Chapter 58
The audience were roaring with their cheers by the win of Team 5Ds, while Team Ragnarok walked up to them.
"Team 5Ds." Halldor voiced, he along with Dragan and Broder walked to them.
"Team Ragnarok." Yusei spoke.
"You managed to defeat Team New World." Halldor replied.
"Yeah. We did." Jack remarked.
"What brings you over to us?" Akiza asked.
"Came to give you congrats." Broder grinned. "I'm sure they'll do the same."
"Guys!" They looked to see Toru, Misaki, Sect, and Aura walking to them both Toru and Sect grinning. "You guys defeated New World!" Sect cheered.
"You really had us worried there Yusei." Toru replied.
"Pffft! I knew we'd win from the start!" Leo grinned.
"No you didn't!" Luna scolded her brother, yet even she was smiling.
"... All that matters is that you won." Misaki spoke with a light smile, having a hand to Aura's back who smiled and nodded.
"Pizza anyone?" Jack asked as he held up his phone. "I think pizza is best for a victory like this."
"Not unless we split the payment 50-50." Toru grinned. But before Jack could answer, the ground suddenly began to shake violently much to their shock.
"What's going on?!" Leo gaped. Aura looked above them and gasped. "The sky!" She choked. They all looked up and gasped to see the sky beginning to crack before shattering as the Ark Cradled was lowered.
"The Ark Cradle…..!" Yusei breathed.
"Shouldn't that thing not even be here since we won?" Crow wondered aloud.
"But then why has it appeared?!" Luna questioned.
"I don't think I like where this is going." Yusei frowned deeply.
"Yeah well, you're going to like this even less!" They all turned around, surprised to see Lazar rushing over to them. He eventually stops and catches his breath. "I need you all at the Public Maintenance Department immediately!"
"Alright." Yusei nodded.
"We'll come too." Toru spoke, Misaki and Sect nodding in agreement.
"That's fine!" Lazar told them. "Now come on!" He proceeds to sprint again; thus the others proceed to follow him.
"The output is down to 30% and is continuing to fall!"
"If this doesn't change, Moment will stop!" They all came in the building as power from Moment went out before switching to auxiliary power.
"The Moment has stopped?" Toru frowned.
"Director, the old Moment in the BAD Area is active." Another worker reported.
"What?!" Lazar gaped.
"But it is spinning the opposite direction." The worker replied.
"The Old Moment!" Yusei gasped.
"Is this because of Ark Cradle?" Jack questioned.
"Director, Chief Zigzix is contacting us." A worker spoke.
"Answer it!" Lazar responded. The screen changed to show the scientist in charge of Ener-D Research Department.
"Director Lazar! I have found out the cause for that floating creation is Moment in a negative spin!" He reported.
"Negative spin?!" Yusei questioned, shocked.
"See for yourself!" Zigzix replied, changing the screen. "This is a satellite analysis of the object and at the center of it is a large Moment surrounded by 3 Yusei Gears and going on a negative spin!"
"Which is causing Neo Domino's Moment to stop spinning." Jack concluded.
"Correct! As long as it continues to spin in that direction, all Moment in Neo Domino are stopped." Zigzix spoke. "And that is not even the worst news! For that object is gradually falling."
"What?!" They all gasped.
"At this rate, it will crash into the City in 12 hours! The impact will spread several hundred kilometers beyond Neo Domino City!" Zigzix told them. They all gasped, horrified by this revelation. Lazar was frowning.
"How long will it take to evacuate everyone from the City?" He questioned one of the workers.
"It would take at least 20 hours." The worker reported.
"But there's not enough time!" Crow frowned.
"I have to try Crow!" Lazar retorted.
"There has to be a way to stop the Ark Cradle!" Leo yelled desperately.
"... There is one way." Both Bruno and Misaki answered.
"Misaki?" Aura choked.
"Bruno?" Yusei spoke surprised.
"The center of Ark Cradle is the Moment with negative spin if we can strike it with a large enough positive spin." Bruno began.
