Universe Seven

Beerus' Home planet

The luscious green forest of Beerus' world was a sight to behold. The canopy of trees shaded patches of the pathway as light filtered through and covered that same trail in dots of white.

Champa and Vados had only been traveling for a short while after landing, as they began to descend a hilly part of the path. And barely a few minutes into their trek, Champa was utterly exhausted, collapsing to the ground as his back hit the dirt beneath him.

"Ughhhh," the destroyer groaned out before calling out to his attendant.

"Vado, can you give me something to eat or drink? I'm dying back here," Champa remarked incredulously.

Vados waved her hand in the air as a bottle of water appeared out of then air, as Champa sat up to gulp it all down in one go.

"Ahh, that's better! Vados, do we have any delicious food for me to eat?" Champa asked.

"I have something for you right here, my lord. Caulifla made this dish," Vados replied.

"Oh, good! I can't wait to show how the food from the Sixth Universe is superior to that of the Sevenths," Champa mused as Vados nodded silently.

"Lord Champa, remember the deal we made with Caulifla," Vados reminded him, as his ears fell flat for a moment in annoyance.

"Yes, they can train in the Godly Hyperbolic Dimension for three days, I remember," Champa replied as Vados let out a sigh.

It was only but a moment later when the two deities could hear explosions going off in the distance, and the destroyed ground started shooting up into the air as well.

"What is going on beyond this forest? It looks like Beerus is trying to murder someone for waking him up from a nap,"Champa thought as Vados had the mind to move out of the way as multiple ki blasts hit Champa and exploded, knocking down the surrounding trees and tearing up the ground.

As the smoke began to clear, Champa blinked twice before jumping to his feet, going from stunned to pissed in less than a second.

"What the hell!? Are you trying to murder me out here?!" Champa screamed furiously as Beerus finally caught sight of him and Vados, which came as a surprise to the much thinner destroyer.

However, that surprise gave way to more frustrated annoyance.

"I don't know what you're doing here Champa, so what do you want?" Beerus bristled, clearly not in the best of moods.

"I hoped you would ask that," Champa replied. "Though were those blasts necessary?"

Beerus started to growl, as Champa cleared his throat before continuing.

"Today, I'm going to show you how much more superior the food of Universe Six is to your universe!" Champa proclaimed with a cocky grin, as Beerus motioned for them to follow as the deities flew into Beerus' home.

Beerus' Residence

Whis had prepared a table for the two gods as they took their seats at opposite ends of the table. After sliding himself into his place, Champa's attention turned to the energy he felt behind him, as Goku and Vegeta stood there, whispering as Champa looked over the two quizzically.

"Strange. Those two are definitely Saiyans, but I heard this universe didn't have any left. What'seven more intriguing is that their energy gives off the same vibe as Vegito's. How peculiar," Champa mused quietly to himself.

"Umm, Lord Beerus? Why does this guy look like you but fatter?" Goku asked casually, as Champa got up and shot him a glare of pure anger, pointing his right index finger at Goku.

Before he could do anything, Vados slapped Champa's hand with her staff as he recoiled and begrudgingly sat back down.

"You need to watch your mouth," Vados directed Goku. "Remember, you're talking to a God of Destruction."

"Wait what?!" Goku expressed with a shocked expression, with Vegeta's face looking more terrified than anything.

"To answer your question, Goku, Lord Champa is the God of Destruction from Universe Six and Lord Beerus' twin brother," Whis stated.

"Whoa hold up! Twin brother? And what's this Universe Six?" Goku said as Beerus' tail twitched from across the room.

"Well, I guess I'll have to explain this, so please, pay attention," Whis said as the room illuminated for a moment before turning dark and twelve celestial looking objects surrounded Whis in the vast darkness.

"You and everyone you've met so far live in the Seventh Universe. But that's not all there is. In total, we have twelve universes, with each universe housing their own God of Destruction and a Supreme Kai," Whis paused before continuing

"Each universe has a twin that it's very similar too, and the corresponding number of the two universes add up to 13. As such, Universe Seven, where we are now, and Universe Six, are twin universe with those similar characteristics," Whis said as the room returned to normal as Vados stood nearby quietly.

Beerus looked over at his twin brother, not wanting to draw things out any longer.

