Despite having a type advantage Pikachu still had a rough start to his battle, considering that Slowbro commenced the battle intensely by using a super effective and powerful in general move on him (being earthquake.) Naturally, Pikachu was completely taken aback by this move choice and he struggled to keep his guard up because of his shock. Then again like always, the electric mouse was able to pull through and he was now more warmed up than ever.

"Yes, Pikachu!" Ash cheered as he encouraged his partner pokemon. "Now run around the field with quick attack and agility. Use double team and thunderbolt as well."

"Rain dance."

Will mused, 'Slowbro's water type moves have now been boosted in power.'

Ash smirked, which confused Will slightly, 'Yes! Now the accuracy of 'thunder' has been increased.'

"Thunder."

The elite four member was now holding his head in his hands, 'That was stupid of me, but at least I now know why he was looking at me so smugly.'

"Slowbro use reflect and light screen, then dig."

After Pikachu's lethal electric type move was used on Slowbro, he was hurt from the impact and was moving a little bit more slowly because of it. Nonetheless the water type was now underground, searching for the right time to strike. The electric mouse used double team again, in order to increase his chances of dodging the super effective move. He then waited patiently for Ash's next command, taking in a few extra breaths while he could.

"Jump up using your iron tail, then use nasty plot and electroball."

Pikachu's special attack stat was higher thanks to the nasty plot and thanks to the boost as well as the type advantage, electroball was a very powerful move to use as he was up in the air. Afterwards Pikachu trapped Slowbro using electroweb and thunderwave, along with draining kiss a couple of times to heal himself up. It was pretty clear at this point that Pikachu was winning the battle and that Slowbro was losing, since the electric type was in such a strong position compared to the water type.

"You've got this, Pikachu," Ash smiled. "Nasty plot, then Pika papow!"

"Slowbro is unable to battle, Pikachu has won this matchup. Please send out your next Pokemon."

"Thanks for fighting, Slowbro," Will faced the ground. "Go, Exeggutor."

Ash grinned, "You did great Pikachu and I'll need you again later, so rest while you can. Butterfree, I choose you! Begin with poison powder."

"Sludge bomb."

"Teleport to dodge."

The challenger was having a rather solid start to the new battle, but he also knew that it would only take so long for Butterfree to eventually get hit by an attack. However, the worst news was that Ash knew that he wouldn't last long after a move did. This meant that Ash's best hope in winning was dodging Exeggutor's moves for as long as possible whilst slowly draining his health.

"Egg bomb."

"Infestation."

Butterfree avoided the egg bomb without to much trouble and without teleporting, since there wasn't a high chance that it would land on him anyway. Exeggutor was already slowly losing health from being badly poisoned, but he was now losing even more by infestation. Ash knew that it would only take a little bit longer to take him down.

"Power whip."

"Quiver dance a couple of times, then bug buzz."

The bug type's super effective attack worked on Exeggutor, causing him to struggle slightly. It looked like Ash had a high chance in winning, but Will managed to turn the tables exceptionally quickly.

"Hypnosis and dream eater."

Ash bit his lip, 'Well, it's over for me now.'

Desperately, the trainer shouted, "Come on Butterfree, you can wake up!"

Surprisingly Butterfree was still flying in the air, but he was definitely asleep and there wasn't really a way to wake him up. On the other hand, Slowbro had already taken so much damage and he was on the verge of fainting. This situation triggered Will to make an incredibly reckless move, but it was one that Will knew would still work anyway.

"Exeggutor, finish this off with self destruct."

Will's opponent grimaced, 'At least it was a draw and I didn't lose, I guess."

"Both Pokemon are unable to battle! Please send out your next Pokemon."

The elite four member returned Exeggutor and released his next Pokemon, "Go, Jynx."

"Great effort, Butterfree," Ash petted him. "Gengar, I choose you!"

"Jynx, use calm mind."

"Destiny bond, then will-o-wisp."

Will pressed his lips together, 'Ah, that's annoying.'

The ice type was now burned and was going to faint if Gengar was ever defeated by her. Jynx' health was almost certainly going to decrease very quickly, as she is more sensitive to burns (being an ice type.)

"Use shadow ball."

"Gengar, nasty plot then foul play."

"Shadow ball again."

"You too Gengar, then dark pulse."

"Miracle eye."

"Perish song."

As soon as Ash gave that command, Will panicked, 'I only have 3 turns to defeat this ghost type... At least I used Miracle eye: now psychic type moves can actually touch him. I can't say the same some of Jynx's other moves, though. Then again, what Ash did was clever: he made sure that he would be completely unable to lose. Ash can only win or draw in this matchup now. However, I can still lose and that definitely isn't a good thing.'

"Calm mind."

"Hex."

Since Jynx had been burned, the power of the hex attack had been doubled. She was already about to faint and Gengar had a pretty good chance of winning. There were now only two turns left.

"Hypnosis."

Ash pulled a face, 'I forgot that psychic moves were able to affect Gengar now.'

"You too Gengar, before she uses it on you."

Now both Pokemon were asleep on the battlefield and there was still one turn left. The atmosphere was tense and the stadium was so silent that you could hear a pin drop.

Will muttered, "I don't think that I know what to do..."

On the other hand, Ash did and took a deep breath, "Sleep talk."

He prayed, 'I really hope it ends up being dream eater, or something like that.'

The elite four member winced, 'How did I not think of teaching that move to any of my pokemon?'

Jynx stood up for a second longer, before the burn became too much for her and she fainted. The effects of neither destiny bond or perish song had ended up being used.

"Jynx is unable to battle, Gengar has won this matchup. Please send out your next Pokemon."

Just after that had been announced by the commentator, Gengar had fainted in Ash's arms so he returned him so that the ghost type could rest.

The commentator stated the obvious once more, "It looks like Will is now on his last Pokemon... Will Ash be able to win, or will Will twist the battle to his side?"