"... Then the negative spin will become a positive spin." Misaki finished.
"But how can we reach it if Moment isn't even working?" Toru questioned. Aura frowned in thought before noticing the screen and grew wide eyed.
"Look." She spoke, pointing. They all looked and were surprised to see Team Ragnarok on their D-Wheels operating.
"Their D-Wheels are working!" Crow gasped. They quickly went outside the building as Team Ragnarok stopped in front of them.
"Team Ragnarok, why are your D-Wheels working?" Yusei questioned.
"Isn't it obvious?" Broder grinned as he revealed his Rune Eye.
"It's because of our Rune Eyes and the connection to the Nordic Gods." Halldor explained.
"I see. With the Rune Eyes, you aren't affected by the Negative Spin." Aura remarked lightly, walking to her D-Wheel. "Which means." She gripped the handle, her Mark beginning to glow and able to start the engine. "With the Crimson Dragon's power, we can operate out D-Wheels." She finished lightly.
"Which means you guys can reach Ark Cradle!" Sect grinned.
"Right." Yusei nodded.
"We can help you guys reach Ark Cradle." Dragan began. "But I'm afraid that's all we can do for you."
"That will be more than enough." Akiza smiled.
"I'm afraid that would be a mistake." They all gasped by the familiar voice looking to Yusei's screen to see Sherry Leblanc appear.
"Sherry!" Yusei gasped.
"Hey Yusei, Akiza, Aura." Sherry spoke. "But enough with the introductions. I'm on the Ark Cradle right now, and I've seen your 3's fates. Should you come here… You will die." Everyone grew wide eyed in shock by this.
"Yusei, Akiza, and Aura will die?!" Luna questioned, shocked.
"Who showed you that phony future?!" Crow demanded.
"Phony future?" Sherry repeated before she laughed. "It's not phony. It's true. Aura herself knows her Fate; regardless if she goes to the Ark Cradle or not. As for who showed me it…. The 2 Ancient Ones that are the leaders of Yilaster."
"Ancient Ones? Didn't Aporia talked about them before?" Leo questioned, confused.
"Aura by the visions bestowed upon you, you have seen one of them." Sherry replied. Aura grew wide eyed.
"I have?" She questioned before she gasped. "The visions of the white room and that thing I saw…!"
"So I wasn't the only one." Yusei remarked.
"That's right Yusei." Sherry replied. "But the one Aura saw is a woman. I'm sure she could tell based on the voice."
"So those 2 are the ones running Ylliaster." Jack frowned.
"Their plans are correct. Yusei, Akiza, Aura, you 3 will die if you try to save Neo Domino City." Sherry told them. "And the world in the future will be destroyed."
"So we should let Neo Domino City be destroyed?!" Akiza demanded angrily. "Tens of thousands of people will die!"
"That is of no concern to me." Sherry remarked. "I gave you my warning. I suggest you take it."
"Sherry." Aura spoke. "If that woman had told you what would happen to us. Then she also knows my Fate, right?" They looked at Aura confused as Sherry nodded.
"Yes she does." Sherry answered Aura's question.
"Then she told you how long?" Aura asked.
"...Yes you only have 1 month left Aura. 1 month left to live if you do not go to Ark Cradle." Sherry nodded. They all looked shocked (except for Yusei, Akiza and Jack) by this as Sherry went on. "I suggest using it instead of wasting it Aura."
"1 month huh?" Aura remarked, looking at her hand.
"Yes." Sherry repeated. "As I said, don't waste it helping your Signer friends. Live the last month of your life doing what you love. What you yourself cherish. Don't use that last month on something like this. It's not worth your time. Let your Signers save this City should they choose to. You shouldn't involve yourself in this."
"Sherry what happened to you?" Akiza demanded. "Last time I saw you, you were my opponent for my D-Wheel license test at the Academy."
"People change Akiza." Sherry replied coolly before ending the call. Everyone was silent before Aura spoke.
