Chapter 46
Jasmine ran out the door, passed the guards, and continued, until, she rounded the corner of the nearest building. She held her gun tightly to her chest, as she stared up into the sky for signs of enemy ships. For the moment, the sky was clear of anything, and she nodded in determination. Reaching inside her armor, she pulled out another one of her handheld solar surfer devices, and tossed it toward the ground. This one was silver and had white sails, which she had made while thinking about Silver, and it was the perfect thing for this situation.
"L.E.T.A. what's in the forecast today?" Jasmine asks the A.I., slipping her helmet back into place.
"My scanners have picked up clear weather on our end, but there's a big storm in the northeast." L.E.T.A. answers, humoring the girl.
Stepping onto her surfer, "Good, that's just the kind of cover we need." Jasmine replies, and begins the takeoff.
Soaring up into the open sky, Jasmine flew high up into the clouds in order to blend in. Although it was difficult to see, L.E.T.A. helped guide Jasmine, until they got closer.
"Miss Sparrow, I'm picking up a call from Mr. Hawkins, should I answer it?" L.E.T.A. questions.
"Yes." Jasmine answers, and was met with Jim's panicked voice.
"Jasmine, what the heck are you thinking?!" Jim practically shouts through Jasmine's disc.
Remaining calm, "The same thoughts you had on Treasure Planet, except now it's my turn to carry them out." Jasmine answers, scanning the sky for any movement.
"Jasmine this isn't funny!"
"I know Jim, but I didn't see any other option. You and I both know that I'm the only one, who'll be an even match for Price, and as difficult as it is to accept, it's still true."
Sighing came from the disc, as Jim replies "You're so difficult!"
"Hey, I did warn you and you still brought me home anyways." Jasmine retorts and could tell Jim was rolling his eyes right now.
"Jasmine, I swear if you die, I'll kill you myself."
"I'll do my best Jim."
Silence fell between them, and the weight of so many possibilities passed onto their shoulders. They both knew they would die for each other, but never had thought of the possibility of death actually happening. Now, the possibility seemed so real, it was difficult for them not to be overwhelmed.
"Jasmine, Talion says that he has a visual on the ship." It was Adeline's voice, which was so full of concern, it was a wonder how she was able to take a breath.
"Okay, wait for my word."
"Be careful." Jim mutters.
Without saying anything, Jasmine soared towards her target. The closer she got, the more dangerous the skies became. Ships were everywhere, each one firing at another. Jasmine had faced many dangerous situations, while flying on her surfer, but none as bad as this. She whipped past a Braivrok ship, that immediately made her its target, and was almost blasted to bits, when an army ship shot at it and caused it to change targets. a couple of times, she almost flew straight into a blast, but with L.E.T.A.'s aid, who scanned all of the ships relentlessly, Jasmine managed to get out of the way in time.
Finally, in the center of the chaos, she laid eyes on her target. The Braivrok ship, with the bomb inside, was the largest of all of the ships. The army had tried to damage it, but each blast was easily deflected by the ships powerful shields. Proving to be a menacing sight.
"You sure you want to do this?" L.E.T.A. questions.
"I don't have any other choice." Was Jasmine's answer.
"Very well, they're ready whenever you are."
Jasmine closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Slowly letting the air escape her lungs, she opened her eyes again, and said "Ready."
Down below, L.E.T.A. tells the others, and Talion immediately gets to work. Ignoring the pain in his leg, the dizziness in his head, and the amount of blood he's lost, Talion carried on until he cracked the code. Hacking into the Braivrok ship, he worked on opening the door. As Jasmine watched the door slowly open, she immediately zoomed towards it as fast as her solar surfer would allow. Pulling out her gun, she floated inside and shot at the awaiting Braivroks.
Jasmine jumped off of her surfer, and fought her way through. It was no wonder the Braivroks were so difficult to kill, for they were stronger and smarter than most races. But Jasmine discovered they lacked any sort of imagination, as well as cleverness. Their skeletal frame was like armor, but like armor, it had weak spots. Aiming for the eyes of one, Jasmine watched as the Braivrok screamed in pain before it collapsed. Shooting the gun out of the hands of another, the towering beast charged at her.
This brought memories of her time in the Underworld, which unknowingly prepared Jasmine for this moment. Side stepping the Braivrok, Jasmine used her gun to block its hand, and used all the strength she had to push it back. The Braivrok's hand flipped backwards, and Jasmine took the opportunity to force its claws into its throat. These monsters had ruined so many lives, now it was Jasmine's turn to ruin theirs.
Pushing the beast away, Jasmine continued fighting, until there was nothing left to fight. L.E.T.A. took a quick scan of the ship, there was nothing left but Jasmine, the bomb, and one other living individual. Price. With a quick breath, Jasmine walked towards her final destination, spitting on one of the dead Braivroks as she passed. Once she reached the closed door, Jasmine knew she had a chance to walk out. However, Jasmine had done enough running for a lifetime, and so, there was no other option but to open the door and walk through.
