Chapter 39:

Who's that Dude?

Hanji can't believe that she does not have her periodic table of elements.

Great, she wanted to do extra great at school and now this is happening, can't believe this is happening.

How could she even do her homework if she doesn't have her periodic table? She looked at her things, scattered on the floor as her bag swung open revealing nothing of the said table of elements and she felt desperate. She can't afford to do it tomorrow since Physical Science is the second subject that they have in the morning and she guesses that it would be hard for her to do it while listening to her teacher in their first subject as she is still currently in the midst of her adjustment after her issue and of keeping up with her missed lessons and grades.

She sighed and looked at her phone instead. Earlier, she messaged Nanaba, asking if she has her periodic table with her but half an hour later, she still doesn't have any reply. She then browsed her social media page and was somehow waiting for anyone to post that they are already done with their respective homeworks. Much to her dismay, no one among her classmates or her batchmates made an attempt to put anything online that they have successfully completed their homeworks.

But a name suddenly caught her eyes and random thoughts came rushing into her about that person. She hesitated because she knows they don't even talk but she knows him and she knows that he too is aware of her name and of who she is.

Still, her hand moved the mouse and click on the name to send a message because her need is more important than being shy.

Hi Erwin :

A quick respond came followed by an emoticon.

Can I ask you something?

Hanji first typed and felt anticipation as her heart came pumping harder and faster, unsure whether this person who she never came to be close with is going to help her or not.

I forgot my Periodic table of Elements at school and I have an assignment to finish here and I really badly needed to ask help.

She came to type another followed by another.

I'll be just asking a few questions.

Erwin who is on the other line, felt the desperation from her messages. It only took him a couple of minutes thinking about Hanji who he knows but barely talked to with. Somehow, he is completely aware that she is highly intelligent as she reigned champion for four consecutive years in the National Science quiz bee in both individual and in a group, and continue to represent the school with her help. She also won everytime she joins the competition of the school and was also chosen by the mayor during the holidays due to her astounding 'Letter for the Mayor' competition that is given for high schoolers, addressing the mayor on what are the things the youth wanted to ask help for and Hanji won and recited her letter in front of the mayor herself. As far as he knows, she has been an active member until she became the president of her club and was recently widely gossiped due to her friendship with Levi. She had a couple of issues going on but has got her name cleared and maybe this is the chance for him to at least get to know her more and learn what kind of person she really is as he could feel that she seemed to be interesting.

Wait, let me get my periodic table.

Hanji read carefully his reply and squealed in delight. She knows that she does not fully know who Erwin is except that he has great leadership skills as he is always part of the line of officers in the Student Council and now in their senior year, had become the president himself. Aside from him reputable leadership skills, he was also quite known for his thick brows.

I have it now, what are you going to ask?

Excitement embraced Hanji as she quickly took her notebook and looked for her homework. She felt giddy not knowing that Erwin can be such a good Samaritan, as what she had heard from others.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so so much Erwin! :D

And she had asked about the atomic number of a few elements because from there, she can already answer a few series of connecting questions and as well as the atomic weight, the ones found below and their symbols. Afterwards, she apologized but grateful for such help.

Erwin felt the gratefulness from her and grinned to himself. It does made him feel happy to be of help to somebody else who are in the middle of struggle. From the conversation that they just had, he find her just fine and not according to the gossips and whispers that he hears from others. Hanji Zoe isn't so bad at all.

He replied with a warm smile on his face, a gratifying feeling all because of helping someone in need. Their chat ended and Erwin continued working on what he had left behind earlier while Hanji finishes her homework.

The following morning, Erwin was surprised to be greeted by Hanji first thing of the day. Her hair seemed to be comb but still in a ponytail while her eyes bright like the morning sun of the day. She let out toothy grin and waves her hand right across his face.

"Hi!" she said in a high pitched tone. "Erwin right?" she asked and waited for an answer.

Truthfully inside, she felt a bit shy which she finds different for the first time because she was never shy. It was like she was born with a hardcore confidence and now here she is, almost crumbling on the ground. For abrupt reason she really does not know why but what she knows is that she should at least show respect and gratefulness to someone who showed concern and thoughtfulness even they do not know each other that much.

"Hello Hanji Zoe" Erwin coolly replied. Hanji felt a sudden tense run into her when she heard him say her whole name and guesses it is because he does not know yet how to properly address her yet.

"Just call me Hanji" she said warmly, her eyes still direct at him. "Can I call you president Erwin or just Erwin?"

"Erwin will do fine" he replied with a smile. Hanji couldn't admit but she find him gorgeously handsome with thick brows. She can't help but note that his blonde hair shines like the sun, even shinier that the sun is now reflecting on it and pains her eyes.

"Thanks for last night!" she said in a moderate voice, knowing that she might cause another unwanted issue against her and even more worse, had the person who helped her be included to her recklessness.