"Halldor, Dragan, Broder, you guys mentioned you have a way to bring us to the Ark Cradle, right?" She asked.
"That's right." Halldor nodded. "The Bifrost Bridge."
"Bifrost Bridge?" Akiza questioned.
"I've heard of it in the mythology." Aura remarked. "It's said that it was a rainbow bridge that connected Asgard, the realm of the Gods, to Midgard."
"You've done your homework." Broder remarked, as Halldor showed the spell card.
"With the help of our Nordic Gods, we can create the Bifrost Bridge that'll connect from here to the Ark Cradle." Dragan explained.
"However, we cannot hold it up forever." Broder added. "Because if we hold it up for too long, we'll begin to harm ourselves."
"So we'll have to be fast to get onto Ark Cradle before it disappears." Aura replied.
"Wait a minute Aura! You're saying you're going!?" Sect questioned, shocked.
"No doubt Yusei and Akiza will as well." Aura stated, glancing at her brother and friend. "Why shouldn't I?"
"You know why you shouldn't." Jack retorted. "Yet you insist on going anyway? Humph. Fine. Go ahead and get yourself killed."
"Jack! That isn't Aura's intention." Yusei frowned.
"I'm not going to die there, nor will I die after 1 month." Aura frowned. "Not if I can help it anyway. Halldor helped me realize I shouldn't stop from letting people in and to let them care about me. It's for that reason why I'll fight against Fate itself; even if-!" Aura gasped coughing as she clutched her neck.
"Aura, you're neck again?!" Toru gasped, rushing to her. He carefully pulled down her turtleneck and they were shocked to see dark bruises on Aura's neck.
"Aura were you choked?!" Crow gasped, shocked.
"Ugh…!" Aura grunted in pain.
"...The Crimson Dragon did this I take it?" Halldor asked. They looked at Halldor in surprise as Aura gave a strained smile.
"Yeah. As a warning." She replied.
"Warning?" Leo gaped. Yusei walked to Aura, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Aura… This is your Curse?" He asked.
"Jack told you?" Aura questioned, with a cough.
"No. The Gold Witch did." He replied. Aura grew wide eyed looking at Yusei. "She told you everything?"
"Yeah, she did." Yusei replied. "Hence why Sherry's words didn't surprise me regarding you." He glanced at Jack and Akiza, then back at Aura. "It seems Akiza and Jack figured this out on their own."
"Sorta. Though they misinterpret it, which resulted in a provocation from the Crimson Dragon." Aura sighed.
"We misinterpret?" Jack scowled. "No. I didn't misinterpret anyway. I don't need to have any powers to know that the Aura power you possess is degrading your body from the inside out. Just so you can save us from dying."
"Even if it weren't that power, itt would've found a way to kill me somehow." Aura sighed.
"What do you mean?" Crow questioned.
"Aura's Curse was inflicted on her because of humanity's fear of the Priestess. As a result, they are forced to die before they reach the age of 20." Yusei frowned.
"Curse?" Jack scowled. "If anything, I think this "curse" is just a limitation."
"We can discuss this later Jack." Akiza told him as she turned to face Dragan, Broder and Halldor. "Mind forming the Bifrost Bridge please?" The 3 Team Ragnarok members nodded at Akiza's words.
The others went to Satellite, going near the Daedalus Bridge while Team Ragnarok had went to the Old Moment in order to use the power to form the Bifrost Bridge. Yusei standing with Akiza and Aura.
"This will be the final battle." He remarked.
"One we will win." Aura stated.
"Yeah." Jack spoke as he, Yusei, Akiza, Aura, and Crow revved up their D-Wheels; following by Leo and Luna starting up their D-Boards.
"And none of us will die either." Akiza added.
"Of course not. I'd like to live long enough to see you 2 getting married someday." Aura smirked at Yusei and Akiza. Both Akiza and Yusei's faces turn dark red.
"Aura!" Both Yusei and Akiza gaped. Aura laughed before they looked to see an aurora form in the sky and a rainbow road forming onto the Daedalus Bridge.
