Chapter 55
"Hello everybody! This is it, the day we've been waiting for! The finals of the WRGP!" MC announced, causing the audience to roar in cheers. "After much intense duels, we've finally reached the 2 teams that have made it here on this stage! All that begs to ask is who will win?! Will it be Team 5Ds led by Yusei Fudo?! Or the mysterious newcomers Team New World?!"
"He sure knows how to rile up the audience." Aura remarked, before frowning. "By the way, why am I here with you guys?! I'm not a member of Team 5Ds!"
"Yusei asked your teammates if it was alright for you be here at our bench." Luna explained.
"He has every right to worry about you. Nearly being attacked and your chest pain from last night." Akiza frowned. "Are you sure you're not sick or anything?"
"I don't think I'd be able to get sick in this situation." Aura sighed.
"I should hope not." Crow added. "Oh look! They're starting. Jack and Lester are up first."
"Take him down Jack!" Leo grinned.
"Oh don't worry Leo, I will!" Jack told Leo via his video feed on his D-Wheel. Lester just laughed.
"Why don't you just admit that your team is way over their heads?" Lester grinned. Jack turned his attention back to Lester and scowled deeply.
"Says the guy about to duel me via a motorized skateboard." Jack shot back.
"Jack stay focus." Yusei frowned. "Remember he has his own Meklord, so stay cautious."
"Tone your worry meter down Yusei!" Jack retorted. "I've got this, just watch!" He turned his attention back to Lester as the countdown began. About 3 seconds later, the 2 had sped off from the starting line. After a bit, Lester pulled back; thus allowing Jack to speed past the first corner.
"Huh?" Leo wondered aloud. "Why did Lester do that?"
"He's probably underestimating Jack." Bruno frowned.
"Maybe." Akiza admitted before she narrowed her eyes slightly. "Or maybe it's all part of Team New World's plan."
"Well go ahead and make your move." Lester told Jack. "You did want the first turn after all."
"I know!" Jack snapped. "Here I go Lester! Draw!" (Jack's hand: 6 cards. Jack's LP: 4000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.) Jack looked at his hand and he grinned. "This hand is perfect! I'll start off by Special Summoning Red Gargoyle from my hand since I control no monsters!" A fiery-red gargoyle appeared onto Jack's field. (Red Gargoyle, Level 4 FIRE Fiend-type monster, ATK/DEF: 1200/1400. Jack's hand: 5 cards. Jack's LP: 4000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.) Jack then grabbed another card from his hand. "Next I Normal Summon Red Resonator! And due to Red Gargoyle's effect, Red Resonator's Level is doubled!" A small red fiend appeared next to fiery gargoyle. (Red Resonator, Level 4 (originally Level 2) FIRE Fiend-type Tuner monster, ATK/DEF: 600/200. Jack's hand: 5 cards. Jack's LP: 4000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.) Lester looked at Jack's 2 monsters and smirked.
"That's right. Synchro Summon, Signer!" Lester mocked. "Synchro Summon so I can power up my Meklord Emperor!"
"You want it so badly? Fine!" Jack clenched his right hand into a fist and raised his right arm upwards. "I tune my Level 4 Red Resonator with my Level 4 Red Gargoyle!" Both monsters turned into 8 fiery red stars that soared into the green pillar of light. "The ruler's heartbeats will now file through here! Take witness to its creation-shaking power! Synchro Summon! Level 8! My very soul, Red Dragon Archfiend!" The flaming red and black dragon appeared onto Jack's field with a roar. (Jack's hand: 4 cards. Jack's LP: 4000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.)
"There it is…..!" Lester's lips formed a sly smile. "Good!"
"I don't think you'll be too excited after this!" Jack retorted as he pulled another card from his hand. "Since a Red monster(s) was Summoned, I can Special Summon Red Necromancer from my hand to my field! And once that happens, I can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Tuner from my Graveyard! So return, Red Resonator!" The red fiend re-appeared onto Jack's field, next to the red-dressed necromancer. "And when Red Resonator is Special Summoned, I can target 1 monster on the field and gain LP equal to its ATK. Of course I choose my Red Dragon Archfiend to gain 3000 LP!" Jack's body glowed green as his LP rose to 7000. (Red Necromancer, attribute: FIRE, type: Spellcaster/Tuner, Level 2. ATK/DEF: 700/1600. Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.) Jack's Mark glowed red, as did his eyes with a burning passion. "If you thought I was done Lester, think again! I Double Tune my Level 8 Red Dragon Archfiend with my 2 Level 2 Tuner monsters!" Despite this, Lester wasn't surprised.
"Going all out right away? Man! You must really want to lose!" Lester laughed.
