lips leave her skin, he buries his face in her shoulder. He grows very still, leaving her feeling confused on what is happening. With a jolt, she realizes this time is a little different than before. Her eyes lock onto the ceiling above her. Last time, he'd been punishing her with the intent of dominating her. This time he's trying to make her let go of everything that makes her who she is.
The more she thinks about it, the more she realizes it isn't so different after all, but she can't deny the fact it feels different. He's not as pushy as last time. She closes her eyes and grits her teeth. What does she have to live for anyway?
She forces her body to relax beneath him. She isn't among the living anymore, so she has nothing to live for. She feels the last bit of her heart break. Mai lifts an arm up and drapes it over her face. Her obvious discomfort doesn't bother Laito in the slightest. She feels him shuffling around before she feels his manhood pressing against her opening. The head slides into her folds, and her entire body tenses. She bites back a whimper threatening to spill from her mouth. Without warning, her arm is ripped away from her face. She finds herself blinking up at the red haired vampire. He has a mischievous smirk on his face. She tenses when he leans closer to her face. "I want you to look at me, so I can watch that pesky humanity die."
She doesn't get a chance to respond before he thrusts his hips against hers, burying himself inside her. Her back arches again, and a startled sound leaves her mouth. His hands find her wrists, pinning them to the bed. His green eyes are a darker shade of green due to his lust and pleasure. Her mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water, but she can't get any words or sounds out. He leans in to press a kiss against her jaw before he pulls his head back. His hips slowly withdraw until just the head rests inside her body. She forces herself to watch his face, like he told her to. The last thing she wants to do is set him off and make the situation worse. As she watches, he appears to shift his jaw awkwardly then a shudder runs through his body. Without warning, he thrusts forward, completely burying himself in her once more. She releases another startled cry. His lips connect with hers harshly, and his tongue slides into her mouth. His hips begin to roll at a lazy pace. He uses his tongue to coat her mouth in the taste of his blood. She struggles for a moment, but her body slowly relaxes beneath his.
The taste of blood heightens her pleasure. Shiro's blood had been smooth and bitter, while Laito's is thicker and sweet. She closes her eyes. This is her life now. Why is she resisting? If she relaxes, maybe she can actually enjoy herself. The taste of blood helps to soothe her nerves. She feels one of Laito's hands leave her wrist, so she lifts the freed limp up to shove her fingers into his hair. It's like a switch is thrown inside him. His pace increases along with the depth he pushes himself. Pleasure floods her in seconds. She moans into his mouth, and they increase in volume and frequency when his fingers find her bundle of nerves. Mai inhales sharply through her nose. He breaks the kiss, causing Mai to open her hazy eyes. She tries to focus on his face, but she finds it hard to do so. She thinks she sees a strange smile on his face, but she's not sure she's seeing it right. It isn't a gentle, loving one, but it's not a possessive one either. She swallows hard, but her thoughts go blank when his fingers press a little harder against her bundle of nerves. The second she gets close to coming undone, he slows to a stop and shift their positions.
He draws from her body to roll her onto her stomach, leaving her bent over the bed. Once she gets close, he pulls out of her again. He shifts their bodies so he can sit on the edge and guides her to face away from him. He wastes no time starting over. The bouncing in his lap gives him a chance to strip the shirt from her. It also gives him more control over how fast they go. At this point, she has stopped fighting to keep the sounds from spilling out of her mouth. The bizarre look never leaves his face, but he doesn't try to kiss her. He doesn't drink her blood either. It seems like he's waiting for something. Yet again, he draws her close, but he stops short of allowing the knot in her lower abdomen to come undone. She finds herself laying on her back looking up at him. Sweat clings to her body, and she is panting hard feeling more frustrated than she ever has.
Then it clicks. He told her he loved her, and she truly believes he does in some twisted way. The thought filled her with a giddy dread. She swallows softly and works on building her courage. She finds it easier to do so when she isn't staring straight into his glowing green eyes. "I…."
He cuts her off by huskily whispering in her ear. "Say it when you are looking at me."
She slowly opens her eyes. The second her gaze meets his, he re-enters her aching body, burying himself to the hilt. She's not sure how much more she can take. Much to her utter frustration, he freezes with an expectant look on his face. Panic fills her, and she finds her tongue feeling uncooperative. Does she feel the same way about him? Does it matter anymore?
She knows the answer to both those questions.
No, it doesn't matter anymore. It never mattered in the first place. Laito always planned to take what he wanted from her. Nothing she ever did, or could have done, would have changed that simple fact. The part which blows her away the most is that she does feel the same way about him. In some twisted way, she finds herself loving him back. She swallows softly and licks her lips. His eyes flick down to watch the action with a hungry gaze. She swallows again, and he watches that action just as intensely. She inhales slowly to steel her nerves for what's to come. She took his offer; there's no backing out now. They're in the middle of the bed at this point. She lifts a leg and wraps it around Laito's waist, drawing his gaze back up to hers. She offers him a small smile. "I… love….you."
It's harder to say than she expects it to be. She releases a breath she isn't even aware she has been holding and expects him to immediately start back up, but he rocks back onto his knees and observes her. His body remains connected to hers. Suddenly, she feels self conscious. Did she misread his silent demands? She turns her gaze away from him in shame. Her leg starts to slide down his waist, but his hand halts its descent. He pulls it back up to his waist, drawing her other one up with it. Her surprised gaze turns back to meet his. He gives her a playful smile and leans in close, causing her to shudder due to the movement. "Good girl, sweetheart. I can see that you've realized your position."