"So that is Bifrost Bridge." She remarked.
"Yeah." Yusei remarked.
"Let's go!" Jack grinned as he sped ahead. The others began to follow closely behind him.
As the group rode the bridge and into the Ark Cradle, the bridge vanished upon them all entering. Before anyone could say anything however, the platform they were all standing on crumbled; thus they all began to fall. While they were falling, the group began to separate. The separation is as follows: Jack with Leo and Luna, Yusei with Bruno, Aura with Crow, Misaki by herself, and Akiza by herself.
Aura winced as she landed, causing the wheels to on her D-Wheel to screech before stopping; making her sigh in relief.
"Rough landing, but thankfully still kicking." She muttered. "Looks like we got seperated. I saw Crow, but looks like he landed farther ahead of me."
"Ouch!" Crow sat up after the rough landing. After he got up, he looked around. "Hey, where am I?"
"You're within one of the 3 gears that power the Ark Cradle." Crow turned to see Sherry walking towards him.
"Sherry!" Crow spoke.
"Humph. I figured the separation of your friendly band would be good enough." Sherry remarked.
"So this was your doing?" Crow demanded.
"Yeah." She remarked. "And since you're all alone, let me defeat you right here!" She activates her duel disk.
The first step to get my parents back starts now. Sherry thought as she noticed Crow also activate his duel disk.
"If I have to beat you to get my friends, so be it!" Crow told her.
"Ha. We shall see, won't we?" Sherry smirked.
"DUEL!"
As Aura took in her surroundings, she heard screaming from up ahead.
"That scream...Crow!" She gasped. She quickly ran to where the scream came from, seeing an entrance and rushed in. Upon entering, Aura can see Crow is out cold, Sherry standing in the center of the room, her back turned to Aura. While Aura couldn't see Sherry's expression, but if she could, it'd be that of a sly smile.
"So….you came after all…..Crimson Priestess-Aura Fudo." Sherry spoke coolly. She soon turned around. "Then again, I expected nothing less from Miss Stubborn herself."
"Sherry Leblanc." Aura remarked, before saying. "I don't know, I say Akiza deserves that title more than me."
"Humph. Only a Fudo deserves the title of stubborn." Sherry remarked. "Akiza is only stubborn because Yusei and Jack rubbed off on her." She paused, then added. "As for this fool." Gestures to Crow. "I don't really understand why the Crimson Dragon chose him to be a Signer. I don't see anything special about him. Not like the rest of you at least. Hell, even Leo is special and he's no Signer."
"What did you do to him?" Aura demanded with a frown.
"Defeated in a duel obviously." Sherry shrugged. "He's fine in case you were wondering. No injuries. Just incapacitated at the moment. He'll wake up soon. Probably after I kick your ass. But before that…" Sherry goes into her pocket and pulls out a card and reveals it to Aura. "Recognize it? It's Black-Winged Dragon. Sure it's a legendary dragon like the Signer Dragons, but unfortunately, it's not a Signer Dragon. So…" She rips the card in half, then tosses the 2 pieces down the shaft. "That card is a disgrace. The last real Signer Dragon will awaken soon." Aura grew wide eyed upon Sherry ripping the card before baring her fangs in fury.
"Why you!" She snarled ferally.
"Don't Aura! She's trying to provoke you!" Beatrice voiced to Aura.
"Yes, get angry at me." Sherry continued. "But I see no point in your anger at me. Oh wait, you didn't actually read up on the history between the Signers and the Earthbound Immortals, did you? The girl, Luna, knows what the last real Signer Dragon is. Black-Winged Dragon is just a replacement for the last one. It was never meant to be a Signer Dragon at all."