"So you claim to have brought some superior food, but I'm not seeing any in front of me right now Champa," Beerus noted, one of his claws tapping against the table.

"That's right, the best food in the cosmos!" Champa declared, causing Beerus to burst out laughing.

"Oh, come on Champa! I've already shown you multiple times that my universe is better than your universe, especially when it comes to food," Beerus sneered, seeing Champa's expression sour as the destroyer turned to Vados.

"Give my brother his food, Vados," Champa demanded as her staff lit up and a few plates of food appeared on the table.

"Oh man, I want to eat some too," Goku said as his stomach growled, and he and Vegeta took their seats at the table.

Beerus grabbed his plate and sniffed the dish, his mouth starting to salivate.

"What's wrong? Not hungry?" Champa inquired with a sly grin.

Beerus swallowed and sat up straighter in his seat.

"The food may smell good, but it doesn't mean the taste is going to be delicious," Beerus remarked as he and the others dug in their silverware and took a bite.

Beerus's whole body froze up as he, Vegeta, Goku and Whis began scarfing their plates down as the food all but vanished in a few short seconds.

"Well, it's good," Beerus casually responded.

"Only good?" Champa asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, you heard me right," Beerus said as he asked for another plate.

"Well, I say it's wonderful, my lord," Whis said as he looked over to the pile of plates around Goku and Vegeta.

"You know, this dish has a familiar taste to it," Vegeta noted, trying to remember where he had tasted this before.

"Well, the food was made on Planet Sadala if you must know, home of the Saiyans," Vados responded.

"WHAT!?" Vegeta shouted in shock, his hands banging hard against the table at the revelation, as Goku just looked at him, clearly confused.

"You're telling me that Planet Sadala still exists in your universe with Saiyans living there?!"

"Wait, Planet Sadala? I thought the Saiyans were from Planet Vegeta," Goku blurted out with his mouth full, very curious about what was transpiring.

"Planet Sadala was the original home of our race. However, a civil war destroyed the planet long ago, so we repopulated and conquered what became Planet Vegeta," the prince explained, still awestruck

"So… this food was made by Saiyans. It's almost as good as Chichi's cooking." Goku offered up with his mouth still full of food.

" Well then, how about instant noodles for our guests, Whis?" Beerus suggested as the cups appeared with the lids covered and the steam from the hot water in them escaping.

"We'll just have to wait for a minute, my lord," Whis replied.

Champa stared off as Whis' staff beeped and the noodles were handed out.

"Eat up!"

Champa and Vados looked at each other, as they grabbed their chopsticks and swallowed their first bites, as Champa's eyes shot open from the taste, and gulped the whole thing down instantly.

Both of them took a breathe and sighed as Champa immediately took notice of Beerus' satisfied grin, with Champa grabbing a napkin and dabbing at his lips.

"It was fine," Champa quipped, as Beerus knew he had won.

"This fine meal is from a planet called Earth, and they have a lot of delicious cuisines," Beerus said tauntingly.

"Vados! Check if we have an Earth in our universe," Champa blurted out as she looked into her staff, as Whis walked over and peered into the staff's orb as well.

"It exists, but from the look of things, the planet's inhabitants were killed a while ago now in a Civil War," The attendant solemnly noted as Champa looked defeat.

"Well, I still have planet Sadala," Champa sighed.

Beerus wanted to take another shot at his brother when Champa chimed in, cutting off his brother.

"Beerus, what do you say we have a competition?" Champa inquired, a devilish grin worn on his face that Beerus could tell was a red flag.

"What? You want to fight me?" a perturbed Beerus shot back.

The two destroyers landed in the middle of the table, as Vegeta and Goku could only look in with scared expressions as the planet began to rumble violently before Whis and Vados stepped in with their staffs separating the two.

"Lord Beerus, you do remember that Gods of Destruction can't fight against each other as the power would destroy everything around them," Whis scolded.

"Cool it, brother! I wasn't talking about us!" Champa clarified. "I was talking about having a tournament."

"What is the point of a tournament if there's nothing of value for me?" Beerus asked.

"The winner would get the Super Dragon Balls! The ones the size of a planet scattered across our two universes!" Champa said.

"So that's why you're here," Beerus shot back with a glare as Champa could only gulp, knowing he was busted.

