Chapter Fourty
Damn straight!
...
...
"I can't believe you are seeing Theodore Nott!" Hermione shouted the night after their last O.W.L's. "And you didn't even inform me till now!"
"What are you angrier about Hermione, the fact I'm seeing Theo or that I didn't tell you till now?" Téa questioned from her place on her bed, book in hand. "Because I didn't tell you prior as we were going through O.W.L's and I doubted you wanted to be distracted from it. You were already stressed as it was, didn't need more now did you."
"But you're my best friend!" Hermione exclaimed before bouncing onto her friend's bed making her bounce ever so slightly. "You're supposed to tell me these things!"
"oh come now Hermione, it's not like everything has changed, I'm simply dating Theo and really, the one date we went on got destroyed by bloody Dementors attacking Hogsmeade." Téa laughed, semi surprised by her friend's actions and willingness to talk about this subject.
"Have you kissed?" Hermione asked making Téa blush and look away from her friend. Sadly, it did nothing to hide her blush from Hermione who let a very girl squeal leave her lips. "You did!"
Swinging her legs off her bed, Téa moved to her wardrobe and started pulling clothes out. Tomorrow was their last day, so she'd rather pack her trunk tonight than tomorrow night. At least that is what she was telling herself.
"What are your plans for the summer?" she questioned, hoping to change the subject away from her recently gained a boyfriend to another topic.
"I'm supposed to go to Spain with my parents this summer, but only for the first three weeks," Hermione answered before eyeing her up. "I suppose you won't be returning to your aunts and uncles."
"No clue, it's in Sirius and Ameilia's hands, not my own." She remarked, yet what she didn't tell Hermione was that if Sirius told her she had to go back to the Dursley's, she wouldn't be there long. She'd be starting her journey the moment summer started. "They would have a conversation with our wonderful Headmaster tonight to see what my fate was considering they are the "Adults", or so they say."
"I thought with Sirius being innocent that you could live with him," Hermione whispered, earning a snort from her best friend.
"Not with Dumbledore sticking his overly large nose where it doesn't belong." She remarked before tiring of packing her trunk by hand. Grabbing her wand she muttered a quick spell and suddenly all her possessions where being folded and packing themselves into her trunk. Within minutes it was all done, and she flopped back on the bed. "Spain sounds nice, how are they handling the news of Voldemorts return?"
Almost instantly, Téa noticed how Hermione's figure tensed and her gaze moved away from Téa and it became clear why her friend was trying to avoid her gaze.
"You didn't tell them," she whispered unsure if she was happy about this or worried.
"No, no I haven't," Hermione mumbled the happiness seemingly evaporating away to leave gloom. "I don't know how to tell them, they'll want to remove me almost immediately and I – I won't leave this world behind. I have just as much to fight for in this world than anybody else and I don't want them to force me into silence."
"Hermione, they are your parents – they would want to know that you're in danger," Téa whispered before placing a hand on her friend's shoulder. "If you were a parent, wouldn't you want to know?"
"It's completely different, they are muggles and I am a witch." Hermione snapped back before wilting. "I want to protect them Téa, they might be my parents but they aren't fully part of this world. Vold – Voldemort doesn't want muggles to be in the magical world, no he believes that all magical people are above muggles. Even worse, because I'm known to oppose him and the dark, they might become targets of the dark."
"Hermione – what if I helped you talk to them?" Téa offered, causing Hermione to look at her in surprise. "It would be better for them if they were safe, we can talk after you return from your holidays."
"But what would it do?" Hermione whispered sadly, "You're even younger them I am Téa, they wouldn't listen to you. I don't know what to do Téa, I love them but I'm worried I'm going to have to protect them in the worst way but removing myself from their lives. At least if they don't remember having me, and I hide them, they would be safer."
Wrapping her arms around her friend, Téa pulled her back with her so that they were both resting against her bed cuddled together. She felt terrible for Hermione, if the brunette wouldn't have been her friend, at least the level of danger she and her family would have been in would have been less so then it was now, but she couldn't change what was happening today and in reality, her life wouldn't be as fun without Hermione. The brunette was an important part of her life, her sister from another mother and she didn't want to lose that friend.