"Silence!" Aura roared, surprising Sherry. "I had always known Black-Winged Dragon was never truly one of the Original Signer Dragons. Don't take me for a fool. One of the effects to being a Priestess is we gain the memories of our predecessors. So naturally I knew. But that doesn't change the fact that the Crimson Dragon had chosen Black-Winged Dragon as a Signer Dragon. Black-Winged Dragon is a dragon that uses its own body as a shield. Even if the pain is shaving it away, that pain darkens its wings, which become its power; just like its Signer. For Crow would even risk his own life for his friends and those he cares for, especially the children of Satellite. It is that noble spirit that made the Crimson Dragon choose them both as Signer and Signer Dragon. And you dare to mock and disrespect them in such a way?! I'll make sure you feel that same pain ten-fold!" Despite her speech, Sherry just stared at her before laughing, then narrowing her eyes.
"Humph. So I'm supposed to put my tail between my legs and run away? Run away like you have for years?!" Sherry snapped. "Never! I've put so much work into getting my parents back from the abyss known as death, that I don't even care who gets hurt!" She clenched her hands into fists, tears falling down her cheeks. "Is that….so hard to ask for?..." She wiped her tears away, her facial expression returning to that of a determined one. "I will tell you one other thing before we start. Something I didn't say during my call to you guys via Yusei's D-Wheel. It's the name of the woman you and Akiza have seen."
"Her name?" Aura frowned.
"Yes." Sherry replied. "Her name is Ariana."
"Ariana?" Aura repeated. "So that's the name of the woman who I saw huh…"
"Akiza saw her as well." Sherry retorted. "Remember Akiza getting Rose Pulsar Dragon before she teamed up with Yusei against one of Aporia's 3 versions-Primo? Akiza ended up in a white room too."
"So that's what had happened." Aura muttered.
"That's right." Sherry confirmed. "And now that you know my reasoning for joining her and Z-ONE, I must defeat you! If I do, I'll get my parents back!" She activates her duel disk. "Come at me, Aura!"
"So you're willing to sacrifice thousands of lives all in order for a false promise of bringing back your parents." Aura frowned, a hand to her pistol duel disk. "I'll admit, if I had been in your shoes long ago I might've done the same thing in order to make up for the many lives I had cruelly taken in my youth." She then tossed the pistol in the air, raising her arm as it attached to her wrist becoming her duel disk. "But not any longer. I won't run. I won't turn back. I will stand and fight for my future and not allow the past to chain me down any longer." She frowned.
"Actions speak louder than words Aura!" Sherry shot back. "Now prove it by talking to me through your cards!"
"With pleasure!" Aura yelled.
"Shall we?" Beast smirked.
"Let the game commence." Beatrice smirked.
"DUEL!"
"I'll start Aura!" Sherry declared. "Draw!" (Sherry's hand: 6 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.) Sherry looked at her hand and she smiled in amusement before looking at Aura. "Oh the sweet sweet irony. I shall reveal to you this card." Sherry reveals Blackwing - Simoon the Poison Wind in her hand. "By doing that, I banish Blackwing - Harmattan the Dust from my hand, then I shall place 1 Black Whirlwind from my Deck onto my field. After that, this card is Normal Summoned to my field." Sherry 2 cards from her Deck, 1 sent to her pocket and the other onto the field. After that, the dark bird appeared onto Sherry's field. (Blackwing - Simoon the Poison Wind, Level 6 DARK Winged-Beast-type monster, ATK/DEF: 1600/2000. Sherry's hand: 4 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.) Aura grew wide eyed upon seeing the Blackwing that appeared onto Sherry's field.
"Blackwing?! You mean you even?!" She began.
"Stole Crow's Deck? Why yes I did." Sherry remarked as she gestured to Black Whirlwind. "Black Whirlwind's effect! Since I Normal Summoned, I can add 1 Blackwing from my Deck to my hand that has an ATK less than the Normal Summoned monsters." A card ejected from her Deck; thus she added it to her hand. "I shall add Blackwing - Breeze the Zephyr to my hand. And since I have added it to my hand from my Deck by a card effect, it can Special Summon itself!" The orange and yellow-feathered bird appeared next to Simoon. (Blackwing - Breeze the Zephyr Level 3 DARK Winged-Beast-type Tuner monster, ATK/DEF: 1100/300. Sherry's hand: 4 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.)