"You've been coming into my universe trying to gather the seven orbs, haven't you?" Beerus said accusingly, as Champa tried to brush it off.

"I wouldn't put it that way," Champa murmured as Beerus growled, growing more impatient.

"Ahh, but you see, these Dragon Balls are even more powerful than regular ones on Namek, capable of granting ANY single wish! ANY!" Champa emphasized as Beerus leaned back in his chair.

"Hmm, interesting. But I want something else as well," Beerus remarked, intrigued.

"If my team were to win this tournament, you're going to give me the Super Dragon Balls you've already collected and Planet Sadala," Beerus proposed.

"Well, if that's what you want, then if I win, I want Planet Earth."

"And I'm allowed to come and go through your universe as I please," Champa added.

"Do we have a deal?"

"Yes, we do," Beerus replied confidently.

"Here are the rules: In the tournament, you need eight competitors, and this will take place in three days," Champa said as he began to move his Chair!

"Wait. I propose that there should be a test for this tournament, too," Vegeta interjected.

"I don't want to fight somebody that isn't intelligent enough to follow some basic rules," Vegeta explained.

Vados smiled at Vegeta's proposal.

"That sounds like a good idea," Vados noted.

"And if a competitor were to fail the test, then they wouldn't be allowed to participate."

Vados moved over to Whis and whispered something in his ear before Whis turned back and whispered as well, as both of them nodded.

"Lord Beerus, I'll be responsible for creating the arena and finding a suitable location so the fighters can fight to the fullest," Whis informed them, as Beerus nodded silently in approval.

"Well then, I'll see you later, brother!" Champa said as he and Vados and Champa disappeared in a brilliant flash of light.

With the visitors gone, Beerus then turned to look at his two Saiyans.

"You two listen carefully. You are going to be responsible for finding the other six combatants. You already take up two of our eight spots!" Beerus ordered.

"What!?" Goku and Vegeta replied with dismay.

"I don't want to hear it! I won't lose to that stuck up brat, so start looking for the other six members now!" Beerus yelled.

"Yes, Lord Beerus, understood! Let's go Kakarot!" Vegeta said as his body went stiff as Goku just looked at the prince, puzzled at his reaction.

"Whis, we need a ride back to Earth," Vegeta stated without hesitation.

"Very well then," the attendant replied as Goku and Vegeta placed their hands on Whis' back as they shot off toward Earth.

Thirty Minutes Later

Earth: Mountain Range

Goku and Vegeta were dropped back off on Earth, and Whis promptly headed back to Lord Beerus's world as the two Saiyans now had to get a squad together.

"Hey, Vegeta…you already have an idea of who the other six are, right?" Goku asked.

"For starters, let's ask Gohan," Vegeta replied.

"Huh, Alright. What about Majin Buu?"

"Hell no!" Vegeta scoffed. "Majin Buu is strong, without question, but he most likely would fail the written test. We can't rely on him."

"It's just, I don't know about Gohan," Goku worried aloud, scratching at the back of his head. "He hasn't been training since fighting Majin Buu."

"It'll be fine. We can train him back up in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. He'd get his battle senses back in no time," Vegeta calculated, his chin resting against his thumb.

"Piccolo should be in too. He'll be able to help Gohan out a bit."

"Then we would have to grab both of the androids," Vegeta paused. "and Krillin too," he added in.

"Really, Krillin?" Goku replied with a puzzled look.

"What, do you have any better ideas?" Vegeta shot back.

"Nah, you're right. Though that would only be five," Goku said as he counted the numbers on his fingers.

"Then maybe we should grab Tien too. His power should suffice for a tournament like this," Vegeta said.

"Ok then, sounds like a plan. Let's go ask Gohan first," Goku said when he suddenly felt a ki spike.

"Hey, that's Gohan! Let's go, Vegeta!"

Goku took off in the direction of his energy as Vegeta powered up and shot off the ground like a rocket, not one to let Kakarot get ahead of him.

Ten Minutes Later

The Wastelands

Soon enough, they met up with Gohan and Piccolo in the wastelands. The two of them had been sparring but stopped once they got close.

"Hey dad, good to see ya!" Gohan said cheerfully, nodding at Vegeta to acknowledge his presence as well.

