Kagome found herself standing alone. She looked around and everything she saw was white. She did not know where she was and was beginning to wonder how did she even get there. However, her attention was stolen. In the far distance, she could see someone walking away from her. Familiarity entered her heart, she knew this silhouette, this lonely figure.

All at once everything within her knew she had to catch up to whoever was leaving her. Kagome began running after the person. As she ran she kept yelling after the person, telling them to stop. The distance between them seemed endless. Kagome did not know if the person could not hear her or they simply ignored her, but they kept walking, never even turning an eye to glance at her.

This vexed Kagome for some reason, causing her to swell with frustration.

Why aren't you stopping?! Why are you leaving me?! She could hear her thought demanding.

Finally not able to contain her violent emotions, she collapsed. While she remained on the ground, all she could do was break down. Why did everyone always leave her? Papa? Inuyasha? Yuki? Why? Why does she have to be the one left behind? Why?

"Why? Why are you leaving me? What did I do wrong? I'll change. I swear I'll change, just don't leave me..." Kagome muttered between sobs.

Kagome could feel a hand caressing her cheek. It was gentle and cool to the touch. It brought great relief to Kagome. It soothed the throbbing in her head and appeased the ache in her heart. Her breathing settled, and her fever cooled. She noticed how each time the hand lifted from her face, the pain returned. A feeling of anticipation arose within her. She kept track of when it touched her, the pain disappeared, and when it did not, the pain reappeared.

Kagome found this very strange. Why did this person's touch soothe her so? And now that she thought about it, who are they? Her mind needed to know who it was. Mama? Souta? Gi-chan? And a secret part of her heart wished it was Inuyasha.

Slowly the hand moved to her temple, softly moving her hair away from her face. After a few moments, she could feel a pair of lips pressed on her forehead. Kagome tried opening her eyes, impatient to see who was kissing her, but her eyelids remained stubborn. No matter how hard she tried, her eyes would not budge.

Who are you? Kagome thought before falling back to sleep.

Suddenly, the scenery changed. Everything was no longer plain white but calming hues of pinks, purple and orange. Being too distracted by her own emotions, Kagome did not notice this change until someone called out to her.

"I was leaving you for your own good... Me staying will only bring you pain," a voice explained.

Kagome looked up, the figure had finally stopped. They were still a great distance away from her, but nonetheless, they finally stopped walking away from her. Relief flooded her senses, and her crying was reduced to mere hicups.

Kagome stood up and steadied herself. She took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled.

"Who says?! Who says being with you will only bring me pain?! You! Only you!" Kagome screamed.

"Kagome! This is for your own good!" The figure yelled back.

Kagome angrily shook her head, "No! No, it's not! You're doing this for yourself! You're not leaving me for me, you're leaving because you're afraid! You're just afraid!"

"Fine! You're right! I'm afraid! I'm afraid of hurting you! I'm afraid that when you see the real me you'll leave me!" The figure paused, before finally admitting, "I'm afraid of when you learn the truth you'll hate me一"

"That's not for you to decide!" Kagome interrupted.

As Kagome started walking towards the figure, she had a stubborn gleam in her eyes.

"Maybe I will be hurt in the end. Maybe I will leave you in the end. Or maybe I will hate you in the end, but those are only possibilities," Kagome reasoned.

Magically, only after taking a few steps, Kagome was face to face with the figure. Kagome could not see their face, or anything really. Darkness enveloped them, making it impossible to distinguish who they were, but her intuition told her she knew them and that she needed them. Like, their name was at the tip of her tongue, but inexplicably, she could not name them.

Kagome gave them a hopeful smile as she spoke, "You know, there are other possibilities, right? Maybe I won't get hurt in the end. Maybe I won't leave you in the end. Maybe I won't hate you in the end... Maybe we're meant to be with each other."

Her companion sighed, "I really can't win when it comes to you."

Hearing the happy undertone of her complain she knew they were happy to lose.

"And is that a bad thing," she teased.

"No, a man is always happy to lose to his future wife," the figure nonchalantly replied.

"Yeah, that's right一Wait, what?! Future wife?! What are you talking about?!" Kagome her eyes went wide as she became flustered.

Her companion chuckled, "Didn't you just say, I shouldn't leave you and that maybe we're meant to be with each other?"

"Yeah, but that was a maybe! And that was in the moment! I didn't mean it, in that way!" Kagome frantically tried to explain herself.

"So I shouldn't stay? I guess I'll be leaving then," The figure said as he back away from Kagome.

Without uncertainty, Kagome grabbed their hand, "No! Stay!" Kagome closed her eyes, collected her thoughts, then continued, "I'm sorry. I do want you to stay. It's just you caught me off guard with the future wife part... so I panicked."

Kagome felt the figure squeeze her hand, causing her to open her eyes and look up at them.

"I know. I just wanted to tease you a little bit. But I really do have to go, my time is up," the figure confessed.

"Wait! Leaving for good?!" Kagome panicked.

The figure laughed, "After all of that?"

"Then when will I see you again?" Kagome asked.

"Sooner than you think," they replied.

After those words left the figure's lips, Kagome's vision began to blur.

"Wait! Who are you?!" Kagome managed to ask before everything went dark.

"Your future husband," her companion mused under his breathe.