With a Tuner, the added level is 9. Aura thought with a scowl. Sherry then raised her right arm upwards.
"I tune the Level 3 Breeze with the Level 6 Simoon!" Sherry announced. After she did, a green pillar of light of light appeared; thus taking in the 2 monsters whose total Levels equaled 9. "Jet-black wings, spread amidst gathering clouds! Become the sword that divides the heavens! Synchro Summon! Level 9! Descend! Assault Blackwing - Kusanagi the Gathering Storm!" The red and black-armored winged bird warrior appeared onto Sherry's field. (Assault Blackwing - Kusanagi the Gathering Storm, Level 9 DARK Winged-Beast Synchro monster, ATK/DEF: 3000/2800. Sherry's hand: 4 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.)
"I bet Crow never had an Assault Blackwing monster in his Deck before." Sherry grinned. "And now he does. He should be thanking me after this." She then pulled another card from her hand. "Since I control only 1 face-up Blackwing monster, I can Special Summon Blackwing - Gladius the Midnight Sun from my hand!" A bird that the design of a knight appeared onto Sherry's field next to her Level 9 Synchro monster. (Blackwing - Gladius the Midnight Sun, Level 3 DARK Winged-Beast-type monster, ATK/DEF: 800/1500. Sherry's hand: 3 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.)
"I'm not done however!" Sherry continued. "Since I control a Blackwing monster, I can also Special Summon this! Come! Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind!" The purple and green-feathered bird appeared onto Sherry's field as well. (Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind, Level 3 DARK Winged-Beast-type Tuner monster, ATK/DEF: 1300/400. Sherry's hand: 2 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.) Once again, Sherry raised her right hand upward.
"I tune my Level 3 Gale the Whirlwind with my Level 3 Gladius the Midnight Sun!" Sherry announced. The 2 monsters flew into the green pillar of light; there combined Levels equaling 6. "Brandish the great blade of myth, heroic raptor! Synchro Summon! Appear Level 6! Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight!" Flying down to her field from above was a knightly winged bird. (Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight, Level 6 DARK Winged-Beast Synchro monster, ATK/DEF: 2400/1600. Sherry's hand: 2 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.)
"Nothung the Starlight's effect!" Sherry revealed. "Upon its Special Summon, you take 800 points of damage! On top of that, 1 of your monsters loses 800 ATK/DEF! Of course, you don't control any monsters, so feel the wrath of Nothung!" The knightly Blackwing unsheathed its sword and charged forward and slashing Aura's shoulder.
"Ugh!" She winced, clutching her shoulder. (Aura's LP: 4000 - 800 = 3200. Sherry's hand: 2 cards. Sherry's LP: 4000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 3200.) Sherry grabbed the last 2 cards from her hand and set it.
"I end my turn with 2 face-downs." Sherry concluded. "And since I have, Black Whirlwind is sent to the Graveyard and I take 1000 damage due to Simoon the Poison Wind. A ghostly form of Simoon appeared behind Sherry and put her in a choke hold as she winced from it. Eventually, the ghostly version of Simoon vanished and Sherry could breathe again. (Sherry's LP: 4000 - 1000 = 3000. Sherry's hand: 0 cards. Sherry's LP: 3000. Aura's hand: 5 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.) Sherry then gestured to Aura. "Your move now."
"Ugh. My turn; draw!" Aura yelled. (Sherry's hand: 0 cards. Sherry's LP: 3000. Aura's hand: 6 cards. Aura's LP: 4000.)
To dare steal and use a Deck which is the heart of a Duelist is unforgivable! She won't get away with this! Aura thought furiously.
"What's wrong Aura?" Sherry inquired as she folded her arms. "Too angry to make a move or something?"
"Not at all, but tell me something." Aura replied. "How did you get involved with Yilaster in the first place?"
