So, as always, please review :)

~ "Okay." Kate sighed as she walked into the school lab, cell held to her ear with her shoulder as she balanced her notebook and text book.

Peter looked up at her from where he was sitting at a microscope and smiled.

She smiled back, quickly setting her books down so she could grasp her phone. "I know I still have to be home by 5 but I need the lab time." She said. "I'm just studying. I promise." She paused, listening to Clint on the other end for a moment. "Peter?" She said and looked over as the teen boy gave her a curious look. "Yes he's here. I told you I was meeting him and Ned."

"Ned cancelled." Peter said quietly.

Kate held a finger to her lips. "Oh my god big brother, you're driving me crazy." She said with a groan. "Yes, I'll be back at 5. Bye!"

She hung up and shook her head, running her fingers through her hair. Peter reached out and gripped the edges of her jacket, gently tugging to bring her closer.

She smiled, placing her hands on his shoulders as his hands went to her hips drawing her closer so she was now standing between his legs. She leaned down to kiss him softly, which he returned.

After a minute the two pulled apart.

"Hi." Kate said softly, smiling.

"Hi." Peter replied back, grinning, before pulling her back into a gentle kiss. ~

"We have to keep moving." The quick shake of her shoulder startled Kate from her brief nap. It took a fraction of a second for her consciousness to recoil from its wakened state and she hissed in slight pain.

The heat was oppressive. Kate muttered a colorful curse as she pushed a limp curl behind her ear as it stuck to her cheek, feeling her T-shirt cling like a wet napkin. She blinked as a brief flash of light reflected back at her from the sun hitting metal as a beam came through the trees. She squinted up at Bucky who was watching her closely.

"Can you stand?" He asked.

"Yeah." She rasped tongue feeling like sandpaper as he took her arm and pulled her to her feet. She winced as the movement pulled at the wound on her side, but it didn't feel like it had opened again.

Good. The stitches are holding.

They had been moving through the thick jungle for the past four hours trying to get as far as they could from their crashed plane and towards the general direction that Kate had seen a small village. With any luck they would have some way to get word out for EVAC.

"Can I ask you something?" Bucky asked after thirty minutes of walking as he helped her climbed over a raised tree root.

"Hmm?" She muttered as she focused on not falling, splinting her side with her hand as best she could.

"What happened between you and the spider-kid?" He asked carefully.

Kate looked up with a nonplused expression. "Is this your attempt to distract me? Because it's terrible." She said in a deadpan voice.

Bucky shook his head. "I'm just curious. You guys seemed happy for a while." He said.

Kate chewed her lower lip as her adjusted the rifle strap over her shoulder. "I doesn't matter." She replied. "Not anymore."

Bucky didn't appear satisfied with that answer but didn't not question her further.

It was a feeling, a chill down the spine, that told them they were being watched. However, they continued on. It would be a problem when it became a problem.

They continued to walk for another hour before they saw a break in the jungle. They stood at the edge of the trees and surveyed what was to come; it was open planes for a while but they could make out a village not an unreasonable distance away.

"What do you see?" Bucky asked.

Kate raised an eyebrow. "Rhinos." She replied.

Bucky turned to her, clearly wondering if she was developing heat stroke.

Kate smiled and nodded towards the village. "I see rhinos. Very big rhinos."

You shouldn't have to guess too hard where they are :D