"Get that smug look off your face before I make you!" Jack snapped as the green pillar of light turned into that of a fiery red hot one. The total Levels of the 3 monster equaled 12. "The King and the Devil, here and now shall become as one. Savage soul! Lift up the very cries of Creation itself! Synchro Summon! Level 12! Come forth, Red Nova Dragon!" Out of the red hot pillar came forth a charred, yet burning with eternal passion, was as black and red dragon. (Red Nova Dragon, Level 12 DARK Dragon-type Synchro monster, ATK/DEF: 4500 (originally 3500)/3000. Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.)
"Whoa!" Leo gaped. "Amazing!"
"Going for broke on the get go." Aura muttered.
"That's Jack for you." Yusei smiled. "He throws his very best at you, whether you're ready for it or not."
"I set 1 card and end my turn." Jack finished. (Jack's hand: 2 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 5 cards. Lester's LP: 4000.) "Let's see what you got shorty!"
"With pleasure!" Lester grinned. "Draw!" (Jack's hand: 2 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 6 cards. Lester's LP: 4000. Jack/Lester's SpC: 1.) Lester looked at his hand and laughed.
"How ironic Jack! My hand is perfect too!" Lester cackled as he grabbed 5 cards from his hand and set them. "I end my turn with 5 set cards!" (Jack's hand: 2 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 1 card. Lester's LP: 4000. Jack/Lester's SpC: 1.) If Jack wasn't on his D-Wheel, he would have anime fallen, instead, he sweatdropped and an angry tick mark appeared above his head.
"Are you mocking me?!" Jack snapped.
"Nope!" Lester replied like an innocent child. "Go ahead!"
"Humph! Fine! I draw!" (Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Lester's hand: 1 card. Lester's LP: 4000. Jack/Lester's SpC: 2.)
"Uhh…..why didn't Lester do anything else?" Leo sweatdropped. "Surely he could have brought forth his Meklord Emperor."
"Or maybe he's just bluffing." Crow suggested. "Duelists tend to do that a lot." While Leo seemed in favor of that, Luna, Akiza, and Yusei, even Bruno, were not.
"Something's not right." Yusei frowned.
"Indeed Yusei." Akiza agreed with a frown on her face as well. "Why would Lester talk about his Meklord Emperor and stealing Jack's Synchro monster, but didn't Summon it? Let alone his Sky Core."
"Those set cards… They could be going for something bigger." Aura muttered.
"But what exactly?" Leo asked in wonder. Yusei remained silent as Jack unleashed a direct attack with Red Nova Dragon on Lester. An explosion occurred on Lester's side of the field due to Red Nova's fire blast attack. As the smoke cleared, Lester had a dark smile on his lips as his LP hit 0.
"Thanks Jack!" Lester grinned. "You just triggered 1 of my 5 set cards! The trap card, Infinite Aura!" The trap card flipped face-up to show a tiki's head. The tiki head appeared and glowed a dark purple aura as it absorbed all the damage; thus holding 40 Counters.
"A trap that gains counters through damage?" Bruno remarked in surprise.
"That's his big move?" Leo frowned deeply. "I'm not impressed.
"Counters from damage? But why…?" Aura began with a frown.
Lester got over to Team New World's pit and got off his D-Board and passed the team's sticker to waiting Primo. Primo took it gladly and sped off.
"Ugh! No fair." Lester pouted. "What good did I do?"
"Bring Team 5Ds closer to their defeat." Jakob replied coolly.
"Oh right!" Lester grinned.
As Jack sped around the track, Primo eventually caught up to him.
"So you're Team New World's 2nd teammate?" Jack scoffed. "I certainly hope you're much stronger than that pipsqueak!"
"Oh I can assure you that I am!" Primo retorted. "My move! Draw!" (Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Primo's hand: 6 cards. Primo's LP: 4000. Jack/Primo's SpC: 3.) Primo looked at his hand, then at Jack. "You're a waste of my time Atlas! Akiza and Yusei are the only ones that deserve my full power!"
"Just make your move!" Jack snapped.
"I will!" Primo spoke as he grabbed a card from his hand. "I Normal Summon Wise Core in Defense Position!" The grey and white machine core. (Sky Core, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 0. Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Primo's hand: 5 cards. Primo's LP: 4000. Jack/Primo's SpC: 3.) Afterwards, he activated a Speed Spell from his hand. "I now activate the Lightning Rod Speed Spell! SInce I 2 or more Speed Counters, I can destroy 1 monster on the field. I know Red Nova Dragon cannot be destroyed by card effects, but I'm destroying my Core! Wise Core begone!" The core shattered. "Now that he's gone, come forth my Meklord pieces! Meklord Emperor Wisel Infinity, Wisel Top, Wisel Carrier, Wisel Attack, and Wisel Guard! Together they form Meklord Emperor Wisel!" (Meklord Emperor Wisel Infinity, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 0. Wisel Top, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 500/0 Wisel Carrier, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 800/600. Wisel Attack, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 1200/0. Wisel Guard, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 0/1200. Meklord Emperor Wisel, Level 1 DARK Machine-type monster, ATK/DEF: 2500. Jack's hand: 3 cards. Jack's LP: 7000. Primo's hand: 4 cards. Primo's LP: 4000. Jack/Primo's SpC: 3.)