Gohan's hair had grown back out to be spiked up just like it was at the World Martial Arts Tournament, sans the arched, hanging hair bang.

"We're gonna cut to the chase here, Gohan," Goku started before continuing.

"There's going to be a tournament, and I want you to participate."

"Uhh, sure. I'll do it. But when is the tournament start?" Gohan asked.

"Three days," Goku replied with a goofy smile, as Gohan let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry dad, but I h-"

"Not another word of useless crap out of you Gohan, do you hear me?" Vegeta cut him off, getting up into the half Saiyan's personal space, putting Gohan on edge.

"You're going to participate," Vegeta stated bluntly, not giving Gohan an out.

"We're going up to the look to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, which would be particularly useful for you."

Gohan tried to protest, but Vegeta had enough of Gohan's excuses, as he gave Gohan the coldest, sharpest glare, silencing him.

"You said that you were going to become stronger again after Freeza came back. You were too weak to save the ones you loved," Vegeta pointed out, which struck a cord inside Gohan, who remembered that feeling of helplessness and despair.

"Are you going to wait for someone else to save your family? What are you going to do if an enemy kills Kakarot and I? What if you are the only one left on the planet who can protect the people here?" Vegeta posed to him.

Silence consumed them for what seemed like an eternity, as Gohan felt a pit drop in his stomach as a bead of sweat dripped from his temple and slid down his cheek.

"I'm not asking you this time, so you're going to come with us," Vegeta directed him, breaking the silence as Piccolo helplessly watched the exchange go down, knowing the angle Vegeta was trying for with Gohan.

Gohan looked up at Vegeta with a nervous look, about to speak up, but he had no chance. Vegeta knocked him out cold in the blink of an eye with a punch to the gut. He held Gohan up with his arm stuck out to the side so he wouldn't fall to the ground below.

"Piccolo, are you going to participate?" Goku asked.

"If you aren't going to give me the same treatment Vegeta gave Gohan, I don't see why not. It's not like I've got anything better to do," The Namekian chuckled, cracking his knuckles within his hand.

"Kakarot, go and ask Tien for his help. I'm going to go recruit the others," Vegeta said as both nodded.

Goku slung Gohan over his Shoulder as he and Piccolo went toward Tien's location and Vegeta headed out elsewhere.

Universe six

Champa's Home Planet

Vados and Champa finally returned to destroyer's world of Universe Six, as Cabba, Vegito, Caulifla and Kale were all training in the open field next to the lake. All of them took notice as both divine beings approached, with Vados clearing her throat.

"I have some important news for you all," Vados said as the Saiyans each raised en eyebrow.

"We're going to have a tournament coming soon that will pit us against warriors of Universe Seven."

All of them were speechless, Caulifla's jaw dropped. Vegito just stood there, looking stunned, unsure how to feel about this development.

"I wouldn't get so excited if I were you. There's a wager on the line. If Universe Seven wins the tournament, that means planet Sadala will be moved to the seventh universe as Lord Beerus requested," Vados relayed.

"The people there aren't particularly fond of Saiyans, even though almost all of them have been wiped out," She noted while looking straight at Vegito, who tried to decipher the message the attendant was relaying.

"In short, your group of Saiyans will end up having trouble aligning with allies for jobs."

Caulifla broke out laughing, as Champa looked ready to blow a gasket.

"Don't you sweat it! We're going to win. No one can beat us," Caulifla oozed confidence as Cabba and Kale brightened up, but Vegito couldn't help but feel conflicted.

"I came from Universe Seven and traveled back in time when I ended up here. So did this time's version of me survive and kill Majin Buu? Am I still fused over there, or did they separate back into Goku and Vegeta after restoring the lives lost on their Earth?" Vegito pondered, considering the possibility of other planets supplying the fighters for the tournament as well.

"The Godly Hyperbolic Dimension has enough food for the next three days you'll spend in there that pass out here. I hope you'll do your best to master the Super Saiyan Blue state," Vados said as her staff lit up and sucked the four of them inside as they yelled out before their voices disappeared into Vados's staff.

"With those four, Beerus stand no chance! I can't wait until we win this," Champa confidently proclaimed.

West City

Krillin and Eighteen's Residence

Vegeta sat cross-legged across from Krillin and Eighteen, with Krillin seemingly on edge, while Eighteen's expression was cold and stoic, matching Vegeta's same look, as the awkward silence persisted until the android broke the peace.