"Simple really." Sherry remarked. She paused, then added. "Well, it's simple now. But back when I was a mere child…" She clenched her hands into fists. "I understood nothing… I didn't understand what my parents were going through….. Pressure was on them after they've found this." Sherry pulled out another card from her pocket and revealed it to Aura. "Z-ONE. This card name is what Yilaster wanted from the start. Whatever it is, it's very important to Yilaster. So…..after my Dad got off a call when angry client, least that's what 6 year old me believed, he and Mother reassured me everything was fine." Once again, tears fell down her cheeks. "But that was the last hours I'd ever see my parents alive again…." She took a breath, then continued. "I woke up to angry shouting, in addition to gun shots. When I went to my parents room, they were…..dead. I of course started to cry, and that's when Elsworth came into the room. With his help, we managed to escape. Ever since then, Yilaster has been on my tail; desiring this reobtain this card."
"But if they were the ones responsible for your parents' deaths in the first place, why work for them under a false promise? For all you know, they're only using you in order to get rid of us and destroy Neo Domino City." Aura frowned.
"I know that!" Sherry snapped as tears continued to fall. "But unlike you, Yusei, Akiza, Crow, Leo, and Luna, I don't have a future! I have nothing to go back to! I have nothing to cherish and love anymore! I'm desperate Aura Fudo! Even if the promise Z-ONE and Ariana told me is false, I have the tiniest hope that they're sincere! Maybe I'm delusional, but I have to try!"
"Then tell me this: Would your parents be happy to know that their own daughter would be willing to let thousands of innocent lives perish for their own?" Aura asked. At first, Aura's words didn't affect her. But after some time, Sherry lowered her head.
"...No…." Sherry whispered. "No they wouldn't….."
"Then stop this now Sherry. Stop before you can't turn back from this sin." Aura frowned. "Because trust me, with what I had to do in my past, I know for a fact both my foster and birth parents are sad for me. I don't wish for that on anyone else."
"A-Aura…" Sherry whispered. She closed her eyes, then reopened them. "I know you are angry at me for using Crow's Deck, but I only used it because Ariana told me to. She wanted to see if it would anger you."
"Well it did." Aura muttered.
"Not just because he's your boyfriend?" Beatrice smirked, making Aura glare at her.
"I want you to be the one to finish me Aura." Sherry spoke. "So I play this; the Trap card, Tailwind. Due to this, I shall give control of my Level 9 Assault Blackwing to you for this turn only. Also during this turn only, the monster I gave you can attack me directly." Assault Blackwing - Kusanagi the Gathering Storm went from Sherry's field to Aura's field. Sherry's lips formed a sad smile. "Well go on Aura. Attack me."
"Sherry." Aura blinked in surprise.
"You were right Aura." Sherry told her. "I was in the wrong. I let my emotions control my actions. And well, look where it got me. So go ahead. Finish this. You don't want to keep your Signers waiting, now don't you?" Aura frowned, unsure of this, but knew this was the right choice and nodded.
"Alright. Assault Blackwing - Kusanagi the Gathering Storm, attack Sherry directly!" She commanded. The red and black-armored bird launched himself forward and slashed Sherry. The long-haired blonde cried out as she skidded backwards from the attack. (Sherry's LP: 3000 - 3000 = 0.) As soon as the duel ended however, the same shadowy figure appeared before Aura. Like last time, the temperature began to drop.
"The temperature! You again!" Aura growled.
"Yes…...me again." She responded as she waved her right hand and a dagger appeared; thus she grabbed it. "I should have known Sherry's heart was wavering…..a miscalculation on my part. But no matter….. If Sherry can't kill you…then I will….." As soon as she finished, she threw the dagger like a spear towards Aura. At this time, Sherry regained her composure and her emerald eyes widened in horror.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Sherry screamed as she leapt forward so she was in front of Aura…...and took the dagger throw instead. Sherry gasped before crumpling to the floor. The cybernetic woman sighed in irritation.
"...Typical….." Then she vanished from the area and the temperature returned to normal.