"So, there's your Meklord Emperor." Jack noted before he grinned. "Finally! A challenge!"
"Is that so?" Primo remarked as he thrusted his right hand forward. "Then I hope you don't mind if I absorb your precious Synchro monster! Go Wisel!" The white meklord's chest and eyes glowed and green energy ropes extended out of Wisel's chest to grab Red Nova Dragon. However…
"How stupid do you think I am?!" Jack shot back. "By banishing Red Nova from my field, your Meklord Emperor loses it target! Also, your attack will be negated!" The energy ropes retracted after the loss of its prey. Despite this, Primo just laughed.
"Yes! I do think you're stupid, Jack Atlas!" Primo sneered. "Thanks for ridding the field of your Synchro monster! Now I can play this! Infinity Assault! Now because you negated my effect, this card shall deal you 1000 damage for every card on my field!"
"What?!" Leo gaped. "Okay let's see...he's got 5 monsters, and 4 Spell/Traps…so…9000 damage?!"
"Actually, it's 5 monsters and 5 Spell/Traps because of Speed World 2." Luna pointed out with a deep frown. "So Jack is taking 10,000 damage."
"Ehhhh?! That's gonna hurt Jack really badly!" Leo gaped. "His D-Wheel might be even damaged severely!"
"This is bad!" Crow frowned.
"Wh-What?!" Jack's mouth fell agape. "So I'm taking ...10,000 damage?! That'll hurt me severely and my D-Wheel!"
"Do I look like I care? No I don't!" Primo sneered. "Now begone Atlas!" Infinity Assault fired a beam of energy at Jack. The energy beam connected and caused an explosive shockwave. The shockwave made Jack and his D-Wheel go flying through the air. Jack's D-Wheel landed near the starting line, while Jack landed on his back next to his D-Wheel. (Jack's LP: 7000 - 10,000 = 0.) Jack looked up to his team's pit area; his vision was blurred from his crash. He tried to say something into his comm, but it was just mumbled nonsense. He eventually blacked out. His team could make out one word he said though: "Sorry…"
"JACK!" They all yelled.
"Call in the medics!" MC yelled, as said medics came rushing out there. Akiza bit her lip before standing up from her chair and proceeded to leave their pit to head to her D-Wheel. Yusei watched her go with worry, but didn't say anything.
Just as Akiza reached her D-Wheel, the medics came in holding Jack up. Jack, without opening his eyes gave Akiza the team's sticker. Akiza silently gasped, but accepted the sticker nonetheless and placed it on her suit. As soon as she did, she started up her D-Wheel and sped off onto the track as soon as her D-Wheel's engine started.
"Yusei! Why didn't you stop Akiza from going?" Crow questioned. "You know how dangerous these guys are!"
"I know that." Yusei remarked. "But if Akiza didn't go, we'd lose right here."
"Oh. Yeah." Crow spoke.
"This is the final battle you guys wouldn't get out unscathed." Aura frowned, clutching her hands tightly.
"I know." Yusei nodded. "But Akiza can handle Primo without my help. I have faith in her."
"Let's hope you're right Yusei." Bruno agreed as he frowned at the monitor in front of him. "Otherwise you'll be going out there sooner than you think."
As Primo made the 3rd corner turn, Akiza caught up to him.
"Primo!" Primo glanced over his shoulder before he laughed.
"Finally! One of my two greatest rivals has gotten herself onto the duel track!" Primo grinned. "This'll be fun! For me that is!"
"Perhaps." Akiza agreed. "But even so…..you will not defeat me!" She clenched her right hand into a fist and put it on her chest. "There's too much at stake here for me to just come into this duel and lose! You know I'm no pushover Primo!"
"Yes I do." Primo grunted in agreement. He then raised his right index finger up and pointed it at Akiza as he turned his D-Wheel around. "But I'm no pushover either Akiza! You yourself know this! So does your boyfriend Yusei!" Akiza stared at Primo; not saying a word. Eventually, she spoke up.
"Let's start, shall we?"
"Yes we shall!" Primo grinned.
"DUEL!"