"So, what is it you want from us Vegeta?" Eighteen asked.

"I want you to participate in the Universal Tournament, plain and simple," Vegeta said, not one to beat around the bush.

"Hey, what about me?" Krillin asked, suddenly feeling left out of the loop.

"We want you to participate too, but just don't go getting yourself eliminated in the first round," Vegeta directed to Krillin, who jittered a little from the pressure.

Eighteen brushed the hair away from her eyes, parting the stray strands back into place before letting out a sigh.

"Sorry, but no," she answered bluntly, standing up and walking toward the sink in the kitchen as Krillin started panicking, not sure to back his wife or avoid getting pulverized by Vegeta.

"I'm not going to participate in this if I'm not going to get any reward."

Vegeta scoffed as he knew he'd have to say something to entice her, but then he knew how to get her on board.

"Here's the deal," Vegeta started, as the android glanced back over at the Saiyan prince.

"Go on," Eighteen said calmly.

"I haven't asked Bulma yet, but I'm sure that if I told her your conditions, she'd pay you the money to participate AND win," Vegeta stated with an emphasis on the and.

"Is that so?" She replied with a raised eyebrow, a smile slowly creeping upon her lips.

"Fine. I'm in, but I want forty million Zeni."

"Deal, forty million," a perturbed Vegeta shot back, not wanting to jeopardize losing Eighteen by bargaining down the price.

"Phew! That was close." Krillin thought as he collapsed backward, looking exhausted.

"Now that all that's settled, let's go to The Lookout so we can utilize the Hyperbolic Time Chamber."

Krillin was about to chime in, but he was cut off by Vegeta.

"We're going to train for three days in the room since Dende removed the previous limitations."

"Hm. I'm going to go call Launch to take care of Marron," Eighteen said as she went to go get the house phone.

"And while you're at it, if you can ask you brother to participate in the tournament, that'd be helpful as well," Vegeta suggested, her eyes opened a little wider for a moment before going back to how they usually looked, as she nodded at Vegeta, acknowledging the request.

"I finally get to let loose with Super Saiyan Blue. Universe Six, you're all going to bow down to me!" Vegeta thought as he grinned sadistically, his fist gripped tightly in anticipation.

Universe six

Champa's Home Planet

The Godly Hyperbolic Dimension

The four Saiyans' yells continued as they entered into the dimension and collapsed on top of each other, the weight of the room holding them in place until they stopped their ki from leaking out.

"Ouch! She could have warned us she was going to do that," Cabba groaned as he rubbed the back of his neck.

A few meters away, she could see Caulifla looking up at Vegito while grasping his left hand with both of hers.

"I know I may have seemed completely excited out there, but I could tell that something was bothering you Vegito," Caulifla spoke softly, the kind look in her eyes trying to comfort him.

"Yeah, you could say that," he replied before trailing off, as Kale started to take notice of the interaction too.

"Listen Vegito, we all know you originally came from Universe Seven, and I bet you're feeling conflicted," Caulifla said to him.

"I know you've grown strong feelings for all of us here, settled down to grow a family with me of all people, but it doesn't lessen the loss of what occurred before you came into our lives, does it?"

"No, it doesn't," Vegito acknowledged.

He proceeded to cup Caulifla's chin with his free hand as she gazed up with a now-worried look.

"When I became Vegito, I became a different person. I love you and Gito, and everything we've gone through together has been wonderful," Vegito explained before biting his lip as his eyes watered slightly.

"But when I think of Universe Seven, I think back to the people I lost back then and how I almost lost you not that long ago too," he went on as Caulifla let out a gasp as Vegito's tears hit her hands.

It was as if she could suddenly feel the immense burden that was weighing on Vegito's heart and mind, the saddness and the raw, mixed emotions overflowing.

"But we're both still here is what's important, and I'm hopeful that there's a chance that I can see them again at the tournament to give me some peace of mind."

"I hope you get that chance. But right now, we have something we have to accomplish. I'll wait to start training if you aren't ready," Caulfila offered up, which took Vegito aback slightly.

A few more moments passed as the Saiyan couple looked into each other's eyes before Vegito finally let a smile cross his lips. His hair began to rustle before the power of Super Saiyan Blue burst forth and enveloped him in its calming aura.