She knew she'd do anything for her friends, and that extended to her friend's families. She would need to find something to help Hermione and even with her friend travelling abroad, she was worried. Who knew how far Voldemort and his people had gotten outside of England, they could easily follow the Grangers to Spain and attack them there if it meant hurting her. She was being paranoid, yes that was certain but they were at war and she wanted to protect her friends.
"I'll help you in any way I can Hermione." She whispered, a plan forming in her mind at the thought of the Grangers.
…
With O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's over, the school was much more at ease as students gathered in the Great Hall for the end of term notice. At Gryffindor table, Téa was sitting beside Hermione while Ron sat before her. It felt nice to be enjoying the end of year term feast, she'd missed the beginning of term feast after all.
Just then the sound of a glass being chimed pulled everybody's attention to the front of the hall where Headmaster Dumbledore stood.
"Another year over, filled with hard work, turmoil and an adventure for all. This year has been a hard one, I acknowledge this. Attacks have taken their toll on our world that I cannot deny. The attack on St-Mungos, one that could have been exceedingly deadly, another only a few short days ago with Dementors yet through each attack and recovery you have remained strong fast and bonded together to reassure and strengthen each other.
Throughout the year we, Professors of Hogwarts, do our best to bestow upon you all the gift of knowledge, the gift of education. This gift lasts a lifetime. The gift of knowledge is a key, a key that will prove useful to you in the years to come when you face new challenges. This key will help you open doors to new worlds and here you will receive tools you need to understand concepts which were previously incomprehensible to you. Keys that lead to the magical world of potions, transfiguration, charms, and the one subject we neglect most of all – History. History is an exceptionally important topic to learn from for if we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat it.
As a Professor, it is my duty and the duty of all professors to pass knowledge on to the future generations that pass through our halls yet without an open mind, that knowledge may not be as effective as you might wish.
You are all exceptionally intelligent and determined magic-users with the capability to think for yourselves remember that.
Also note, to all who may need it, Hogwarts is open to all who need her; she will never push a person away no matter their need. Now, I will end my speech here and allow you all to enjoy the last dinner for the year as the elves have bestowed upon us a wonderful dinner."
With that, the Headmaster sat, and the tables became full of foods and drinks. For a moment the hall seemed to absorb all the words the headmaster spoke before slowly beginning to converse between themselves.
Looking towards her plate, Téa thought about all those people who could possibly need the help of the castle they were currently in and her eyes moved up to settle on Slytherin house. She wasn't blind; she'd noticed a clear split within the house with some students standing away from others.
"Here's hoping to a good summer," Ron mumbled even though it was clear he wasn't fully confident. "Do you know what's happening for your summer?"
"No, however before arriving I got a note saying I need to present myself to the Headmaster's office after the feast. I'll know my fate then." Téa declared before finally moving to get some food.
She didn't want to voice the fact that she was actually hoping she'd be sent back to the Dursley's. The reason being she wanted to go out to find Le Fey Castle. She wanted to find her family home, restore it back into power but before she was to do that she needed to go to Gringotts.
"Neville, what about you?" Hermione asked curiously, causing their tall Gryffindor friend to look up and for the first time since they'd started Hogwarts, he actually looked extremely excited about the summer holidays.
"I've been told that Longbottom Summer home has been placed under strong wards and that we're to occupy Longbottom Stronghold until the end of the war. Gran doesn't want to take any chances and has placed the Longbottom Family under especially strong wards." He remarked although he didn't really move past that as it was still not common knowledge that the Longbottoms had regained their strength. "The last time it was occupied was during the war against Grindelwald."
"Wasn't Longbottom Stronghold, the original Family Ancestral home?" Seamus questioned curiously making Hermione frown.
"Original? I didn't think families changed their ancestral home."
"They don't normally, but the Longbottom Family is a very old family, during time of war, the Stronghold is exceptionally well protected but because of that, it lacks a certain grandeur that an Ancestral home truly has. Longbottom Manor is just as old so they both share the title of Ancestral home however the Stronghold is barely lived in." Neville explained.