Erwin seemed to have noticed Hanji's eyes almost watering and was looking somehow straight through him and realized that the sun is blinding her.

"No problem, you can ask me for some help anytime, I don't really mind." He tells her and lead the way towards the hallways going through their respective rooms, Hanji immediately following along.

"Were you able to finish your homework?" he asked as he clenched on his bag and search her face for an answer.

"Yes I did" she replied with a nod and a smile. "All thanks to you!"

"Like I said, it's no big deal and anytime you can ask me for some help if you really need to." Hanji can't help but feel so thankful for such a guy who seemingly came from heaven and looked like an angel with thick brows and shiny blonde hair, and all he needed were wings to complete his angelic personality.

"Of course, if I really need you again." She said with a laugh before coming to realize that she was already by their classroom door.

"Yeah, or if the Student Council could help you with anything too." He said and waved off, going to his classroom opposite of hers as she watched.

As she goes inside her classroom and to her place, she can't but feel like bursting of happiness and wanted to go up her chair and wiggle her ass. Erwin is really charming and nice, and definitely looked like a gentleman and even acts one as well.

And for the rest of her day, it went fast can't help but thinking of how nice Erwin is to her.

Hanji called for a meeting for her club and deliver them both a good and bad news.

She felt anxious and excited at the same time, feeling her heart bursting for such news that she wanted to deliver to her clubmates. For her, there is nothing even greater and more enjoyable than do what she loved and experience them with people who share the same as hers.

As club president, she wanted her final reign over club to be a memorable one and as much as possible, have everybody enjoy and at least give her final project together with them as one of the best that the club could ever have.

Hanji stood right before her clubmates who are all seated on their chair stools, some with notebooks with them and pen and waited for her to speak. She does not usually feel threatened or scared of talking in front, much less speaking in front of her own club. But then again, she looked closely into each of their faces despite the feeling of unsureness swirling on the bottom of her abdomen. On their faces she sees the need to lead her club into more adventures where everybody would learn and benefit from the activities that they are going to have, not just to have fun and make memories together.

With a big heavy sigh, she closes her eyes and opens them with determination.

These are the people that had believed on her, no matter what the consequences and she had brought against them that could affect them as well.

"Everybody" she started and was happy to see that everyone is listening a hundred percent on her. "The end of our school year is almost at its end and with only barely three months left. With that, I am hoping that we could have a major project to be done before the school year ends formally."

She paused for a while, waiting for any side comments or anything but nothing came and so she decided to continue with her plans.

"I am going to propose a project, which would include going outside the school and an overnight stay, so it is going to be difficult to have the school approve on it but I promise you that I will do everything with the best that I can to have it approved." Squeals and rejoices were appraised after what she had said but some asked them to be quiet for a while to have their president continue talking, in which she did.

"We would be having the Astronomy Club with us as they explore the night sky and we can join in on their activity and they too, at day time can join ours. Me and their president have discussed over this and they already approved and is just waiting for our response."

"We don't mind!" tells the other.

"It'll be fun with them!"

Continues by some of her members and with those responses, Hanji was able to conclude that her club does wanted to push thru with the project activity with the other Club as well.

"We would also be doing an activity on our own by night time in which the Astronomy Club could join as well too. Me and their president have already discusses all of the possible activities to be done and would still need to be discussed further more. And that only leaves us to one thing."

Hanji watched as her members exchanged glances over one to another, the others exchanging possibilities of what she might be saying. Seeing that none of the could guess what it was that she was trying to say, she decided to tell them and hope they could also help out.

"We need to have the principal allow us on this." She said calmly, the others still waiting for her to continue but she no longer did.

"Does that mean we are not a hundred percent sure yet of this?" asked one of the youngest members.

"Yes, not yet and that means that we're going to need all of your hopes to work out and have the principal allow us to have this activity after telling out club moderator so that he can also help us out." She explains clearly to her clubmates, somehow already hoping that she would hear at least one that they are truly sure that they will get to have this activity done.

"But I also have an idea of asking the president of the student government for any means of support for our soon-to-be-finale activity." Hanji added, feeling hopeful and for her members.

"We'll need budget and back up from them too." One of the club members agrees and some can't help but find it funny, though that statement mad e Hanji feel happy, that at least the aid that she is about to seek wouldn't surely be of waste.

Watching her club, she agrees deep into herself and finalize the things that she would need to accomplish for the day.

I feel the need to cut the scenes with Erwin into two instead of putting them all in just one chapter which might be extra long to read.

Anyway, I would like to apologize I have only updated now most especially because I gave my word that I would update soon after the previous one L

I'm hoping I'll get to update once again. Anyway, rejoice for the new LeviHan scenes in the manga! And not just ordinary scene but quite intimate too ;)