"If I can't move beyond the past, then what is the purpose of living for the present?" The fused fighter rhetorically asked as Caulifla began to smile.

He then turned his attention to Kale and Cabba while moving the hand he had cupped Caulifla's chin with on top of hers.

"We only have three days out there to master Super Saiyan Blue. Are you guys ready to push beyond our limits again?" Vegito inquired, sounding liberated from the shackles that held him down a few moments ago.

The others nodded back at him with smiles as everyone jumped into position, and the sparring session began in earnest.

Earth

Kami lookout

Krillin, Eighteen, Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, Tien, and a still unconscious Gohan had all reached the Lookout, as Dende and Mr. Popo awaited them. Krillin and Eighteen were the last two to touch down, as Vegeta had left the house after Eighteen started making phone calls.

Vegeta turned toward Eighteen as she descended in her pink tracksuit with sneakers.

"So, is he in?" Vegeta asked, referring to Android Seventeen.

"Yeah, he's in, but it'll cost some extra money. His words, not mine," Eighteenth replied with a shrug.

"Bulma will pay him, he won't have to worry about that as long as we win," Vegeta said with a slight scoff at the end.

Moments later, Seventeen landed on the tile surface, giving a quick wave to the others as Vegeta laid out the gameplan for training.

"Seventeen, you're going to train with your sister tomorrow," Vegeta said.

"Fine by me," Seventeen answered while parting his bangs back from his eyes. "I could use the time to catch up with my sis as well."

Eighteen just laughed under her breathe, seeing her brother's playful mood taking her back to the old days.

"The last day will be Piccolo training with Krillin and Tien," Vegeta continued.

"Meanwhile, Kakarot, Gohan and I are going in now. I was going to have us go last, but the boy will be better served waking up in the chamber than out here."

With that, the two of them walked toward the chamber, Gohan slung over Goku's shoulder, as Mr. Popo opened the door for them before closing it behind them. Their year had begun.

A couple of hours passed as Goku sat by Gohan's side. Slowly but surely, the demi-Saiyan came to, and he immediately knew where they were.

"How long have I been out?" Gohan asked Goku.

"Only a couple of hours, son. We were the first group to go into the chamber with Vegeta," Goku answered calmly.

The air was filled with tension as Gohan still couldn't get over something inside him.

"Dad, why didn't you step in back there? I feel like Vegeta went too far, even though I now basically have to go through with this."

"I talked to Vegeta after we got in here. I told him that he went too far, there's no doubt about that," Goku talked in a measured tone as Vegeta shadow-sparred out in the training area.

"But the reason I didn't step in was that he was right about one thing."

"That is?" Gohan questioned him.

"When we pass on someday, there has to be someone here that's strong enough to protect Earth. You have unlimited potential in you, you alway have, and even training in here for another year may help ensure that everyone is safe whenever that day comes," Goku replied, as Gohan realized how far ahead his father had been thinking.

"I know you don't like fighting, Gohan. I know how much you love your family. And if you want to protect them, this is the best way for the moment. I won't let you take the heat, so don't sweat it, okay?"

"I understand now," Gohan said as he hugged his father, who returned the favor.

"I won't let you down. I promise."

"Alright. Now, the big question here: Are you able to tap into the power the Elder Kai unlocked in you before you fought Buu?" Goku asked.

"Heh, about that…" Gohan trailed off. "I kind of forgot how to tap into it."

"Then that's the first thing we'll do. We have a year and then two more days on the outside, so we have time," Vegeta chimed in, leaning against one of the poles leading to the training area.

Goku clasped a hand on Gohan's shoulder, not having to communicate in words if he was ready, with the younger Saiyan nodding in confirmation.

The next few days inside the chamber were spent getting Gohan to his Ultimate Form, which he finally tapped back into after a few close tries, and it wasn't long after he could hold it with absolute ease.

"I was worried that it might take longer to get you ready, but you've always been a quick study," Goku commended him.

With a mighty shout, Goku powered up to Super Saiyan Blue as Vegeta trained off to the side for the moment, as he faced Gohan in his Ultimate form.

"I'm ready, dad. Go for it," Gohan said as he dashed in and threw a right hook that connected with Goku's fist, sparks of energy flying off from the blow, with Gohan wearing a slight smile.