"Wow, that's – wow," Hermione mumbled not really sure how to react. It was hard to believe that some families were so old that they held multiple properties and she couldn't help but look towards her best female friend who was eating a piece of pork.
Out of all the families, she'd read up on the most mysterious was the Potter family. They were relatively new, and yet they had the wealth of some of the oldest families out there, not much was known about the Potters either. People considered Potter Manor as the Ancestral home of the Potter family but it was just as old as the Potters and they weren't that old.
Wasn't long before the conversation moved onto other areas and before long they were returning to their dorm although as her friends were making their way to their dorm, Téa made her way to the Headmasters office. As she arrived at the gargoyle she gave the password before walking up the spiralling steps. The moment she arrived she went to knock only for the door to open revealing her godfather.
"Sirius," she greeted warmly earning a large smile from the man as he pulled her in for a hug.
"Good to see you pup, come in we have lots to discuss." He welcomed before pulling away and leading her to a chair that was set up.
Amelia was standing by it and hugged her as well before she motioned for her to sit down. Taking the chair, she turned her gaze to the Headmasters. His blue eyes were gazing at them and it wasn't hard for Téa to realize exactly what he was going to say.
"I'm returning to the Dursley's aren't I?" she questioned, doing her best to sound slightly angry about the entire thing.
"After discussions, we decided it that you would return to your relatives for the first three weeks of the summer holidays, it would give the wards enough time to recharge before you can leave and join your godfather in Headquarters." Dumbledore declared calmly.
"We're not happy about it but it's your safety we are most worried about pup," Sirius whispered while squeezing her shoulder in what he hoped was a comforting manner.
"You do remember Dementors attacked me when I was at the Dursley's right, but that doesn't matter. Won't change your mind, sir, you always do what you consider as the best thing for a person without even consulting that person. You all forget that I am Lady Potter; I am an adult and so capable of choosing where I would like to live." She hissed before standing and aiming her glare at the Headmaster before turning her glare to the two adults who were looking very shocked by her seemingly level headed anger. "Take note you are adults in my life, but you do not decide for me. I am perfectly capable of making my own and will make my own. I'll return to my relative's home this summer but I am not impressed by this."
With that, she left the office, completely her perfect portrayal of anger towards the trio inside the room and leaving three shocked adults behind. Leaving the gargoyle behind, a smirk swiftly appeared on her lips.
Yes, she'd return to her relative's house, but that didn't mean the relative's house would be Privet Drive. She fully intended to find her Ancestral home.
…
The trip back to London passed smoothly for the students, although the extra security on the train has some worried about possible attacks. For the trio, it was an interesting ride home as they were not alone in their compartment. They were joined by a Theo, Blaise, Flora and Hestia and although tense at first it swiftly fell into relaxed chatter, especially as Hermione talked to Hestia and Flora while Ron played chest with Blaise.
As they arrived at Kings Cross, they rose to follow everybody off the train but Téa held Theo back.
"We're probably not going to be able to see each other this summer," she remarked.
"I know, you better not get friendly with another guy, don't know if I'd survive." He joked making Téa laugh before she reached up and pulled him down to meet her lips.
"Don't you go falling for another girl either," she whispered making him smirk before he bent down and pressed his lips to hers.
For a moment they allowed themselves to simply be before they pulled away and walked out of the train. It was agreed that they would do their best to not advertise their relationship. It wouldn't last long but for now, it would do.
Stepping onto the platform they joined their friends and swiftly made their way to their various areas. The Slytherins were to take Portkeys home and it wasn't long before they were separated. As they slipped out through the barrier, Téa wished her friends a good summer telling them that the Dursley's were going to meet her outside.
She felt guilty, lying to her friends yet as she slipped into an alley and disappeared she squashed it down. She had no wish to return to the Dursley's and she had things to do. Lying to her friends, she could handle that if it meant achieving her goal for the summer.
It would only be hours later that the Order would realize that she never returned to the Dursley's and Dumbledore was hurriedly contacted yet the Order would not find Téaleon Potter, not until the young teen wanted to be found.