Her eyes widen, but all coherent thoughts vanish. He starts a quick pace, clearly chasing his own release. She arches her back, and a wordless cry leaves her lips. She tightens her legs around his waist, keeping him close to her body. Her hands scramble to grip him, but he pushes them away. She's stuck settling for gripping the comforter again. She closes her eyes tightly, listening to the lustful sounds leaving Laito's lips. She feels him shift his weight and tenses in anticipation. She expects to feel his fingers against her bundle of nerves like before, but she doesn't. Instead, his hand slides up the side of her skull before gripping her hair in a tight grip and yanking, effectively exposing her neck to him. The second his fangs sink into her flesh, the pleasure becomes overwhelming. She thrashes against him in a vain attempt to push him away, but he remains where he is. She's not sure how comfortable it is for him to be leaned over awkwardly while he thrusts, but she doesn't care.
The sound of him sucking her blood is erotic. She whimpers when she feels the knot in the pit of her stomach tighten before it finally comes undone. She doesn't realize she lets out a strangled cry of pure pleasure right in his ear. Her entire body tenses around him, and she feels his body shudder. It feels like every nerve in her body is tingling. He releases her neck with a wet popping sound and whispers in her ear. "Forever."
She nods numbly, feeling exhausted. It's over for her anyway. She has lost so much. She's barely aware of him moving them around, but she gratefully accepts the blankets.
If she thinks about it, she may have gained just as much as she lost. She can never describe why she ran head first into danger for a stranger, but she doesn't regret it. That stranger became a treasured friend, who was there for here in some awkward times.
An arm wraps around her waist pulling her back into a body.
Maybe it's fate, in some twisted way.
She knows she'll never be happy like a normal person, but she also knows she'll experience things normal people never will. Her eyes drift closed, and she feels Laito's face press into the back of her shoulder.
She hates to admit it, but he was right. It wasn't terrible once she gave in. She feels her body relaxing against his, allowing his legs to intertwine with hers. She might not ever be happy, but she'll treasure the times she is.
The more she relaxes, the more her mind drifts. Memories flash before her mind's eye. Yui's smile and kindness. The gentle girl might be the sole reason Mai is stuck where she is now, but she finds herself unable to blame the girl.
The next memory floats forth. She leans over Shuu's bed with a frustrated look on her face. She reaches out to shake the stubborn blonde vampire in a vain attempt to drag him up for school. She'll never openly admit it, but Shuu is one of her favorites. His calm demeanor does wonders for her nerves, and she finds herself able to relax around him.
Reiji's face floats to the front of her mind next. She was terrified of Reiji at first, but she finally found his gentle side. He doesn't actually show it, but she knows it'll surface when she needs help. It will never become a common occurrence, but she knows she can rely on him in a pinch.
Ayato's grinning face floods her mind's eye. He is his own beast, and she's still not sure how she feels about him. His pranks and demanding behavior makes her feel like he's an older brother. Still, the two of them share a bond neither will ever speak of. He had been a surprisingly sturdy rock in her time of need. A rock when no one else was around, and she can only hope she had been the same to him.
Kanato's sad eyes float across her mind. She remembers the fear she held for the purple haired vampire. She's still unsure of what she can possibly do around him, since it seems to change from minute to minute. Still, she finds him hauntingly beautiful, like the dolls he preserves. His voice is calming, and he has helped her out. He's definitely someone she'll make sure to observe from a safe distance.
Subaru's cold snarl and red eyes fill her with warmth. A small smile graces her face. She's positive he'd be disgusted if he knew she feels that way. Despite his rough edges, she finds a sense of safety when he's around. He may hurt her, but the look on his face afterwards is almost enough to soothe her pain. Like Shuu, he's one of her favorites, though she has no intention of ever telling him.
Her eyes hazily open to watch the wall. Laito's arm has grown heavy around her waist. She lost the human world, but she gained a whole new one. Her eyes close allowing her thoughts to drift again, this time to the Mukami's.
She doesn't know Ruki well, but she plans to try to learn more about him. She'll reach out to him the best she can in order to thank him for saving her. It's the least she can do. Besides, she is truly curious about him.
Yuma is another who interests her. He seems like Subaru in so many ways. The thought of having yet another safe place to go makes her desire to learn about him grow.
Kou is one she isn't sure of. She has a feeling that dealing with him will be like dealing with Kanato.
Azusa is the last to one her mind stops on. She has hazy memories of him trying to help her, but she's not sure of anything anymore. Her eyes open slowly to gaze at the wall. The sad look in his eyes makes her chest ache, even now. She now has an eternity, so why not try to soothe those around her?
She carefully rolls onto her back. Laito shifts in his sleep to adjust to her new position. She turns her gaze to his peaceful face, and she swallows hard. This man has taken so much from her. Her life, parents, and future, but she can't find any anger in her body. Instead, she finds her love for him deepen.
He has taken so much, but he has given her just as much. Her human future may have been destroyed, but she still has one. She has love and friends, though some may require more work than others. Laito's breath tickles the skin on her shoulder, and she slowly lifts a hand to lightly trace his jaw with her finger tips. She knows she'll regret her choice at times, but who doesn't?
She leans in to press a gentle kiss to his lips then rolls onto her side and wiggles back into him. Her eyes close in an attempt to drift off. Her life as a human is over, but she has been given a new one as a vampire.
She's determined to make the most out of this new one.
Regrets and all.