The two separated after a few moments and got into position, as they were ready to begin round two of their clash. At that moment, Goku felt pride swell up within him.

"By the time we're done here, he could surpass us all again, just like he managed to do in the chamber when were training for Cell all those years ago," Goku thought with a slight grin.

"Let's go!" Goku yelled out as the two rushed at each other again, and the sparring session raged on.

Three Days Later

Neutral Space

The Nameless Planet

It took a while after meeting up at the rendezvous point, but the fighters reached the arena space where they and Universe Six would be laying it on the line, with Goku excited like a little kid.

"Man, this looks awesome," Goku said, marveling at the grand stage and seating areas. "There's even a snack vendor down there!"

"I'm just itching to fight," Vegeta stoically responded as he was deep in thought, analyzing it all.

"However, seeing how competitive Lord Beerus' brother seemed earlier, I doubt this will end up being a cakewalk. There'll be some warriors to push us, and when that time comes, my Blue power will crush anyone in my way," Vegeta thought when he turned around and saw the others already hanging out.

"Gohan, I hope you're ready," Vegeta called out.

"Yeah, I am thanks to you and dad," Gohan replied, as he went off to see Pan and Videl for a few moments before the match, with Goku following him up as well.

"You look ready. You're way stronger than when you fought Buu back then, that's for sure," Goku opined as Gohan just nodded back.

"We've got this dad. I'm going to do my best to make you and everyone else proud," Gohan thought to himself.

Goku was going to say something else, but suddenly he felt the other fighter's energies pop up. Stopping to turn around, he saw Champa and his team settling into the arena space.

"So, Universe Six is here," Vegeta acknowledged as he began looking over to their area.

"They also brought their families along like we did," Vegeta noted as the crowd on their side chatted amongst themselves as they waited for the tournament to start.

When Vegeta looked over to the fighters area, he spotted them: three Saiyans talking amongst each other.

"Hey Kakarot, follow me," Vegeta called out as they both headed over to check out the competition.

"So, you three are Saiyans like us, right?" Vegeta inquired as Kale, Cabba, and Caulifla spun around to see Vegeta and Goku land on the platform.

"Yep, we are! I'm Cabba, by the way," Cabba responded cheerfully.

"Nice to meet you, Cabba, I have to ask, is it true that you three are from Planet Sadala?" Vegeta asked him, getting an affirming nod back to answer his question. Vegeta couldn't get help but grin a little.

Goku moved to flank Vegeta's right side, holding his hand up in a sort of greeting.

"Yo! My name is Son Goku."

"Cabba, it's a pleasure," Cabba replied.

"I'm Kale," Kale piped up.

"And I'm Caulifla," Caulifla said with a smug smirk.

"So, we're up against three other Saiyans?" Vegeta mused quietly and thoughtfully.

"Guess again. You'll be fighting four Saiyans," Caulifla shot back.

Vegeta was confused by Caulifla's statement.

"Four? Who's the fourth?" Vegeta asked.

"I think you might be familiar with him," she replied, not giving any hints.

"Well, well, I'm surprised you both are still alive. But then again, not really," an all too familiar voice called out from behind the Universe Seven Saiyans.

"This energy!" Goku and Vegeta thought simultaneously, as they turned around to be stunned by who was standing before them.

"Hey there, Kakarot, Vegeta. It's good to see everyone," Vegito said with a grin as he stood a few feet away from the group.

"VEGITO!?" Goku and Vegeta screamed in absolute shock, as the Saiyan duo came face to face with the fused fighter they once were.

Editor's Note

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This chapter took a little longer than expected (but not by much), but I finally hit on a deadline! I had to patch up some holes and get approved dialogue added in for the story to be wholly complete. I also put this chapter through a second round of editing to come out with the current version, with the next chapter hopefully sent my way soon by the author.

The author told me that only two fights are going to take place in Chapter 40, but I have no knowledge of who the fighters will be in all of the matches, or of what happens for almost the entirety of the tournament, so I'm just as curious as all of you! This slightly shortened chapter should also allow for more chapters to be produced at a faster rate with my now loose schedule for the time being.

Enjoy this little present as I enjoy finally having time to write and edit again! Cheers!
