Katie ran out of the house and straight to her Fathers old house, she quickly made her way to the safe and after a couple of guesses managed to find the code. She opened it to find the keys to her Fathers properties and a lot of cash. She grabbed them and stuffed them into her backpack before making her way out of the back door. She jumped on a bus and got into town where she bought a pay as you go phone before going into a Starbucks. After ordering a coffee she managed to find a seat next to a plug where she charged her phone and set it up, the first thing she did was text Sean.

"I've run away, long story but the police want me to go to Mum's do you want to come with me?"

"This will be mint, lets go" the reply came back almost straight away.

Katie was happy she wouldn't be on her own, at least now she would have some company but she had to decide where to go. After another coffee, Sean finally arrived.

"Hay Babe, I can't wait for this holiday"

"It's not a holiday" Katie said after giving him a hug, as soon as the lawyers sort it with Rachel I will be back.

"So where are we going?"

"I don't know, I was going to go to my Dad's house in France, but I left a note for Rachel saying that's where I was going"

"Then we don't go there then, that's the first place they will look, they will be looking for us at Dover"

Katie pulled out all the keys from her bag.

"I've got keys to all my Dad's houses"

"Where are they?"

"There is one in Edinburgh, and one in Donegal, and this one is in the Lake District" she said pulling out the keys.

"Lets go to the Lake District" he said before they went to the train station.

Rachel was pacing the floor, she was terrified, Katie was only 14 and too young to be out on her own.

"Rachel come and sit down" Eddie said as he came in with 2 cups of tea

"I just can't, if something happens to her Eddie, I will never get over it"

"Honey, she will be fine, she has money, and we know she has went off on her own, its not like anybody forced her"

Rachel sat next to Eddie who placed an arm around her shoulder

"I just can't sit here doing nothing" Rachel said

"There is nothing you can do, you need to stay here in case she comes back"

"She won't be back, not until we can get a lawyer to sort this and she doesn't have to go to Kimberly's that woman ruined mine and Mel's life, I won't have her ruing Katie's"

Rachel placed her head into the nook of Eddies shoulder as he gently stroked her arm whilst tears started to fall from Rachel's eyes.

Katie and Sean finally arrived the next day at her Dad's house, she used the key to open up and disabled the alarm before falling onto the sofa.

"This place is amazing" Sean said as he took in his surroundings, a massive open plan living room with a massive log fire leading into a dining room and kitchen. The stairs led up to 5 bedrooms, and at the back of the ground floor a conservatory w ith a door opening to reveal a hot tub.

"My Dad bought it years ago for his first wife, Rachel and Mel's Mum" Katies eyes drifted to a portrait above the fire place.

"No way, is that Mason"

"Yeah and my other sister Mel with their Mum and our Dad, I think Rachel was about 11 then, it was before her Mum died" Katie said as her stomach rumbled, she remembered she hadn't eaten in ages.

"I didn't realise I was so hungry, but there is nothing in"

"Why don't I go out for supplies, we don't want your face seen about and"

"The closest shop is a mile down the road, there are some bikes out the back, pity we can't drive there is a car in the garage"

"I can drive, my brother taught me" he giggled, Katie jumped up and grabbed the keys it would be a lot better if they had a car

"But won't they be looking for you, do they not know you are missing too"

"No, I told my Dad I was going to stay at my brothers, he will have no idea. You stay here, have a bath and Ill head to the shop" Sean said before kissing Katie and leaving for the shops.

Rachel didn't make it to work the next day she was at their family lawyer, who was positive that after Kimberly abandoning Katie at 5 weeks old, her fathers will specifying that Rachel was to look after Katie and that Katie was 14 and old enough to have a say in her own life. This made Rachel feel more positive, but she knew it wouldn't happen in a hurry.

Rachel got her phone out and tried to call Katie's mobile again, but still was getting no answer, she sent her a text message hoping it would get through to let her know that the meeting with the lawyer had went well.

Sean made it back from the shops and Katie cooked bacon and eggs for them, her hair was wet and she had a robe on that she had found upstairs in her room, she forgot she had some clothes left here.

They had their breakfast before flopping onto the couch with a blanket over them where they sat and watched DVD's for the day with the fire roaring.

"Sean, don't you think the Police will check all of Dad's houses for me, maybe we should turn the lights out and the fire off"

"You worry too much, but maybe we should close the curtains and put the fire out" Sean agreed, with the house no looking in darkness and with enough food to last a week they were settled.

Eddie made it back to Rachel's after work, to find her sitting on the sofa in her own world

"Hi love, how was the lawyer"

"It was good, they think we can get her back"

"I don't think she is on her own, Sean didn't show up for class"

"Really, I don't know how I feel about that, I am glad she isn't on her own, but I don't like the idea of them being alone together"

"You worry too much, she is a sensible girl" Eddie started to massage her shoulders just as the door went.

Eddie answered the door to find the police there.

"We just wanted to update you, Katie has not gone to France, we have checked the other properties in the UK and all are in darkness and look closed up"

"Thanks officer, will you please keep looking, I am worried about her, especially if she isn't at any of the houses"

"Of course, if you hear anything will you let us know"

"Yes, I have tried calling but its just going to voicemail"

The Police left and Eddie held Rachel, she was really worried about Katie and where she was.