"Sherry!" Aura yelled, quickly kneeling. She held Sherry up in her arms, horrified upon seeing the blood coming out of Sherry's fatal wound. "Why?! Why would you do that?!" Sherry fluttered her eyes open and looked up at Aura.
"It's as I said….Aura…" Sherry spoke softly. "I've…lost everything….. I have nothing to go back to….no parents…...no friends…...nothing left to cherish and love….. It's…...all gone…"
"But what about Elsworth?! I'm sure he's waiting for you to come back! You have someone who still cares Sherry!" Aura shrieked with tears.
"H-Heh… I suppose you're right…" Sherry weakly laughed.
"Don't worry, I'll heal your injury." Aura quickly said, holding out her hand. Before her Aura could emanate over Sherry's fatal wound, Aura felt her hand being slapped away.
"I don't want to be healed Aura…" Sherry told her firmly. "Because if you do…...you'll be wasting your time saving someone like me…...Save that energy for yourself or your Signers…. I'm just some nobody that was trying to complete an impossible task…..".
"Don't say that! Every life has meaning! You deserve to live!" Aura retaliated.
"...Perhaps…" Sherry admitted. "But if you heal me…..I will not have atoned for my sins against you all… I betrayed Yusei and Akiza's trust… And for what?... My own selfish desire to have my parents… How stupid could I possibly be?..." She raised her right hand up and touched Aura's right cheek. "You have so much to live for….. I don't… I wasted it on petty revenge….. It's as I said… You have a future waiting for you with open arms… I don't have any of that…. Not anymore…." She took another breath, then added after she removed from the dagger from her chest. "Promise me….. Promise me that you'll cherish and love everyone in your road of life ahead….. Especially your friends and family…. Accomplish what I can no longer do…..." Aura choked a sob, nodding.
"I will….. I promise…..." She swore.
"Good…." Sherry smiled as she closed her eyes. "Because I know…...deep down…...that you-" Before she could finish her sentence, her breathing had succumbed to a stop. Her hand went limp on Aura's cheek as it fell to the floor.
"Sherry….!" Aura choked before she sobbed.
"Ugh… What the hell happened?" Crow groaned as he sat up. "One minute I'm dueling, then the next I'm out cold for who knows how long." Aura hiccupped before she looked up to see Crow.
"Crow…" She choked.
"Hey Aura." Crow smiled as he walked over to her. His smile faded instantly upon seeing the lifeless body of Sherry. "What the hell happened?!"
"Sherry… Sh-She took a hit for me…!" Aura cried. "I had gotten th-through to her. We didn't need to fight! Yet she… She…!"
"She took the hit for you because she knows your life is far more important than hers." Crow remarked. "Still…. I can't even believe she'd do that…." Aura sniffed, wiping her tears before taking out Crow's Deck from Sherry's Duel Disk and handing it to him.
"Here your Deck." She said to him. Crow nodded, taking his Deck back.
"Thanks." Crow nodded. Aura got out a card, Summoning Bloodedge before standing, holding Sherry's body.
"Bloodedge, mind holding Sherry's body until we leave here?" She asked. Bloodedge nodded, carefully taking Sherry's body in his arms. Aura looked at Sherry sadly.
I hope that you're with your parents now Sherry. She thought. A shout snapped Aura out of her thoughts. The shout came from further up ahead the pathway from the first gear she and Crow had deactivated.
"Thats!" Aura gasped.
"It looks like a duel is about to start somewhere up ahead." Crow spoke.
"Let's go check it out then." She said.
"Right!" Crow grinned as he got on his D-Wheel and sped off. Aura did the same and followed Crow.

Tailwind, type: Normal Trap. Effect: Give your opponent 1 Winged-Beast monster you control until the End Phase, and if you do, that monster can attack you directly this turn. Neither player can activate cards or effects when that monster attacks during this turn.
0713MM: And chapter 58 is done! The final arc of 5Ds has begun! Now, this fic should be over in about 4 or 5 more chapters. It all depends on how long the final duel of this arc takes.
